I had been meaning to stop here for years, I've heard great things and I love being able to try vegan spots. While I'm not vegan, I always appreciate great food. I stopped in while in the area to pick up takeout, I found street parking right next to the restaurant and was able to walk right in to order. They have a waiting/ordering area as soon as you walk in and a dining area to the back right. The staff member who helped me was very kind and friendly. I had looked at the menu on Yelp ahead of stopping in and ended up getting the eggplant basil lunch ($12). This came with white rice and a crispy roll (vegan egg roll). They had me take a seat to wait and it was ready really quickly. I had to hold the takeout bag by the handles because the styrofoam container was HOT. You could tell they made it fresh. Even by the time I made it home it was still very hot. I realized it was so hot the it melted the styrofoam a bit, as well as the little sauce container inside. The crispy roll was my favorite part, and the sauce paired really well with it. I would absolutely get a full order of these next time. The eggplant was also delicious and the portion was very generous. You definitely need the rice to soak up the sauce because it's very saucy. For me, I think it needed a little extra salt but I would definitely order it again. read more

I'm sorry but this was some of the worst vegan food we've had in a long time. It's affordable and they give you generous portions, but it's not good. We ordered eggplant with tofu; not only was the eggplant so overcooked it was disintegrating, somehow the bottom of the styrofoam container completely gave out, like it had been placed on something hot and melted. The wonton soup had decent wontons (they did explode but still), but the veggies were so overcooked. We got orange nuggets which were upsettingly smooth on the outside and way too sweet. The only decent item was the Mongolian wonder and even that was chewy and lacking flavor. Everything was bland and felt it had been sitting out for too long. I'm not even vegan and vegans deserve better than this. read more

I loved this spot! Great food, great gluten free options as well as being 100% vegan. I had the green bean tofu which was so delicious. It was very garlicky and the tofu itself was such a yummy, crisp texture. Service was really fast, but there was also nobody here at 12pm on a Saturday. The man here was very nice. Took my hubs here because I read a few reviews where non vegans loved it. We got there right when they opened. We were welcomed in. We got our food quickly. So much to choose from. We chose Mongolian Wonder as many said they liked it. It was very good. Amazed that I wasn't real meat. Flavor spot on smoky grilled flavor with onions and peppers. I chose the basil eggplant. It is always good in Asian restaurants and here was no exception. Eggplant cooked to the right texture not too soft with a nice chew. It was in a wonderful basil sauce. In addition to being good food what amazed me was the price for the large amount of food. Our two dishes could have fed 4 people for around $30. We'll be back to try more dishes. Customer service is great. I came in at 1, and was greeted with a smile and brought to a seat by the window. Water was on the table as fast as I sat down and got comfortable. Looking over the menuI just couldn't decide what I wanted, so I asked for the most popular dish. #22 BBQ Vermicelli and off he went. Everything on the menu looks good! The food came out and I was in awe at how the *meat/protein looked. It looked just like meat, tasted so amazing. The texture was better than anything I have ever had. The flavors...wow. I love this place! Have been coming here for at least ten years. I remember when the lunch specials used to be $4.95 :') (Au Lac Veggie) Yesterday we got the cabbage salad (loved it!), wonton soup (good), mixed vegetable and the eggplant with black bean lunch specials. Both were great! Had plenty of food to take home for later! This place is great for leftovers! Had two Thai teas.....oh! And orange nuggets to go. Lots of breading, but good! What? I havent reviewed this place yet? Crazy!! I tried them over a year ago for the first time and was hooked. I personally love the Kung pow chicken (spell check) because of the chewing of the protein, the amount of large chunks of vegetables, but it's all good. My first time trying them was on my birthday with my sister. The portions are huge and the quality is fresh. The price is unbeatable. The location isn't the best, but the owners are so sweet and everything is so fresh. It's an old building, but the decor is a lot of positive affirmations and it just is a cool little place. Placed a phone pick up order on a weekend and the order was ready in 10-15 minutes. We ordered their chow mein wonder, eggplant basil, and garlic wonder. Everything was delicious but our favorite had to be the chow mein wonder. It was perfectly seasoned and had a well balanced of beef, vegetables and noodles. We asked to add fried tofu in our eggplant basil and it was very flavorful. The garlic wonder was well seasoned but a bit on the dry side. The slices of tomatoes and cucumbers on the side were a nice touch. Love how everything here is vegan and reasonably priced! Unfortunately we devoured our meal before I could take any pictures. I went there today and ordered the BBQ Vermicelli and tried the Au Lac for the first time. I was in the area so I figured I'd stop by for lunch since I haven't been there in a while. Glancing at their menu, I can see significant changes in the price of their dishes. As for the quality and taste, it has stayed the same. They are now TAKE OUT ONLY and have converted their inside dining into storage space. I believe their hours have also changed so check before you visit. BBQ Vermicelli. The protein they used is chewy and slightly tough unlike Loving Hut's version of the same dish--I prefer LH's version best. I prefer it because it has different types of 'protein' and the bite and chew is easy. The sauce from Anna's is bland versus the one at LH has flavor. The fried eggrolls are ok. It's minced so when I dip it in the sauce provided, the filling just drops so I'm left with just the wrapper. There's nothing great about this dish or any interest in going out of my way to get it. Au Lac. This dish is dry. The 'protein' is dry. The sauce they provided is simply Italian salad dressing, the one you get at the store and a bed of lettuce and slices of tomatoes. I wouldn't buy this again but I am curious about LH's version if it's better. There's nothing great about this dish or any interest in going out of my way to get it. My original review was based on the early years of being vegan in Sacramento when offerings were far and few in between. Now, there are many options that offer better quality that justifies the price, and also where you can dine inside. If you're craving Vietnamese-style vegan food, just drive a little further to Elk Grove and visit Loving Hut. read more

I'm definitely coming back and recommending Anna's to everyone bc of how good and huge the portion sizes are. I got the bbq vermicelli (7.95), the salad (5.95), Mongolian wonder (7.50), and the broccoli delight (7.50)! The difference between The wonder dishes and the delight dishes is that the wonder dishes are beef style and the delight dishes are chicken style! Everything was delicious my favorite would have to get the salad and the Mongolian wonder. The Mongolian wonder had a wonderful slight spice to it and the salad, I didn't know that it came with all the meat that it did but it did and it's a very great price for what it was! Highly recommend if you're looking for a bit of a healthy version! The people who work here are super kind, helpful, and hard working.
