Lunch special - 3 savory empanadas and a soda for $8.95
    Maegan M.

I had lunch at the Emapanda Factory in Cypress today (Barker Cypress/Queenston) and it was great! I tried 3 baked empanadas - spinach and cheese, curry chicken vegetable, and the saltena. The dough was light and flaky and the filling was delicious on each of them, but the saltena was my favorite. They have a great lunch special as well - 3 empanadas with a soda for $8.95.

Just opened today! Finally. Been waiting.

Outstanding empanadas. Get them deep fried or baked. Just opened today after delays. Staffing? Same owners as the one on SW Fwy. So glad to have one closer to home. Just Tuesday through Sunday until things get rolling. Behind Shell/Burger King. Will probably have some growing pains first few weeks, but try the empanadas. You will not be disappointed.

Super excited to have a new place & one dedicated to empanadas! I had the baked chicken, cheese & onion, and the mushroom; all fantastic. Husband had ham & cheese, Mediterranean beef, and sausage; all yum. Definitely will be back.

We came for the specialty market to buy some items from Argentina. This place was packed with every table taken and several people waiting on a Sunday at 3pm so it must be really good. We saw homemade alfores which I absolutely love and they even had the crackers we love at their small market. With pictures of Argentina and Messi on their walls you tell the warm friendly atmosphere although busy. Will definitely return for lunch or dinner after reading the Yelp reviews. Needless to say, those 30 minutes are worth it and I've already been twice! There is free parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in Latin America. The decor is pretty neat and they sell traditional Argentinian candy, snacks and chocolates. We tried the Argentinian empanadas (because of course we had to) as well as the choripán and they were good but my favorite by far was the Chinchulines (small intestine a.k.a. chitterlings). Yum! Service has been great both times. If you are interested in having an alcoholic drink, call ahead of time to inquire as you are able to bring a bottle of wine but there is a corkage fee. I will DEFINITELY be back!

We didn't get to try a lot of items on their menu so my impression is limited to what we ordered. For appetizers, we had a variety of empanadas (spicy ground beef, chicken chipotle, italian, fugazetta). All are very tasty and probably one of the best items they have. The chimichurri that comes with them is a stand-out. We had the platter of mixed meats (parrillada che gaucho) that included 3 kinds of sausages, chicken breast, sweetbread, short rib, flank and skirt steaks. The sausages were good, the chicken was standard grilled chicken breast and the beef cuts were pretty tough (our knives had a really hard time cutting through them). Again, the chimichurri is the star and makes the meats much better. It came with 2 sides so we chose asparagus and fries tossed in garlic+parsley. For dessert, we had an apple maple empanada and a banana dulce de leche empanada with ice cream. Both are delicious but that banana one is a must-try. Fabulous.

We were seated and given a tour of the menu and some suggested options to try. Once the order was placed and the appetizers arrived, the chef came out, introduced himself and spoke to us what we liked best and answered questions about each item. He also came out after the mains were served to make sure everything was being enjoyed. We ordered a few sampler platters for appetizers, as well as oxtail, antelope and ostrich for the mains as we wanted to get a taste of everything. There was nothing that didn't taste amazing! This was the first time we tried camel, kangaroo, antelope and ostrich. We were surprised at how flavorful each of them and the other items were. The adventure was topped off with a slice of the most amazing key lime pie, courtesy of the chef. We will definitely be returning!

But wait, there's more....... The exterior could definitely use some work. Host stand plopped outside. Inside felt a little crowded. Wine cellar-ish. Mother's Day, a bit chaotic for all restaurants. Took 10-15 minutes to be greeted after being sat. No big deal, I get it. Santiago was great. We did the mystery mimosa experience which was fun! We go to order our food and BOOM!! This is where they get you. It was all a lie. A very deceiving menu written in a way where you think you're going to get oxtails and jollof rice plus appetizer and dessert for $55 per person. Because that's a great price, not really a deal, just a great price. WRONG. Santiago had to clarify that it was $55 EXTRA ON TOP OF $42 PER PERSON. SO $97 PER PERSON FOR OXTAILS AND JOLLOF RICE, AN APP & DESSERT. RIDICULOUS! TOTALLY DISHONEST AND DECEIVING. Write it as $55 additional per person, so everyone knows what they're getting into before they reserve their table. Because Santiago admitted everyone he served that day was shocked at the additional cost. Not wanting to ruin my wife's FIRST Mother's Day, I brushed it off and still continued with the order. Appetizer: tequeño & empanada. Bland, came out cold and after our entrees came out. Entrees: Oxtail & Jollof rice. I loved it. Flavor was great. Just wish there was a lot more. For $97, you expect to have 6-8 large oxtails and a side of rice. What i got was 4 very tiny oxtails and a full plate of rice!! Peri peri chicken & jollof rice- flavor was nice and smoky. But again, for $97, you expect more than 2 avg size leg quarters and a full plate of rice. Dessert: They were out of key lime pie by noon. I saw the cheesecake, it was a thin plain slice, so we opted for their seis leches cake. It was not good. It was not soaked enough, very dry. The reason the score wasn't lower was because service was great, the entrees tasted great and they gave each mother a single rose and Mother's Day card which had a pin in it that said best mom ever. Which made my wife's day even that much better. Thank you Chef Casey. But I don't think I would visit again solely based on the deceiving menu and small portions that are not worth the additional cost.

It was an incredible joy to taste the best fried plantain in all of Texas, and it came with some yummy spicy dip and green herbs dip with! So different so exotic! The atmosphere seems like it is supposed to be romantic, the reason for the red, although I'm not fond of the color AT ALL, the atmosphere was nice. Oh my goodness the smoked crab fingers were quite a surprise! I always knew crab could taste like this but could never find it. Yummy portions of deliciously flavoured crab.
