We had a lovely dinner the staff went beyond the normal to make us feel cared for it was Saturday and there was a old school Italian singer. The Zuppa de pez was superb and as good as any I've had. Great Food, extensive selection, reasonable portions and prices. Very Good service by an attentive, polite staff who aim to please. Most recently, we were a group of 13 on a Friday night when they had entertainment. There was not a seat in the house. My wife and I stayed in the area overnight and use the help to find someplace suitable for dinner. This restaurant was high on the list and close so we gave them a try. We arrived a little early and there were only two other tables seated. That said, the food was terrific! my wife and I open with adult beverages, a Merlot for my wife and a Negroni for me. Unfortunately, mom, the bartender, top my Negroni off with soda water. Other than that it was a terrific Negroni! For our meals, my wife ordered the pepperoni pizza, personal size well, I ordered the clams casino and mussels and white wine with garlic. I really can't remember the last time I had clams casino, but these were awesome! My wife's pizza was big and fresh! And I truly enjoyed the mussels! For dessert, we splurged with some spumoni. I must say that for being a "wine bar, they have a very small selection. Inside of the restaurant was well decorated and our server did a wonderful job! After a long hiatus, we decided to head over to Rini's for dinner. We started with an appetizer and was not disappointed. The portion size was generous, and surprisingly included small tentacles, and not just calamari rings which most other italian eateries serve. The Zuppe di Pesce was enormous, while the two chicken entrees were of decent portions (you need to ask to substitute the potato side that came with the Valdostana with pasta, and would have loved a second piece on the dish). The tiramisu dessert was enjoyable but could have used a bit more rum. Overall, very enjoyable meal, prices very reasonable (glass of house wine was $10), and we look forward to going back. (A disappointing side note, there is no markings for parking spaces, and most patrons are elderly and need lots of room to get out, or inconsiderate. When we got back to the car there was a 3in black gash mark on rear door from the car parked next to us which was not there when we arrived, even though we puposely parked further away from the entrance). read more

I've been going to Rini's since Opening Night, and it remains my go-to restaurant for family events, work lunches and everything in-between. You will not meet a nicer, more considerate owner/host and the team (including kitchen crew) will do whatever is needed to ensure the right experience for that specific visit -- and every visit moving forward. Service was excellent. I ended up with a small issue with the broiled salmon. Server was understanding and attentive. He even made an excellent recommendation, sole stuffed with spinach and mozzarella. Incredible choice. Also had an excellent conversation with the owner. I visited the first time on a Friday night years ago when they had a good band playing and the food was great. It became one of those restaurants that I like but I don't visit frequently. I visited few times this year and I think the food is really good and the service is attentive. In addition they do have live music on Friday. They only have 6 options total, but they are all very solid! The care and quality they put into the vegan options is awesome. I see why a lot of people really enjoy the pizza options the best. Was in the mood for Italian on Thanksgiving so I googled "Italian restaurants open on Thanksgiving " and so glad I did . I've drove by this place for years and had no idea it was there . It's a great hidden gem with old school at home feeling staff . The food I must say I was very surprised by . The portions are great and even with covid and the hit I'm sure they are getting, it has not made them cheap out on product and portion . My son and I had a great take out experience and will be making this my new go to Italian spot . My wife and I regularly go to this great Italian/Seafood restaurant. Your great experience begins when you are greeted by the friendliest restaurateurs around, Leo and/or Antonietta. It continues with their friendly servers. Detect a theme? The extensive menu has salads, grill items, Italian entrees and seafood. The portions are generous. My go to meal is chicken parmigiana, which is my Italian comfort food (tip:Tell them to pound the chicken thin). However; if you like seafood (which I do too)then you can't go wrong here. The seafood dishes are fantastic and will save you a trip to city Island. I recommend the lobster. If you like your lobster stuffed it is loaded with real crabmeat (not the fake stuff) with the right amount of breading. All entree's come with salad, and choice of potato, vegetable or pasta. A great value. They also make their own crusty Italian bread which is placed on the table. If you like desert, they have a good tiramisu and Italian cheesecake. The winner though is their tartufo, which has vanilla and chocolate ice cream in a thick dark chocolate shell. Enough for two to share. They also have free entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays, usually 50's and 60's bands and singers. A great night out at a reasonable price. read more

Our party called ahead 10 minutes in advance to make sure they had table for our large group. upon arrival we were seated immediately at a table set up for our large family. the service was fast, friendly and accommodating. the food was amazing. I shared the eggplant parmesan and the fried zucchini and both were great. my brother in law had their home made pizza and it was awesome! they cooked the pasta perfectly for the kids and everyone enjoyed their lunch. I ordered from Uber eats and wanted their vegan baked ziti. I asked for the mozzarella that is usually on top from what I've seen in pictures on the side. What I got was just plain boxed pasta with tomato sauce (it had a weird taste not sure if it's fresh) with circles of vegan mozzarella on the side. The part that makes me so upset is that the cashew ricotta was omitted from the dish completely making it just pasta with sauce! I wasted $25 and could have made something better at home. I was recommended this place and the menu had some good items and fair prices. I am very critical of Italian places. I am from new haven CT where Italians know how to cook. My moms eggplant and chicken parm are to die for. When I first walked in there was nobody there so I was a bit concerned. I ordered shrimp and scallops over linguini but was told they were out of scallops. I guess that's better than serving bad seafood. So I went with an Italian restaurant staple. Chicken parmigiana. Two things are important here. 1. I better be able to cut it with a fork and 2. The coating better not be hard. This dish had two nicely done large pieces of chicken that was very tender. The penne pasta was Al dente and the sauce was almost too acidic but it was very good. Bread was real Italian bakery bread. Was an excellent meal and I was stuffed and couldn't get dessert . Service was obviously great because I was the only person there. No clue why no people tonight but it is a Tuesday so.... Very good meal I will definitely be back read more

They accommodated a diverse crowd and provided enough meatfree options to pleaser our finicky female contingent. I was tasked with planning a retirement party that included going out to a restaurant for dinner, and to be honest I was not very happy about it. I talked with a couple of restaurants that the guest of honor was interested in and both were sketchy about prices, menu, etc., which made me generally uncomfortable. A colleague suggested I contact Rini's because she had recently been involved in planning another retirement party where folks went out to dinner there, so I called. Leo, the owner, was so clear, straightforward, and nice to work with. We could choose any four entrees on the menu to be available to the guests, and salad, an entree, soda, and coffee came to about $38 a person including tax and 20% tip (way less than other restaurants quoted me for similar meals). The night of we slowly gathered at the restaurant, hanging out at the bar and buying our own drinks until we decided to sit. The service was efficient, but they didn't rush us along (we stayed for about 2.5 hours) and they took our alcohol orders as we needed and we paid for that individually very easily. The food was great and everyone had a really nice time. While I don't particularly want to have to plan something like this again anytime soon, I would absolutely go to this restaurant again if I did. About 5 minutes from our house, so... some great dishes: fresh lobster, steak & other meat dishes, fettucine with scallops & shrimp... very good Italian food--not always perfect, a few times the side-dish pasta wasn't hot, once a main dish eggplant wasn't hot. but they will instantly remedy any problems. the family that owns it is from Friuli, in the north near Trieste--warm & friendly atmosphere, excellent service, top-notch drinks & cocktails. a very good value for a nice dining experience. read more

I just got home and popped two Tums in my mouth. My stomach is throbbing from the dinner I had. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, veal Sorrentino and it was horrible. My husband also had the veal dish which was tasteless and tough. The veal tasted like a frozen meal with some cheese and horrible sauce on it. The prosciutto was even hard and tasteless.
