I've been wanting empanadas for some time now and saw the reviews on this place as i was driving around the area. This is a very small hidden little restaurant at the corner of a strip center, so make sure you keep your eyes out! I had a craving for wings, so I had to go ahead and order their 6 piece wings with one chicken empanada and 1 beef empanada. Took no more than 15 minutes, and everything was cooked fresh. The only negative thing for me is that since I grew up mexican, I am very used to spices and spicy food. When taking my 1st bite, it was hot and crispy. Crisp to perfection! However, there wasn't a lot of flavor in their sauce in meat. (Again, I'm used to spicy) Their habanero wings were okay too and were actually surprisingly spicy, just not much flavor. I would definitely go back and try some other dishes.. They make everything fresh and recommend ordering their platter to try a little of everything. read more

Their $2 empanada sign caught my eye as we were driving down 1960 and I had to make a stop. The empanadas are huge and come in chicken, cheese, pork, and beef. They were all good but my favorites are the cheese and pork. The cilantro green sauce pairs well with them. The wings are decent (6 for $5) but watch out for the hot bc that habanero has some serious heat! Sweet plantains were solid as well and we really liked the meaty fried pork that came w the delicious garlic oil! The owner was very nice both times I've been and the restaurant was clean if you opt for dining in. Overall this place is serving affordable, unique food and we'll definitely be back again to support this local restaurant! read more

5 star alert!!!!! Wow this is a really good spot! Everything was amazing! Food: empanadas were simply amazing. I got the cheese, chicken and beef. My favorites were the cheese and beef. The beef are good as well too. The habanero hot wings were very tasty too. The ranch is really good too. The cheese empanadas have so much flavor. I say try every one of them just so you can get the taste from all of them. Also, the fried pork was simply amazing! Full of flavor and very tasty. All of the sauces that came along with the meal are so good as well. The are extremely nice and doing such a great job at his hidden gem on 1960. The manager is super nice and very personable. A wonderful experience for authentic empanadas! I got 5 chicken and 5 beef. The beef has a sweeter flavor to it, they are wonderfully crisp and delicious. The chicken ones were amazing as well, packed with flavor. Their cilantro cream sauce is chefs kissed inspired! I wish they were open on Sundays as I was wishing to go before Super Bowl, but they deserve a break for all their hard work for these delicious little master pieces! Can't recommend them enough. I really like the Empanadas I've had at Austin's food trucks , so after driving by this tiny location, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Mix platter. $25 with tax. It's a lot of food but all of it, except for the 4 empanadas, was inedible and thrown away. Even the empanadas were dry, over cooked and without flavor, but we ate them anyway. We waited 42 minutes for our order in the small front area which had a leak that was causing the ceiling to collapse. For this excessive wait, we were given a coupon for one free empanada ($2.75 value). I seriously doubt we'll return. read more

If you like empanadas, this is the place to go. We love them and their sauces are so good that accompany the empanadas. I like the MDA sauce. My daughter loves the cilantro cream sauce. My favorite are the chicken empanadas. My daughter's are the chicken and cheese empanadas. She also loves the pineapple ones for dessert. The red beans and rice are really good. We would highly recommend it, but would suggest you order ahead as it can take a little while for the order to be ready. read more

I really enjoyed the food and service here! I came here a month ago with my husband to try out the food and was surprised when we tasted it ! The empanadas are so fresh and full of flavor! We tried each flavor and each one was just as good! We were literally fighting over the last bite! We also enjoyed the green sauce it came with, it helped balance out all the flavors! We tried the verity box and added two chees and two chicken empanadas. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The sauce I just wanted to drink it with a straw. The sauce had lots of garlic which I love . Must try this place if you love empanadas read more

just had these to go -YUM! My son wanted beef empanadas for his birthday - saw it on yelp - got it to go and they were SO delicious! Here's our pic halfway through - I couldn't stop! They come with a delicious green sauce like Churraacos uses on their salads. These were a steal - $24 for a dozen - can't even find bad frozen ones for that price. I'm heading back to get some to freeze for lunches. Perfect with fruit or a salad. Delicioso! read more

Seriously, this is my first yelp review because I usually don't take time to do stuff like that. But OMG THIS IS THE BEST FOOD EVER The price is amazing and the servings are HUGE The chimichurri sauce is great, the fried yucca is SPOT ON. As a Brazilian I grew up eating fried yucca and it's something really hard to perfect. Everything I had was cooked to perfection (and people, it wasn't even eaten there, I ordered through uber eats). Followed a Google recommendation for this place, nearby & sounded good.... The place is small and sparse, menu is pretty straightforward, worker behind the counter was nice & helpful, I expected the food out a little faster since it's 'to-go' but it wasn't too long, good prices & portions, didn't skimp on filling, wasn't prepared for the sweetness of the meats but it balanced well with the spicy sauce (to me cuz I'm a wimp), beef & chicken were way better than the pork... Definitely worth the five star rating they have so far. You have a choice between beef, pork, chicken, cheese, veggie, and pineapple empanada. Service was quick and I felt that they were priced well for a good sized empanada. On weekends they have a 12 for $20 deal that allows you to choose up to five options. We tried 4 (beef, chicken, pork, and pineapple). Its hard to say which I liked most but it was nice to close out the meal with the pineapple empanada as dessert. I will definitely be back. I WISH I TOOK PHOTOS BUT I TOTALLY FORGOT BECAUSE IT WAS SOO GOOD! me and my boyfriends family got food from here a few days ago and this is honestly my first time trying empanadas so i didnt really know what to except but the empanadas were delicious! i had 2 chicken empanadas which in my opinion is the best kind. i also had the pineapple and cheese and the pineapple one literally tasted like a pineapple pie it was really good. we also got 2 different wings i gor bbq and he got pineapple habenero i think. the wings were so delicious definitely 10/10. i definitely recommend this place to any and everyone ! read more

Almost passed this place but the $2 empanada sign caught my eye. When I pulled over (yes, they have a parking lot) I went inside and it was very clean. There were plenty of tables to sit and it had a "cool" vibe to the whole place. The empanadas are made fresh and aren't just sitting in a warm case. I ordered the chicken and a beef. It took less than 10 minutes to make. The staff was very friendly. They were some of the best, if not best empanadas I've ever had. The filling was delicious on both and you can see the individual ingredients, it wasn't just a meat paste. Both were tasty, but the beef is my favorite. It comes with a huge cup of cilantro green sauce which just elevates the already delicious taste of the empanadas. They're available on most food delivery services, so will be ordering again.. read more

Blew my mind how awesome these were! Highly recommend the cheese and beef empanadas and don't forget the sweet plantains! $2/ per empanada and I can't wait to see if they expand their menu with some specials! Finally, I tried this place out and it is AWESOME! I love empanadas and this place keeps it simple any delicious. Made to order, super hot and fresh. I can't pick which empanada was my favorite. This place was absolutely fantastic! The food was flavorful, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was calm. The food was definitely fresh and made to order. The venue is clean, young man at the register was friendly. I ordered beef, pork and chicken empanadas to go my husband, but ordered the fried yucca and fried pork for me to eat there. OMG, 1st the prices are cheap and the portions are great. The fried yucca was cut thin so they were nice and crunchy on the outside. The pork pieces ARE HUGE....I got 5 pieces, which I could only finish 2. All the sauces are really tasty, but LOVE THE HABANERO sauce they make. Ordered from them last night. Cheese empanadas and some other stuff. I own a restaurant myself in California. It's so sad when a business try to "save" money, but ending up loosing customers over how they do it. CHANGE YOUR FRY OIL!!!! When I opened up the food, the stench were overwhelming! Hadn't eaten all day, so I still tried. Took one bite out of the empanada, but it was just too much. I just threw everything in the trash. What a waste.... read more

What a delicious discovery! We were ordering from a next door favorite restaurant and thought we'd grab a sample from Lunitas. We ordered the mixed platter for $20 to get a sample. It's HUGE! 6 empanadas (2 beef, 2 pork, 2 chicken), French fries, yucca fries, 4 large tostones, 4 wings, sweet plantains, and a generous portion of the pork. Crazy good deal. Everything was delicious, not greasy, and the creamy green sauce that came with it is so good it's drinkable! We will definitely be back. read more

We came here today and everything was amazing! The beef is my favorite. The veggie was so good made with seasonal veggies. A lighter crust on that one. It was really exceptional. Unfortunately, Diego did not have my order ready when they opened. I clearly told him when he was bringing in product for the day that I need a dozen pineapple cream cheese empanadas when they opened. He said OK and continue bringing in product. At 11 AM when they opened, I went in and to my surprise Diego had not placed my order and it definitely wasn't ready. I was a bit annoyed and a tad bit confused. I said to him why didn't you place the order like I asked you to when you were bringing in supplies it went on to say that look if you need payment prior to getting the order that would not have been a problem, but you let me believe you were going to start making empanadas so they'd be ready when you opened. Diego counted with "no that's not what I said, I told you that you could place your order when we opened". To say I was more than annoyed would be a colossal understatement! I was so impressed with this product that I ordered a dozen to share three each with people that I consider special. Unfortunately, for Diego and the business owner, his unprofessionalism and outright deception cost him a potentially long-term customer. Like all of you I earned my money and I want to spend it supporting businesses that appreciate those people who support them. I was so disrespected that I choose not to get over it, but rather spend my money at a restaurant that has good product and values. It's customers more than this establishment! Does this restaurant make it quality product absolutely! Does this restaurant value customer is coming early in placing orders with them directly and honoring what they say? The pastries were incredibly flaky--so flaky that half of one seemed determined to end up in my lap. Fortunately, the chicken filling was so good that I forgot about the mess until I finished eating. The Picadillo empanada was also quite tasty and easily the highlight of my visit. One thing that stood out was the pricing. Compared to other places I've visited for empanadas, the menu was surprisingly affordable. That's becoming increasingly rare these days. My only real complaint is the limited drink selection. A good empanada deserves a good beverage (Dr. Pepper) to go with it. Overall, this was a pleasant stop. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and I'd definitely come back--especially for two or three more of those Picadillo empanadas. Worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a quick, satisfying snack.
