Visited this place to eat since a restaurant down the street wasn't able to accommodate my party of 5 ... So we walked over to Lucca ... We walked in . Was greeted by the host ... Seems the host mentioned them having a patio/ outdoor area ... We agreed that would be a nice experience... Made it to the patio as we noticed a band setting up ... Lo and behold it was a Steely Dan Tribute Band scheduled to play .... Our waitress greeted us with beverage service as that being the norm ... Eventually she mentioned there would be a $5 per person charge for the purpose of being entertained by the band performing .... The issue is this .... It hadn't been e They say is outside in the patio to eat . And unclear situation occurred . We had a party of 5 ... After being seated and waiting for the beverages ,,,, the waitress told it was a 5$ per person charged which wasn't explained @ the start of entering the building .... We felt slightly ambushed ... Last but not least we paid separately.. However the waitress made continuous mistake needing to ask for the debit card 3 separate times which was confusing and annoying ... My issue is more so the confusing entirely ... *Slow communication *Friendly service * Food ,,, cafeteria like and there's French fries are extremely over cooked . Felt like I was eating french fries chips . The brisket is flavorless but tender . My guest ordered a Caesar Salad which was basically 2$ worth of lettuce , 4 -5 croutons , scattered Parmesan cheese and a liquidity plastic container of I'm assuming a Caesar salad dressing all for the price of 15$ or so dollars ,,, definitely not worth it ... I believe the grand estimate total we spent was about $150 and some change not sure including the tip and the $5 per person charged. Some adjustments were made to accommodate our feelings regarding the $5 per person patio concert charge ... Lucca is consistently good, in both service and food. Fish and chips, prime rib dip, and chicken club sandwich, are just some of the dishes I've had, and I have always been satisfied. Drinks are good too, with multiple options that change from time to time, keeping them interesting and innovative. Service is always friendly and efficient, even when they're busy, and I appreciate that. Only challenge occasionally, is that the dining room can get a little noisy, so it could be a bit hard to hear, but I'm glad to see they're doing well, because their menu and service definitely are worth it. read more

Ate here with a friend recently. I wanted a quick drink bit wound up dinner on a Friday night. We had waited for a table but it was already packed in restaurant. They wound up seating us in the Bar which had a few seats at the end of Bar. Bartenders were friendly and they took our dinner order at the bar. We had ordered the Steak and a Chicken parm dinner. I had a Henhouse Mighty IPA. We actually liked the Bar vibe and the food was ok. I wound up taking 1/2 my dinner home but it was good for breakfast the next day. Went for lunch around 11:30 without rezervations last Friday and was able to be able to be seated right away. Dining area filled up fast. When i went to the restroom in the bar area noticed that there were a lot of tables and they were full or Server was very friendly. Food was delicious. Husband had the fish and chips with slaw. It said it was spicy slaw but he didnt find it spicy and the bite I tasted wasn't. I had the dip and it was good. I would like to try it another time to try their deserts. read more

I've been to Lucca plenty of times, and it's usually a go-to spot for me, but the bartender on my visit yesterday afternoon completely missed the mark. I stopped in to order a drink and was finishing off a half-eaten cupcake that I bought next door when he rigidly told me I can't eat it at the bar, claiming it's an "insurance" thing. I offered to wolf it down quick, just to finish it, but instead he sternly told me, "What I need you to do is put it back in the box and close it up," like I was some f'ing bum off the street. Seriously? I could buy the place by writing a check... Look, I get it--rules are rules, and I understand business liability, but the delivery was pure attitude. When he later asked if I wanted another round, I gave him a chance to fix the vibe and told him his tone was a bit rough. Instead of smoothing it over or being professional, the guy actually doubled down and dug his heels in. As a regular who constantly supports this place, that's just garbage customer service. You don't alienate your regulars. Enforce the rules, sure, but lose the attitude. read more

Walking around Benicia we overheard the music, so we decided to come and see what it's like. We ended up going to the Beer Garden and it's open seating. You order your drinks at the outdoor bar and can sit and enjoy the live music. They have live music Thursdays til Sunday. We had such a great time. Just good vibes, music, and drinks. They also have a sit down restaurant inside and an indoor bar. But we really enjoyed the beer garden. The bartender was friendly and there were plenty of seating. It was a beautiful day in Benicia when we went but when evening came, it was chilly. They had the heaters running for us which helped a lot. Great scene. Good service. Lucca continues be a solid pick for good food and music in town. I always gotta visit Lucca every now and then. I think it's amazing that they have the beer garden now. If it's cold theres even heat lamps outside! Much needed for someone like me he is always cold. But what's the next best thing to warm you up? An alcoholic beverage and a bowl of chili. If you haven't had the chili, I definitely think you should try it the next time. It was so good that I'm thinking of trying a chili dog the next time im here and Im pretty picky about chili. Potato fans will also enjoy the Baked Potato. It comes fully loaded and with Beer Cheese. The one thing that was just ok to me were the Ribs. I love my ribs to be super saucey but I also like for them to be flavorful without. They tasted like they weren't really seasoned at all. But the texture was good though. The meat fell off the bone which I was at least thankful for. The Ribs weren't bad by any means. I just feel like they needed a pinch more salt and pepper at the very least. Aside from that one hiccup, I always have a good time here. Lucca continues to be in our rotation for favorite bars in town. read more

We arrived, were directed to our seats and found ourselves sipping our drinks short afterwards. The deviled eggs is an appetizer that I recommend. The taste was satisfying. All of our meals had a pleasing presentation. The fish of the fish n chips rivaled many other eateries. A member of my party greatly appreciated the chips of the dish. I thought that they were good but a bit too cooked for my individual tastes. The chicken sandwich was completely devoured and the Chicken Wrap Salad was fantastic. I am sure that the soup was prepared with skill. For the individual taste of one of my party members, it had a spice that gave her a frown. Overall, this restaurant is now listed with my favorites in the area. I look forward to returning at a far more earlier time to taste the breakfast portions of the menu. My friend and I wanted to grab lunch but wanted to try something new-ish, so we headed over the bridge to Benicia. We arrived around 2 and the place was busy. We were first sat inside, but we found it pretty loud and overstimulating, so we asked to move outside, which, thankfully, the hostess kindly accommodated. We ordered: *Deviled eggs - delicious. *Fried chicken with biscuits - this was good, and it's a huge amount of food (4 pieces of chicken, 2 biscuits, Mac and cheese and slaw). *Fish and prawns combo - this was a no for me. The batter was oddly soggy inside and I ended up just peeling it off to try and eat the prawn and fish. The fries were good though. Overall, I would come back and I'd love to try more things on the menu, but for this specific visit, the fish/prawns were a big let down. read more

The servers were good and nice but there were not enough of them and it was clear that it was understaffed. The steak and frites was pretty good. The fried chicken was crispy but the skin was dark suggesting that the oil was old. The chicken was ok. The portions were quite generous so you don't need appetizers unless you are really hungry. My family frequents Luccas so I've been here a handful of times. On our last visit we decided to sit outside because we brought the pups with us. My dad called ahead and reserved the table he wanted with no issues. Other seating options are available inside to include a front seating area and there is also a back seating area next to the bar. In the back near the bar there is loud music playing if that's your vibe. We ordered Brussels sprouts and garlic bread as our appetizers. Two of my family members order margaritas using different types of liquor and I went with a mezcal cocktail called- smoke on the water. All of the margaritas that I tried were not that good and I do not recommend. As for my cocktail it was balanced with a slight kick of heat. As for food I went with the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of fries for $17. The size of my sandwich was perfect as it was not too big and the portion of bread to chicken was appropriate. I didn't end up finishing my meal and it lasted just fine in the refrigerator for left overs. The location of luccas is on Main Street so parking can be limited and you may need to circle the block a few times before finding parking and/or walk a few blocks. read more

Went to Benicia to get out the house and we decided to have dinner at Lucca's. The place looked small as we entered the restaurant but they have plenty of dining outside for bigger groups. I let the wifey order and she picked the Lucca Burger, Deviled eggs and Beet salad to split. The food came out hot and fresh the bun wasn't to much and fit the patty just right, cooked medium and it came with perfectly cooked fries. But unfortunately I will not be visiting this place anymore, it's almost blatant lack of service at this point from the staff. After a hard day at work, hubby took me here to unwind, have a drink and eat. It was a hot day and the place was busy. There was a private party in the back lot outside and seating was filled outside along the side and front of restaurant. Luckily we were able to snag a table inside with no wait where it was cooler but very loud. Our server greeted us and she was sweet, friendly and professional. She quickly took our drink orders. I decided to get a Rosé (recommended by friendly server) and we both had water and hubby got a soda. Once she returned with our drinks fairly quick, she took our food order. We decided to share Deviled eggs, Beet salad, and the Lucca burger. As promised, our salad and appetizer came out fast and and before we could even get to our salad the burger came out. Everything was so good and I was starving too. We ended up taking the salad home as the portion was generous and I really liked the salad too. We enjoyed our time here even though the place was getting packed by the minute as it is Friday and nearing the 5:30 pm happy hour was getting louder too. Don't really care for the food here, very subpar in my opinion but the ambience can be pleasant its def hit or miss. Luke is a great bartender & makes great drinks. Sometimes the outside can be fun when they do live music but can get very loud and overstimulating with how crowded the beer garden gets. The beer garden food is not good at all. First of all a shout out to the restaurant and a very patient server. After a walk around the town of Benicia on a Scott Kelby International Photo Day walk the participants met here for dinner. We were a group of 18 and mostly strangers. Everyone got the correct order and they were able to give us separate checks. We sat at a table outside of the restaurant. The night was warm and it seemed like Ist Street was a cruise street I loved seeing the same cars pass by several times. A Yelp friend raved about a salmon sandwich she enjoyed here. It wasn't on the menu as she described her 5-star sandwich. Finally, I decided on an ahi nicoise salad. I thought that the ahi was a bit overcooked. That did not stop me from really enjoying my meal. While not mentioned in the menu description, I am sure I tasted anchovies, which elevated the salad. I had enough salad left to have it the next day. I started the meal with one of their specialty cocktails. It was a smoky something. I would not order it again; it was too smoky for me. There were many tempting cocktails I will try the next time I go. I was with two friends and they enjoyed their meals also. You can enter the bar on the side street through the best door in Benicia. I stopped by here for the first time during a Lagunitas event and there was also live band! There were lots of people seated outside enjoying the music. Definitely great vibes! The cocktail menu was interesting. We ordered a Lucca Mary (just the right amount of spice) , IPA on tap and a soda. Prime rib was one of the specials so we ordered that, fried chicken and a portobello sandwich. Everything tasted good. The hand wipes were appreciated since it was also surprisingly messy. Our server and the host were helpful and patient. Note that there is one step into the main restaurant so not wheelchair accessible from the front entrance.
