He was friendly, courteous and provided quick turnaround of the report. I was particularly impressed with the use of the drone camera, Ray flew it around and performed a detailed inspection of the roof. He discovered a problem with the chimney cap that had been professionally installed a few weeks beforehand. He provided pictures that I forwarded to the chimney co and they came out the next day to resolve. Had this not been fixed it's likely the cap would eventually get blown off the chimney and cause damage, so I'm pretty happy to have averted a potential disaster.

Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. Responsiveness (5/5): Steven and the team were quick to get us on the schedule (they had next day availability -- which is what we were looking for). Our realtor was shocked he was around last minute and encouraged us to jump at the opportunity to book him. They sent the contract and outline of the services to be rendered right away and we signed and returned it soon after. Payment (5/5): They accepted several forms of payment so it was very easy to address this. We ended up using Zelle which took mere seconds. Service (5/5): The inspection itself lasted a couple of hours. He went through all aspects of the property and pointed everything out. We've heard some inspectors can be a bit detail-lite in an effort to not hinder the sale transaction. This report was instead incredibly thorough. Steven was very transparent about the things he found, highlighting the areas of biggest concern while also explaining the significance of his broader findings especially compared to his standard inspection discoveries. Value (5/5): Given the time spent at the property and the high attention to detail in the final report this was worth every penny. We now have a solid to-do list with priority as to what we will get fixed and addressed -- and when. Apparently, did not check toilet, because one flush handle was broken, and today it just cost me $850 to replace one toilet. Also, garbage disposal in sink was not working and slop sink was clogged. Too many things were missed. Art took off money for not showing up on time. When I told him of the issues he came out and was able to unclog the slop sink. Promised to come back the next week for the toilet and garbage disposal, but never responded or showed up.

I ultimately chose Fairfield County Inspection services because of the extras. We learned so much from Dan, and not only were we impressed, but the seller's agent and our agent asked for extra business cards because he was one of the best inspectors they've ever worked with. The final report was ready the same evening and the contract with the seller was amended by the next morning. Dan left us with all of his contact information just in case we had any questions regarding any of it. I had to contact him a couple of days later to ask a non emergent question and he was very quick to respond with the answer.
