Super clean modern vibe inside, open kitchen which is really fun and really attentive service. Hamachi crudo is a must try! All entrees were great too. We went for a v-day weekend and it was bustling and fun.

I was stopping over in Seattle on my way to a trip to Africa. I found this great restaurant near my hotel. First of all the service was excellent. Warmly greeted at the entrance and my waiter Alexis did a great job. I had the Chive Omelette, which was very good. Very casual and would recommend!

This Shaker + Spear review is long overdue, but better late than never! Shaker + Spear is more high end than my usual, and also more seafood-focused than my usual. Overall, the ambiance, service, and food was great. I tried the oysters, octopus, crab avocado, and seared scallops - everything was presented nicely and tasted delicious. While this isn't necessarily my style, I would definitely come back if in the area again!

We came here on Valentine's Day to celebrate my birthday, and WOW -- what an unforgettable dinner. From the moment we walked in, they acknowledged our special occasion and made us feel genuinely celebrated. It wasn't just a quick "happy birthday" -- it felt intentional. The service was absolutely top notch. Our server guided us through the menu with fantastic recommendations, helped us choose the perfect starter, suggested thoughtful drink pairings, and made the entire experience feel effortless and elevated. Now let's talk about the food. We started with the Grilled Prawns and the Seafood Tostada as a special treat. The grilled prawns came with carrot coconut curry, hearts of palm, fresno chili, and kaffir lime oil -- and let me tell you, that carrot coconut curry was fire. Smoky, rich, perfectly balanced. The hearts of palm complemented the prawns beautifully. Of the two starters, this was our favorite. The Seafood Tostada was stunning -- beautifully plated, even down to the volcanic salt-dipped lime. A true visual moment. For our entrée, we had the 16oz Branzino with fried potatoes... and I am still thinking about it a week later. Absolutely delicious. No notes. Chef's kiss. The skin was perfectly crispy, the fish was juicy and flavorful, and the fried potatoes were seasoned to complement it flawlessly. Worth. Every. Penny. I would order it again in a heartbeat. We don't usually go for dessert, but since it was a special occasion we had the Brown Butter Kombucha Crème Brûlée -- and I'm so glad we did. Smooth, rich, decadent without being overly sweet. Heavenly. This was hands down the best meal of our special weekend and the highlight of our food adventure. They know how to celebrate you. They know how to deliver exceptional service. And they absolutely know how to cook. We'll be back.

Nice bar snacks and nice cocktails. Lovely wee place in the hotel for happy hour that I will go to again.

Came in on a Friday night for a bite and ended up at the bar next to the chef's area. Absolutely incredible work by chef Alex, who mesmerized me with his attention to detail and flawless execution! They sent me some cute oysters on the house which was very sweet and Adrienne took great care of me during the meal. I normally don't order salmon but WOW the salmon was so decadent, moist, and flavorful and the cabbage somehow also vied for the spotlight. I think the texture combinations of really was phenomenal and I love how each dish was so carefully crafted. The hamachi crudo had small slices of an orange vegetable between--I couldn't make out exactly what it was but it cut the acidity of the dish absolutely perfectly. This may be my favorite hamachi crudo! The service was paced a bit slow which I don't mind in general but being a solo diner left a bit less to do between dishes, however the view of chef Alex was quite the entertainment! Well executed all around with bold and fantastic flavors and textures. A true delight!

Lovely interior and charming service personnel; you forget that it's a hotel restaurant. Unfortunately the food and drink remind you by their average taste. The hazelnut espresso martini was well chilled, but not particularly strong. The biscuits and gravy were well presented, but the gravy was lukewarm at best and the andouille sausage was not sautéed enough to release its customary punch. Honestly, it looked a sliced hot dog. The biscuit had a good flavor and texture but should have been better toasted. The hash was a large portion, with a good flavor profile; the lemony sautéed kale really spruced it up. However, for an extra $8 one expects more than a few shreds of duck confit.

We stayed at the Kimpton the restaurant is located in, so got to enjoy breakfast and dinner here. For breakfast, the waygu steak and eggs was tender, cooked to perfection and very filling. Even the classic two egg breakfast was executed well, and very filling with a healthy amount of crispy potatoes and toast. The only complaint was the sausage was barely warm. For dinner, we tried the clams which also had chorizo, a tasty kimchi broth and plenty of toasted bread for dipping into the broth. The brussel sprouts were nicely charred but perhaps overdone on whatever sauce they were in, which added a bit too much saltiness for my likeing, and same went for the burnt bread sauce the salmon was cooked in that added too much saltiness. Service was good and attentive for each meal. Ambiance was basic for breakfast but for dinner they have dim lighting and candles at the table, which is a nice touch.

Loved the food and service at Shaker + Spear along with the open kitchen design and ambiance. I had the Ora Salmon which was spectacular along with the PNW Oysters, Crispy Mushrooms, and Focaccia bread. The drinks were also top notch, especially the Sunny Days Ahead which was so good I needed to order a second glass! The service was terrific and all of my colleagues who dined there with me had a similar positive experience and were excited about returning!

    Wagyu Skirt Steak Eggs*

Found this place as we made an impromptu stay in the city. This was a very cute little restaurant. We had the skirt steak and eggs with a pressed juice, biscuits and gravy with a pineapple mimosas. They were both done very well, the steak was cooked too long and our waiter noticed and made the correction. Loved the very attentive service, very polite and friendly. We found great parking near where we could also explore pikes market again.

Food & service was outstanding! Place is so cozy, modern & chic. Love the vibes. Enjoyed our dinner... focaccia was crusty & tasty, the crab was delish and the salmon was yummy. Would definitely be back.

Wonderful dining experience while in Seattle. This restaurant truly stood out with great service and innovative dishes full of little surprises.

    PNW Sando (Steelhead) $25. Delicious.
    Charles H.

Recently discovered that Steelhead is one of my favorite fishes, and they have it here! It's featured in the "PNW Sando" ($25) as well as a $42 dinner entree. I recently enjoyed the sandwich for a quiet relaxing mid-week lunch at the bar. Was a little disappointed that my server couldn't figure out the draft beer situation, so I settled for bottled beer. The sandwich was amazing. Perhaps the best dish I had over an 8 day trip to the PNW. The thick, perfect bacon was almost superfluous. I might pull it out and appreciate it all by itself!

Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

I ended up getting the Dry Aged Steak Frites from the Happy Hour menu and OMG!! The steak, cooked medium, was incredibly juicy and tender!! I was so sad when I got down to the last bite lol As for the Russet French Fries, they were perfectly seasoned and just the right size. I especially enjoyed dipping them into the Fermented Chili Aioli. To which I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't actually spicy, given that I do have a pretty low spice tolerance lol. Overall, I'd definitely come back again! :)

I noticed Vince U did not take a picture of the lamb, which was about the size of a half-dollar coin, if anyone remembers what those are LOL. Yes the two bites of lamb was decent but nothing to write home about. Agreed, the Risotto was very delicious indeed, salmon was great, chocolate desert was very, very good, otherwise the rest was OK. But I wouldn't agree to understanding the assignment, for us. I had the wine flight and I love a good wine. These were all OK wines. I get it, you have to watch your costs and make a good profit, to which I totally agree. I wish we would have tried Violet our first time for the regular menu. I'm guessing we would have rated 4 or 5 stars more than likely. For a bill of $400+ (including a great tip because we love to support) we felt like we were almost ripped off. I get it, it's a special occasion and lots of work goes in to these things but walking out of there $400+ poorer really made us feel bad, from a value perspective. We never mind paying for value, but this was not it and did not hit the mark for us.
