Great service on a late night flight from Houston/IAH to Taipei en route to Singapore on the Hello Kitty jumbo jet. Although our flight left late from Houston and then sat on the runway waiting for a gate after landing in Taipei, the crew was so good about communications. I have never been on a flight where they have already rebooked you on another connecting flight, assigned seats and have a table set up to exchange the tickets for the flight that you missed with your new tickets printed as you exit the gate. So efficient. The flight itself was good as well. Seats were comfy. Bathrooms were clean. Flight attendants were so sweet. So nice chatting with them as they shared tips about what to do in Asia. I would definitely consider flying with EVA Air again if given the chance...especially if it is on the Hello Kitty plane. So cute! read more

NEVER FLY WITH EVA!!! They have the absolute Worst , Rude service on board. Did not offer drinks thru a 13 hr flight. AND they broke my checked bag and said the only thing they could do about it was replace it with a cheap crappy one or give me $100. It was a $350 suitcase. They are the WORST!!! read more

****CUSTOMERS BE ADVISED**** Weight Restrictions on carry on! Are you kidding me! This is absurd! Fly United! I was all packed and ready with my normal carry on and backpack as I have for 20yrs flying for business on other airlines with no issues. My wife just so happens to look up EVA since this was my first time. She read numerous reviews regard there strict carryon weight policy being only 15Ibs. Note: most carryon luggage in the US is 5-8 pounds empty. I've never had my carryon luggage weighed before in 20 yrs. I spent over 3hrs shopping for new luggage to check in then trying to balance all my things between carryon and the checkin suitcase just ridiculous. I was planning on spending this time with my family before a long trip but no I'm juggling this BS! I've NEVER had to check luggage on business travel. They get a 1star and I haven't even left for the airport yet! Way to piss off your customers before they even arrive! read more

Let me begin by saying... you haven't flown until you fly on an Asian airline. I took this airline to my destination and used Korean Air on the way back. Both airlines... they're so different than these non-sense airlines we deal with here in America. Before I dive into this airline, I did want to note something that was a little annoying. The first 2 legs of my flight were through United. The 3rd and 4th legs were through Eva Air. Eva and United are part of the same alliance. At minimum, at least my bag was checked through to my final destination. The annoyance... United issued all four boarding passes at my origin. Sounds good, right? For some reason, when I got to Houston for my 3rd and 4th legs... Eva insisted on issuing completely different boarding passes. I'm not entirely sure why they couldn't use the perfectly good passes from United(their alliance partner). Minor inconvenience but whatever. As far as the airline goes though; The 3rd leg was a long one... 16 hours, 10 minutes to Taiwan. 4th leg... 2 hours from Taiwan to the Philippines. I can't begin to tell you how amazing this airline was. I do rank Korean Air a bit above just because the food was a bit better there. With that, the food was still amazing with Eva Air. The first noticeable thing is how many flight attendants they have on each flight. They're running back and forth and ready to assist with anything you might need. Their outfits alone... I think they have 5 different outfits for a flight... one for each meal... one for sleepy time... one for snack time... and so on. For the long leg, I was surprised that they supplied a pillow, blanket, eye mask, and headphones(for the in flight free entertainment). After my Montana trip, I always have my handy neck pillow when I fly but it was still nice to have the extras to begin this flight. The food was good. I will admit some of it wasn't great to be eating at 4 AM but for the most part, it was much better than it had any right to be. The movies, games, music, and TV they had available really made the 16 hours fly by. The seats should also be mentioned... I was able to sleep much better with Eva Air's seats when comparing it to other airlines I was on. In the future, if I'm bouncing between Asian countries, Eva Air is definitely one of the airlines at the top of the list to consider. read more

If you try to reach their customer service for booking the ticket but somehow it reach to the number +1877-451-0579. If there is 0 or below, they are there. They don't deserve any stars. I felt weird at first cause usually it supposed to let you choose English or Chinese customers. So I asked if this Eva Airline? (several times)He said yes even when I felt suspicious, he tried to convince me that they are the customer service. Anyway, I told him I wanted a three trip in my travel which I can't do that on the website so I try to contact them. He said okay and gave me an incredible price of the tickets but I did a research I know there is no way so high like that. Then he said he can look for better price see if he got coupon. And then return to me said he got the price $100 less the price I saw on there website. I was surprised how would he do that? But I still suspicious so I asked him if it's true cabin and mileage that I want. He said yes. When I saw the information online it's cabin M which stands for standard economic so I called them again told me as I know cabin M is standard and I only get 75% mileage not the UP economic I want which I will get 100% mileage. He said don't worry it's what I want. Somehow I feel it's not right so I try to called a different number and this time I reached to the real customer service. They said no we only have one number which is +18006951148, and they lie to me M class is not Up and you will not get 100% mileage. But there is nothing they can do, I can only cancel it through them. So I call this nasty person again, they said if you cancel it there will be $400 service fee. I said but I cancel right away, how can you charge me those money and you lie to me. They said keep saying there is nothing they can do. Very nasty, very disgusting people. Please friends, don't make the same mistake as I did. And I think Eva should do something to this agency cause they use their name to fool customers and that would damage their icons. read more

I'm about to board an airplane plastered with Hello Kitty all over it. It's a positive note to end with after the awful luggage check-in service we received. Eva Airways luggage check-in reps are equivalent to the Subways sandwich makers who count exactly how many olives you get on your sandwich. They are strict. Carry on luggage may not exceed exactly 15 lbs. Even if your first carry-on luggage is 17 lbs. and your second carry-on luggage is 3 lbs. they will make you get out of line to transfer the excess 2 lbs. into the other luggage. When it conforms to policy, they will tag the weight onto your carry-on. If you decide to transfer some of that weight back into the original bag, they will fine you $50! They have a person walking around the gate, armed with a hand (tension) scale, to re-weigh your bag! Talk about thirsty for money. If I wanted to check in my 17 lb. luggage, it would have cost $150. On my first experience with Eva Airways, their flight was delayed by 1 hour (so far). International flights are commonly connected with connecting flights which makes situations worse for a lot of passengers. Let's be prompt guys. The plane ride wasn't too bad. Everything is themed (you guessed it) Hello Kitty. The food, pillows, and even flight attendants! I don't mind this but it feels a bit over-the-top, especially if the safety instructions have Sanrio characters on it. I have more reason to not like Hello Kitty even more after flying with Eva Airlines. TIPS: -Make small talk with the representative weighing your bags. Be respectful and polite. -Free carts can be found towards the end of the check in counters. Don't pay $5 to use a cart for a few minutes. -Wear your heavy clothe and stuff as many items in your pocket if you come close to their weight limit. -Read all their rules and regulations online before going to the airport. -If you are being dropped off and the driver doesn't mind waiting, ask to stay close by until you checked in all your bags. Bring a roll of packing tape just in case you need to rearrange a luggage. read more

I suggest no one fly EVA airlines. I really am giving them ZERO stars. My wife and two small children are flying to Manila via Tapei out of IAH in Houston. First, there are so many glitches in trying to check in. So frustrating. Then, although the TSA said they would accept a gate pass to allow me to accompany my wife to the gate--all they required was for me to show an ID to EVA air, the check in people would not give me this pass. Mind you, on a similar flight a couple of years ago this was not a problem for ANA airline. The supervisor then tried to record me on his phone. WTF? Not easy to seats assigned--just all in all a bad experience with this second rate carrier. For those who have had similar problems with EVA Air I hope you will post your experience here. I enjoy flying EVA Air to Taipei and loved their Hello Kitty flight. I have been wanting to take this special flight for the longest time and could never get my schedule to line up with flight availability as it's always sold out. Service was excellent and professional as expected of Taiwan's sole international airline. Food was very good. I liked their congee meal and ramen noodle snack. They overfeed you which is not a bad thing. Of course all the Hello Kitty decorations and accessories were super fun! My flight was sold out as expected. read more

Consistency is a nice car. For a 5 star airline, the only consistency they had was the crappy food. Even Air France gives you better food. They have the smallest coffee cups I have ever encountered from a n y airline. As for wine, they give you a half plastic cup without the rest of the bottle. Flew IAH-TPE-MNL. Car seat not accepted and gate checked. Try making an infant sleep in a bassinet that is too short- for the first time. MNL-TPE. Got to use business boarding thanks to the extreme long lines and a grumpy kid. Same car seat is now somehow magically accepted. For my kid being tall, she was asked to be removed from the car seat, and placed directly in the regular airline seat. Front facing. At the age of 8 months. Airline policy, I believe is said to be age 2, or was it 3? TPE-IAH. Some grumpy dude in the seat in front of me bitched to the staff and 10 min later they came by and asked me to turn the car seat to front facing. Why? Cause a grown up "cant fold his seat", then I am asked to ignore and break airline policy that says car seats rear facing under two years old. He was moved with something that I am sure was not prayers and grace. Luckily he was no the only one able to curse in several languages... Next time I am flying SQ with an extra stop, but better food and service. And smiles. How hard can that really be? KL and SK can do it. So should you. I used them for my trip to Thailand in september and it was a good experience. We flew out of IAH and into Taiwan, then continued to Bangkok. Overall good service. All our flights were on time and the flight crew was nice and accomodating. Flight attendants were always walking around making sure everyone was ok. Trust me, in a 19 hr flight there are a lot of complainers (lol). I will definitely use them again! read more

Just got back from Singapore today. I decided to use Eva Air because they had the most affordable business class rates. This is by far the best in flight service I have ever received. Ms Yang ( I may have her name incorrect) was very attentive and took care of my every need. The food was ok...but obviously light years ahead of coach. If I ever decide to travel to Asia . This is my first time flying Eva air. This airline is extremely by the book so depending on your perspective this can be a good or bad thing I was pleased with how I was treated when checking in. They efficiently boarded the aircraft and we took off on time. I'll have to let you know in an update if my checked bag successfully makes it to Bangkok with a layover in Taipei. I have flown EVA Air to Jakarta, Indonesia, now 4 times in the last 18 months. I flew 3 times on economy and once on Premium Economy. While there are other options to Jakarta from Houston, there is no reason why to fly on any other airline. Their product is excellent no matter which cabin you fly on. In all my flights I have yet to have an unpleasant experience on this airline. The service is tops, the product, both economy and premium economy are excellent. I honestly cannot see how some people give this airline a one star review over really insignificant experiences that often times have nothing to do with the flight experience. If flying to Asia from the Houston area, actually from anywhere in north America, always check out EVA Air, you will be pleasantly surprised of their excellent product at a very fair price. read more

First time for Eva air. Last year in April 2016 I meet my sister in La. then from Lax. To Taipei brought round trip tickets. After we brought the tickets we decided we want to go Thailand. Brought another round trip tickets. I had the Milege pls with united air Line. The star alliance. So after I came back. I only get the credit mileage from Taipei to Bangkok and Bangkok to Taipei. Not from lax to Taipei and Taipei to Lax. So I call to united air line told what had happened. United air line told me they will send request to Eva and will take 2-3 weeks. After two months nothing happened So I called United again. Total 4 times. So I call my sister she said she get nothing also and she had Milege pls with Eva air. Great service from a class act airline. Very professional, very attractive and professional flight attendants (best in the industry). Even in economy you will feel like a king/queen. I think I gained weight on my flight lol. Unlimited free alcohol provided you can hold your liquor. Larger screens in every seat. Blankets, tooth brush, slippers, eat plugs, head phones are provided. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the experience with Eva Airways. I recently booked a ticket from Houston to Guangzhou for my father. The reservation had to be CHANGED because the flight that we booked and reserved was "no longer available". We were inconveniently changed to depart one day earlier, which creates even more inconvenience not only for my father who has to prepare to leave 24 hours earlier and miss a day of work, but also for those who have to go pick my father up from the airport in Guangzhou. I asked whether there would be another flight to Guangzhou, and the response was that it would take 2 more layovers, when I clearly paid for ONE layover. I called Eva Airways in Houston to see if they could at least (bare minimum) upgrade my father's seat so he can be comfortable on his trip. This request was denied. So, apparently, when Eva Airways make mistakes, the CUSTOMERS have to pay for their mistakes. This is absolutely the WORST experience I've ever encountered traveling internationally, and will be sure to let all friends and family know the disorganization of this company (all of a sudden cancelling flights and notifying customers 6 days before) and the poor customer service I received. It was my first time to fly in Houston Texas and first time with Eva Air from Houston George Bush Airport to Cebu Philippines with one stop in Taipei Taiwan. In going to Philippines my layover was only 1 hr so I hurried to get to the next gate and got in time and in coming back my layover was 8 hrs. The plane ticket cost me only 667.00 thats why I flew in Houston Texas instead of San antonio or Austin Texas ( I lived close to both airports). The food was good. In coming back from Phils I checked seafood and that was my mistake so Eva air served seafood my whole entire meal. I did not know. I thought it was only for the main course. The main course of seafood was very good- pasta with seafood salad, The seafood breakfast was okey and the snack was tuna sandwich. Next time when I book I will not indicate what food I want so I will get to choose the menu. There is always 2 choices for the main course. Flying to Phils I get to choose the menu and food was good. Eva Air is strict on carry on baggage- 15 lbs only and certain measurement. I did not have a problem with the weight of my baggage since I weigh them first and had read the previous Eva Air reviews before flying. Eva Air allows two 50 lbs check in baggage for free and 2 carry on. Once Im inside the airport waiting for my flight 2 Eva air attendants started weighing carry on baggage with a portable scale and check everybodys baggage. So I guess you pay if your carry on excess 15 lbs. Overall Im happy flying with Eva Air. I get to sleep and I think it has more leg room compare to other asian airlines I flew and staff keeps on feeding you. Next time I visit Phils I will definitely fly with Eva Air again read more

My review is for checking in only, if you guys are being helped by an Asian guy, name Vincent, make sure you have everything prefect with your luggages. I have never been outside of this country, so it was my first time checking in with passport, visa, and all. He wasn't friendly checking us in, which I could live with; I didn't even mind the cold looks he was giving me because I didn't know much about the protocol of checking in, for example: I needed to weigh my carry ons. (Keep in mind this is my first time flying out of the country. I few from state to state before and no one ever weighed my carry-on before.) At this point, I was trying to be understand that he could have had a long day dealing with unprepared first time flyers like myself, so I just let him be unfriendly and cold. As he continues to check in my things and other family's members luggages, we had a problem with my family members luggages being a few pounds over on the weight limit, 3lbs over. He started to tell us to get out of the line to repack to be able to comply with luggage regulations. Still I did not mind because we were early and I was still excited to just be going on vacation. As we were trying to get our things together to move, he started to talk to coworkers next to him in a different language. Clearly I did not understand them because I didn't speak their language but the one English word I could pick up while trying to listen to them was "idiots".... what a way to start my trip. So one star for my unfriendly Vincent (11pm shift/flight time) but being an optimist that I am, 2 star total because hello kitty is cute and I did not let one unfriendly "idiot" ruin the start of my trip.
