Ate here with a friend recently. I wanted a quick drink bit wound up dinner on a Friday night. We had waited for a table but it was already packed in restaurant. They wound up seating us in the Bar which had a few seats at the end of Bar. Bartenders were friendly and they took our dinner order at the bar. We had ordered the Steak and a Chicken parm dinner. I had a Henhouse Mighty IPA. We actually liked the Bar vibe and the food was ok. I wound up taking 1/2 my dinner home but it was good for breakfast the next day. It was alright but the vibe at bar was comforting and I would rather be at Bar then dine in the restaurant we will be back for more of their menu.

Food is amazing There's a guy named Eric who works there Such a pleasant person and really glad I ran into such a nice guy I'd come back just because of his attitude and his energy Thanks, Eric

    Two $5 bills

They charged us $5 per person as soon as we sat even though we only wanted one quick beer and said we'd only be there a few minutes (band wasn't even playing yet), should have walked across the street to mare island brewing

I tried to wait but it was too good

The service was great. Shout out to our server. The bar inside was nice with a good selection. Surprisingly great food! I was pleasantly surprised.

Tried this restaurant for the first time, though it's been around for many year. Table for 4 indoors. We were seated immediately. Good food. Excellent menu. Love that they have a beer garden with live music and outdoor seating in the back.

We love coming to Benicia and we love eating at Lucca! They always have good live music playing, seasonal menus and eclectic atmosphere. Plus service is always warm.

November 2025 update: Add Cioppino to my Lucca Love List :) Service was spot on. Note to self: sit in front of the restaurant to catch the morning rays; it's a little chilly inside when Lucca first opens.

Walking around Benicia we overheard the music, so we decided to come and see what it's like. We ended up going to the Beer Garden and it's open seating. You order your drinks at the outdoor bar and can sit and enjoy the live music. They have live music Thursdays til Sunday. We had such a great time. Just good vibes, music, and drinks. They also have a sit down restaurant inside and an indoor bar. But we really enjoyed the beer garden. The bartender was friendly and there were plenty of seating. It was a beautiful day in Benicia when we went but when evening came, it was chilly. They had the heaters running for us which helped a lot. Great scene. Good service. We definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Lucca continues be a solid pick for good food and music in town. I always gotta visit Lucca every now and then. I think it's amazing that they have the beer garden now. If it's cold theres even heat lamps outside! Much needed for someone like me he is always cold. But what's the next best thing to warm you up? An alcoholic beverage and a bowl of chili. If you haven't had the chili, I definitely think you should try it the next time. It was so good that I'm thinking of trying a chili dog the next time im here and Im pretty picky about chili. Potato fans will also enjoy the Baked Potato. It comes fully loaded and with Beer Cheese. The one thing that was just ok to me were the Ribs. I love my ribs to be super saucey but I also like for them to be flavorful without. They tasted like they weren't really seasoned at all. But the texture was good though. The meat fell off the bone which I was at least thankful for. The Ribs weren't bad by any means. I just feel like they needed a pinch more salt and pepper at the very least. Aside from that one hiccup, I always have a good time here. Lucca continues to be in our rotation for favorite bars in town.

Walt from Walt's Adventures reporting from the Lucca Bar and Grill in Benicia, California. This corner restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining, a full bar and is a mere block or so from the seaside. We arrived, were directed to our seats and found ourselves sipping our drinks short afterwards. The deviled eggs is an appetizer that I recommend. The taste was satisfying. All of our meals had a pleasing presentation. The fish of the fish n chips rivaled many other eateries. A member of my party greatly appreciated the chips of the dish. I thought that they were good but a bit too cooked for my individual tastes. The chicken sandwich was completely devoured and the Chicken Wrap Salad was fantastic. I am sure that the soup was prepared with skill. For the individual taste of one of my party members, it had a spice that gave her a frown. Overall, this restaurant is now listed with my favorites in the area. I look forward to returning at a far more earlier time to taste the breakfast portions of the menu. If the breakfast is anything like the rest of our selections we consumed today, we will no doubt leave Lucca Bar and Grill again highly satisfied.

The music is amazing & service outstanding!! It's incredible that you don't have to pay to watch such talented acts, but of course donations are welcome!

I came here for dinner because I had a gift card. The inside was quite noisy and there was a fly buzzing around our table. The servers were good and nice but there were not enough of them and it was clear that it was understaffed. The steak and frites was pretty good. The fried chicken was crispy but the skin was dark suggesting that the oil was old. The chicken was ok. The portions were quite generous so you don't need appetizers unless you are really hungry. The prices are reasonable.

I feel like I've been going here at least once a month with friends and the experience is always really good. When we enter the music is always good. Usually it's some kind of oldie R&B or rock I think. This recent visit we tried the sliders for the 1st time and man were they good! They are better than the actual burger they have on the menu. The other one with the fig jam just tastes like it's trying too hard. I get that it's Benicia and the brewery is trying to be a little more upscaled but man I miss the burger they had with the Bacon Jam.

Unfortunately, the festival did not serve any liquor so we decided head down to the local bar before we enjoy the festival and all the food it had. We walked into the bar, and it felt like the establishment hasn't changed a bit. The ambiance is the dark speakeasy bar feeling. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a super nice bartender who made some delicious drinks! Back in the day there used to be brunch and a bigger food menu but they have stopped that. The buffet I guess was a waste and a lot of food didn't get eaten. They used to have a make your own Bloody Mary bar, but didn't see that either. The menu is on an IPad and it's nice to see the photos of what the every drink looks like. There is an assortment of drinks to choose from. This is one of the bars that actually knows how make drinks! We order a mixture of drinks, from the key lime pie martini, to the spicy jalapeño margaritas with the Tajin rim, to the delicious pear drink! These drinks were made with love! I would definitely recommend this place for drinks, during the evening they usually have a band playing. The only reason why it's not a 5 star is the old furniture... I used to love sitting on the sofas for a cozy feeling but they look pretty beat up now... just makes things look a bit dirty. Clam chowder was so thick you can taste the flour , pasta was over garlic , the yellow fin tuna sandwich was under seasoned , the good thing in the entire thing was the sweet potato fries . I ordered the crab Benedict which by description says " dungeness crab " but no way it is. First of all , my poached eggs had almost a quarter of the egg shell on it, the bread was tasting old , crab was cold , fishy and definitely from the can- which definitely is NOT dungeness . Service : I couldn't complain earlier bc our server didn't check on us . I told her when she was getting the bill and all she had to say was sorry . I asked her to forward the message to the manager and chef but she asked " do you want me to forward your message ? Well of course ! After all that she still didn't offer anything to offset the bad food . Not that it's important to take it off the bill , or get a new entree , but out of principle they should say or offer something and I would have said no anyway . But the experience was so bad , the table was quiet during the meal . And I'm the one who recommended it. We all ended up having to go for ice cream to fill ourselves for the bad taste and a bad experience. We ate two servings of bread an do bitter while we waited for the entrees. The filet was tender and seasoned well in addition to being cooked a bit over medium, had a large portion of spinach and mashed potatoes, and came with the same red wine reduction sauce as the mushrooms which we found a bit odd. The minutely seasoned halibut has to have been the tiniest piece of fish we've ever seen served and only had six small potato quarters and like 6-7 stalks of asparagus with it. Overall, we ate everything because of the small halibut entree, but will most likely not return. I suggest the owners have more than one server on a Friday night, For everyone's sake.
