We recently had Barragan Roofing make underlayment repairs to our front entrance as well as clean under the roof valley tiles and clean the gutters. Latesr update: weeks later the owner still Has not provided me with a receipt for my payment. I also had to hire another person to come out who instantly saw the problem on the roof that this company missed! I have photos to prove it (attached) and I'm requesting a refund in full. If I do not get a refund, I will take this company to small claims court. I have all the proof and documentation I need. MY NEW RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS REPLY TO THIS POST: As you will see in the attached photos the owner is lying. Thats what he does. MY ORIGINAL POST: Issue: Troubleshoot water leak dripping from the ceiling during a rainy day. He said he did the roof inspection and also looked in the attic. Once he was done he immediately asked for his payment of $350 by Zelle. I sent it and then asked him for a paid invoice (to read his written assessment and also to have proof that i paid). He never acknowledged my request for an invoice and I still havent received one a week later. (He could have text me a copy or asked for my email but he never replied to my request for an invoice). WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS DOES NOT PROVIDE A RECEIPT OR PAID INVOICE??????!! Later my uncle asked me if he actually even looked at the pipe filange seal on the roof as a possible leak source.. So i reached out and asked and he said he would go back to the house to look. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. I had to reach out repetitively and he kept saying he would go out each day and NEVER EVER DID. So after paying $350: He promised to show up to look at the pipe filange and did NOT. He has NOT provided me with a paid invoice or receipt. He did NOT Apologize for flaking each day He did NOT offer any refund. And yes, after a week of him flaking and not providing me with any assessment documentation or proof of payment still, i grew tired of being patient and polite and finally text him "i want a fucking receipt!!!". The wood shake roof section on my home was in such bad shape (see pictures attached) so I needed to get it replaced asap. I had a real great experience with these guys. First off, Noe the roofer showed up ON TIME for the estimate! Not only did he show up on time, he was the only roofer who actually INSPECTED the problem. He removed a few tiles and gave me a detailed explanation of the possible leak and what needs to be done and some other options. Two other roofers came, looked at the roof, and quoted me for a NEW roof, without as much as touching a tile! Noe replaced our flat roof because it was leaking. He thoroughly tested the work after it was done and found a smaller leak and discovered that the root cause was the plumbing from the roof. He fixed that too and tested it again. Leak gone. We were so impressed that we asked him to take a look at a different part of the roof which leaked during heavy rains. We fixed that problem by changing the angle of the pipe that drains away the water from that section. Noe is sincere and takes great pride in his work. I recommend him wholeheartedly. read more

As I sit here, a solar flare storm is pointing towards the earth and turning good ol' Sol's power up to 11 and it reminded me I'm overdue for telling the world the pleasant experience I had with Barragan Roofing to install my rooftop solar fans. You see, I live on the top of a hill with no shade and we have a south-facing roof. In addition, our air conditioner evaporator and ductwork is located in the attic. A few months ago I asked our AC service tech (whom I've reviewed before and will update) to see what was wrong with our unit. He said the unit is fine, but the attic temperature is about 150 degrees Fahrenheit, so effectively I'm cooling my ductwork and discharging warm air before it gets to the room. He noted that he has two solar fans because of that same issue. I tried calling one person (not reviewed) and he told me that he would only install electric-based fans and leave it to me to install the needed wiring. Yeah, no, I'll go ahead and pay someone who will do what I ask. I found Barragan Roofing on Yelp and he has five stars across the board. Usually a good sign. I called him and he immediately responded by phone and we set up a consultation for the next day. He came over and I told him what I was planning to do and asked on a couple of options. I'll put it bluntly, he knew how to answer the questions you should ask and he was really positive about what could be done. We went over the options for insulation and such, and I noted as an aside that my gutters had a low point and didn't drain. He said, "Oh, we'll do that too, no problem." And that was the entire experience of working with Noe. Noe Problem (Har!). I had delays with shipping, no problem, we'll reschedule. I needed another fan at Home Depot, no problem, he'd pick it up. We installed the first fan and we had a brief issue, his crew came over and fixed it no problem. It didn't matter how damn picky I was, it was no problem and he'd fix it. We finished our projects over about a week or so, we were in constant communication and he wanted to make sure I was happy with the job. The labor costs were very reasonable. But honestly, when you get work of this quality, I'm of a mind to pay a bit more. Especially on days like today when previously my air conditioner would be useless and costing me a fortune. Had a small gutter repair job where the very end of my gutter started to detach from the fascia. I actually had the same problem one year before this and had my GC "fix" the issue since his subcontractors had installed the gutters. I put "fix" in quotes because although I thought the GC had reattached the gutter properly, he had not. Instead of using galvanized gutter screws to attach the end of the aluminum gutter to the fascia the GC used a drywall screw. Further, the GC should have also used a galvanized hidden hanger near the gutter screw for additional support but he didn't. Finally, the GC did not caulk the hole where the original screw had fallen out so that water could get in behind the gutter and rot the fascia board. This time the gutter was fixed the right way because I called Barragan Roofing instead of the GC that had originally installed the gutters. I spoke with Noe and he had one of his workers come out for a same day estimate. The worker arrived early and when he saw the issue he offered me a reasonable price to fix it on the spot. He used the proper materials (even going to the store to get galvanized hidden hangers) and efficiently fixed the gutter. Now I can have peace of mind during the upcoming rains! Paid 50% when job started. Get constant call and text everyday (2am in the morning) for the remaining 50% payment even before final inspection is done. When I requested final inspection passing signature from city, he disclosed the inspection is actually not done yet. A few days later, he told me inspection is passing for roof. However, the inspector needs to inspect inside smoke detector before issuing passing certificate for roof which is very questionable. He requested the payment again under this condition with constant call and text even I told him I was out of country and there was timezone difference. A few days later, he told me city does not need inspect inside and roof is passing. Again requested for payment..... I did pay him right away after I arrived home and called city to validate the inspection is passing. They did start the job right away after 50% payment. read more

New Year's Eve 2022. Bomb cyclone/atmospheric river - whatever you want to call it, it was pouring and it caused leaks throughout the Bay Area. This review is a bit late (had work done in November 2019) but still completely valid. I loved the work that Barrangan Roofing had performed for us. We had a leaky roof (visible in the water coming into the bathroom) and Noe and crew were completely on it. He was completely professional and went right up to inspect the roof. We have a ceramic tile roof, and some estimators were scared to move the tiles around for fear of breaking the tiles. Not Noe - he knew exactly what to look for and made a very reasonable recommendation. What I really appreciated, though, was Noe's follow through. During the winter 2019 season, it was quite rainy. After the initial repair, we continued to have leaks. Noe fit us into his schedule with an emergency stopover and quickly figured out the actual source of the leak. I initially contacted Noe about to get any estimate for any roof repairs that I would need to do before going solar. He showed up about 25 minutes after my initial outreach (incredibly fast), walked the roof and told me what needed to be repaired, which was in line with what I had heard from other roofers. About a month later I reached out again (at 10pm) to have him come to do the repair. He and his guys arrived at 8:30am the next day and got right to work. The ridge on our roof had been made with cheap, single layer shingles. Noe explained the benefit of going with double thickness (lasts 20 yrs vs 10) which is what I had him installed. The constant rain from late December to mid-January finally was the last straw to my old roof, and it started leaking. I phoned Barragan roofing the next day, Noe came out within an hour to inspect. He determined I needed a totally new roof (which I suspected), and the next day his crew worked 13 hours to remove the old roof (and some rotted beams), and cover the entire area with tar paper so that it was rain-proof. Good old Menlo Park inspectors took quite a while to sign off to the point where the new asphalt shingles could be installed, however by that time new gutteres were installed and the roof had held through a couple more rain storms. While on the roof, Noe noticed the old, somewhat broken skylight covering the main bathroom and asked if I was interested in replacing it? He found one for a good price, and his crew replaced the old skylight with a much better new one in a matter of hours. Barragan's came out within a few hours after we called them on a Saturday, right before a big rain storm. We discussed the problem, and they fixed what they (and I) thought the problem was right away - a new hole in our roof put in by an electrician to install an electrical conduit. Unfortunately, when the next rainstorm came, the roof was still leaking. So I called another roofing company, and also asked Barragan's to come back. The other roofing company proposed sealing a large section of the roof for about $2500, but Barragan's guys came back, found the part that was leaking and patched it for $300. Had a small portion of our roof damaged due to high winds last year. Various contractors we spoke to said the only way they could do the repair was to replace the entire roof, or couldn't service for other reasons, but not Noe -- Noe was able to perform a partial repair just for the damaged area, and also identified and made other minor repairs/improvements in the process. Noe was professional, transparent, and able to schedule us for repair within a few days of the consultation.
