I am so blown away by this amazing studio! The staff are so kind, professional, and considerate of clients. The inside of the studio is modern and sleek. It smells extremely clean and the music is at a perfect volume, not too loud or quiet. It's a really calming environment. When you arrive, you'll need to ring a doorbell to go inside for your appointment. My appointment covered quite a few things. I downsized jewelry in 3 piercings, and got three vertical helixes in one go. Ryan talked to me in depth at the beginning to ensure we were on the same page regarding expectations of anatomy and healing. He was not shy to be direct about his suggestions, but his demeanor is actually really sweet overall. I appreciate that he operates very cautiously to ensure great healing. He considered my glasses, sleep position, and lifestyle during our discussion. You can tell he is passionate about his craft and takes the safety of clients very seriously. He also gave me an estimate/invoice of what things would cost, which may seem like it isn't a big deal but it's SO considerate to clients. It seems like one of those things that should be standard, but I've never had a piercing shop ask me if the price was okay with me before. He asked genuinely and without judgement. To me, it was a gigantic green flag that this shop actually cares about the client's financial expectations and will help them understand price breakdown. Ryan was extremely gentle during my procedure and very patient with how much I talked due to being nervous. He had suggestions about placement, but ultimately didn't mind that I wanted the markings a bit further apart. He was also patient that my pain tolerance is a little bit low these days and I had to grumble a little when the jewelry went in. The best part about choosing Ember was how much I learned about how to heal a piercing correctly. I've never received aftercare that mentioned how piercings can change angle if they're bumped and manipulated. Ryan even shared some good information for me on how to help healing with dry skin. Zoe at the front desk is also a total sweetheart in every way. She was helpful to me over text when I was running late to my first consultation, and she also helped me out with the right tip amount for my appointment. The customer service here is absolutely incredible and Zoe is half of it! Everyone deserves to have such a wonderful experience for their procedures. I just finished up my appointment at Ember for my ear lobe piercings that I've had since I was a kid but have been giving me issues as an adult, and I couldn't be happier with the experience!The studio is impeccably clean and Ryan was super welcoming and friendly! I booked a piercing consultation with Ryan and he was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to listen to my piercing issues and explain his thoughts on why they were happening. His advice was (after evaluating my ears) to stretch them and put placeholder earrings in for a few months to ensure my ears heal and the piercings don't close. He asked me about my end goals, earrings I was wearing and had a full selection of jewelry for me to choose from. He even helped with jewelry selection on what would look best for me. Upon arriving I was greeted kindly, I filled out waivers, and was taken back to talk about the piercing I wanted. The shop was very clean, stylish and calming. I appreciated Ryan's expertise, going over my anatomy and letting me know which jewelry would and wouldn't work well for my piercing. Ryan's bedside manners were second to none, everything was explained as it was happening and he is excellent at what he does. It's a piercing, it hurts, but it was over quickly and the placement was perfect. I have found the only spot I will be going for piercings in the future. Unfortunately, had an unpleasant experience and left our appointment before even signing our waivers. We had an appointment for 3 piercings made online for 1pm. We ran 5 minutes behind our appointment and I called Ember at 12:47pm to let them know we were running 5 minutes late . Over the phone I was told if we arrive 15 minutes late we would have to give up one of the piercings due to time restrictions. I said "I understand" as we were running behind and that's our fault Once we arrived at 1:05 we were received by Zoe and it was NOT a welcome. I understand we were late. I gave a courtesy call. I understood I might have to give up my piercing time due to time constraints, but the demeanor we got from her upon arrival and the passive aggressive way she spoke to us and our friend who wanted to purchase some jewelry was upsetting. My friends were uncomfortable and I wasn't willing to have a business pierce my body, something very intimate to me, with this kind of reception/vibe. We were ready to spend at least $300 a person on our piercing and jewelry and instead we left with our $600 and tried to change our energy after that strange interaction with Zoe. We left the parking lot by 1:11... so instead of giving up 1 piercing we all took our business elsewhere. Update to Ryan's excuse written below: Ryan...the environment was off upon arrival once we were walked through the door. It became increasingly more uncomfortable as Zoe took us into the jewelry room. I can only speak for myself and my friends but I want to be welcomed and comfortable when body modifying. I feel giving the courtesy call that we were running late was received with annoyance rather than patience Zoe put her head down when we stated we were uncomfortable and wanted to leave. Steven at Relic is absolutely a 10 out of 10. I've been following him on Instagram for about two years waiting for the right moment for his books to open. I booked with him about 5 months out when they finally opened. I was wanting to get some fine line floral half sleeve with some dead space banding on my forearm. When I got to my appointment, we talked about what I was wanting, but ultimately gave him the ability to do whatever - because I trusted him based off everything I've seen. He basically knew what I wanted without me having to explain much at all - we were basically on the same page. I flew from WA to get a tattoo by him and I don't think I will ever get tattoos from anyone else at this point. My tattoo turned out exactly what I imagined. It is literally perfect and so well done. My experience was the best experience I've had at a tattoo studio. We kept conversation, I was able to stay comfortable, and I felt like I was actually someone who was appreciated. I was there for about 6 hours of tattooing, and it honestly flew by because of the natural flow of conversing and just having an overall great experience. Besides Steven being awesome, his staff was friendly, made conversation and made you feel like part of their clan for the time being there. This studio is absolutely amazing. Period. I had wanted a daith piercing for ages, and after doing my online research, I was very happy to book with Ember. The online booking process was simple yet personalized. When I showed up for my appointment, I was greeted by both Ryan (expert piercer) and Zoe (jewelry consultant and all around badass person to interact with). The first thing Ryan did was to look at the anatomy of my ear, and immediately let me know that the ear I wanted the daith piercing on was not compatible. I loved the honesty; he'd rather me walk away from the piercing I wanted than do it against his better judgement. I had several other piercings I wanted as a backup, so I chose a helix piercing and the jewelry that Zoe showed me to choose from was perfect. Okay, now to mention the Zen atmosphere of this studio. It is calm, with soothing music and candles, and very little clutter or stressors. I felt more like I was at a spa than a piercing parlor. Ryan calmly talked me through every step of the piercing and honestly, I was so chill by the end of it that I barely registered any pain whatsoever. Very good experience! Had complications with a helix piercing, so I made an appointment with Ryan to see what I could do and to put in other jewelry I owned. The appointment scheduling was seriously easy and hassle-free, and I appreciate that they gave info about how long your appointment would be. My helix jewelry change was estimated to be 25 mins, and took shorter than that. When you enter, there's a QR code you scan with your phone for contactless sign-in. They said I didn't need it for my appointment but it was good to see their commitment to sanitary operations!! From there, I sat in the waiting area which was very clean. For now, Relic doesn't let you bring people along for your appointment, so I bet that had something to do with the very low amount of people inside (2-3 customers max). As for the actual appointment, Ryan was very nice and transparent through the whole process. He took my jewelry and cleaned it, then I lay down on a (freshly sanitized) bed where he took a look at my helix. Admittedly, I did NOT do a good job caring for the piercing when it healed a few months before coming to Ryan, but he was very transparent and gave me advice about moving forward in healing. In the end, we got the jewelry in, and he didn't even charge me a cent since I came with my own jewelry. Would definitely come back! read more

Been going to Ryan since he was at Higher Ground. Got to finally check out his new shop, Relic Body Arts. The shop is immaculately clean, sleek, modern and airy. Definitely an upgrade from the last shop! Today I got a triple forward helix piercing and no lie, was feeling nervous to get 3 cartilage piercings at once. Ryan has a solid reputation for his attention to detail, cleanliness, and super knowledge when it comes to all types of body piercings, so as soon as he began talking to me about the process and what to expect, my nerves faded away. Ryan is very patient and genuinely cares about your vision. We took a good 30 minutes to narrow down jewelry and prep/sanitize all the tools and I jewelry. The entire process from start to finish took an hour. Ryan took measurements and carefully marked where the piercing locations would go. The actual piercing process was not as painful as I thought! It was just three quick shots of pain, I rate the pain a 2.5/10 scale. I recieved a 6 page aftercare packet in addition to verbal tips and recommendations for care. He also offered me his cell number and informed me to text him anytime shall I have any complications. I am thrilled with my new piercings and can't wait to come back again! read more

Just got two rook piercings done by Ryan and I am thoroughly impressed; not only by his honesty and dedication to making sure I was satisfied as a customer, but of his love for his profession. He took excellent care into making sure I was comfortable with what I was getting, as I originally came in for an industrial but he informed me that I did not have the right ear shape for (which I am okay with!) and then suggested I get a rook. If you don't care to read the whole story, here's a synopsis: Steven Jackson is a wonderful, kind, tattooing wizard and the people at the shop WILL sing happy birthday. Full story: I went in for my first tattoo yesterday, and I'll be honest, I was crazy nervous. Honestly, I was surprised I hadn't chickened our days before. You know how people tell you to listen to your gut? Well, my gut said yes, but my brain was freaking out so I had a real hard time hearing it. Thankfully, chickening our is not what ended up happening. The shop itself had a really positive, welcoming, and calming atmosphere. Then I met my artist Steven, and for some reason all of my tattoo related anxiety went away. He is awesome with explaining everything that's about to go down, he asked really good questions about what I liked about my reference photos so that he could sketch something up, and then through the design process had some fantastic suggestions about adding some details that I totally would never have thought of. He also told me when and where he was going to start first so there were no surprise needles. Then he'd check in with me every once in a while, make sure I wasn't dying. Or full of hatred. Soon enough he finished and I have a really cool tattoo that I am in love with! And then at the end of the day, the rest of the people in the shop sang me that fast Happy Birthday song you hear at restaurants sometimes.
