Bentley is 8 years old and has been lethargic lately. He sounds hoarse when he barks and has gastrointestinal symptoms. He's been so miserable that we brought him here. We waited about an hour and 45 minutes. The veterinarian was personable and examined Bentley. He provided 2 options to determine a diagnosis. We decided to have x-rays, blood and fecal tests, etc. to obtain a diagnosis. It took another hour and a half of waiting for the process completion. The cost was pretty steep at $965; however, I can't imagine not doing everything I can to help one of my dogs who becomes ill. I care deeply for them (I have 2 dogs) and vowed to care for them when I got them. Some would call me crazy but that's how I feel. I'm committed to helping them whenever possible. The good news is the tests are negative. Bent has food allergies and tracheotomy issues. We are going to put a body collar on him and remove everything from around his neck. I am then going to change his diet to ensure no foods are included that cause allergy issues for him. He's allergic to fowl, kibble, and particular treats. He was prescribed probiotics and metronidazole. I'm looking forward to helping him heal. Needless to say, I'm glad he's going to be okay. read more

Caring and knowledgable staff; I was waiting for approx 3 hours in the exam room alone & fell asleep on the bench seat waiting for the doc. I understand the priority scale but the 4+hour time frame from start to finish is frustrating especially when it didn't seem busy. The front desk was quick to start the check in process and get Freddie back immediately due to the level of his possible critical condition and the tech/staff member that called me before I arrived to explain that his symptoms were considered emergent and he needed to be seen right away. Communication & response from the staff before & when I arrived is why I gave 5 stars. Highly recommend! read more

Very caring and thorough. Very tough info to provide and they stayed with me for a great deal of time to explain everything. Also, while waiting on results, etc. they constantly came to check to see that Pearl and I were ok. The tech (I don't remember her name) - but I would like to thank her for her caring and compassion, her constant checking on Pearl and I to make sure we were ok. She also took all of the info and presented to the Dr. which was very concise and complete. Dr. Rodriquez was also great - she was also compassionate and thorough. Never made me feel like she needed to move on - she talked in terms I understood and gave info on what she was going to do and diagnosis. I thank her for being so compassionate and waiting until I was able to stop crying before she proceeded. Thank you to both of these women - I can't say enough good about them and would definitely come back again. The care of the Tech (you could feel her compassion and love of animals - especially knowing what was being told to me. The Dr. was clear in her plans and then the diagnosis and would wait until I stopped crying to discussing further treatments, etc. and what the prognosis might be. Probably one of the best experiences I have had in such a difficult situation. read more

Our dog had been vomiting with diarrhea for a day and a half. Of course it was over the weekend so we brought her here. I was impressed from the time we walked in the door. My doggo Surly had been vomiting all day and began having diarrhea. It was Saturday night and we were a walk-in, but check in was easy and fast and my doggo was able to be seen pretty quickly. The vet and technicians were all friendly, caring, and professional. Dr. Otto was great, you can tell he has a lot of experience and really cares for the animals he treats. He explained to me what he was doing during the physical exam and explained all our options and I felt I could trust his recommendations. The charges for each procedure and the instructions for the medications were clearly communicated. Overall a great experience. My sweet Surly is already feeling much better! read more

Our cat became very ill after normal vet hours. We tried the emergency vets in our area. The vet hospital in Mokena was closed because it was Wednesday. The premier emergency vet center told us their center was on bypass due to high volume of pets already at their facility. We had to travel to highland Indiana to seek help for cat. The EVCC is easy to find and we were met with such kindness and immediate care for our cat named blonde. With in a short time the we were informed of his condition and the possible outcomes. We ended up euthanizing our cat which was a most difficult decision. I can't thank EVCC enough for the care and kindness showed to our cat. I especially was to thank dr. Orange for her exceptional kindness she gave our cat and my husband and me. I highly recommend this business. read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible.!!! When we arrived at 3:00am my dog was in full Addisonian crisis. The Dr refused to believe me. At 4:00am she told us our dog was possibly poisoned. At 5:00am we were told it was we should think about transfering out dog to a neurologist. At 6:00am we were told it was likely cancer. But for $3000+ they would like him to stay 24 hrs for observation. -None of the test needed for an Addisons dog were run yet. If a diabetic goes to the dr the first they do is a glucose test. $1200 - Alot of unnecessary testing & Hours of delayed treatment -I was able to get my dog out of there. Deepest Thanks to Dr. Peg Amram & Griffith Animal Hospital for transferring him there and saving his life. read more

Our little dog was attacked by a coyote at 12:30 am Memorial Day. We called before we headed out and the staff was so professional and caring on the phone. Once we arrived the care was phenomenal for both our dog and ourselves. We were in a stressful situation and everyone there could not have been more caring or competent in handling the situation. My dog need surgery and they told me it would be $6,800. Absolutely insane. They said if I don't do it the dog would die. I left after paying $535 for an X-ray and exam (also insane) and went to Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge and got the same surgery and X-ray for $875 out the door. Everything about our experience was a 10/10; we were referred to EVCC because our dog needed emergency surgery, after hours, July3rd. Every person we encountered (the receptionist, the medical assistant/vet tech, the veterinarian) was professional, knowledgeable, empathetic, and most importantly, confident that they could help us. They kept us calm, which in turn, kept our dog in relatively good spirits. Until the thermometer came along! Ha! They listened to our concerns, put together a treatment plan, and explained everything in great detail with us, including the fees. We did not wait long considering the day and time. The lobby was immaculate and they triage and room the patients quickly because we had the entire waiting room to ourselves, which was perfect for our dog. The exam room was cold, but I understand why. We were contacted immediately after surgery with the great news that the surgery was a success! And she was discharged the next day with a beautiful incision. We cannot express our gratitude enough for saving our dog's life!! read more

I called at approximately 4:30 a.m in morning because my dog ate a foreign object and was vomiting with diarrhea.They stated that vet was scrubbing in for surgery and my dog could not be seen for several hours.I called back at 8 because my vet was not in,they took my information and told me to register him online.I registered him and when I arrived after checking him in another girl came out and told me and another person that vet could not see our pets for several hours because vet was just going into surgery. The other lady asked if there was more vets and she stated they were all too busy.I left and took him to another vet and at 9:24 I recieved a text that my 9 'O clock appointment is runnining approximately 90 min late.Luckily I found a vet to see my Sonny.The lady who worked there is heartless and Rude!This is suppose to be an emergency vet and I was turned away 2x.My boy is at Crossroads and is recieving the care that he desperately needed and deserves.Prior to this place changing names( When it was called Northlake emergency vetinarian hospital it was great.They must have changed ownership and hire heartless jerks to turn animals away. read more

My dog came in due to a problem with his front paw. He was seen by Allison Fadesh, M.D. Ace was sent home, with pain meds and a cone. I was told he had a soft tissue injury. There wasn't an open sore, but a scab. I was told to keep the cone on and complete the pain and inflammation meds. I did as instructed but felt odd that his foot wasn't bandaged and he wasn't given antibiotics. I called vet because I could not get him into his regular vet. I felt something was still wrong. Ten days later I was told my dog's foot was infected. He was given antibiotics and a bandage to stop licking. Ace has been in a cone for over 10 days. Now, he has to wear it again for another 10 days! I called back to EVCC to complain. They needed to call the vet where I took him. Erin called me back and said that Ace had to have licked his paw from the time he left their care to the time he was seen by another vet - hence causing the infection! I received no apology. I did receive an excuse, or maybe they would say it was an explanation for their exemplary service. This place provides horrible service! I will never take my dog here again. I had a bad experience there years ago with my cat. They never got to the bottom of what was wrong! Long story short ended up having to put her down. Recently I took my dog who is 3 years old there for kennel cough. It was Labor Day so my regular vet wasn't open. I was told to wait in car as she would be contagious to the other dogs. Okay no problem with that but was also told it would be a 3 hour wait! I live 5-10 minutes from there so asked if I could take her home and they could call me. They had to call me anyway as I would be in the car. They said no I had to stay! So wait in the at with a 3 yr old lab? I made the decision to bring her home and keep her comfortable and call my regular vet in the morning! They said something about a vet coming in and then things would move along quicker! I am very unimpressed with this place ! I don't recommend them at all read more

It is rare to find such a knowledgeable, professional and compassionate team of techs and Dr's, let alone at 4AM. I honestly hope I never need another 4AM visit, but I assure you, I would go no where else. Dr Ankrom and staff were very attentive to my little boy. They gave him lots of TLC and got him home in 2 days. He has never been away from me and I think he did really great. I bought my cat there for possible hyperthyroidism. She had became hoarse and wasn't eating as much. She wanted to run test of nearly $1000. I did not have the funds and could only cover up to $500. I had her only do a T4 test. And said I would take her somewhere else for the other testing as it was out of my budget. The T4 text came back negative. She gave me a hard time saying, well because you refuse the other testing there is nothing I can do. My cat was drooling with pain in her mouth. She did not address that or treat that. She told me she could have cancer, Ibs, or other metabolic issues, and if I didn't treat her she was going to die. I took her that same day to a different clinic and had the blood test done. They also gave her an antibiotic and steroid. She is back eating and acting her normal self, as we wait for the results of her tests. The only. one who was helpful was the aid, who gave me a list of less expensive clinics that can help. read more

Everyone was nice and caring, but the cost is way too high for me,and the fact my dog couldn't be saved.i spent almost 700.00 for almost nothing. They need to come down on prices they charge to help. Cars pulled up and got serviced then left. These cars had Caucasian pet owners that were serviced with a smile. We were very impressed with the care our cat received at Emergency Veterinary Care Center in Mishawaka. Our cat had surgery elsewhere earlier in the day and had pulled one of his stitches out. By then, our vet's office had closed, so we took him to the EVCC. The staff at the front desk were very calm, kind and reassuring. The vet techs were professional.
