Empire Ginger has really gone downhill. Last few times we had gotten food there we felt the quality had decreased and we started ordering elsewhere. It got late Sunday night and they were still open so we decided to give them a try again. Big mistake. An egg roll and cheese wontons were missing from the order. We called but they already closed. I did not get to my dinner as the soup and appetizers were filing. Monday, when I went to have my leftover, untouched dinner I found it was loaded with mushrooms which we specifically asked not be in my food as I am highly allergic to them. We called, they argued. They insisted on a picture of the food with the mushrooms as the lady who we spoke to said "I cooked it myself and there were no mushrooms". We sent a picture (included in thread)They replaced the missing and incorrect food. They also wanted the incorrect mushroom laden food back - fine. Today I decided to have the replacement food as I was too aggravated to eat it yesterday. Now not only were there no mushrooms but the house special Mei fun had a few strips of chicken, a few strips of pork and two dried out shrimp. NEVER again, never. So disappointed. They deserve no start but got one so I could leave the review. read more

I was looking at the website to see the menu a saw the "order online " option so I did. As it turns out the order went through GrubHub making the order extremely expensive however I went this route because it was just easier two hours later I still had not received my food. I called Empire Ginger and they told me they were not responsible and had nothing to do with the order other than filling it. They told me to contact the driver and gave me a number which I did and never got through to the driver. I finally called Grubhub and they canceled my order and refunded my card. As far as I know Empire, Ginger delivers free of charge. I will not use Empire Ginger because I cannot support a business that doesn't have integrity for its customers. read more

The chicken loMein had very little pieces of chicken. If there was 1/2 piece of chicken in a full quart you were jipped.

This place is an absolute disgrace to Chinese food restaurants...Most Chinese food places have a standard 15-20 min wait time and I was told 20 min when I called. By the time my food was brought out to the window, it had been 1 hour and 6 minutes with 0 explanation or apology for the wait.. especially since I waited outside for 40 minutes in 29 degree cold without a coat...as I observed the kitchen from the window, I noticed they had 5 chefs working and they only pumped out 1 order in the 40 min I was standing outside...how is that possible? When I got home and opened the food, I was greeted by a rubber band in my Lo Mein (photo attached)...it made me feel great to know that there was a dirty object lingering in my food, especially during a pandemic. The rest of my food was bland and the boneless ribs were dry. There are honestly so many great Chinese restaurants in a 2 mile radius of this place that have better food and service. I hate to leave a bad review on a restaurant in the times we're currently living in, but this was a bad experience and had to be shared. read more

The place is an eyesore (see photos) and you can't use coronavirus as an excuse---it was this way before. The woman at the front is gruff and lacking in many social graces. The place was ice cold. Ordered sweet and sour chicken dish on Doordash. Confirmed and told to go pickup. I get there and the lady behind the counter yelling "too cheap" not going to sell to you, "too cheap!". I paid $16 through DoorDash and this lady not going to give me my food? She kept saying too cheap cannot sell you that food that cheap. Meal costs more. Today is the second time that I did not get what we ordered. The first one we excused as human error. This time I called & the person on the phone was trying to say that I did not place the order correctly. What happen to the theory that the customer is right. Customer service is clearly not their specialty. The owner was rude and nasty as is his son. I tried to get the receipt for large order which was supposed to be included when order was delivered. It which was not. Owner insisted I come to pick it up. Upon arrival, I was asked to return AGAIN. There are many places for mediocre chinese food. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the long wait! To be honest though, it's worth the wait! I recently discovered the roast pork and shrimp dumpling noodle soup (with thin Cantonese egg noodles) and it is incredibly delicous, hearty and satisfying on a cold winter night! I've been getting it at least once a week. I also love the bbq spare ribs from here. Any dumpling, spring roll and the pad Thai is also good (not the same as getting from an authentic pad Thai place but, still good). My boyfriend gets the plain typical dishes like chicken and broccoli or string beans and seems to like it as well. The delivery and pick up does take longer than average but that's because it's very popular, they have a ton of regulars and are always busy. Try the dumpling soup, you will love it! Update: just got my delivery very fast which is awesome and bonus, for whatever reason I had a free dish in the bag that I didn't order..it was delicous thin noodles with steak, shrimp, eggs and veggies! On the down side, my boyfriend was NOT happy with his chicken. He's very picky though and refused to try anything else so that's on him! Get Empire Ginger it's awesome! read more

Do not patronize this place!! We waited two hours for our delivery. It never came. We called them, they said the food was delivered and that we signed for it. We told them we never got it. They argued with us and said we should ask around to our neighbors to see if they got our food! Seriously!! During a pandemic!! This is my favorite "Americanized" Chinese food take-out from Coram to Commack. Their menu is the typical take-out choices, but with some additions - as well as a "spend $20 and get a free order of cheese filled fried wontons"! They do everything I like best about other take-out places: dark broth in the wonton soup, saffron fried rice (that's yellow, not brown), small pieces of chicken in their General Tso's, and FRESH homemade noodles! read more

First of all, this place is crooks. We ordered for a coworkers bday. I ordered online snd i added in a tip. When the guy came to deliver, he was 35 minutes late, coworkers were 20 minutes clocked out for a 30 minutes lunch, i signed the charge slip without looking at it . They added another 5 dollars to the charge for another tip.there is nothing special about the food. I do not recommend. read more

Not what I ordered tonight at 9:39 pm! Order was fast but food was awful! The ginger and scallion dinner was missing the scallion & ginger all together! There were plenty of onions, brocolli,pea pods, nothing I asked for! The flavor was bland so I sprinkled on some powered ginger, but that didn't help at all! On a regular day they take on average an hour to deliver... Done with this place, Will never order from again... The whole point of take out, is quick service... The food here is horrible and not fit for human consumption. It used to be great, about 5 years ago. Now it isn't fit for rats to eat. They have me diarrhea and I only ordered fried rice and an egg roll. Ate half an egg roll and about 10 spoon fulls of rice and I've been sick all day. I can't even leave the house because I'm so sick. I wouldn't even give my dog their food. I'll never order from here again. Any opinions on a DECENT Chinese food place in Smithtown because this place SUX. And another thing look at their Suffolk county food service inspection report, they're disgusting. This place is the bomb!!! $25 delivery order: large wonton soup, quart of vegetable Lo mein, 2 quarts of white rice, egg roll and quart of sweet and sour chicken. Everything was amazing. The wonton soup was some of the best I ever had - the wontons were cooked perfectly (not overdone like most places) and the broth was sooooo good. I've been ordering from here for years. Average Chinese food takeout. Everything was ok, except for the steamed pork buns that we took a chance on. There were baseball sized dough balls that still had raw flour on them...the paper wrappers they were sitting in wouldn't peel off! I noticed a new Chinese menu in the mail and decided to give empire ginger a try. I waited with anticipation for the meal to arrive hoping for the best. To my regret the only thing edible was the won ton soup not the won tons just the broth that surrounded the petrified starch wraps. The shrimp toast reminded me of a movie I had seen as a young man Grease. Yes grease is the word if you would like a meal here. There were highs and lows the prices are high and the quality is low mein.
