You can look it up under my name, Mary Savva. Although we decided against buying the home in 2023, we decided we would absolutely and unwaveringly use Abe as our inspector the next time. Fast forward 3 years later, we recently used Abe in June 2026. We had the pleasure of meeting his son Nick during our 2nd inspection. I really can't say enough about Abe. I find it difficult to top my 2023 review because it was so good. During our second experience with Abe, we had a different realtor. All I have to say is Abe is on your side. The jingle, "Nationwide is on your side" should be Abe's theme song except it would be, "Abe is on your side." I hate to sound cheesy, but when you are a first-time homebuyer, it's hard to relax and trust the process. Abe makes it easier to do that simply because he is loyal to you and only you. It's a huge relief to have someone with so much experience under their belt in your corner. It's also a relief to know you can have the same confidence in his son Nick. When you hire Abe, the relationship doesn't end with the home inspection. He fully prepares you to become a homeowner. He provides lists of referrals and lots of other useful information on his website such as what to look for during the final walk through. He assures you that you can reach out to him at any time- pre and post purchase. You feel like you are more than just a customer, you are now part of a family. Of course, the candy filled goody bag made especially for you helps a lot too during the inspection! Abe and Nick check every nook and cranny (crawlspaces, roofs, attics) They arrived on time and spent over 3 hours combing through the property. Abe uses his drone to check the roof. He even has a "back-up drone" just in case his high-tech drone fails for whatever reason. He is fully prepared for your inspection. He is able to explain complex issues clearly in layman's terms, or in our case, "first time home buyers" terms. He patiently answered our questions. His home inspection report is concise and easy to understand. This cannot be overstated. It includes a "Table of Contents" which makes everything easy to find. The report does not lack detail. It is well organized with very clear pictures. This helped us to negotiate repairs and buy in confidence. One of my best friends is currently house hunting. Her husband is a surgeon. She is worried that he might not be able to attend the home inspection. I immediately referred her to Abe and assured her that she would be in good hands. I explained she would have nothing to worry about if her husband could not attend. I highly recommend Abe & Nick Kurek to anyone buying a home in the area. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. He also put in some candy if you're feeling peckish, some hand sanitizer, flashlight and bandaids--all super useful stuff. Folder includes info packets, and even a final walk through checklist. Our realtor was shocked he was around last minute and encouraged us to jump at the opportunity to book him. They sent the contract and outline of the services to be rendered right away and we signed and returned it soon after. Payment (5/5): They accepted several forms of payment so it was very easy to address this. We ended up using Zelle which took mere seconds. Service (5/5): The inspection itself lasted a couple of hours. He went through all aspects of the property and pointed everything out. We've heard some inspectors can be a bit detail-lite in an effort to not hinder the sale transaction. This report was instead incredibly thorough. Steven was very transparent about the things he found, highlighting the areas of biggest concern while also explaining the significance of his broader findings especially compared to his standard inspection discoveries. Value (5/5): Given the time spent at the property and the high attention to detail in the final report this was worth every penny. We now have a solid to-do list with priority as to what we will get fixed and addressed -- and when. This required an adjustment to our contract's inspection period while attempting to maintain the same closing date. Talk about pressure! Apparently all of the service people in the area made the same plans we did as we only found Gary online after exhausting our list of referrals, but we couldn't be happier with the result. He is timely, detail-oriented and professional. While I trust (and will be reviewing positively) our buying agent, I did have a little extra piece of mind going into this inspection knowing that Gary wasn't affiliated with either party and had no vested interest in passing things that could be a problem. Gary arrived 5 minutes early and took his time to explain everything he was seeing in practical (and non-alarming) terms. He also explained how many things worked which was great for first time homebuyers such as my wife and I--we had our own personal living home owners manual for three hours. In addition to his observations, Gary answered all of our questions in detail and helped us to draw lines between cosmetic and structural issues as well as item 'serviceable' vs 'hazardous'. We came away that day knowing what our ask list was going to be, and his official report arrived the next day. The report was thorough and made copious use of photos with red arrows to detail issues, which left no room for questioning. He responded quickly to follow-up questions which helped us move the purchasing process along with our attorney. I really couldn't be happier with our experience.

Home Advantage Inspections missed a potential fire hazard in the home we purchased…read more We called HAI prior to purchasing our home in Mount Kisco, NY. The results of the inspection produced a few results that we were able to negotiate with the seller. However, HAI saw no issues with the house's boiler chimney. After the purchase of the house, our heating company advised us that the condition of our boiler chimney posed a potential fire hazard. The report HAI provided said there was no issues with the boiler chimney. After the purchase of the home, we had at least three chimney companies inspect the condition of the boiler chimney. Upon a mere visual inspection, all noticed that the boiler chimney could potentially cause a fire in the home. Upon further inspection, they noticed that the chimney would need to be completely replaced in order to make the home safe. They all strongly -- and separately -- suggested that the condition be remedied as soon as possible. The condition of the boiler chimney and the surrounding area was an open and obvious fire hazard that should have been identified in the inspection report provided by HAI. $3,000 later, we were able to remedy the condition without incident. However, had HAI notified us of the condition prior to the purchase of the home, this is something we could have potentially negotiated. We are lucky that we had the boiler company inspect the space, or else the condition of the home may have been much worse. There were other conditions in the home that were missed upon inspection -- but the fact that a safety hazard such as this was missed is extremely disconcerting.
