I went to this place because my friend recommended this location. I got the 5 pm appointment, and parking was tricky, but I parked at 30 mins parking spots because they told me its ok after 6 Pm. It was too late for a pedicure, but I asked for a dip for my hand nails. To make the story short, I asked for a much safer dip powder than gel, and we can avoid that UV light or whatever you call for it. She didn't use the dip top covering. Instead, she used the gel top method, which I disagreed with. Even I felt something wrong with her method, but she tried to convince me this would last longer. Usually, the dip stayed for three weeks, but she did a poor job, and it started chipping after three days. Since I have been traveling, that's why I couldn't go back and tell them. Please be careful if you are planning to do dip powder on your nails. read more

I was on the verge of having a nail break right at the quick, and had been thinking about a builder gel manicure for some time. Gave them a call, and they said to promptly come down. Easy drive down and parked right across the street. It's a cozy, intimate shop, but not crammed - the usual 3 manicure stations and 4(?) chairs, calming music and a little room for waxing. Settled into the chair and looked at the usual zillion color options before she started on my mani. I didn't catch her name (nor did she introduce herself), but my tech was gentle and meticulous in her e-file work on my nails and cuticles. There was the usual non-english chatter between the workers, but it seemed relaxed and not judge-y. She made sure i was happy with the shape, and adjusted without the subtle grumpiness of having to do more work that usually comes when you give feedback. Took about an hour start to finish, which seems good given there were six layers of cured polish along with nail and cuticle prep. No lotion on the hands/brief massage, which was a bit of a bummer, though. For a simple, gel-based manicure 2 days out? It's perfectly fine, there's nothing standout about the job done and there are a few places where the polish could be a bit more even/carefully applied but it was a job done just right and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. They take cards, but as always, pay in cash. Other people in the salon seemed relaxed and happy with their services. read more

I've tried this place a few times and never left completely satisfied. The lady never asked/checked if I was okay, typically people ask if the water temp is okay, what shape I'd prefer, what length I want my nails, if I'm satisfied with the paint job, but nothing. She also didn't seem to know how to properly massage with the hot stones, although I do appreciate the complimentary massage and the massage chair. The scrubbing of the dead skin was really short tho, I'd prefer the massage be cut shorter and they focus on the actual pedicure such as making sure the bottom of my feet are smooth. Another thing I noticed was that she didn't completely remove the old nail polish, I kept waiting but it never happened. Finally, the paint job itself was kind of bad, the edges are uneven and ridged, unsure if it's bad prep or the application. Also, there is clear coat on my skin that she never cleaned off also. It's been difficult finding a nail salon near my home since I moved from Berkeley. This place is close to my house so I'll probably still come as a last resort but will continue to drive across the bridge and try other salons if my experience here does not get better. read more

Indeed Hannah and the staff at 5 Star Nails are worth all 5 stars. Their work is impeccable and they start innovative with their techniques, which is how I ended up leaving my old nail salon for 5 Star in the first place! Rows and rows of gorgeous colors, a clean, open, fresh feeling facility and, super comfy & relaxing updated spa chairs make for some of the best pedicure time in the Bay Area. What's truly best about Hannah, Cindy, Hong and the entire team is that they are knowledgeable and flexible! Just came back from this place and I vow to never return again. I've been here at least 3 times and the service goes downhill everytime. The only good thing is you can probably get a same day appointment since they have at least 4-5 workers there. My experience: - Pedicure only lasted 20 minutes everytime I've gone. They didn't even offer the menu to select other packages like deluxe - "Massage" consisted of slapping lotion on, rubbing it down with a hot towel and called it a day - I did not have cash on me this one time and they asked me to go to the ATM machine. Other customers were able to use their card with an additional $5 charge so I offered to pay the extra for the convenience. They said no because it was just for a pedicure so I ended up going to Lucky's to use the bofa ATM machine - Unless you are a regular, be prepared to be treated like crap. They don't bother to help you put your shoes back on after the pedicure. You do it yourself - They don't apologize when they cut you with their tools tl;dr Look elsewhere. The workers here are clearly not happy with their jobs and taking it out on people. Oh, did I mention they talk shit about their customers? read more

I have come to this nail salon a handful of times. Every single time I leave very happy with my nails and eyebrows. The workers are very attentive and friendly. I would said that if you are in rush calling and making a point would be best. Parking can be tricky sometimes. And if you paid with cash they sometimes do a discount. read more

This is the best nail place around .. I am a flight attendant and I flew in for the day, called 5 Star Nail Spa and they got me right in for an appointment. When I arrived there was peaceful relaxing music playing in a very clean calming atmosphere after flying all day I was happy to be there. Hana gave me the best French Tip Hard Gel nails I have ever had ! Hana does the French tip freestyle. It turned out perfectly beautiful!! Hana was so kind caring beautiful and friendly she even stayed after closing for me and then her husband even give me a ride back to the crew hotel ! Wonderful experience! 5 star experience! This new salon is a HIDDEN treasure. The numbers on the buildings are so confusing that we almost couldn't find it. #directionchallenged It is on the street behind Lunardi's (not in the actual shopping center front side) so good luck in your quest. We made an appointment for pedis and were blown away. We were upgraded to the deluxe treatment which included your choice of various flavors (is that only for food?) of foot scrubs that smelled good enough to eat anyway and also paraffin wax which is good for softening up your skin and calluses. Also, we got the LONGEST foot massage ever. They have tons of polish color choices here too. The entire salon is brand new so the massage chairs are not old and worn like some places. I also saw them cleaning the equipment so this place is super clean. 100% return. $25 price tag for pedi which is super reasonable. Also, if you pay in cash a certain number of times you get a mark on a card and after a certain number you earn a free pedi. Gel mani is $30 - if I recall correctly and $32ish if you need polish removal Score! Pretty nails and great service. 5 stars - literally. read more

I walked in for a gel manicure. I haven't had my nails done in months, just natural nails. They were able to take me right away. My technician was so sweet but after leaving and getting a good look at my nails in the sun, I realized how poorly done they were. The polish was applied so thick that it had waves in several of my nails. I said to myself "from a distance, they're not that bad." Unfortunately, within 2 days they were chipping horribly and looked awful. I kept them for 1 week and went somewhere else to have it removed. read more

First of all, Very clean nice spa. The spa itself leaves a nice impression because of how clean it is inside. They are having a special $25 for a deluxe pedi, that includes a scrub. You get to pick what kind of flavor of scrub you want. I got mango guava which smells good. Basically you save yourself $13 with this promo. Nice massage nice spa, and very clean. Would come back. I had been searching for so long,…read moregoing through trial and error with other places, but I've never had someone deliver such noticeable results in just one session. At other clinics, I was often told my skin "needed a lot of work" and that it would take months of treatments before I'd see any kind of glow. Claudia completely changed that. I originally came in for a simple removal, and Claudia's kindness and professionalism instantly stood out. She was so sweet and welcoming that I decided to book a dermaplaning appointment with her. The booking process was easy, with plenty of open availability, which made everything stress-free. What really set Claudia apart is that she was the only skin care professional who actually talked to me about the internal causes of my skin issues -- like stress and anxiety -- instead of just trying to sell me on expensive products or medications. It was refreshing to have someone care about the root cause instead of pushing a prescription. When I came in for my appointment, I was blown away by the results. Not only did Claudia give me an incredible dermaplaning treatment, but she also fit me in last-minute to have my eyebrows waxed when I mentioned I hadn't had the time. My eyebrows have truly never looked better. After leaving her chair, I couldn't stop looking at myself. My skin was glowing, and my acne scars on the side of my face looked so much less noticeable. For the first time in a long time, I felt confident in my skin. I honestly couldn't believe the reflection staring back at me was my own. Claudia is amazing, and I couldn't recommend her more

I used to get my nails done here all the time but just stopped going to nail salons overtime so it was nice to see that the quality of their work hasn't gone down. I came in with some inspo pics of what I wanted and mentioned that I'm getting married later in the year so this was somewhat of a trial run. Helen took the time to talk me through what it would look like. Ultimately we decided to go with gold glitter tips which came out super nice! Not sure if I'll be doing these specific nails for the wedding but will def come back with a few more inspos to see what Helen is able to do. For $45 I appreciated the time and attention to details that Helen put in!
