Been coming here for about 10 years. The original owner was so lovely and had such pride in the place and the food, you could feel it. The new owner is just as hospitable, if not more. The food is consistently delicious, leaving full but wanting more. The space is small, clean and comfortable. The staff keep both the inside and outside patio clean and tables tended to. The little cactus special is easily my favorite breakfast dish in all of Sacramento! My husband loves the enchiladas. And the salsa bar is such an added plus! The food here is fantastic and service is friendly and efficient. There's a small salsa bar where they have yummy chopped roasted Jalapeno that went very well with my Nopalito Omelette. I also got a side of Guac. That was yummy too. My husband had the Huevos Rancheros. They served it differently than other places. There wasn't a tortilla under the eggs. Instead the tortillas came on the side. He actually liked it this way. My son had the breakfast burrito with bacon and cheese. I don't remember what my friend's dish was called. After a 14 hour night shift in the hospital, I weighed my options of either passing out on the couch or stopping somewhere for breakfast. I was pretty hard-set on the first choice until passing through J Street. Something about the 8am serenity and (relatively) pedestrian-friendly environment in East Sac... ah what the hell. A breakfast burrito would suffice. More specifically, Nopalito's chorizo breakfast burrito would suffice. Good protein to carb ratio and even better taste when combined with either of the salsas. A little on the oily side, but not enough to take away from its deliciousness. For a second, I thought about dining in despite being in a sleep-deprived state. Wonderful family owned and operated business with a care for quality and service. The menu is varied with breakfast plates and burritos with eggs any time and way you like and even big fluffy pancakes. The potatoes on the side are to die for with big flavors and browned just right. Everything is tasty and processed are reasonable so experiment with different options. You can see why it's so crowded and well-liked here- the reviews are real. Delicious food, drinks, and excellent service. The breakfast burrito was a huge portion, and very tasty at that. The chips and salsa, especially the green salsa, were incredible! I love a good brunch meal on the weekends... we went on a Sunday, and while it was crowded, like I said I do believe it was worth the wait. They have plenty of options, and they are vegetarian and vegan friendly. Basically- The food was great. Service was great too! Altogether a great experience at a cute little restaurant. I docked a star only because the seating arrangements could use some re-organization. I am hyper-vigilant of ADA compliance (to which this business respects it!!) however I do believe the restaurant could be easier to navigate if the seats were rearranged. Right off the bat, shout out to the staff for being so nice and accommodating as I didn't know they have a break and separate lunch menu as my objective was to try some pancakes! My boyfriend finally took me to Nopalitos on a Saturday and I was shocked how popular it was. It was my first time seeing this restaurant after living in sacramento my whole life. I've been here about five different times and have only ever ordered the breakfast burrito. After trying multiple meats, I'd recommend getting the chorizo as the meat and adding cheese. I feel as though the bacon made the burrito a bit too salty, but the chorizo was just perfect Potatoes are not too crispy but it does not affect the flavor profile negatively. No one comes to take our order they just keep passing us by. So I asked him where his ATM was and he said he didn't have one ?!?! He said I have to walk to the liquor store. I discovered Nopalito's many years ago. It's in East Sacramento in the same shopping center that The Beat used to be in for years. I loved the food there, but the hours they were open were limited to breakfast and lunch M-F. It just wasn't all that convenient to get there. Fast forward to recently walking with friends around McKinley Park and us wanting lunch afterwards. We went to Nopalito's. I was surprised that neither of my friends had heard of it. ( Boy, were they in for a pleasant surprise.) I ordered the spicy pork quesadilla. My friends ordered various taco plates. We took our numbers to an outside table to sit as we had our well-behaved dog with us. The plates came out quickly. Since we all had skipped breakfast and we're hungry, this was welcome. Then I noticed the hours posted. They were now open until 8pm! I'm going to be eating here more often, now! Apparently, there's a new owner, and that's the reason for the expansion of hours. read more
