History first; used to come here a lot when I lived and worked in the area. Now we live in Oxford, close to a hour away and coming here over the last 13 years has only been occasionally like 3-4 times in that time frame. Yesterday, we went to visit with my mom and a few family members. My brother who lives within a mile of here has never been (only lived here for 10+ years)but was willing to give it a try. He was put in charge of picking up our to-go order for the adults and me getting some pizza for the kids and grand kids. Well, we all arrived with the ordered food and have to tell you the food was delicious, plenty of it and everything was there that was ordered. We had everything from General Tso's chicken to Chicken and Broccoli, a shrimp dish my sister in law ordered. Definitely worth the drive, one will not be disappointed. The first thing I have to say is that the gentleman who rang up my food is the nicest guy ever. I picked up my carry out and he was friendly and welcoming and gladly handed me my food. The food itself was as expected for Chinese carry out, but that being said, the veggies were very fresh and the food was nicely seasoned. I'd definitely go back. Used to be good years ago. Came here to eat 2-4 times a month- it used to be an actual real sit-down restaurant once- oh my. Then I went back after the pandemic and the food was bad. Tried it again recently to give them another chance, it is literally the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. After the pandemic, this place has really gone down hard. Not. A. Fan. Stopped in because i hadn't had Chinese in months. Thought it was another place i'd been a few years back but waaay wrong. I ordered orange beef with steamed rice and won ton soup.. The beef was coated and deep fried. The orange sauce was poured on the beef. It seemed like the cook (term chef is a little charitable) poured with one hand and texting with the other and forgot to stop. I was expecting stir fried beef with those slices of fried orange peel. The beef was tender at least but the coating tasted stale. The won ton was also stale tasting and texture was too soft. The broth was a bit salty as well. But wait. There was also egg roll!! A puddle of oil was on the little plate. Bad start. And watta ya-no, it tasted stale as well. Oh, the crunchy things. The metal bowl just looked like it was topped off with crunchy things instead of using a clean bowl. Grease was all over the surface. And guess what. Stale tasting. 3 for 3. I don't get it. It was just awful. The rice was ok. Can't screw that up. The place i wanted to go to was just down Harper north of 13 mile, Gim Ling. read more

We ordered carryout for two Almond chicken dinners. Order came to $18.02 Both dinners came with a dinner roll, fried rice and an egg roll. The lady at the front was nice. The almond chicken would have been great but it was so tough! So had to dig around for a good piece. The rice was good though. The dinner roll was hardish. Almost like it was old. As for the egg roll, we didn't eat. So can't comment on that. We won't be eating here again. It's really hard to find a good Chinese food place. read more

It was lukewarm and the wontons tasted like they were frozen. I didn't even finish it. The broth was salty, and the soup noodles were not fresh. I have been eating China Moon for over a dozen yrs and even though I moved out of the neighborhood I still travel there for my Chinese food. Was disappointed today I normally add beef fried rice to my combo dishes but forgot today so I ended up with the house fried rice which was only rice nothing else was in it. They always had the best egg rolls but they changed the recipe evidently because instead of bean sprouts they are now using 75% cabbage now. I know they have been closed for the last month due to Covid but if start cutting corners they will lose business. read more

The restaurant has seen better days. At this point it can pass for any other Chinese restaurant in any town. The menu is broad enough, but too many dishes are slathered in a heavy sauce loaded with MSG. My favorite soup, Hot and Sour, was described on the menu as being sauce. No one should consume a soup described as sauce, or so thick that at room temperature it starts to gel. My hunan chicken was salty and the vegetables so overcooked they looked like they properly belonged in some other food group. Yes, they give you a basket of giant fluffy rolls, fresh from a wrapper. Yes, they ladle on copious amounts of food. And yes, they are reasonably priced. And the staff was pleasantl, except for the older woman who passed close to the table sending us stink eye when she wanted us to finish and leave. Maybe she was the entertainment. read more

I love their Singapore Noodles. I would make the trip (20+ minutes) just to get them occasionally. I almost always get carry out, but I have dined in as well. I found it to be as clean as one could ask for, the staff as friendly as one could expect, and the prices are good. Don't know what else to say, they are good and worth trying for sure. read more

China Moon was my family's favorite from the time my kids were in elementary school (they are now in their mid 30's). However, since the restaurant changed to take-out only, they have gone WAY downhill. The food is definitely different, and not in a good way. Mostly tasteless. Veggies in spring roll were undercooked and crunchy, egg roll had no flavor, ditto for the chicken noodle soup and my son's favorite, Chicken and broccoli. Hong Shu Harr (my favorite) had a terrible taste, and the fried shrimp was so overcooked it was inedible. Unfortunately, prior recent orders were just as bad, but we wanted to give it a chance. Solid place for Chinese. I stopped in for carryout after a coworker had suggested the place to me. The phone was ringing off the hook and tons of people waiting to pick up too, so I was happpppy to see that! Not being a huge Chinese fan, I probably eat it once, maybe twice a year and get your typical "Sweet and Sour" or "Almond boneless". I ordered a double combo of Almond Boneless and when you order the double combo (it's perfect for two people) you can pick an additional entree. I got the sweet/sour chicken and it came with an egg roll, ham fried rice, dinner roll and I got an order of Wonton soup. Great food! The breading and chicken was great, sauces were tasty and (my pet peev) not watered down. The ham in the fried rice was a nice touch and he enjoyed the soup commenting the Wonton's were more doughy over meaty (IDK if he liked it more or not but he ate it fast so that's about right lol). It was cooked quite fast and the service was friendly, the only thing I was a bit disappointed with was no fortune cookie in the bag :( I will order from here again easily! read more

How has nobody reviewed this place yet?!?! While on my search for good Chinese, I came across China Moon... And I'm Glad I did! When you walk in, you see all kinds of awards from Metro Times, Channel 4, etc... The food is great! Of course, I went with my standard almond chicken. Thick breading, but it's cooked thoroughly. Wanton soup is KILLER, and really, everything is good. There's a surly waitress who is a joy to be served by..lol And most people remember us each time, so we never really have to order... I just love China Moon! The food is always fresh and the portions are great. The staff is beyond friendly and they greet you like they have known you for 20 years. This is by far one of my most fav carry out Chinese places. My fav here is the szchewan noodles with chicken and a bowl of hot and sour soup! DEEELISH!! OH and the chicken egg foo young is perfect here, Really like and fluffy not over done and the gravy on it is soooooooooooo good!! I usually go to Gim Lings which is about 3 miles down the road however I was feeling lazy the other night and came here instead. Horrible idea, the food was horrible and can not compare to Gim Lings. The Kung Pow Pork had a thick dark sauce that pretty much tasted like gravy and the chicken fired rice tasted like pure salt. This was the first time in my life that I did not have Chinese left overs in the morning do to the fact I threw 80% of the food away. A rating of 4 for Chinese food in Michigan is pretty darn good. This place is not being hyped, I can vouch for that. I was actually thinking of going somewhere else but I remembered this place from Yelp! reviewers when my girlfriend and I passed it by. The place is ok inside, I like the high backed booths. They have circular porthole like windows, Buddah, and soothing Chinese music (at least for us, I feel sorry for the people who work here who have to listen to it all day) Almond Chicken, Fried Shrimp, Sweet & Sour Pork, Egg Foo Young, Won Ton soup and Fried Rice all the Americanized Chinese standards, all good. It seems a tad pricy on the menu but the portions are large and the taste and quality are very very good. From the sweet roll to the soy sauce not one item was boring or average. Absolutely awful. Before it was remodeled the food was good. Ordered today and will never order again. Egg drop soup had a weird taste and lacked flavor. Sweet and sour chicken dry and the sauce was not as good as most places. Pepper steak extremely Salty and barely had any meat. 90% peppers. Fried rice was NOT fried.
