Flying into Angeles City from Taipai.
    Brad G.

Let me begin by saying... you haven't flown until you fly on an Asian airline. I took this airline to my destination and used Korean Air on the way back. Both airlines... they're so different than these non-sense airlines we deal with here in America. Before I dive into this airline, I did want to note something that was a little annoying. The first 2 legs of my flight were through United. The 3rd and 4th legs were through Eva Air. Eva and United are part of the same alliance. At minimum, at least my bag was checked through to my final destination. The annoyance... United issued all four boarding passes at my origin. Sounds good, right? For some reason, when I got to Houston for my 3rd and 4th legs... Eva insisted on issuing completely different boarding passes. I'm not entirely sure why they couldn't use the perfectly good passes from United(their alliance partner). Minor inconvenience but whatever. As far as the airline goes though; The 3rd leg was a long one... 16 hours, 10 minutes to Taiwan. 4th leg... 2 hours from Taiwan to the Philippines. I can't begin to tell you how amazing this airline was. I do rank Korean Air a bit above just because the food was a bit better there. With that, the food was still amazing with Eva Air. The first noticeable thing is how many flight attendants they have on each flight. They're running back and forth and ready to assist with anything you might need. Their outfits alone... I think they have 5 different outfits for a flight... one for each meal... one for sleepy time... one for snack time... and so on. For the long leg, I was surprised that they supplied a pillow, blanket, eye mask, and headphones(for the in flight free entertainment). After my Montana trip, I always have my handy neck pillow when I fly but it was still nice to have the extras to begin this flight. The food was good. I will admit some of it wasn't great to be eating at 4 AM but for the most part, it was much better than it had any right to be. The movies, games, music, and TV they had available really made the 16 hours fly by. The seats should also be mentioned... I was able to sleep much better with Eva Air's seats when comparing it to other airlines I was on. In the future, if I'm bouncing between Asian countries, Eva Air is definitely one of the airlines at the top of the list to consider.

    Hello Kitty themed tickets!
    Danny L.

I'm about to board an airplane plastered with Hello Kitty all over it. It's a positive note to end with after the awful luggage check-in service we received. Eva Airways luggage check-in reps are equivalent to the Subways sandwich makers who count exactly how many olives you get on your sandwich. They are strict. Carry on luggage may not exceed exactly 15 lbs. Even if your first carry-on luggage is 17 lbs. and your second carry-on luggage is 3 lbs. they will make you get out of line to transfer the excess 2 lbs. into the other luggage. When it conforms to policy, they will tag the weight onto your carry-on. If you decide to transfer some of that weight back into the original bag, they will fine you $50! They have a person walking around the gate, armed with a hand (tension) scale, to re-weigh your bag! Talk about thirsty for money. If I wanted to check in my 17 lb. luggage, it would have cost $150. On my first experience with Eva Airways, their flight was delayed by 1 hour (so far). International flights are commonly connected with connecting flights which makes situations worse for a lot of passengers. Let's be prompt guys. The plane ride wasn't too bad. Everything is themed (you guessed it) Hello Kitty. The food, pillows, and even flight attendants! I don't mind this but it feels a bit over-the-top, especially if the safety instructions have Sanrio characters on it. I have more reason to not like Hello Kitty even more after flying with Eva Airlines. TIPS: -Make small talk with the representative weighing your bags. Be respectful and polite. -Free carts can be found towards the end of the check in counters. Don't pay $5 to use a cart for a few minutes. -Wear your heavy clothe and stuff as many items in your pocket if you come close to their weight limit. -Read all their rules and regulations online before going to the airport. -If you are being dropped off and the driver doesn't mind waiting, ask to stay close by until you checked in all your bags. Bring a roll of packing tape just in case you need to rearrange a luggage.

I enjoy flying EVA Air to Taipei and loved their Hello Kitty flight. I have been wanting to take this special flight for the longest time and could never get my schedule to line up with flight availability as it's always sold out. Service was excellent and professional as expected of Taiwan's sole international airline. Food was very good. I liked their congee meal and ramen noodle snack. They overfeed you which is not a bad thing. Of course all the Hello Kitty decorations and accessories were super fun! My flight was sold out as expected.

My main "put off" was the old, dirty, worn, "ridden hard and put away wet" planes that we had... especially he ROC to CLT flight. I used the restroom and couldn't believe how gross it was. Parts of the trim were peeling off, just looked overly used and icky. American's planes were like night and day from the crisp, new and flashy Delta planes we had on our flights to Rochester. Then there's the technology or lack there of. Delta had fancy touch screens in each headrest allowing you to watch movies, play games, etc. American Airlines did have free entertainment that you had to access through your phone/tablet but there was an issue with trying to get it. On our last flight, the guy sitting next to me helped me get to the entertainment but after that, HE kept getting kicked off his. He kept trying the entire flight and got so frustrated, he quit trying. (I felt bad bc he helped me and I was able to watch a movie and there he was, struggling the whole time.) I got kicked off once but was able to get back on but it was still annoying. Never had issues with Delta. AA had fold out phone/tablet holders and usb charging ports on our second flight. Meh. No refreshments. Wow. I know airlines are getting stingier and stingier but holy moly! When waiting at the gate in Rochester, the gate attendant states over the loud speaker that they will not be serving any snacks/drinks on the flight and that if you wanted something, you needed to get it in the terminal to bring on the plane!! Whoa! The second flight did offer pretzels and a drink but honestly it was super off-putting to not offer anything on that first flight. I wasn't able to get e-tickets to have on my phone so we didn't have to worry about paper tickets. When I checked myself and my 4 year-old in the day prior, it offered digital tickets if you put in your email. So I put in my email for both me and my son... oh, they can't send them to the same email. So apparently, a 4 year-old needs their own email account to be able to get an e-ticket. SO STRANGE!!! Saw that there was an offer for airline credit in you give up your seat. Was tempting BUT I wasn't wanting to fly with them again anyways and we just wanted to get home. Flight attendants weren't overly friendly but they weren't terrible either. Checked bag cost us $30. All in all, American Airlines was completely different than our Delta experience. I won't seek out AA. We WILL be flying Delta again!!

Every single gate agent at the terminals was nasty and unhelpful. Particularly a woman named Shakira, whose hips probably lie like her mouth does. When my flight was rebooked, I asked if she could assign me a new seat she told me straight up to my face that she can't see the Dallas flight she only handles Houston ones. Strangely enough the only helpful woman there WAS able to look it up and even assigned me the seat in the same class I was in on my canceled flight. Shakira's little friend, who knows her name they all had their name tags covered, (I asked Shakira for her name) also treated me with disdain and like she had no time for me, in fact in the middle of our conversation (about my Dallas flight before the other lady stepped in to help) she started other tasks and once she finished those, WALKED AWAY. Walked AWAY. While I've been standing at the counter right in front of her face for at least 20 minutes. When I said to the other woman standing there that had already gone through 4 people behind me that she was helping me and just left... she said oh she must have forgot. She must have forgot? So she helped me and said woman returns she says to her... you forgot about her and she's like "yea she was talking about a voucher yadda yadda yadda" so you didn't like me inquiring about what every single other person is inquiring about when you cancel flights so you choose to ignore me and WALK AWAY?? Fast forward to this morning after having been up for 28 hours now, arrive to the airport to ANOTHER DELAYED FLIGHT. Supposed to leave at 825 now scheduled 905 meaning I will miss a chance for a flight I was first on the standby list for. I now will have a 10 hour layover in Phoenix because it's the best they could get me after the flight delays/cancelations. I said good morning to the gate agent do you know why this flight is delayed? Crew rest. Ok cool can you see if there are any flights out of Phoenix to Reno since I will miss the 10 am one? NO. She will not. Oh ok cool. Thanks for nothing American Airlines workers at IAH.

The flight attendants were gorgeous and nice enough to take a picture with me! I have only traveled to Jamaica internationally as an adult and it was a very good experience to use Emirates. The whole max 25kg thing (55 LBS) when you are on a military orientated flight was kind of frustrating. Just an FYI it's $50 if you go over. Also, they won't even let you bring the bag on if it is more than 32kg (70 LBS). Your carry on bag must weigh less than 7 KG (15 LBS). They won't let you on the plane if it is more! Security and check-in flow can vary by terminal and time of day, but overall the airport is fairly organized for the volume it handles. Once airside, there are plenty of gate areas with seating and charging access, and boarding is usually well coordinated. Food and retail options are broad, with a mix of national chains and some local Houston options, though quality and pricing can be inconsistent depending on the terminal. Some areas feel more modern than others, but improvements and renovations are noticeable in multiple sections of the airport. One unexpected standout is how much there is to explore for anyone who plays Pokémon GO. Between the number of terminals, stops, and general layout density, it's arguably one of the better U.S. airports for gameplay, with plenty of time and space to move around during layovers. Overall, it's a large but functional airport that does a solid job connecting passengers through a major international gateway, with the added bonus of being unusually good for Pokémon GO players during long waits.
