I've had the pleasure of enjoying the delicious food from 1837 Vegan at the Kaiser Farmer's Market and at several events around Sacramento, and they never disappoint! The jackfruit tacos and BBQ jackfruit burger are a must have. They are so flavorful and satisfying. This is actually tasty vegan food. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful. They always take the time to explain what to try and even share how the food is good for your body, which I truly appreciate. Their booth is always well organized with items and prices clearly listed, and their signage makes them easy to spot. The ambience at their booth is welcoming, vibrant, and positive, making the whole experience enjoyable from the moment you walk up. I also love that they offer workshops and cooking classes, which shows their commitment to educating the community about healthy, plant-based living. Well, I drove down to 1837 Vegan, located at 1829 22nd street Sac, Ca and ordered the Jack Fruit Tacos, along with the Mac-N-Cheese, organic fries, and the oyster mushroom, all of which came with unique & delicious sauces... People, "The Hype" is legit, the food was delicious & cooked to perfection! As I sat down to eat all that I ordered, I said to myself, because I ordered so much I'd take the leftovers home. I had this at a food truck at a vegan event and it was some of the best food I've ever had period. I had the loaded fries and my bf who is not vegan ate most of them! That's how good the food is. And t he chef is amazing, his personality and passion are very apparent! It was a pleasurable experience all the way around. I look forward to going back and will post pics and reviews at that time. I just had the barbecue jackfruit mac & cheese hamburger with greens on top. First they let me sample the barbecue jackfruit and it tasted like barbecued pulled pork! The guy and gal looked like they were a couple and were people of color so all the more reason why I recommend them. Everything on this menu is absolutely delicious. So flavorful and well crafted and truly made with love. And if you're blessed enough to chat with the mastermind behind these incredibly delicious meals you'll quickly find yourself in great hands. Pharaoh is one of the hardest working people I've ever seen. Truly a master of the craft and so passionate about not just the food but the community. He used to be what I referred to as a one man show- rain or shine never stopped him. But Ive seen him with a lot more help more recently (especially at the Sacramento mid town farmers market Saturdays) because it's no longer a secret how freakin insane these flavors are. My go to is the mushroom tacos (or chefs plate for a mix of goods). He uses all fresh local ingredients for all of his dishes. Truly community made and there's nothing better than that. And his handcrafted sauce... I can't rave enough..... soooooo good, and the most impressive blend of flavors. And every time I've stopped by its made just a little different- but never short of a blessing to the palate. Actually just makes it more exciting to see what he's come up with next. I was at a vegan pop up event today with lots of vegan choices but decided to eat here as there is so much "buzz" surrounding the food. A few items were sold out as I went to order and I took that as a good sign. I ordered 2 tacos ($10) one BBQ jackfruit and one oyster mushroom. After a bit of a wait I got my food. They say you eat with your eyes and I noticed that the corn tortilla shells looked like they were dipped in oil to be softened. and each taco did not have much inside of it. The jackfruit taco was just way too sweet for my taste, I moved onto the oyster and it was a bit stringy the tortilla was falling apart so it was difficult to eat and it did not have much in it. I am sorry as I am not a fan. I wanted really hard to like it but the cost and quality was just not their. Maybe it was that they were selling out and it was near the end of service? read more

The first time I tried 1837 was when they were outside of a hair salon in Midtown. Pharoah introduced himself and his wife and was so welcoming.. All vegan and the offerings may vary but typically it's burgers and tacos.. if there's Peach Cobbler, I gotta get some of that. I've had a burrito and received two small burritos, sauced up so it wasn't a hand held type of eat but fork and knife. There may be a happy hour or specials time where there's a deal for certain food during a time frame.. follow 1837 on Instagram to get that info. Sea Moss beverages are also available. Sea Moss, you know.. is all the rage with health benefits. I've learned Pharaoh also takes part in teaching the community vegan cooking.. At times meal prepped meals are also available. Such a gem in Sacramento and for Sacramento! 1837 has so several options and each done extremely well! Through several different visits, I've had the crispy chicken oyster mushroom sandwich (MY FAVE!), the burgers, the tacos, the desserts, and the siiiiddddeeeessss...all sooo good. Fresh ingredients cooked and seasoned to perfection, and all made with love by Chef Pharaoh. Sometimes they even offer their jackfruit bbq "jack pack" and bbq sauce you can buy to take home to make your own sandwiches! It was just before closing time at the Midtown Farmer's Market and i looked across the street and saw "VEGAN" -- so naturally we made a bee line for the food truck. They were pretty much sold out of everything (that's just awesome!) but they were able to put together a Falafel burger and fries for us. They two men making the food were super nice and even though it was pretty much the end of the market they made us a great plate of food. The Falafel burger was very tasty, saucey, and had really good flavor. The bun wasn't the best I've ever had and I'm a bread fanatic so I'm a little picky about bread -- it was the end of the day so I'll give the bun a pass. The fries -- ahhhhhh....crispy cut fried potato strips drenched in a super sauce, that's all I can say. Some type of super, BBQey, saucey sauce. Thanks for feeding us! read more

My partner and I have eaten at 1837v at least four times without disappointment. Our favorite is the oyster mushroom tacos...delicious. The service is great, ingredients are quality, and the owner is as chill as they come, always smiling. I'm going to keep supporting this fantastic food in hopes it becomes a brick-and-mortar in Sac. We saw this booth on Saturday at the Animal Care Faire at the dog park at the Bradshaw animal shelter. Has several options. I ordered an inhouse made burger. My wife selected the Mushroom burger, and the grandkids shared the Mojo fries. The burger was absolutely great on nice grilled bread to hold it together and nice toppings with spinach and mushrooms. Wife enjoyed her mushroom burger and the Mojo fries that I borrowed from the kids were great and seasoned nicely with two different types of dipping sauces. I told the cook that on a scale from 1 to 10 I give the food a 14. This guy is absolutely a food artist. if you see this booth, treat yourself to an excellent meal. 1837 Vegan in general is an excellent choice for delicious, filling, and healthful food. Pharaoh and family are wonderful people and truly believe in what they do- making and sharing the best food around! I asked 1837 to cater a rehearsal dinner for 40 people and Pharaoh provided us with a menu of so much amazing food! This was many people's first time trying a fully vegan meal, and everyone was so impressed. Pharaoh cooked everything by himself, and shared his story with lots of curious family and friends. As a pescatarian I'm sometimes leery of vegan places because the flavor isn't always there or I don't get filled up. But once I came across the photos of 1837s menu, I had to try them! I ordered the Cauliflower Joe (a fried cauliflower burger) and it was amazing! The flavor, the sauce, it filled me up, & my child who doesn't like cooked vegetables kept asking me for more of mine!
