Every custom flight is tailored to your specific taste and price point which I love. Hannah, one of their whiskey curators, is super knowledgeable and created one of the most memorable bourbon flights I've ever had with super rare allocated stuff. The service here is extremely friendly. I was speaking with Hannah about what I wanted in my flight and shared my wish list. Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. Some friends recommended we come here because of how great the steaks are, and I'm so glad we did! We were seated almost immediately upon arriving, which was awesome, and ended up enjoying our meal out on the patio area. Our server was friendly, answered all of our questions about the menu, and gave some great recommendations, which made choosing what to order much easier. I ended up getting the Dry Aged Steak Frites from the Happy Hour menu and OMG!! The steak, cooked medium, was incredibly juicy and tender!! We came as a family of six. We were all unimpressed. It started with bread. We ordered it, it never came. When we asked, our server blamed a "computer system outage." For bread. I genuinely don't know what to do with that explanation. The food took so long. I ordered my steak medium rare and it arrived overcooked. I thought this was a steakhouse and yall can't even cook a steak medium rare? One person in our party never received their salad despite asking multiple times. Their stupid steak dish is $50 entree with zero sides. I added cauliflower for an extra $17 charge and received something I could have made in five minutes. Enjoyed a great afternoon after stumbling upon The Ballard Cut. Wish we would have known about this place sooner. It was fun to meet the owner Tommy and learn more about all of the different whiskeys available. He is very knowledgeable. The whiskey is on an ipad with over 15 pages. Many different price points to try from. The bartender was also very helpful. I had cocktails, while my husband had a flight of whiskey. I enjoyed the standard daiquiri, the watermelon collins, and an espresso martini. They were all very good. We also tried a small happy hour plate of pork belly. It was very flavorful. I especially liked the homemade kimchi that came with it along with the edamame puree. We will definitely be back to try more whiskey as well as have a proper dinner. We came here with our son and his girlfriend to celebrate their graduations. We were seated immediately (we did have reservations) and had a great table by the window. After looking the menu over, we decided to order a sampling of several items off the "bites" , "plates" and "sides" to all share. This was a really good choice so that we could sample more of the menu without being overly full on any one item, or being overcommitted to any entree. We ordered the bread plate, the baby gem salad, the crispy pork belly, the bone in pork chop, the grilled lemon pepper 1/2 chicken, the crispy herb potatoes, and the cauliflower gratin. It all came hot and in a timely manner, minus the cauliflower, which they apparently forgot, but once brought was apologized about and removed from the bill. I am personally a picky, easily intimidated eater, and by doing shared plates, I surprised my family and myself at how many of the options (almost all!) I loved! I've been here four times total - once at their previous location and three times so far at their new location. We always have a great time! Service is always consistent and attentive whether the restaurant has been full or empty. They have a rotating menu of food and drinks, so you can come back throughout the year and try something new every time. Even though the headline for this place is a steakhouse/whiskey bar, you could order anything from the menu and not be disappointed. Their seafood dishes are great too. My girlfriend is not a normally a seafood fan but has ordered seafood here! Ambiance is dark and moody but still open, especially with the big windows on a busy Ballard corner. It can get loud when the restaurant is full, but it doesnt take away from the experience. I've never felt like I needed to make reservations for two people, but would recommend for groups of 4+. Regardless, you will get seated quicker with a reservation because they will be expecting you! Overall, this is a great place for a nice meal and tasty drinks. This is one of my new staple date night spots! I love the dark ambiance, really sets the romantic mood. They were previously in a smaller space and relocated. Sooo much nicer and with a lot more seating now! It's a very clean establishment and the service is always friendly. There's many great options on the food menu, I always end up getting a large spread for my boyfriend and I to share. Everything we ordered is phenomenal, packed with flavor literally nothing is bad here! I also don't drink alcohol so our server was able to recommend me a popular mocktail with coconut and pineapple. I finally got a chance to visit this place after hearing about it for a while now. If you like whiskey and good food, this is the place to go to. Their selection of Japanese whiskey and bourbon is one of the best in town. We were able to try some rarer scotch and bourbon, which made my day. Their food program is pretty solid as well. We ordered the special Tomahawk to share with the table as well as a salad and crispy pork belly. The owner here is very knowledgeable about the spirits he carries. It was nice of him to ask us what we wanted to try and our price point. He then curated a tasting for us. Overall, the service was great and hospitable. Came here the day after Valentine's Day and what a treat! Per a friends recommendation, we made reservations at the Ballard Cut. My partner and I shared the crispy pork belly appetizer, which was our favorite of the night. Then we shared the lamb chop and seafood cioppino. The tomato sauce in the cioppino was to die for, very yummy with the rustic bread. The lamb chop was tender. I liked the creamy sauce and the cucumber salad was very tasty. The food was good too. Classic Old fashioned was good and we had a flight of scotches from not peated to peated and it was quite an experience. Scott at the bar is very knowledgeable and customized the service very well for us. Parking is a problem for this location. I Ordered a Medium Rare steak and it was still cold in the middle a medium rare steak should be cooked to a 130ish internal temp with a red warm center. That was not the case it was more way more on the rare side. We also tried the pork chop which was mustard based bbq sauce. It was way over salted and the sauce tasted like straight yellow mustard. Leave the Mustard Bbq sauce to South Carolina. The beef Coulotte was tasty cooked to a perfect medium rare and a nice earthy chimichurri. Now for the service our waiter was spot on she kept the drinks flowing and the water filled she was very friendly and easy to talk to. The Ambiance was definitely a date night vibe. There is only street parking for the restaurant. We had a reservation, for a birthday, but the host took quite a while to seat the people in front of us and then us. There appeared to only be 2 wait Staff around attending to the whole restaurant. We inquired the Market Price Tomahawk steak which was $230. We decided not to order that. We ordered the tomahawk pork chop and it wasn't very special, very average size, but it was cooked perfectly and was juicy. The seasoning was very light. The crab tagliatelle hardly had any crab, and the pepper was so over powering that was all you could really taste. The presentation of the food looked beautiful. The taste was not so much. The cocktails were delicious. Our waiter hardly came to check on us. Only twice during our whole dinner. However he was friendly. There is also a 2.9 % processing fee for credit cards which I have never seen at a classy restaurant. Overall, the ambiance was beautiful, come in here for a cocktail. Would not recommend for dinner, the quality for the food was not worth the cost. Don't forget to get a reservation. They charge you for using your credit card. read more

Was expecting more options for meat, especially steaks - only options were a market price tomahawk ribeye and $54 NY strip when we visited. Though we asked for rare and they temped it, the NY strip seemed medium rare, verging medium - perhaps just the tougher cut of strip steak that was used, it was hard to chew. The sweet potatoes on the side were tasteless and watery. The fried cauliflower was tasty but only lightly fried on the outside - most of it was a soft, steamed inside. Ordered a $160.00 ribeye steak and it has to be one of the worst tasting steak we have eaten. We returned the order and we were charge $ 80.00 for it. I have never been charged by any descent steak house For serving us bad food. They do have good bread and pork belly including great whisky selection. I don't recommend this place for food value. Plenty of places for great food. Not here. Truly disappointed. The focaccia was really crispy on the outside but super soft and moist inside. The pork belly had a tasty sauce and kimchi to go along with it and was nicely cooked. Everything from the service and drinks to the tasty appetizer and entrees was impeccable. We went with the: - Steamed Clams - We loved the twist on these steamed clams with the curry base - we left no broth behind! - Calabrian Sausage Linguini - You can't go wrong with a bit of carbs at dinner! Went to Ballard Cut last night (Friday) as a group of 5 for my husband's birthday. We made a reservation and would definitely recommend doing this if you have over 2 people going. Jack was our waiter and he was awesome! Super attentive, friendly and steered us in the perfect direction with both food and drinks. For appetizers we got the charred pork belly (comes with 3 pieces, added two more) along with the fried cauliflower. The pork was incredible and each piece was the a great size for each of us. The flavor was heavenly, and the addition of the house made kimchi put it over the top. Really happy that they were able to add a couple more to the plate! Most of us aren't the biggest fans of cauliflower, but this was my favorite way I've had it so far. The whipped feta sauce was great and complimented all the spices wonderfully. We ended up getting the larger sized Tomahawk steak for all of us to share as a main, along with the carbonara. It was PERFECTION. Melt in your mouth delicious. We also appreciated that it came with plenty of charred broccolini and cheesy roasted potatoes. The carbonara was rich and delicious. The addition of a whole yolk to break over the fresh noodles at the table added a whole new level of creaminess. Leave room for dessert!! We tried all three options - Chèvre Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, and Tiramisu. These are not an afterthought. Every single one blew us away, but the favorite was definitely the cheesecake. The drinks were all top tier too. You can tell the bartenders know what they're doing. Great for a whiskey lover as well! In the end the bill was about $530 before tip. Why do I love the Cut? Amazing whisky selection and a happy hour that truly makes me happy. Every bartender and server here has always been kind and attentive. I love sitting at the bar and chatting up the super knowledgeable bartenders. Finally decided to try some Japanese whiskey and Dan was very helpful! He really put a lot of thought and care into his recommendations. The end result? I discovered a new and unexpected favorite. I ordered the happy hour slider and creamy sesame salad. Very rarely will I give an establishment 5 stars, but Ballard Cut was truly a great experience. A friend and I went there just as they opened, around 5, and we were one of the first to get seated. Immediately, we were greeted with such warm and hospitality. We ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tomahawk Pork Chop and Carbonara. Both dishes were absolutely perfect. The tomahawk pork chop was huge, first of all. It was cooked to the perfect temperature and it was so tender. The carbonara leaned a little salty but that's because of the pancetta, and we didn't mind one bit. At the end of our meal, we ordered the tiramisu which was also delicious. I normally always order a tiramisu if it's available on any menu, and I'd say Ballard Cut has the best thus far.
