I'll say that the food is good, but... I just witnessed the supposed owner verbally abuse/yell at a mother with her baby over a simple request regarding the restaurant's booster seat. The owner then yelled at an employee who was rightfully standing up for the mother and then proceeded to fire him. If you don't mind supporting rude owners, this place does have pretty decent food. Appears to be a local hangout if you've got nowhere else to go. I would only recommend if you've been out drinking . Brought my family there as we'd heard good things. Not really sure who's been posting about this place, but not our thing. For 2 adults and 2 kids, it was almost 50.00. Which, hey, if there was ambiance, and you didn't have to order your food at the register, from off the wall. Then said 30 minutes I guess it'd be OK. Highly disappointed. Could have gone to Wendy's for less, and burgers would have been better. The kids mac n cheese was cold and hard. I don't think any of us ate very many fries, they didn't taste very good. Bottom line, if you've been out drinking and don't care too much about what you're eating, and you're in the neighborhood stop by. read more

My recent visit to Emma Keys was amazing. Their burgers are seriously the most delicious I have ever had. I had the veggie Diablo burger but tried bites of everyone in my family and they were all SO GOOD. The new owners have truly elevated the menu and everything overall in this charming spot. The patio is adorable, incredibly welcoming, and just the perfect place to gather with friends for some community vibes and great food. It's also kid-friendly and dog-friendly. With great hunger waiting a long line elsewhere we decided to leave another restaurant and check this place out. We had a great time and we're so glad we were able to be seated right away. The restaurant is small but they have inside and outside seating. The staff is friendly and fun (they were singing along freely to the radio) I was happy to see the gluten free bun on the menu! Long wait - staff was bringing in friends and talking to them. They were distracted, and the food was cold.

Picked up an order for dinner. Called it in and took about 30 minutes for them to have it ready. They now offer beyond burger patties and we got them on the Cajun and the lone star (no bacon). The burgers were made well but the condiments got soaked up in the patty or bun- so ask for extra next time you order. Also whatever pimento cheese they use is delicious, skip getting cheese fries and order Carolina fries. read more

Went for the first time on my lunch break and got there around 2:30. It wasn't busy so I was able to order quickly which was great. That was about the only great thing. I waited 20 minutes for my food (which wouldn't have been a problem if was busy) and it was okay. I got the burger with mushrooms and Swiss but substituted for a Turkey party and omitted the bacon jam sauce and instead got ranch. For $12 it was just okay, I don't plan on coming back anytime soon. read more

Been here a dozen times or so over the last 10 years. I'd like to go more often, but we don't get over to Lindley Park too often. Emma's is a modest place with a straight forward burger and fries menu, not fancy, but very well executed at a modest price. It's just a good Friday evening meal. Unsuspecting diner with deceptively delicious burgers! This review is based on food, service, cleanliness, atmosphere, and value. The food is good! Craft burgers are their specialty, and they do a fantastic job of executing an array of different specialty burgers on the menu. You can also BYO if so desired. Inside is small, but cozy. It's dated, and is in desperate need of a complete makeover. Some say that gives it a unique characteristic, but I believe that can be maintained while bringing the building up-to-date. Service is good, cleanliness is okay, and the value isn't bad. Overall, a good place for a burger! Lots of activities laying around, coloring books, crayons, rubik's cubes, trivia, etc... This place was delicious for lunch. They make the hot dog and hamburgers to order so it can be a longer wait if they are busy. Outside seating wasn't cleaned too well but there was a huge auxiliary fan which was nice to keep flies away. I ordered the western burger and a Carolina hot dog With rosemary garlic fries. The fries are thick and pretty tasty but not too crispy. The chili was really good on the hot dog and I was kinda mad that I forgot to add on chili to my burger. Reviews said that this place was comparable to Hops?!! Absolutely not! (Sorry Emma, girl) the burgers are large but everything is A la carte except kids meals but flavor was decent but not that of a HOPS burger. I also tried The pound cake sundae It's so buttery, & lightly sweetened large slice of pound cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. we have eaten quite a few burgers from Emma Keys last two times, the wait was way too long. Tonight's burger was not cooked thoroughly and one of the buns was broken apart. it was a take out order. Burger was not juicy and was lacking seasoning. hope things will improve. read more

#SuperHubs googled the best burgers in town, and this place was on the list. So we decided to give it a go. When we arrived, however, we almost decided to leave because there was no parking available. The parking lot right beside this place was for patrons of the restaurant beside it only. And there was no parking on the street. However, luckily, the business across the street from them is closed on Tuesdays so we were able to park there. Therefore, when you go be prepared for the parking hassle. All in all, it was a great experience with the food. The hamburger was really, really good and fresh. And if you go and do not grab you an order of the sweet potato fries, your taste buds will riot! Also, be aware that the dining room is closed, but they do have tables where you can eat outside. And, to order you have to walk up to an outside window and they still require you to wear a mask, even though you're outside. One of the two reasons that I'm giving them only four stars is, besides the parking situation, they do not have any tea or lemonade. They have only canned drinks and bottled water. THIS, dear reader, is what a patty melt is supposed to taste like. And it should come as no surprise. I sat at the counter behind the cook and his assistants and bore witness to the painstaking way they prepare each person's lunch with individual attention. The freshness and quality of the ingredients were readily apparent. I could see everything--the freshness of the veggies (one of the assistants chopped the onions right there before putting them on my hot dog), another worker making fresh ranch, the obvious freshness of the ground beef as it was placed on the grill, fries made fresh and not allowed to sit, etc. Side note: sorry to use the word "fresh" so much, but it was so pervasive here. And I'm not done using it yet lol. They have a system here to ensure top quality and a hot, fresh meal. They make maybe 6 to 10 burgers at a time, watch over them carefully, and make the fries as each batch of burgers nears doneness. Meanwhile, they have put out trays in which to place the meals. Then they work together to assemble the orders, which are then taken to the tables with dispatch. My patty melt was delightful. The rye bread was delicious and grilled perfectly. The amounts of cheese, russian dressing, and grilled onions complimented the excellent patty beautifully. This was an outstanding patty melt. Hot dog all the way: excellent wiener, tasty chili and slaw, and freshly chopped onions. A very good hot dog. Fries: hot, fresh, and delicious. Simply put: an excellent meal. There are a few other things to be aware of at Emma Key's: First, parking can be an issue. There is no parking lot, so you will have to find street parking and hoof it. I did not have a problem, but the potential is there. Second, it is very small inside. But I think this is helpful to them in making such a quality product. Thirdly, you will pay a fairly high price. But as I have said before, I will gladly pay a high price if the food quality warrants it. At Emma Key's, it does. read more

Ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and a side of bacon. The bacon was burnt almost beyond recognition. Unfortunately I had it delivered or I would have refused it. I called and spoke with manager Dan. He indicated that he was the one that cooked my order and that the bacon was originally undercooked so he "cooked it some more". He also indicated that the order could have been messed up by the delivery driver. I was unaware Uber Eats drivers carry a grill or an oven in their car. Exploring more restaurants with Vegan-friendly foods. I rate my experience as a 3.5/5 overall. *Summary at bottom* Food: 7.5/10 Customer Service: 4/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 *Note: I may be harsh, but very fair and very, very honest with my reviews* To start, The restaurant is quite small and parking could be an issue if they get busy; I parked on the street nearby and thankfully didn't have trouble. Very compact inside, but there was room when I dined. For food, got the Zeke's Vegan Patty (7.25$ I believe) with jalapeños, lettuce, red onion, mustard, bell pepper, and some other pepper they had. They hear the bun on a grill of some sort. Fries do not come with the meal, something I find surprising and slightly disappointing. The burger was a 7.5/10, with a 10 being a burger from Barley and Burger. It looked slightly over- cooked on the outside but didn't taste that way. As biting through it, the texture was decent and why it holds up on a 1-10 scale. They were not really busy, so I didn't expect my burger to be wrong....I had pickled jalapeños whereas my friend appeared to have regular ones and I was not given the impression there was the option of the two, I also asked for mustard on the side and it was on the burger. I did not get to see if they cooked the burger on the same grill as the meat-burgers, I would hope they didn't, and could not taste any remnants of meat so that was a relief as I was watching them cook double cheese burgers, bacon, etc on the grill. The bun, I have not gotten used to be pesky when asking to make sure EVERYTHING is vegan yet. I also articulated some kind of response from the staff to make sure everything is vegan, as this is the customer service I get from other Vegan-friendly restaurants. With the hope that the bun is vegan, as it seemed to be there only option, I would've liked to be told it would be heated on a grill as I don't like my buns crunchy and mine was kinda hard when it was served. I ordered a small side of sweet potato fries (+3.25$) and they were good. They serve the fries with a side of some (I'm assuming) house-made sweet sauce. After asking, because again I was not told it would be served, if the sauce was vegan I was told it is not. This was unfortunate as it had also been set in my tray and was spilling onto my burger........ May come back another time, will definitely call and ask if there are other options for buns though. As well as calling ahead of time to see if the Vegan burgers and meat burgers are cooked on the same grill. The price was not bad (~11$) after tax, but given making a Vegan burger is FAR LESS expensive to make than a meat burger, I don't see the need to charge them at about the same price AND fries be separate. We used to come to Emma Keys often. Today was our first time back since 2020 and we left very disappointed. Bragged to a few friends about how great it was and none of us enjoyed our burgers. The meat was flavorless (per all 5 of us) and the buns were too thick and "stale-ish-ly" crumbling apart. Missed the flat top char. The two-way fries were the only good thing about our visit. After not finishing our burgers, one of our friends ordered and paid for a milkshake that they apparently forgot to make. After 10 or so minutes of waiting, I had to walk up to the counter and ask about it so they would make it. This place serves up a suppppperrrr yummy burger, thats for sure! They are taking covid precautions and aren't currently open for dine in, but if you go on a pretty day you can enjoy it on the patio! I usually bring my pup with me too :) the food comes out quickly and the meat is good quality along with the veggies! Just down the road from uncg as well. Almost didn't see this little place when we followed the gps directly to it. But Yelp said it existed and that it had gluten free buns. I called to verify and the guy said yes they do have gf buns and any of the burgers or sandwiches could be made gluten free. However the fries are cooked in a shared fryer so technically not safe for celiac. The fries. You get a HUGE amount of fries. Half a paper bag full! We had plenty of fries to nibble on and some left over after getting full. I did taste a few fries and I'm super sensitive to everything and my lips did feel a little tingly...not sure if it was the pepper or maybe the oil they use. (I can't do peanuts or sesame) but no tummy issues. No symptoms from gluten. And I usually know within 20-30 minutes. Now the burger. I love the option to build your own because I'm picky. I like this and not that and take this off and add this...it frustrating, I'm sure. So to just build my own makes it much easier. It was fabulous. I had pimento cheese, jalapeños, onion, and pickles. My mouth is watering thinking about how delicious it was. My three girls also had gf buns. My husband and son had regular buns with the LoneStar burger and both said it was definitely in their top 3 (note: we've been to MANY burger joints, and they are super excited this one is kinda close to home and top notch:) Also, the tea was really good to me and my girls, but my husband and son thought it wasn't sweet enough. But I prefer tea to syrup. The tea at Emma Keys was just right. Not too sweet not too bland. It had a good tea flavor and was sweetened perfectly (for me anyway;) The sweet girl taking our order was awesome. The two fellas cooking up the magic were fantastic. Each of them seemed to be part of the team and worked together to get our huge order out the door quickly but most importantly correctly. They communicated well. And I saw gloves changed several times while preparing our food. Thank you! My only complaint is not enough seating on the inside to accommodate a large group. But!! We definitely plan on coming back in warmer weather to enjoy the patio. And I know we'll be back many times for just a quick, delicious bite. So glad I found y'all!! Keep up the great job! P.S.
