One sign of a good business is their attention to customer requests and how they handle customer complaints. This company needs help with both. Emerald Lawns is owned by someone who is generous enough to offer a discount to neighbors. I've used their services on a limited basis in the past (not necessarily with great results) but decided to ask them to do a one-time treatment for a grassy weed that had caused problems in my lawn in recent years. I e-mailed the company late last year for a quote for this specifically and was told the service (which included a pre-emergent and spraying for existing weeds) would be performed in February. The treatment was done and watered it in as I was told. We then we went on a road trip. When we returned 18 days later, the broadleaf weeds were far worse than when we left, and there was no improvement to the Poa grass; it was as bad as ever. I e-mailed the company and provided photos of a few of the weeds, but was told by a customer service manager that, unless I had a 6- or 8-treatment annual plan, there would be no resprays and I'd have to pay the full amount to re-treat my lawn. I was told that the weeds I'd photographed must have already germinated (but missed) when the treatment and weed spraying were originally done. Interestingly, I'd recommended that a friend get the same lawn treatment I got, and she had the same weed issues after Emerald sprayed. But she was able to get a respray without additional payment. Coincidentally, days later, I received an e-mail (that suggested I'd terminated Emerald's services) from Emerald's resolution manager, so decided to call her. Several phone calls and several e-mails later, resprays were still refused, and I heard the same company line. Several times during phone calls, I was told to sign up for an annual plan so I could get the weeds sprayed and then cancel the plan. I thought this ridiculous and not customer-oriented. Out of frustration, I sprayed the broadleaf weeds myself that evening. The next day, a respray was finally offered. I turned it down. This is clearly a company that is doing its best to get you signed up for a plan that includes spraying 6-8 times a year vs one-time treatments they claim won't do the job. Emerald showed me that 1) they didn't listen to what I requested in the first place (to treat for the Poa annua) and 2) their one-time treatments seem designed to fail, and are used to sign customers up for longer-term plans. They've given me no reason to use their services again. YMMV. read more

Timothy Gauthier came out today and performed one of our Spring Lawn Care services. He took his time and did a thorough job of spraying a liquid solution that contains fertilizer and grub control. In addition, Tim also sprayed the weeds around our entire acre and treated a fungus area at the back of our lawn. After completing the service he proactively set up a 2 week follow-up service call! Emerald Lawn has been our preferred Lawn Service Company for over 9 years now and we continue to be very pleased with their team. Wanting to leave a review for the services we received Today from Emerald lawns. We had had their services for years And we're very satisfied. Unfortunately, as we aged, our fixed income didn't seem to support the continuation so we stopped services a year ago.and our lawn deteriorated significantly. I texted them a note to start services again, and the very next day we had an estimate in hand. Zach listened to us very carefully and made recommendations based on our lawns needs, and our financially needs. He was very professional and courteous. We have started services again, essentially weed and feed, and of course, to negate grubs and those type of things from our soil. Today our service started, and two employees of Emerald came by. They always stop by the front door and knock and let us know they are here, as we have a dog. It appears that Natalie may be a newer employee, and I was delighted to see a female on the Emerald Service Team. Both team members were very professional and very courteous and did a great job. I specifically want to give Natalie kudos as I believe she's in training and Emerald sent us a note, asking us to rate her performance. On three separate occasions I have asked them to treat the weeds along the street. My HOA issues a citation if they are not treated. Today I received a citation. Today, at age 72 and weighing in at 115 pounds I carried a propane tank and a blow torch and treated the weeds myself. Thank you Emerald Lawns!!! read more

I'm surprised by these positive reviews. I've now tried working with this company 2 separate times, in 2023 and now, and both times have had a bad customer service experience. The first time was simply the lack of education on their services and the entire process. At my initial consultation they informed me that the services are best when performed within X days of mowing my lawn, so I told them I'd like knowing in advance when they are coming so I can ensure my lawn is mowed prior. They would never do this. They would show up unannounced, often days before my lawn was scheduled to be mowed, so their treatments would then just sit on top of the long grass. I tried correcting this behavior numerous times, and they still kept doing it. It was impossible to talk with someone of authority about this, so I ended up cancelling. Fast forward to today, I again see the gleaming reviews so thought I would try again. This time however they are just not responsive. I put in my initial inquiry on their website, and someone named Zach reached out shortly after to discuss coming to check out my lawn. After that initial text he stopped replying and blamed it on his messages "not going through". However, he kept doing this, so it isn't a glitch. It's an excuse. I then decided to email them to let them know I'm having issues again with simple customer service and response. They responded stating a manager would reach out, and no one ever did unless they called and did not leave a voicemail. I've since emailed them numerous times asking when a manager will reach out again and am either getting ignored or getting the run-around. It's very obvious this business has grown so large that their customer service is now outsourced and it's no longer "about the customer". After a few texts to answer my questions, I was sent a quote & was able to sign up online. In the next few days I was scheduled for services & received text updates. Paid a lot to have the yard top dressed, and they wouldn't give an absolute day/time they would be out. I had to keep reaching out. They finally came out and did a terrible job, and I spoke to the sales gu,y he had them come back out, and they didn't really fix the job and talked crap about having to come back out. Reach back out again and asked for a partial refund so we could do it ourselves, an a Supervisor named Nick called and came out. Nick said they would be back out. He asked us to send him a video from our cameras showing they didn't level so we did; He said if we could show that, he would be happy to give us a refund. However, he stated they would be out within the next few days, and lo and behold, there were more excuses as to why they couldn't come out..truck broke down, etc, etc. Having yard top dress requires you to cut the lawn really low, and in the heat, we can't keep doing that just to find out they aren't coming. We reached out to Nick and let him know we would just go and get the sand and do it ourselves and they could refund us. Since then, we have been ignored. In my opinion, COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I will make sure to spread the word that this company does a half ass job and is just looking to get paid, whether they do the job correctly or not! We've used Emerald Lawns for years. We have the 6 applications plus free retreats. We use them on 3 properties and have decided to switch to someone else after reviving HOA notices for weeds. But we have a weed company! Then what are we paying for? An email from a manager stated: All in all, I hate to see we've lost your business, but the way your program coverage was set up, along with the cultural practice issues, wasn't going to guarantee you the results our service is capable of. She was blaming mowing and watering and a gap in service on the weeds. The home is mowed bi weekly and the sprinkler is automatic and monitored by us (this home is a rental home with tenants in it) I'm starting to wonder if weed companies are like cable/internet. You know you need them, but they all kind of stink. We'll see. The new company is claiming to do much better, use better products, and so far the customer service is exceptional. read more

No communication. Showed up at 7:20 am when our HOA doesn't allow yard work before 8:00 am. Tried to talk to technician, and his answer was "it is almost 8". Called office, they blamed me. Said there was a reason he was there early, but I didn't want to listen. Also, pump truck was pulled down my driveway when all other times, the tech left the truck on the road and pulled the hoses where they needed to go. The pump truck was parked in my driveway near my neighbor's bedroom window. She has cancer and had a chemo treatment the day before. I purchased top dressing service and was not happy with the initial result. There were a lot of bare spots because it was applied unevenly. The branch manager reached and set up an appointment to view the top dressing installed. After visiting he scheduled a follow up top dressing service at no cost to focus on the bare spots left behind. That service is now complete and very happy with the current outcome. Not a lot of company's out there care or read the bad reviews left by customers much less address issues. I will update my review based on the success of the service going forward *** I have been a customer of Emerald Lawn for over 10 years because I prefer to support small local businesses. Last last year they were sold to a corporate buyer and the service took a dramatic downturn. This year my weeds are out of control far worse than any previous year. They came back and did a re-spray and told me I just need to mow my yard. I did that and they came back twice as bad within two weeks. They claim they do multiple pre-emergent treatments at various times throughout the year but I see no evidence of that. Discussions in my neighborhood Facebook groups reinforced my opinion as many other people expressed considerable disappointment with Emerald over the last year. I texted them that I was unhappy and I was going to suspend my service. All I got back was a comment stating they would cancel my account - no concern as to why or any attempt to address my concerns. I'm now looking for a local small business that understands the value of good customer service Aaron- yesterday I texted to the number I communicate with for someone to have the Owner call me. Their response was "Please call the office at 512-990-2199 and they will assist you. We were bought out by a corporation a year ago". read more

Terrible follow-up! Had them come out and remeasure my yard and the overall general condition. The Technician was knowledgeable but the follow up after he measured the yard which went from 7200 ft.² to 5200 ft.² which was down from the first time they remeasured it from 7700 ft.² I have them now five times to get this straightened out and it falls on deaf ears getting the bill straight. attention to detail with customers, at least with me is awful! in terms of value, I don't notice any difference with the applications, including the liquid aeration before and after, even at my prior address, which I used them for two years on established lawn, so I don't know the value with this particular company at this time. Avoid this company for your lawn service. Used them for over a year and had a fairly comprehensive service (lawn, pest control, grub control, ant control). Finally fired them after complaining several times about the mass of weeds in our yard some of which were a foot high. We had asked to be pre-notified of their visits because of large dogs we own and have in our back yard. They did not typically do this. Given our back yard had more weeds than the vacant lots in the area, we suspect that the individual sent to do the service did not go into our back yard, but we still got billed for the service. After the third written complaint, I received a notice that they would send a quality control person to inspect. This individual never showed up. Had enough and engaged another company who promptly came and addressed all of the issues left behind by Emerald. read more

We started service with Emerald a few months ago hoping to bring our yard back from last summer's drought and the City of Georgetown locking us down on watering AT ALL for the absolute worst months of the year. So far we have seen a drastic improvement! They communicate well and always explain everything that's happening. Today Ryean came out to do an irrigation system check and I'm glad he did! He found a few cracked pipes from when we had dead plants removed (not Emerald). I probably wouldn't have noticed. He'll be back in a couple of days to repair it. After a cancellation and reschedule (they called one hour after the scheduled appt time to reschedule for the next day) the "supervisor", Curtis came out ti check out my lawn to see what's going on. I have about ten dark green spots approx 12"x12" and the rest of the grass looks bright green with some tan very thin spots. This has not happened before and I've had the grass for three years. Also, the grass looked better last year and we didn't have any spring time rain like this year. It appears to be lacking nutrients (which I just paid $140 to them May 20th). The supervisor looked at the lawn and said, well honestly this is beautiful grass. It's way better than the lawns I have seen this year. So I asked to explain why the rest of the grass isn't the color of the dark green spots. He stated that they were just low areas that pooled water... The grass was even in those spots. So, I pointed to an area that was actually a low spot and the grass was barely there/bright green/tan and asked well how would you explain this spot then? Isn't it supposed to be dark green because it's low and should have pooled water? He proceeded to say that nothing was wrong with my lawn and did not suggest anything. I informed him that they are a lawn care service and supposed to fix problems, especially if the person paying for the service is not satisfied with their lawn. He simply said, well I don't see a problem with it. Emerald Lawns is just trying to get your money. Do your own research, water your lawn and save your money. read more
