We took my mom here for her birthday the other night...and so glad we chose Emilio's. Service was fantastic, we got sound wine advice and the staff was more than ready to serve. The food was excellent - we all got pasta dishes and eating fresh, housemade pasta makes all the difference! They had very nice seasonal appetiizers; I got some delicious fresh figs with prosciutto. Overall, dishes were simple, balanced and well made with good ingredients. Nothing too heavy or complicated. Fresh and delicious at a great price. True Italian food, true homemade Italian taste....went for a recent restaurant week visit and am just upset I couldn't find the time to go back... we tried the: "Panzerotti Salsa Noci" basically homemade ravioli filled with ricotta & swisschard in a walnut cream sauce, "Pappardelle Cingiale" pasta with a wild boar ragu, the mushroom & ricotta puffed pastry pie infused with truffle oil, and the baked polenta with porcini's & parmigiano. All were perfectly prepared, the staff is old school and attentive. A true gem..old school all the way. Emilio's kitchen offers an unmatched antipasto, homemade pastas and a beautiful selection of dishes in a lovely warm and inviting setting. Our dining experience was truly divine. The beautiful fresh ingredients, and subtle flavors and textures were prepared with refined skill and experience. The beauty in the preparation is showcased by the simplicity and quality of ingredients. The tomato bruschetta and caramelized onions and fennel in the antipasto are best in show. The homemade pastas and sauces and slow cooked osso bucco are the best we've ever had and we have the reputed best frequently in NYC and elsewhere. The staff is attentive and very well trained. You just don't get any better than this. All appetizers are fresh and unique. Fish specials always to die for and their ravioli with a light cream sauce with walnuts is an absolute must. Highly recommend this lovely establishment with linen table cloths and napkins and well dressed attentive servers. Classy place and food that is as good as the best restaurants in Italy. read more

We worked with Emilio's for our wedding rehearsal dinner and it was GREAT. We loved working with them. Sergio worked with us on a custom menu and drink arrangement that worked with our budget. They set up a space in the back of the restaurant for us that felt very private. I remember that we had a few toddlers running around as the waiters served us, but they were very patient and helpful, making sure everyone who needed a high chair had one. Definitely not what it used to be. We ate there last night and everything left us wanting, from the rare steak that came well done, to the capellini with tomato sauce that gave us all acid reflex and the limpid tricolore salad. Will not be going there again, though the atmosphere is lovely. Just isn't worth the $$$. read more

Emilio's is a quaint Italian restaurant in an older large house. They have nice ample private parking which is always a plus. Service was very friendly and courteous. Clientele was mostly older folks. No problem with that. Just describing the scene. The food was a mixed bag but mostly good. The generous antipasto had some big hits like sweet tiny tomatoes and grilled fresh artichoke hearts. Quite frankly I could have eaten a big plate of just the artichokes and called it a day. Stuffed clams were so so and forgettable. We also had a nice radicchio salad with garganzola golden raisins and pine nuts. Never had this before and quite tasty. For main course I had home made ravioli stuffed with mushrooms. The ravioli had an intense deep earthy mushroom flavor. The red sauce on top wasn't anything special. I think the dish would have been significantly better topped with brown butter garlic or just simply drizzled with high quality olive oil. All in all a nice experience. I would revisit to try some other dishes. read more

I have dined at Emilio's on three occasions, along with several family members. The atmosphere was nice, and most of the diners in my group were pleased with the food but were not thrilled. We all found the service somewhat weak, and the server's attitude towards the dietary needs of one of my family members was downright hostile. Also, the personality of the maître d' does not seem suited to a service business. The main reason we've gone back is because grandma likes it, which pretty much summarizes our experiences there; the younger family members would generally choose somewhere else. read more

This is a favorite restaurant of my boyfriend's and he took me here for Valentines day dinner. We had a really lovely time. The restaurant has a warm pleasant atmosphere. They start you off with bread and green olives stuffed with feta. They wheel in the antipasto cart, which last night included: bocconcini mozzarella, eggplant caponata, sardines, tomato bruschetta, roasted red and yellow peppers, avocado stuffed with crab meat, a mushroom pie, and others. We shared a plate of the bruschetta, artichoke hearts, and butter beans. It was an excellent combination and it was all delicious. I especially liked the beans. For my entree, I ordered the panzerotti con salsa noci, swiss chard and ricotta ravioli in a walnut cream sauce. He got the linguini with clams, a special that night. My ravioli were excellent. The pasta is homemade and the filling and sauce were delicious. It's a rich dish, so a half portion was sufficient. My boyfriend really enjoyed his linguini. The desserts were less impressive. From the dessert cart, I chose a raspberry tart and the bf got blackberries with whipped cream. It was made of some sort of raspberry preserve and the double crust made for a little too much pastry. It was also microwaved, which made for a very non-tart like texture. It was served with ice cream though, and the combination of warm pastry and ice cream always provides some appeal. It was not bad, just not great. This did not detract from the experience at all, as I was full and extremely satisfied after the main meal. The staff were very attentive and cordial. Enjoyed a nice dinner at Emilio this evening. Food was good and service was top notch. One strange thing happened. The waiter told us to "leave room for desert because it would be free". I took him seriously and thanked. We had desert and when the bill came guess what....there were charges for desert. Waiters should not make statements like that in jest. Pretty much put a damper on the whole experience. I would have given them a higher rating if it were not for this. read more

Just had another great meal to start the new year. A new tasty salad on the menu. Whole branzino as good as ever. Pork ossobuco now on the menu. Just great. A couple of weeks ago we had the best venison that we could remember. Deep wonderful flavor and cooked perfectly. I wish they have it more often. Drove up from Bridgeport,Ct for lunch on Tuesday.Nice Italian restaurant with parking lot right near Harrison train station.Waiter started table off with chunks of Reggiano Parmegiano,and warm bread with olives and Hummus spread.I ordered from the price fixed lunch menu for 20.95.Started with a house salad with chickpeas,greens,onions,and shaved provolone.For lunch I had homemade fettuccini with a braised short rib ragu.It was mouthwatering.Finished lunch with a coffee gelato.Everything I had was delicious.Topped it off with a glass of Chianti.Very professional service.Love to bring my father here. read more

We reserved the "Venetian Room," with seating for 20, for our parents' 60th anniversary party. The owner. Sergio, was a pleasure to work with to plan the event, and very accommodating. The party went flawlessly; the staff was attentive but not obtrusive; the wine selection was fantastic, with a large selection of moderately-priced and very good wines (as well as the high-end stuff, if you want it); the food was excellent and the service was well-timed. We had people coming from all over the NY metro area, and we chose Emilio's as much for its central location as for the food, but we would definitely return just to enjoy it on our own. Fine northern Italian fare served gracefully. Emilio's is truly a mom and pop restaurant run by a caring family. The main dining room in this fine American colonial house could use a facelift. The entrance is not suited to those who are handicapped nor is its restroom facility. It would be nice if the house joined Open Table ... Is Sergio, the owner of Emilio's, Anti-Semitic or simply rude? On Thanksgiving eve 2013, we took a private room for our party of 9 - our expanding family of children, spouses and elderly mother. We always choose a special restaurant to begin our Thanksgiving festivities. This year was extra special because it coincided with the first night of Hannuakah. As it is difficult to gather all the adult children together from their various homes around the US, it was promising to be an extra special Thanksgivukkah celebration. When we walked into Emilio's, we immediately noticed our private room decorated for Christmas and "Silent Night" was being piped in. There were only 3 other tables occupied- all small parties - in the rest of the restaurant. Sergio was very rude when we asked him to change the music. When we explained it was Hannukah, he thumbed his nose at us. He never came back to check on us, as is his customary style. Dinner for 9 came to a robust dollar amount but he never showed up to thank us. You can be sure we will never return. read more

My friend and I had lunch at Emilio's today and it was an outstanding experience. Absolutely delicious food that was well presented and prepared. Terrific wait staff that was attentive, congenial and well informed regarding the menu selections. I highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to returning. read more

For a Christmas Eve gathering, my family and I wanted to find a restaurant close to our Mother's home in Harrison since she is 94 and confined to a wheelchair. We chose "Emilio's" because we had been there numerous times for special events (showers, christenings, after funeral luncheons, etc. and had enjoyed the food.) We were so pleased that they were open (many Italian restaurants are not on Christmas Eve) and literally up the street from her home. I made the reservation for 12. That evening we were surprised by an unexpected guest (making it 13 for dinner), so a couple of us went to the restaurant 15 minutes early to inform them that we would be 13, not 12. The response from the host, and I quote, "Well, 12 don't seat 13!!" His voice was loud, ungracious, and unwelcoming. He behaved as if I was asking him to seat a herd of elephants. To prove his point he showed me the space he had allotted. The space was more than adequate and another setting could have been added. This was clearly not his vision, so he put the tables on an angle and added another. We did not really care how he made another place but he made us feel that this was such a nuisance to accommodate one added guest. He also insisted that I had not mentioned the wheelchair in my reservation and that that required prior notice. (For what, I am not sure. It involves opening a side door that is street level.) His attitude towards us was so unprofessional: I have never been treated that way. The meal was satisfactory, not stellar. Fortunately, the wait-staff were gracious, unlike the host who behaved as a petulant child whose plan had been changed and was completely overwhelmed. I will never recommend this establishment. If my Mother had not been with us, we never would have stayed after that first rude greeting. The host (who I am assuming is Emilio) prides himself on being "32 years in the business, just wanting to make people happy." I suggest that he try to adjust his attitude and start by greeting people appropriately. He didn't make anyone in my party "happy." read more
