Lims is a cute very traditional American looking Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is very clean and you can tell the owners and staff take a lot of pride in this place. I've been dining with them for sometime now and most recently had friends with me that enjoyed the takeout we ordered. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, almond chicken, shrimp fried rice and vegetable fried rice along with shrimp and chicken egg rolls. The food was well packaged, very fresh and generous portions. One of our friends said the shrimp fried rice was the best she ever had. The dishes are pretty good. The seafood, chicken, and beef were actually tender, and yes even the beef with broccoli. The soups are good and yummy. The one drawback is the fried rice was or tasted like it was made with sushi rice. It was actually sticky. Although we still carried out the leftovers, the fried sticky rice will likely not reach the stomachs. We did enjoy the dining in, overall. The waitress was nice and prompt. This was a disappointment. The sauces for both my and my wife's entrees were goopy. Her bean sprout egg roll was soggy because it sat in the sauce. I ordered brown rice and was told that they didn't have any when I picked up the order. On the plus side, my wife's meal had OK vegetables and the tofu in my meal was fried reasonably well but can't recommend this place. read more

Let me say that I've been going to Lims for years. It's always been very good. However today we found a long piece of metal in the Singapore noodles dish. See the Pic. Very scary and disturbing. There obviously is no quality control there as I can't even begin to understand serving this. I just can't eat there again knowing this can happen. We will be contacting them for their feedback. This is our go-to Chinese restaurant and are so impressed they are doing sushi now too! If you're gluten free I highly recommend checking them out. The owner is well versed and can make most things gluten free. It was so nice to have gluten free orange chicken for the first time in years. I recommend dining in. The decor is your normal Chinese restaurant. They serve complimentary hot tea (which is a must). Soup and either egg roll or spring roll are served with the meal also. If you're not a big rice person, they can substitute hot rolls. I usually get their Chinese veggie soup and a spring roll. All of their food is fresh and tasty and they cook to order so if you want more garlic or ginger, or different veggies just ask and they'll make everything exactly how you want it. The prices are reasonable and the service is always great. The owner Gia is extremely sweet and knows how to run a restaurant. I highly recommend checking them out! read more

We'll, I think we've found a new Chinese place! I used to go to Lim's decades ago with my family, but haven't been there in a long time. We were looking for something new for the family and I remembered this establishment. We called ahead to make sure they were open for eat in, which they are. The lady explained while we were eating that a lot of the time she does everything at the front of the house, but we were the only ones there and she was covering our table and the very brisk and busy carry out business. The soup was much more flavorful than at most places, and the main dishes were really great. Crispy and tender chicken, delicious sauces, and nice portion size. The prices are reasonable, too. It's not fancy inside, but that doesn't matter when the food is this good. Service is also good. The parking lot is a bit challenging, but that has nothing to do with them. We have been seeking a good Chinese Restaurant and after reading multiple reviews we chose to try Lims. The restaurant is vintage in design,however, you can tell it has been well take care of and kept clean. Yes, there are areas that could use better repair but this place is amazing clean. We ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken gluten free(no breading). It was good. General Taos Chicken was delish. Where to start :) The out side wrapper of the egg roll was crispy and the filling tasty. Best one I have had in a while! The plum sauce must be made made in house because it is just delicious! The chicken had the best crunchy outside with the chicken being very very moist. The sauce was yummy as was the fried rice. They serve soda in the can so they have both Diet Coke and Pepsi!:) :) Portions are amazing too. We will be coming back! read more

This was my 2nd visit. First visit was a big bowl of soup w veggies and crunchy rice, then a spring roll, then chicken gai kow. I was very clear I am allergic to gluten, fish, and mushrooms. The food was great, good portions, and I didn't get ill. Today was different. The soup was a cup of egg drop soup w crunchy rice. I think I was served an egg roll, but I was assured it was gluten free. The chicken, after a few bites had mushrooms in it. It was remade, but I carried that out. I wanted to get home. The worst Garlic ribs I have ever eaten. How is this place still open? I was excited after finally locating a restaurant that offer garlic ribs. I guess I will continue to drive to Warren for decent Garlic Ribs. The Won Ton soup dumplings were very gummy and chewy. My spouse enjoyed the egg rolls. If you had Garlic Ribs from the former Silver Dragon in Harper Woods, you will be greatly disappointed in Lim's version. Waste of money! Update to last review. One take out experience that was very disappointing. Dinner for three. Dry Almond Boneless Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Also, couldn't request soups for three. Had to get only one and we all like different soups. Two dine ins. First one was spectacular. Tonight was bad. Ordered combos and got entrees. One person ordered walnut shrimp and got walnut chicken. That was corrected. Only brought two bowls of rice for five people. Had to wait forever for more rice with the excuse that they were busy. With carryout yes..dine in no. Our party was the only one in the restaurant. Asked for rice to take home. Wanted to charge for it. So disappointing . read more

(I'm Chinese.) God. Please close down. There is no way you're actually allowed to serve this kind of food in a restaurant. We sat down, ordered, waited an hour to get our food, then when it came, that person serving our food, poor lady, she had to be at least 70, she gave us our food after 30 minutes and it looked like she took a frozen box of premade Chinese food, warmed it up in the microwave, left the middle cold, and served it. All three dishes we got were cold. We bought the kung pao, sesame chicken, and orange chicken. That orange chicken was red and CANDIED. All the food that was served to us was so sweet. After eating a few bites, we paid (unfortunately), and left with a stomachache and feelings of nausea. A man that looked like Steven Segal, apparently, a regular (god knows why), came in and got three dishes for himself while we were in the process of ordering, and while he was scarfing all of that down, we thought the food was probably good, so we ordered. The rest of the restaurant was empty other than the few pick up orders, so we thought we were safe and the food was good. NEVER AGAIN. This food should not be allowed to be eaten, even a premade frozen food box of Chinese food should NEVER taste like that. read more

The food, portions and service were fine. However, pay attention to how your check it calculated. Our server didn't list the tax out separately. It was added to each individual item. A quart of egg drop soup was $5.83. It's listed on the menu as $5.50. I thought it seemed odd and I should have paid closer attention because I tipped 20% on 6% sales tax as well as on the food. That is not appropriate so I'm posting this for customers to be aware. Even though the food was good I doubt I'll return as that's a pretty shady thing to do. read more

If I could do a 0 would. The food was cold, my dinner Singapore noodles I order medium-up. The flavor of RAW curry spice was gross. My husband ordered House lo mein he read all the veggies he doesn't care for mushrooms... so, of course, I ask for no mushrooms all good there. So as I'm opening the dinners, a Hugh whiff of green pepper smell fills our kitchen. This was not in the description. Needless to say, we both are NOT fans of green peppers. Next time, I won't be lazy and will drive to our favorite place, LC Asian near my house in MadisonHts. We are visiting my mother and thought we would try Lims. I order from here kind of often, and it is very reliable and tasty Chinese food especially because the prices are pretty reasonable. I personally love their chicken fried rice, pepper steak, curry chicken, and even more. I also like the pork fried rice, it's really yummy but I think because it's pork it makes the rice very, very greasy which is the only thing I sometimes regret getting but it's fine. We ordered general tso's chicken and almond boneless chicken, both with chicken fried rice. Lets start with the positive, the egg rolls were delicious. The chicken fried rice well boring is a understatement. It was white rice with maybe 3 tiny pieces of chicken a little brown color don't know what made the color because there was no extra flavor. I added soy sauce to make it edible. The general tso was not edible I took one bite. Very greasy. Immediately became nauseous. The almond boneless chicken was my husbands meal the rice was the same. the chicken looked really fresh also very greasy tho. The gravy was a thick brown gravy. It tasted okay not great. no garnish like green onions. Over all his meal was just okay. He is a big eater and he ate only half. We have ordered from this place many times and been pleased, but the last few times not at all. We kept trying, but no more this will be the last...Other dishes my be better, but these are the ones we prefer. read more

My occasional go to when looking for lunch during work hours. They were very prompt when answering the phone and was not in a hurry as i asked questions about their menu. While waiting for my food in the car, i decided to go in and change my order again.. the waitress was veryyy kind and in no way upset that i wanted to change my order. She made me feel confident that my new order was going to taste great as i have never tried it before. I say in the corner of the restaurant and waited about 7 mins for my food to arrive. This is always our go to takeout Chinese place! Only one we have found in the area we like! We decided to do a to-go order because A. We missed Chinese food and B. There is only to-go right now! The lady I placed my order with was beyond nice! I even had to call back and she was so friendly! Pick up was ready when we asked! We got #7 Sweet and Sour chciekn lunch, #21 General Tso Chicken Medium lunch, Chicken Lo Mein, and Crab Ragoons! Everything was so yummy! Honestly best Crab Ragoons I've had! Only downside would be I like my sweet and sour on the side so the chicken stays super crispy but I will know for next time! read more
