Inside Delta flight DL 1223 IAH Houston to ATL Atlanta. View from Seat 24B (middle). I'm logged into Delta Sync on the seatback screen.

We had a good experience flying Delta into and out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston. Delta is currently our preferred carrier. For this trip, we were coming from and headed back to Raleigh-Durham and connected in Atlanta (ATL) to get to and from Houston. My wife and I flew flight DL1223 from ATL to IAH and flight DL1223 (same flight number) from HOU to ATL. Both flights arrived to and departed from Gate A15 at IAH Terminal A, on the north side of the terminal. Both flights were on an Airbus A321. Inbound, we were in seats 31A (left window) and 31B (middle). Outbound, we were in seats 24A (left window) and 24B (middle). These seats were economy and Delta "Main Cabin," which meant we could select and change our seats. We boarded in Zone 5. Roundtrip, for the two of us, the RDU-ATL-IAH flights cost $791.90 ($395.95 roundtrip per person), purchased directly through Delta. These flights were booked only 11 days ahead of time. Both flights were on time. Estimated flight time inbound was 2 hours 10 minutes and outbound was 2 hours 15 minutes. Actual durations were right around or under 2 hours each. We arrived early each way. Both flights had clean and comfortable seats and cabins. As Delta SkyMiles members, Wi-Fi was included on both flights and it worked well. I enjoyed watching live TV (news and sports, mostly sports) on both flights. Also, these were among the first flights where we used Delta's relatively-new "Delta Sync" seatback screens. As far as I can tell, Delta Sync gives you a personalized entertainment experience, kind of like logging into your Netflix account. And it welcomes you by your first name, which is a nice touch because it makes you feel "special." My wife and I have become bigger fans of Delta in recent years. The airline has really stepped up their game while American and United have fallen behind. The gap has widened. Delta has improved and is better in just about every aspect -- cabins (condition and cleanliness), in-flight Wi-Fi and entertainment, and customer service. Come on, AA and UA. Keep up.

I have flown many airlines first class but this by far has been high up on the list. Delta airlines has not disappointed me whenever i fly with them. My first class experience was extremely nice. The service was great. The food was good, and the drinks were flowing. The flight was smooth. Two plus two equal four is what it felt like. I alreaDy don't like flying but if it keeps going this smooth you may not be able to find me lol.... Thanks Delta.

Open seat next to us on a FULL FLIGHT! Ba Bear had his own seat!

Air travel is never something I look forward to. It's usually stressful and workers haven't been overly pleasant in my experience. LET ME TELL YOU, DELTA AIRLINES FOR MY RECENT TRIP FROM IAH TO ROC WAS AMAZING!!! Everyone from the lady to checked me in at the baggage counter, the gate attendants and the flight attendants were so friendly and helpful. For some reason, upon checking in online the day prior, my 4 year-old son and I were seated on separate ends of the plane. The gate attendant quickly move us together AND on the second plane, a FULL FLIGHT... we were the ONLY row with an open seat! (Not sure if they purposely placed the open seat with us OR someone failed to show for their flight, we appreciated the extra space... anyone who has traveled with a young kid knows how much STUFF you bring, not to mention, how wiggly kids can be!) The planes we were on were awesome!! They appeared to be BRAND NEW!!! So clean and high tech!!! Each seat had their own touch screen tv!! LOVED LOVED LOVED this feature!! My son and I were able to watch newly released movies for FREE! It was also neat to track where the flight was and even play a few games. Made the time fly by!!! Checked bag cost us $30, which sucks, but better than another airline I saw which was a whopping $70! All in all, we WILL be flying Delta again! We had such a great traveling experience.

Honestly I can say that this has been the best flight experience on Delta . I'm giving them 4 stars only because of a few minor details . Nothing really worth writing about . First check in on the Delta App makes things simple . Security check in wasn't bad mostly because I have TSA pre check of which I won't ever be without . My flight from Texas to Atlanta was full and not much room for anyone with extra baggage, glad I only had my little suitcase. The flight was fine except for bad weather so it was a bumpy ride. My monitor to watch movies wasn't working properly so not much to do but rest for the flight . Then we land in Atlanta and I was lucky it was the same gate for my next connection. Same seat again so no movies . At least this time we got drinks and a snack as the first flight there wasn't any service due to the bad weather which I completely understand. The same flight attendants were on both my flights. One flight attendant named Melanie just really stood out from the rest , her customer service skills definitely made everything better. When I did land in Florida I found out our pilot was a woman which was cool as you don't see it as much . Thank to everyone at Delta for a wonderful experience

Delta has rats and horrible customer service beware

I am beyond upset and disappointed with delta. The standard of customer service has truly dropped. I have seen rats at the boarding gate in Cleveland and once I informed the employees they were not surprise. I was told that they were aware of the infestation and dismissed the situation. The past few flights the plane was dirty and my flight was delayed while being trapped on the aircraft for over two hours. I do not believe I will be flying delta for a while if ever again! beware and do your research and I hope things are better for you

A pleasant experience today arriving at IAH on Delta. This is my first time to this airport since I switched from Continental/United a few years back. Jet bridge was clean, the gate area was clean and there were enough seats for those waiting to board the plane. Gate agent was helpfully helping someone with directions. Good organized ropes set up at the ticket counter with plenty of kiosks available.

Very small plane!!!

I used Delta on my flight return from Texas back home Hawaii. This was my first time using this airlines and had wanted to try them out. Self check in was fast and easy .. but, checking my luggage was .. aggravating. So I self check in myself, and after, you stand in another line to check in your bags. Now, I know its early (500am) but don't take it out on customers! The counter agent talked so fast it was hard to understand her. And when I kept saying "Excuse me" so she could repeat she just looked more annoyed and continued to talk fast while giving me the eff you look. I have always flown either United or American. Delta has been a total experience. Good and bad. Although I wish I had flown First class instead of domestic. Not sure if it would've made my experience better or worst. First .. I had 2 layovers, one in Minnesota and the other in LA. Going to Minnesota, the little charter plane was the most cramped I ever want to be in a plane. I sat next to someone who not only took up the armrest, but also had the habit of leaning my way when he started falling asleep. Two hours of that and I was over it. The bathroom is the size of a small, very small child closet. It was so difficult to move around. Leaving Minnesota and LA was totally different. The planes were bigger and roomier. Pros: Free beverages Free bags of pretzels, cookies or peanuts Free movies, music and games on the touch screen behind every chair Bathroom more roomy Free wifi Free headset If you have the Delta app you can track your check in luggage Cons: Limited availability on on-board food purchases Cramped seating Rude stewardess Limited legroom Pillows .. (remember those flat flat pillows airlines used to give peeps to use? I think they recycled those cause that's what we got) No SkyClub in Houston I just don't feel as if I had a great experience with them and I probably wont fly with them again. The main reason I chose them was because I had never flow with them before and their time schedule was convenient for me. Also, when they checked the contents of my checked luggage, not only did they not re-wrap things that were not so delicate but I thought it would be broken since they just toss the luggage around .. but, a few things were missing from my bags. Things that are allowed in checked in luggage. I am going to file a complaint with them. Here's a tip folks .. it sounds tedious but its helpful. Take pictures of whats inside your luggage. I do it all the time. Because mines were totally re-packed sloppily. I get that you have to go through bags but have some respect for peoples things Delta.

My main "put off" was the old, dirty, worn, "ridden hard and put away wet" planes that we had... especially he ROC to CLT flight. I used the restroom and couldn't believe how gross it was. Parts of the trim were peeling off, just looked overly used and icky. American's planes were like night and day from the crisp, new and flashy Delta planes we had on our flights to Rochester. Then there's the technology or lack there of. Delta had fancy touch screens in each headrest allowing you to watch movies, play games, etc. American Airlines did have free entertainment that you had to access through your phone/tablet but there was an issue with trying to get it. On our last flight, the guy sitting next to me helped me get to the entertainment but after that, HE kept getting kicked off his. He kept trying the entire flight and got so frustrated, he quit trying. (I felt bad bc he helped me and I was able to watch a movie and there he was, struggling the whole time.) I got kicked off once but was able to get back on but it was still annoying. Never had issues with Delta. AA had fold out phone/tablet holders and usb charging ports on our second flight. Meh. No refreshments. Wow. I know airlines are getting stingier and stingier but holy moly! When waiting at the gate in Rochester, the gate attendant states over the loud speaker that they will not be serving any snacks/drinks on the flight and that if you wanted something, you needed to get it in the terminal to bring on the plane!! Whoa! The second flight did offer pretzels and a drink but honestly it was super off-putting to not offer anything on that first flight. I wasn't able to get e-tickets to have on my phone so we didn't have to worry about paper tickets. When I checked myself and my 4 year-old in the day prior, it offered digital tickets if you put in your email. So I put in my email for both me and my son... oh, they can't send them to the same email. So apparently, a 4 year-old needs their own email account to be able to get an e-ticket. SO STRANGE!!! Saw that there was an offer for airline credit in you give up your seat. Was tempting BUT I wasn't wanting to fly with them again anyways and we just wanted to get home. Flight attendants weren't overly friendly but they weren't terrible either. Checked bag cost us $30. All in all, American Airlines was completely different than our Delta experience. I won't seek out AA. We WILL be flying Delta again!!

Every single gate agent at the terminals was nasty and unhelpful. Particularly a woman named Shakira, whose hips probably lie like her mouth does. When my flight was rebooked, I asked if she could assign me a new seat she told me straight up to my face that she can't see the Dallas flight she only handles Houston ones. Strangely enough the only helpful woman there WAS able to look it up and even assigned me the seat in the same class I was in on my canceled flight. Shakira's little friend, who knows her name they all had their name tags covered, (I asked Shakira for her name) also treated me with disdain and like she had no time for me, in fact in the middle of our conversation (about my Dallas flight before the other lady stepped in to help) she started other tasks and once she finished those, WALKED AWAY. Walked AWAY. While I've been standing at the counter right in front of her face for at least 20 minutes. When I said to the other woman standing there that had already gone through 4 people behind me that she was helping me and just left... she said oh she must have forgot. She must have forgot? So she helped me and said woman returns she says to her... you forgot about her and she's like "yea she was talking about a voucher yadda yadda yadda" so you didn't like me inquiring about what every single other person is inquiring about when you cancel flights so you choose to ignore me and WALK AWAY?? Fast forward to this morning after having been up for 28 hours now, arrive to the airport to ANOTHER DELAYED FLIGHT. Supposed to leave at 825 now scheduled 905 meaning I will miss a chance for a flight I was first on the standby list for. I now will have a 10 hour layover in Phoenix because it's the best they could get me after the flight delays/cancelations. I said good morning to the gate agent do you know why this flight is delayed? Crew rest. Ok cool can you see if there are any flights out of Phoenix to Reno since I will miss the 10 am one? NO. She will not. Oh ok cool. Thanks for nothing American Airlines workers at IAH.

The flight attendants were gorgeous and nice enough to take a picture with me! I have only traveled to Jamaica internationally as an adult and it was a very good experience to use Emirates. My only 2 complaints are the whole bag weight/fee and when I got on the plane there were two different attendants giving me conflicting information! The whole max 25kg thing (55 LBS) when you are on a military orientated flight was kind of frustrating. Just an FYI it's $50 if you go over. Also, they won't even let you bring the bag on if it is more than 32kg (70 LBS). Your carry on bag must weigh less than 7 KG (15 LBS). They won't let you on the plane if it is more! The flight was long but there are plenty of movies and I didn't buy it but there was wifi I believe. All in all, if you fly Emirates.... Especially first class it is definitely worth it. Two places stood out: Brookstone: For memorial day they had a "happy memorial day" flyer and giving free soda to active duty and veterans. I am personally not a fan of saying happy memorial day. Also, the day is not about celebrating current military. It's to remember those that have fallen. Anyways, thought it was unnecessary they were giving away soda and 40% off. We didn't participate. The blanket we purchased for the plane ride was super soft! Be relax: OMG! Those prices were insane. I didn't snap a photo bc the girl was hovering as I talked it through with my husband. The terminals are spread out, but signage and the internal train system make it manageable to move between them without too much confusion. Security and check-in flow can vary by terminal and time of day, but overall the airport is fairly organized for the volume it handles. Once airside, there are plenty of gate areas with seating and charging access, and boarding is usually well coordinated. Food and retail options are broad, with a mix of national chains and some local Houston options, though quality and pricing can be inconsistent depending on the terminal. Some areas feel more modern than others, but improvements and renovations are noticeable in multiple sections of the airport. One unexpected standout is how much there is to explore for anyone who plays Pokémon GO. Between the number of terminals, stops, and general layout density, it's arguably one of the better U.S. airports for gameplay, with plenty of time and space to move around during layovers. Overall, it's a large but functional airport that does a solid job connecting passengers through a major international gateway, with the added bonus of being unusually good for Pokémon GO players during long waits.
