Sandy is our 3 year old energetic golden retriever pup and she had a blast during her first day! I was apprehensive as a Dog Mom to leave her for 8 hours while away at work (just because) but the staff at Escape the Crate were amazing and comforting! Sandy was checked in and didn't seem to mind leaving my side. While at work, I received photos and an update, as well as a link to watch the webcams. It was nice to see Sandy playing with other dogs. During pick up, I was greeted with a happy and tired girl. The price is great for a daycare stay and I will definitely be back with Sandy! read more

I have been taking my dog to Escape the Crate Joplin for over a year. We drive all the way from Kuna because my pup loves day school so much! We have seen lots of changes since new ownership, mostly positive. However I was blown away this morning of their new policy. Starting today (9/12/23) a strict 6 months neuter policy. Besides the fact that neutering your dog at 6 months has detrimental affects there is no grace period. I plan on neutering my dog after 1.5 years but I am highly likely not going to bring my dog bs k and support a company with policies that are unhealthy for dogs. Escape the Crate was one of the only non-vet associated boarding/daycare/training facilities that allowed non-neutered dogs but I guess they no longer want to have our business. So disappointed. read more

Our dog was traumatized here. He looked really sad and it just seemed like something was off. When I picked him up and went into the back to help the gal with his food bin, it wreaked of bleach! I could taste it in my throat and it burned my eyes. Our boy stunk of bleach, his fur and blanket. They also made so many admin mistakes during the stay. I wish I toured. The old owner from 9 years ago was the best. New ownership now. Terrible!!! read more

They are wonderful! Our dog is usually very shy around other dogs. We feel like this facility takes care of our dog and meets all the needs from daycare to boarding. They are our go to place after sending our dog to our vet to be boarded for a week and she didn't eat more than a cup of her food. read more

My dog came home with kennel cough. I wasn't notified about any coughing or other health issues while she was at the facility so when she started coughing when we got home it was concerning. Took her to the vet the next morning for confirmation. I haven't gotten a report card or any photos of my girl during her visit either. I know that good help is hard to find, but this is supposed to be part of the services I'm paying for. However, with this being said, my dog seemed happy with her stay. read more

We boarded our two dogs at Escape on Joplin in the summer of 2019 while we were out of state for 5 days. Bear stayed in private boarding and Inka was in daycare during the day. This was their first stay with Escape and we were extremely excited for Inka to have lots of play time and socialization which she just loves. Unfortunately, on the 2nd morning, we got a call that there had been an incident during group play and that she had been attacked by another dog and left with a 3" gash on her ribs. (Thankfully that dog is not allowed back.) Aaron (the onsite supervisor) took her to our vet to get stitched up and medicated. She then had to stay in isolation and on sedatives and pain killers. (We were told by Escape it was a flap of skin that had to be stitched but found out from our follow-up visit with the vet that the dog had actually torn into her muscle too, so there were internal and external stitches.) A couple days after that she was allowed in the private care area with a couple older dogs but wasn't able to play (and isn't allowed for at least 14 days) - and Bear didn't get to be with his sister during his private care play time. Escape picked up the vet bills, which is a given. When we picked both dogs up after getting back into town, we were told to pay the full amount of their stay. I said I had no problem paying for Bear's stay but requested someone call me to discuss Inka's. When I spoke to Aaron, I said I'd be happy to pay for the 1.5 days Inka had there with play time but that was it. He checked with the owner, Michelle, and let me know they would comp the rest. I still cannot believe we were initially asked to pay the full amount. One of the main reasons we boarded them with Escape is because of the live feeds advertised on their website. But their cameras were mislabeled, didn't work half the time and the private care area was never even displayed. Not once did we get to see Bear during our 5 days away and we only saw Inka the first 1.5 days. I did request a picture of her and her wound though and was emailed that. Also, when watching the feeds when they did work, several times the staff members in the play areas were glued to their phones instead of interacting with the dogs. When we got home after picking up both our babies, we checked their remaining food bags. We packed them each 2 extra days of food just in case, but upon counting their remaining bags (labeled a.m. and p.m.) we found that Inka had 7 bags of food left and Bear had 2. We never got an answer as to why that happened but it would seem Bear was overfed and Inka was underfed - both by quite a bit. We were very excited for both dogs to stay with Escape, especially Inka for some much needed play time and valuable socialization. Instead she was attacked, had to stay in isolation and her spirits have fallen. Inka was the happiest, sweetest, easiest going dog I've ever known, so that just kills us. We never heard from Michelle the owner. Not once did she call or email us to check on Inka. We gave Escape another chance in June of 2020 and placed Bear in private care boarding for 4 days. Upon arriving home after Bear's stay, I discovered they messed up his feedings (again - even though I portioned out and labelled his meals) and did not give him the approved Chuck-it Ball I sent with him to give him something to do while in his kennel alone. I emailed Michelle directly, who proceeded to lie immediately. Her response was that Bear was given his ball but showed no interest in it, not did he have any interest in the play yard toys. I sent her a screenshot of his 'report card' which states the exact opposite. She brushed off the meals incident without apology. I made it as simple as I could for them with his meals and they still got it wrong. These are small but important issues. I look forward to finding an honest boarding facility who actually cares about dogs and their well-being. read more

Horrible customer service. They NEVER answer the phone and don't return phone calls. Even though I had been a customer for a year, they were horrible on the phone to me when I asked to schedule Meet n Greet. Will not go back! It's too bad because I have recommended them in the past but will not recommend them again. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE, they say they care but they really don't if you're fur baby doesn't get along with other dogs and needs to be separated in "private care" they won't allow you dog to go there unless they are staying the night which was a huge mistake we did, due to poor supervision my dogs were taken into the private care while another dog was in there whom also doesn't get along with other animals and a fight broke out, my dog ended with a HUGE lump on her neck and deep scratches all over and no one I mean no one told me about it I only knew dude to the glitchy cameras they have. Save yourself then stress of working with these "animal lovers" cause they will change their mind on yes bring your dog no you can't bring your dog etc..... read more

The entire staff is awesome. They certainly know how to treat the dogs as if they are their own. Michelle has gone to great lengths the ensure a safe and fun environment for our pups. I've watched escape evolve over the years, and each year seems to bring more strength and knowledge to running a daycare/boarding and training program so we can rest easy while our pups romp and play. The staff is well trained and shows a great deal of love and commitment to what they do. I've lived in several big cities and small towns in the past several years, exposed my dog to larger and smaller daycare environments, and escape is definitely on top of their game. We were so glad to be back in Boise and have a daycare we feel confident about and never worry about our pup while he is in their hands. Hats off to the staff, especially Josh who really takes it a step further, Something I feel is important to our pups.....he showers them with love, lots of pets, and personal attention. My husband and I brought our golden to Escape immediately after they opened the Joplin location, over 8 years ago. We loved Michelle and how she ran her business. You could tell she loved all the dogs and her passion was giving her pet owners and their pets the best experience ever. And then fast forward to January 2023 when Michelle sold her business to Destination Pet. The vibe was immediately different. We didn't feel the love anymore. Driving up on the facility, it looked abandoned and overrun with weeds - which has since been cleaned up, thank goodness. One of the workers indicated that several of them had reached out to Destination to alert them to the conditions, to no avail. It's unfortunate that a place that we and our dog loved for many years was allowed to be neglected and swallowed up by a corporate giant that clearly doesn't care. Needless to say, we and many other Escape families have regretfully migrated to Idaho Dog Park. Many Escape workers have done the same. Idaho Dog Park is an awesome place, and our dog comes home smiling and happy! read more

This is the only place I'll ever leave my dogs for boarding or daycare! The owners are always around and they must take really good care of their employees because they are always so pleasant and seem to have very little turnover. The employees know and love my dog, and I always appreciate getting reports on their behavior and hearing funny stories when I pick them up. My female dog's behavior has improved dramatically since she started here. Not only does she get to socialize and burn off extra energy, she gets reinforcement of commands and manners and has been more consistent in these at home. Thank you Escape! read more
