    Jalapeño Cheese Tamales
    Stephanie H.

Fresh-tasting tamales with natural/healthy ingredients! Tried four different types of tamales, rice, beans, and salsa. The tamales I tried were the Red Chili Chicken Tamales, Chicken Tamales, Jalapeño Cheese Tamales and Chipotle Tofu Veggie Tamales. I personally didn't care for the Chipotle Tofu Veggie, but I really enjoyed the other three. The Jalapeño Cheese Tamales were my favorite, they had a good amount of kick to them. I definitely recommend getting the salsa to go with the tamales; it adds a lot to the flavor. Side note: I noticed there wasn't consistency in the sizing of the tamales, some were much smaller than others. I love that they have vegetarian and vegan options!

My mom and I stumbled upon this place on accident and I am so glad that we did. We weren't really expecting to see any vegan options so we were shocked when we saw that they had vegetarian and vegan menus with so many options. Fun fact, the kind worker informed us that the owner actually started this restaurant as a vegetarian/vegan spot, so cool! We ordered every single vegetarian and vegan tamale on the menu. They were all extremely flavorful and delicious, but our favorite was the pumpkin tamale by far. It was amazing. We also took home some pork tamales for my brother and he loved them. I'm happy that we now know that there's a local spot that offers bomb tamales, I'll definitely revisit soon. Thank you!

    Hibiscus tea so refreshingly delicious.

I've been a lunch customer at the Power Inn location for at least the last 5 years and I promise the tamales are a hit!!! I love the family style service and it just feels like home. My personal favorite is the green chili chicken. My husband is vegan and there's options for him as well. In my opinion 5 stars easy.

Helloooooo tamales! What? Vegan tamales too? Five or more different types of vegan tamales?? I simply must! Noticed this spot off of busy power inn road and had to stop. They sell tamales in larger quantities if you preorder! I'll be freezing these beauties and systematically eating them over the next few months! So happy I found Emma's Tamales! Maria, the sweet employee, was kind, knowledgeable and professional! I felt very welcomed here. Highly recommend

finally had Emma's tamales . After years of finally able to try Emma's tamales I now would say im not eating there again . They are just okay they aren't the best tamales but they are just okay . 1 stars for flavor , food representation, restaurant atmosphere, restaurant staff the restaurant cleanliness the parking the location . The girl working there is not welcoming at all she never will say hi , she will not say welcome in , she won't say how are you , she doesn't talk speak in any way just stands there and waits for you to order and will turn the iPad for you to leave a tip it's not cool at all . :| Other customers came inside and it's the same thing . tamales are very plain and have no flavor at all you will definitely need salsa and salt from another restaurant because the salsa was also very watery no flavor . It was very disappointing everything about Emma's Tamales the food the workers staff and the restaurant atmosphere is only a 1 star and only because the food was warm . 20 dollars for 5 tamales sucks :( very small no flavor very expensive no friendly staff workers . Simple not coming back . It's hard to find good tamales . This place is only okay because it is only thing close to home food at least that and for that it's 1 stars . Most of all the staff played a part in it . Being the face of the company when you're the first person a customer sees should be welcoming friendly and inviting . Also they have a dog that just starts to bark at you when you walk in under the table. Also the total cost was $27 and some change because of the coke in glass bottle . SHE DIDNT EVEN OPEN THE COKE BOTTLE HAD TO USE A LIGHTER IN POCKET OF MINE : ( the WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS AWFUL HONESTLY

Best tamales around town, apart from the ladies selling them in the Walmart parking lot lol! If you are looking for authentic tasting tamales come here!

You have to look closely to find it because it sits quietly on the second floor directly above Thai Basil on J Street. You can take the slow elevator or use the stairs to reach a gorgeous, sunlit balcony and dining room filled with art from local creators. Service: A bit slow, but friendly. Space: Tiny and limited, but they maximize the space by fitting in a bar, art displays, indoor dining, and the balcony seating. I noticed the waitress constantly rearranging the table settings depending on the party size. One thing I did notice was that the wood floor in the balcony area squeaks pretty loudly whenever someone walks to or from their table, including the waitress coming in and out. Restroom: One tiny unisex restroom. Recommended: Savory crepe (chickpea, coconut turmeric), Breakfast burrito, Crispy Potato Taquitos, and Blue Butterfly Lemonade. Everything was surprisingly rich and had complex flavors. Definitely a fun little spot to discover if you enjoy plant-based food!

My boyfriend is a vegetarian and was so happy to find this gem of a Vietnamese vegetarian…read morerestaurant. I'm a meat lover who can enjoy the health benefits of eating more vegetables. The food was pretty good. I really enjoy how fresh their spring rolls appetizers are. I recommend the one with shredded taro, sweet potato, and tofu! The Bun Bo Hue style dish was like a 4/5 just because the soup was very toned down compared to Bun Bo Hue broths that I'm used to (which are prepared with meat, but are also just much more spicy and flavorful with a strong lemongrass kick). This broth flavor was very muted flavor-wise. It's probably healthier than the meat-version since it's very light and not fatty and heavy like the broth I am used to, so that's a plus. I really like the selection of tofu and soy proteins (a ham and beef vegetarian alternative) included. The soup also has delicious mushrooms. However, what brings my rating down is the ambience. The first time I came here to dine-in back in winter was fine. But for whatever reason, I had such a strange experience this second time around and had to share it so that hopefully no one else has to experience this. The music is the same song on endless loop, which can feel a bit odd. But what was odder was the fact that the restaurant seemed to be a one woman show. The server was taking care of my table (my boyfriend and I were the ONLY people dining in the restaurant), fulfilling the online orders and checking those people out upon arrival, and dealing with the unhoused individuals who were constantly coming by the restaurant for free water... in addition to watching her dog? The service was basically non-existent because the dog kept running out of the restaurant and the server was constantly running after it. I usually base good service on how frequently our water cups are refilled. During the whole hour we were there, both my partner and I had finished our water cups (I finished my water within the first 20 minutes of arrival) and not once were they refilled. It was impossible to even ask for a refill. It took us a solid 10 minutes after finishing our food to get a to-go container and a check. It was hard for the server to be attentive when so much was going on, but it was just not good service-wise. It was honestly such a strange experience, and I will not be coming back to dine-in.
