Okayyyyy sooooo I am a Brooklynite from Brownsville and love a slice from the hood. However, I moved to the Bronx and met Emilio's and fell in love... The pizza is DELICIOUS. I LOVE the veggie slice. Today I decided to try the chicken and tomato... Lately I just have to have tomatoes on my pizza. The service is always quick and friendly. They really don't have much seating. Stopped by last week for a quick bite to go with my kids. Ordered a plain slice, slice with chicken as well as a third one with chicken and fresh tomato. Although portion sizes were smaller than expected they were very tasteful. Definitely order again when the kids are up to having pizza. read more

The pizza is a nice thin crust, unless you order the Grandma pie- a distinction becoming blurred in many spots. They have an excellent pasta e fagiole soup, and light, airy garlic knots with plenty of fresh garlic on top. They didn't taste like they'd been sitting out. They have a few little tables outside for once you order, and they also have house made sodas, including my personal favorite, raspberry lime ricky. The owner was solicitous, checking on us and bringing napkins outside, as if it were a table service place. Very kind people, yummy food. read more

One of my favorite pizzerias of all time. As small as it is, the taste and the quality of the pizza is great! A great selection menu (of course you could request a special pie for your tasting) and always fresh. My favorite is the chicken and tomato slice. The best combination of fresh fruit and lightly breaded chicken.. Can't forget the golden melted cheese. The pizza holds everything well and doesn't make mess while trying to eat. Best pizza on this side of town hands-down. And likely best in the whole east Bronx, yes better than Morris Park. The new owners of this place are carrying on the legacy of the last owner and putting in even more craft and personal touch to this shop, and it shows! You can come into this shop for a plain pizza, but why would you? They are loaded with specialty slices, with fresh ingredients, and fair price! They have traditional chicken w tomato, and sicilians, but come in for the unique offerings that are even hard to find in Manhattan--Shrimp w spinach, salad slice, lasagna, and their daily (weekly?) unique pies. I went here on the recommendation of one of my patients, who happens to be Italian and live in the neighborhood. He recommended the foccacia, but when I arrived, I was drawn to the veggie pizza. Had a slice, hot, and ate it there. Tasty, crisp crust with the right balance of chewiness and tenderness. Great mix of sweet red peppers, onions, eggplant and zucchini. The cheese was flavorful, but on the sparse side. It was sort of greasy, though, with red oil dripping off the slice. Maybe it was an oil-based marinade for the veggies? I wasn't sure, but that aspect knocked down the number of review stars. There are ~5 booths for eating in. A TV playing on it's ceiling mount. During my meal, there were several middle-aged and older Italian men loudly discussing (standard Bronx volume) the state of the world and how to fix it all. Definitely felt like I was at home in the Bronx. Could I have enjoyed a quiet meal today? DEFINITELY. But I guess if I felt like some quiet, I could have got my slice to go... and found somewhere quiet to eat. Not sure where that would have been, tho. Ha. read more

I love their pizza and feel lucky that they are only about 3 blocks away. When you go, it is easy to become distracted by all of the specialty pizzas that they have to offer. The best is the chicken and tomato slice. I love that pizza. The chicken is perfectly breaded and not overwhelming for a slice. Another favorite is the shrimp and broccoli rabe. Shrimp scampi on a slice of pizza is a great idea and Domenicks does it best. They give you plump pieces of shrimp and a great amount. For $4, it is more than a great value. They are a throwback to the pizzerias of my youth and I am glad that they exist in this new world of commercial cardboard tasting pizzas. read more

This is the ONLY pizza in my opinion. I grew up around the corner, and have been eating that pizza for twenty years at least. Nothing beats it. The woman who works behind the counter sometimes told me that when she goes to Italy (which they all do frequently and close the shop to do so), she brings along this pizza. SHE FLIES 7 HOURS TO ITALY, WITH THE PIZZA IN TOW. That, my friends, is a sign of some real ass pizza worship. read more

This place is the real deal, they make a lot of specialty slices, but their regular classic New York slice is freaking amazing, one of the best pizza slices I ever ate, real old school place, like straight outta the 1980s, real good. i grew up around the allerton ave section of the bronx and the local pizza shop was good but later on when i left the bronx i found dominicks pizza and glad the did . my buddy who also grew up in the area told me about this pizza shop and today is the day to munch on some pizza. place is plain looking with a few booths to sit at in a non frills interior but menu is not plain or no frills with pizza , salads , heroes , rolls , pasta dishes , entrees and to appease the non pizza eaters you can get wings or beef patties. my buddy and i always keep it simple by ordering a large cheese pie and whatever is left over goes home with either one of us. its one of my fave pizza shop cause the slices are delicious and they do it old school just like back in the day . the place changed owners a few years ago but kept the same standard of quality which keeps us coming back and the prices are still what i consider more then fair .overall dominicks pizzeria on allerton ave gets 4.5 stars for keeping it like the good old days. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. Really satisfied. Pizza was really good. Had chicken parmigiana hero was a little under seasoned that's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars . Very moist unlike other places where the chicken is dry. Great sauce and cheese. Will definitely be going back. read more

I've watched this pizzeria go from the BEST to just overall disappointing in 3 years. From the pizza quality to service as of my most recent visit I won't be ordering from here. My bf and I went in and ordered 4 slices to go. He said " I only have 3 , I can only make you 1 pepperoni and 2 plain and you have to pick something else" . Okay ... I looked over on the side at the remaining pizza which appeared dry and burnt as if it were just sitting there. I said "it's fine we're not going to take it" he replied "oh you don't want it okay good NEXT !" as we were walking out . Just plain disrespectful ! We we're honestly shocked walking to ANOTHER Pizza shop like did he just say that ? Wow ! We truly miss the old pizza guy he was extremely outgoing and willing to make something "for my friend" if it wasn't available. He made conversation and you wouldn't even notice you were waiting. The pizza used to be flavorful with a nice fluffy crust NOW just straight inconsistent pizza. One day it's extremely salty with no crust . Pizzas flat it's like paper pizza and sometimes you can tell it's old pizza because when I get home cheese doesn't even fall off it just a sticks. Hit or miss but lately just a miss ! miss ! miss ! I've been getting the tomato and chicken slice for the past 10 years. Recently, I was craving the tomato chicken slice. So when I saw that they still had the same slices under new management I was really excited but the slice didn't compare. It was dry and seemed to have been reheated once to many.
