From initial phone calls to Air New Zealand to get a wheelchair accommodation for my octogenarian dad to inflight service, it was really a trip home that I will never forget. Although there has been alot of negative associated with SWA lately because of the elimination of 2 free checked bags and now utilizing assigned seating and the elimination of the a, b, and c boarding groups. As a swa visa cardholder depending on your status, you still retain at the very least 1 free checked bag. I found the new boarding groups less chaotic and crowded which was a relief for me. Annoying is the word I would use to describe people who all at once are trying to put their unchecked bags in the overhead bins. Not so much this flight out of Hou Hobby! Although this flight was sold out everything was very smooth with the boarding procedure. I also found the assigned seating straight forward and not a bunch people trying to find an open seat all at once. The in-flight coffee is wonderful and as I said for before the best in the sky! Strangely enough the only helpful woman there WAS able to look it up and even assigned me the seat in the same class I was in on my canceled flight. Shakira's little friend, who knows her name they all had their name tags covered, (I asked Shakira for her name) also treated me with disdain and like she had no time for me, in fact in the middle of our conversation (about my Dallas flight before the other lady stepped in to help) she started other tasks and once she finished those, WALKED AWAY. Walked AWAY. While I've been standing at the counter right in front of her face for at least 20 minutes. When I said to the other woman standing there that had already gone through 4 people behind me that she was helping me and just left... she said oh she must have forgot. She must have forgot? So she helped me and said woman returns she says to her... you forgot about her and she's like "yea she was talking about a voucher yadda yadda yadda" so you didn't like me inquiring about what every single other person is inquiring about when you cancel flights so you choose to ignore me and WALK AWAY?? They have ticketing kiosks if you just need to print a boarding pass. At the gate, the seating area was comfortable and there was enough room for the number of passengers here waiting. Decent snack food options nearby or more options over near the Southwest gates. Boarding was organized and well done with separate queues for economy and Sky Priority here too. An agent helped us with our luggage because there is a weight limit of 40 pounds not 50 like other airlines. I was bringing back luggage I had intended to keep in Chicago but things changed. She helped us with tagging and getting us through the process through our phone to avoid the $25 agent fee. When it came time for my friend to get a wheelchair, we waited an hour and were told to get walking because we would miss our flight. My friend is 73 years old with spinal stenosis. We had to rush to get through security which took forever for her since she wasn't in a wheelchair and I have TSA pre check. She told me she was almost in tears because she didn't know where I was. Needless to say we barely made it to the gate on the other side of the airport where everyone had already started to board. As far as flying everything was great and we got in to Houston early. I would give 5 stars but because of the wheelchair fiasco I won't.

What stood out most was his professionalism and kindness. He remained calm, friendly, and respectful throughout the entire interaction. He did not rush the process and made sure my parents understood everything before moving on. That level of care and attention made a big difference for our family. I adored the astronaut cow near the IAH entrance and the big photo-op letters! The quirky cowboy aesthetic was phenomenal. I arrived during the World Cup so the airport had plenty of soccer mannequins and memorabilia. Gift shops had space suits and Astros merch. The gentlemen at the shuttle/rideshare area were so nice! They gave me thorough directions on where to locate The Parking Spot shuttle. Additionally, when I returned a few days later for departure I had a favorable experience with a Clear TSA agent, she was very polite and helpful. I never have heartwarming experiences with TSA, I did here! She walked me through the fast lane process and brought levity to a stressful environment for many. Seats are comfortable in the terminals, bathrooms could be cleaner. I saw some trash on the floor in the men's restroom.
