Heard about this place from a friend who absolutely loved it, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, it was just okay for me. The food was good, but nothing really stood out or made me say "wow, I need to come back." I'd be open to giving it another try, but not anytime soon.

Venticello's was cozy and elegant. The service was excellent we each enjoyed our food. I definitely recommend this restaurant for brunch on the weekend.

Stopped in for brunch one day and really glad we did! Ordered the frutti de mare verdara but received the frutti de mare. It was still very good! I'll have to go back to try the verdara. We love all the fresh seafood in Benicia. There is a patio and dogs are allowed. One thing that was weird was bloody mary with wine, I didn't try it this time but I might one day. Service was fast and staff were polite.

We had an amazing dinner here! Most specifically the pasta Alaina was divine, with its shrimp, vegetables, and light sauce! How did they make that?! They kindly split the order in half so we could share it. I'll be back!

A small, well appointed place, I was delighted with the lovely flavors in the simple items I chose. Started with cream of spinach soup and had salmon on a bed of pomodoro pasta. The ingredients were so fresh and inviting. The service was also great! Certain to return here next time I'm in the area.

Angel Hair pasta with fabulous sauce and excellent meatballs

I had lunch with friends and ordered Angel Hair pasta with Meatballs. The sauce is excellent. The meatballs were wonderful. I took half home as the portion is very generous. My husband ate the other half. When I was gone the following week he ordered the same to go. Came with a wonderful greens salad and dressing. He also ordered the minestrone soup. Loved it. Ordering dinner for tonight. Enjoy Benicia and this little restaurant. #BeniciaBest

My brother and I were wondering around Benicia in hopes of a quick bite to eat, and came across this lovely Italian spot! We had the most exquisite dining experience, our server Ruby was such a delight! Now, the food.. absolutely divine. Each dish we tried was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Italian flavor. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce rich and flavorful, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high-quality. (We tried the ravioli and cream of spinach soup.) If you're looking for a place with heart, flavor, and a little slice of Italy, you found it! We'll definitely be coming back, Venticellos is Bellissimo!

Excellent service and I like their food as well. A nice setting in Benicia. What's not to like? We usually come for breakfast but the dinners are good too. Recommend.

My family and friends went for dinner the night of the tree lighting. The restaurant is so inviting and small enough to be intimate but large enough that you don't feel cramped. My parents had the crab ravioli specials and they said it was amazing. I had the chicken piccata and I can't remember what everyone else said but I remember everyone saying it was amazing food. The salads that come first we're also very delicious and fresh. We had a wonderful time that night! Our waiter was very attentive and the company was delightful.

Just had a fabulous event at this wonderful restaurant. Was able to reserve the private back room for a group of seniors for lunch. Everyone was very happy with the food AND the service. It was so very very nice. Highly recommend especially for a group.

Is is lovely restaurant dog friendly?

I want to say yes but I don't know for sure. I swear I have walked by and seen people sitting outside with their dog. I would call them to double check though!

Do they do bottomless mimosas here?

We provide Bottomless mimosas every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM

Unfortunately, the festival did not serve any liquor so we decided head down to the local bar before we enjoy the festival and all the food it had. We walked into the bar, and it felt like the establishment hasn't changed a bit. The ambiance is the dark speakeasy bar feeling. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a super nice bartender who made some delicious drinks! Back in the day there used to be brunch and a bigger food menu but they have stopped that. The buffet I guess was a waste and a lot of food didn't get eaten. They used to have a make your own Bloody Mary bar, but didn't see that either. The menu is on an IPad and it's nice to see the photos of what the every drink looks like. There is an assortment of drinks to choose from. This is one of the bars that actually knows how make drinks! We order a mixture of drinks, from the key lime pie martini, to the spicy jalapeño margaritas with the Tajin rim, to the delicious pear drink! The only reason why it's not a 5 star is the old furniture... I used to love sitting on the sofas for a cozy feeling but they look pretty beat up now... just makes things look a bit dirty. I couldn't skip checking out Sailor Jack's, which used to be the Nantucket Fish Company, when I worked there in the mid 80's. The lunch menu offers some very different items than were offered four decades ago, but some items from those days are still featured today. (Items like clam chowder and fried prawns, for example.) Our server, Elizabeth, was great. She answered our questions and ensured we were happy with our food, at least as far as she could ensure... the food, however, was rather mediocre. We ordered a variety of food ranging from crab artichoke dip, to a chicken club, to fish and chips, to clam chowder, to a burger, and finally crab cakes. The starter, sandwich, fish and chips, and burger were all okay. The crab cakes however were not liked by those in our group that tasted them. (A lot of filler and not much crab from what one of our party members said). In any case, I mentioned this and the crab cakes, that went mostly uneaten, were removed from our bill. Bravo for good customer service! My understanding is that the outdoor dining that we very much enjoyed, was added during Covid. Back in the 80's the outdoor eating area was all parking lot. I took a look inside to see what else has changed. The main interior dining room looks almost identical to what it looked like 40+ years ago. The previous secondary indoor dining area has now been converted to a food preparation and employee only area. The bar itself looks the same as it did in 1984, but the area around the bar looks much more like dining space than it used to. This may be a good thing as attitudes on indulgences have certainly changed over the decades. I suspect at some point I'll return, hopefully it won't be decades...

I ordered the sea bass, my husband had the salmon, my sister had a salad, and her husband enjoyed the filet mignon. Every dish was delicious, but the sea bass deserves special recognition. As someone who orders sea bass whenever I can, I've had it in Pismo Beach, Monterey, and San Francisco, and Baxter's has set a new standard. It was incredibly fresh, melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a perfectly crisp sear that locked in all of its delicate flavor. Every bite was moist, flaky, and cooked to perfection. It was honestly the best sea bass I've ever had. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. Combined with the elegant atmosphere and classic white tablecloths, Baxter's was the perfect place to celebrate. We'll definitely be back!

If you're looking for the kind of dinner that makes you want to cancel your other weekend plans…read morejust so you can go back, Baxters is it. Tucked right on First Street across from the bay in downtown Benicia, this place has completely earned its reputation as the town's culinary crown jewel. From the moment you walk in, the warmth is unmistakable -- and it's not an accident. Owners Kenneth Coker and Kevin Shaw built this restaurant to feel like their own living room, and it shows in every detail, right down to the name (a sweet nod to their beloved Fox Terrier). That personal touch translates into genuinely attentive service that never feels stiff or rehearsed. Now, the food. The Beef Wellington is the stuff of legend -- perfectly rendered pastry, a filling that melts before you even chew, and clearly a labor of love from the kitchen. The scallops are seared to that impossible perfection where the outside caramelizes but the inside stays buttery-soft. And if salmon gnocchi in vodka sauce is on the menu when you go, order it without hesitation -- it's rich, comforting, and impossible to stop eating. Even the truffle burger, which almost feels like an afterthought on a menu this elevated, has become a neighborhood obsession for good reason. Cocktails are crafted with the same care as the food -- inventive, well-balanced, and clearly the product of a team that takes its bar program seriously. And if you can snag a reservation in The Speakeasy, the intimate back room, do it. It's easily one of the most romantic, memorable settings for a special occasion in the entire Bay Area. Baxters isn't just a great restaurant -- it's a genuine gathering place, the kind of spot a whole town falls in love with. Whether it's date night, a family celebration, or just a nightcap at the bar, Baxters delivers an experience that's warm, delicious, and utterly memorable every single time. Highly, highly recommended.
