I originally found her through searching Massage Therapists who do deep tissue/rehabilitative massage. I had a repetitive stress injury in my right shoulder and was pretty desperate in getting some help. I also had started a new job and knew I could benefit from from more consistent massage therapy. Emily assessed my limited range of motion in the shoulder and addressed the muscles that needed the most work. I was quickly impressed with her knowledge and skill. I started seeing immediate results. Emily also had recommendations for stretching and strengthening certain muscle groups that needed it most. What I like about working with Emily is: she's extremely present in the work she does. For me, that means my recovery needs are being met. She's also professional, knowledgable, and caring. It's easy to tell that Emily is a person who values being of service. I now work with Emily every two weeks. I feel so fortunate and lucky to have the opportunity.

I had no idea where it was located…read moreand had it not been for me looking it up on Yelp, I likely would never have realized it was where it's at. The street sign is low and not obvious. I have driven by it hundreds of times and never seen it before. The store seems to be comparable to Whole Foods prices. A clerk saw me looking at the supplements and offered to help me. She knew exactly where the one I wanted was. I love checking out all the low sugar or no sugar snacks. I was surprised to not see any low carb tortillas though. I bought some organic spices and pork chorizo. The spices were about $1-2 more than organic herbs and spices sold on regular grocery stores. The produce looked really nice. The Romaine lettuce was big, leafy and fresh looking for $3.99; the same price I paid for non-organic and subpar product at Red Barn Market that is close to me. It's a great little store to check out.

The produce section is usually solid, and I especially want to shout out the gentleman in charge of produce--he's consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and always great to talk to. That kind of service really stands out. That said, my experiences with staff have been mixed. Some employees are kind and helpful, but others can come off as unfriendly or impatient. I'm diabetic, so I often ask detailed questions when nutritional information isn't clearly listed, especially at the juice/smoothie bar. Unfortunately, the people working there don't always seem knowledgeable about protein amounts, milk options, or fruit content, and a few times the attitude felt dismissive rather than helpful. I've also noticed that the hot bar food isn't always kept at proper temperature, which is concerning, especially for a place that emphasizes health and quality. Overall, Lassens has a lot of potential and some genuinely great employees, but consistency is an issue. Better staff training--especially around nutrition knowledge and customer service--would really improve the experience.

Over the years I have gotten treatment for various issues from Nathan and this review is overdue…read more In the last treatment I had eczema on my face which was itchy, uncomfortable and of course visually not pleasing. He gave me an amazing topical cream that cleared it up in 2 days as well as herbs internally to stop it from recurring. It has not recurred since...that was 4 months ago. A year ago I had a bicycle accident and had very bad scrapes on my face and elbow and hands. Nathan gave me a powder that I mixed with water to put on the wounds. It healed the wounds quickly and also kept them from getting infected, without having to deal with bandages and antibiotic creams. And last but not least I was on a course of herbal treatment for the beginnings of arthritis in the middle fingers. I work with my hands and I really did not want it to progress...to my delight the condition went away and never returned....that was about 5 years ago. Nathan is thorough, has a wealth of knowledge, and is very dedicated to his work.

He was recommended to me as "the best" by a trusted somatic practitioner. His work is his passion--he really devotes most of his life to studying plants, herbs and holistic healing. And it is obvious that he cares deeply for his patients. (He also practices what he preaches, which is always nice too.) His psycho-spiritual background and education is invaluable for those whose pain or ailments have roots in trauma. He is also incredibly knowledgably in an array of spiritually- and psychologically-minded information that he freely shares. This can be very valuable to the healing/learning process. In this vein, his intuition is a major plus and has been very right-on. And his words often feel like messages from beyond meant just for me, which carry their own healing and are unlike work with any other practitioner. I love that his personality is easy-going and gentle, not at all pushy or ego-filled. He really takes time with you as well. I also respect that Dr. Kaehler is realistic and honest with you. He doesn't promise miracles, and he doesn't sell you a bill of goods before he gets to know you or your system. His approach is about keeping things in balance, getting to the roots of illness, and doing slow, steady healing (at least for complicated & sensitive cases like me) -- which can be hard, because we're impatient to heal, but I think he has the right idea. As for results, I wouldn't judge based on me, as I am an extreme case with deep-set chronic illnesses and major trauma history. But, I am in a better place now, and I have had some significant gains. It all came very slow and steady. In the least, this is the first practitioner who hasn't pushed any of my various conditions out of whack, which often happened with prior doctors/acupuncturists who'd help one thing but make another worse. He has also been successful at giving me acupuncture attuned to what my body can handle, whereas other acupuncturists would do a too-strong treatment, or help one thing but throw another out of whack. I don't exaggerate to say that I am blessed to have him as my doctor, and I am a better person for knowing him.

It gives you the freedom to taste everything at your own pace. You order the tasting first, then they give you a tray with delicious sourdough bread from a local bakery. The staff explained that the balsamic vinegars are imported, while all of their olive oils are produced in-house, except for the truffle oil since the local soil isn't suitable for growing truffles. After that, you head over to the tasting section where you can grab samplers of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars before finding a seat outside under the olive trees. The space itself is beautiful and peaceful. There were around 10 olive oils and 10 balsamic vinegars to try. My favorites were the TH (Tuscan Herbs) olive oil and the traditional balsamic. The flavored balsamics were interesting and fun to taste, though I still personally preferred the classic options. Overall, such a fun and worthwhile stop if you're in the Ojai area. Paid $20 for two people. Also, bonus points because they happily give extra sourdough bread if you need more :)

We wanted a fun activity and saw an Instagram video of the experience. Overall, the tasting was super fun! Got to mix/match diff oils and vinegars and play around with the options. Ended up buying two of our favorites. One thing to note - They used to have cute wood boards with clear markings of the different types of offerings so that you could keep track more easily and it sounds like from the attendant they are bringing those back again (by popular demand). It certainly would be more aesthetically pleasing than a black plastic cafeteria tray. The bread served on our particular day was also a bit too hard so the inside pieces would crumble a lot. We were able to ask for another piece so that we could use the sturdier outside areas and they were gracious with that. However, for $20 really can't complain! With a few minor updates to the board/bread, they could prob sell this experience for far more $ and get more visitors! :)
