The good: beautiful course, good layout and friendly staff. Its usually our go to course. The bad: crab grass everywhere!! Fairways need a lot of TLC. Between the crab grass in the fairways and pivots everywhere its definitely not worth the $90 we paid. Bartender needs restrained. Ordered 2 transfusions that tasted terrible, didnt notice until we already continued golfing. Love this course so hopefully they work on it. read more

Driving range was easy to use and liked how it is the first thing you see driving into the space. Parking is on the curb and lots of spaces if you get there early. The ball prices are decent. Does need a little trash pick up as there was some cups and debris all over. Overall, enjoyed the facility and will come back to swing some balls. Not sure how the course is but there were a few groups coming up for their tee time. read more

The price has went up since last year but I like the course. It's very player friendly with a few neat holes especially 18. Driving range is very run down, need to upgrade and if they were smart they would put bays on both sides and add the track man camera set up like they have at Haggin. Would be a gold mine with lack of public course out this way. read more

First and foremost, teeing off at 6:10 am we expect to play a fast round. The 6:00 am group ahead of us who should have been the 'pace setter' clearly did not share that sentiment. Is no one explaining to groups teeing off that early that they are the pace setter and they are expected to play fast? We were waiting on every tee as was the group behind us. Second, the bunkers were a disgrace. It looked like someone had been watering the sand. Absolute joke. Unplayable. And last there was only one guy to do outside service who was busy with carts which meant that the range was not opened. This golf course it not good. right when I got there the guy at the front desk was a complete doochebag and was rude to us the entire time. The golf course was in terrible shape with dead grass everywhere. the sand traps were just dirt and there was a water puddle in half of them. I don't recommend coming to this golf course if you want to have a good time. read more

played the course on 11/29/24 course played very slow we were 5.5 hours on the 15th hole. also so many leafs on fairways made it difficult to locate your ball. no mashalls to help move play along. no refreshment cart. taking this course off my list. Roger read more

Worst place, experience with food specifically horrible uncomfortable service grass is pretty golf was nice a good system the way they keep everyone flowing but the dining area was not kept, sticky tables and there is a woman cook she was rude and loud I tried to tell them specifically what I did not want on my order they made it wrong I tried to have it corrected and she was very quick to assume I was the problem and would not fix my food with out outraged attitude very negative very angry will not be eating in their dining area again only play the green. This place is just ok. It's not worth the large price tag it has. 80 dollars to play on the weekends . The course conditions around and on the greens were terrible. 130 Yards in were terrible. For such a large fee to play here they need to take better care of all the divots around and on the greens. Tons of ball marks on the greens. read more

This golf course has some major management issues. Their driving range is always closed before sunset. By 4pm their ball-dispenser is closed so you can't hit balls unless you came before 4pm. You should learn from Hagen Oaks--they have tracing technology at their range and close at 12am + free balls for any club you demo at their shop. Another issue--Empire Ranch closes their range without notice. Golfing here: I played a round here with a buddy last month and the Marshalls are rude as f*ck and push you to play faster even though there is nobody in back of you. Does that even make any sense? Kitchen messed up my meal 3x and made me late to me time if that tells ya anything. Showed up at 8:20 for a tee time it's now 9:14

Probably the most frustrating day I have had golfing ever. I get they shut happens but they updated their carts with gps tracking and allowed a foursome to slow the whole course down because they were playing match play. Apparently they were talked to 4 times however pace of play was never enforced. 5 1/2 hour round of golf is not acceptable. We had people hitting into us all day and I want be back, unless I want to go to jail for fighting. read more

The service is absolutely terrible, the course conditions are not awful but not worth the green fee. You have to be 21+ to get a cart which is obscured. This creates maximum traffic on busy days causing an 18 hole game to run 6+ hours long. Have multiple groups of walkers in front of you is not ideal at all. In the clubhouse the food prices are absolutely not worth what you get. Mcdonald's meals for $20+ is crazy. read more

Have been going out the back 9 on the weekend for about two years now. Today I had my cart shut off on the 15th hole (farthest from the pro shop). The starter thought I had played more than 9 holes. Golf courses that have respect for their customers would have sent a Marshall out to talk to their customer. But not this poorly managed golf course. First time playing here. Played here on weekday. Good customer service. Very welcoming and quick check in. Course conditions were great. Lots of people working on the grounds to upkeep during the fall and after recent rain. Caused no delay. Would come here again. Good price for 18 holes and fun challenge with hills and dog legs. Walked (cart path only due rain) and the back 9 can get tiring with uphill holes. read more

Played this course 3 times. One of my favorites in Nor Cal. my complaints about other courses, is that they are cookie cutters. Every hole is not that much different. No two holes are alike a Empire. Former frequent patron here to add my one-star review. I took a friend over for lunch to show him the course. I asked my buddy in advance and he said sure, just tell them it's alright. Next day, friend with me, we had a nice lunch in spite of that rude little man flipping the nastiest looking burgers I've ever seen. I asked the manager in the pro-shop office if I could take a cart for ten minutes to show my friend the course. He was a rude prig. I even offered to pay a green fee for the bother. He said NO, it's a liability risk. Don't worry, I won't be back unless they get new management and kick both of those little asswipes out the door. read more

Attempted to celebrate Father's Day by hitting a bucket of balls of the driving range. Right next to us, was a father teaching his two daughters (elementary age) how to hit the ball. A group of four men were waiting to for the Marshal to call their start time. Two of the men were talking loudly and throwing "f" bombs into the conversation. He conversation was quite crude. The family with the young girls could clearly hear the rude conversation, and looked uncomfortable. The Marshal sitting in his golf cart, didn't not intervene for several minutes. I finally yelled,"Hey watch your language". On of the guys muttered something in reference to "Karen" and all four players laughed including the Marshal. It appears that this facility does not respect creating a welcoming atmosphere for families with children. I will no longer recommending this facility to anyone interested in playing a round or using the driving range read more

We play here usually on a weekday and it's a hit or miss on busyness. I would say more often than not we are paired up with another twosome. Rounds usually last between 4-5 hours depending on the flow. We like the layout of course as it's not too crazy challenging and fairways are wide. Greens are usually in good shape. Worst customer service by staff in the pro shop. Ask for assistance and they cant be bothered to do their job. I live 4 blocks away and would rather drive to another course to avoid the bad attitude experienced every time I've gone there. I am done with this place! Empire Ranch is in great shape. This is the course in the Sacramento region that I have played the most and I consider it a perfect example of a challenging course that plays kind of easy. Don't know if that makes sense but in essence it gives some decent challenge for the intermediate golfer but is easy enough for a beginner not to feel out of place. The course plays 6668 from the tips and really doesn't seem that long. There is OB but it is easily avoidable. The first hole gives me trouble. You need to tee off and keep your shot on the ridge or you will have a downhill lie to a sunken green. Even staying on the ridge I have misjudged that shot. The links layout makes for an enjoyable day. Watch out they are generally crowded on weekends and that can increase your round time. read more

We have been visiting Empire Ranch Golf Club for about three years -- finally got fed up with the poor customer service from the pro shop staff, and joined Cameron Park CC late last year. My wife and son went there today to purchase range balls and she was reminded why we disliked it so much. Mike spoke down to my wife and was rude with his tone. Just because he "was busy" and the "flow" of people was heightened for a few minutes. That's a stressful job? Really?? You work in a golf shop. Last time I checked you are in the customer service business. Same goes for the grill. Over the years they have had customer service issues (it's ok to say thank you or smile!), and I have seen disgruntled workers complaining about management's treatment. I spoke with "pro shop" Mike personally right after and he denied any issues (not shocking) and even his GM boss said he heard it, but didn't think anything wrong of the conversation or tone. Again, not shocking, but really disappointing that no one recognizes anything. Everyone's head is in the sand at that place. Plus my 12 year old son was there also and he even confirmed it. The place is a joke. I have many other golfing friends with kids and this is a common feeling about the club. The Folsom area needs more new golf courses any way, but what Empire Ranch Golf Club needs is a better staff from top down. Inject some youth and get with the program so everyone can enjoy the sport and put CUSTOMERS FIRST -- including kids and moms who help support the course. We have been part of Will Robbins Golf (they are fantastic) which uses Empire Ranch -- I hope they can find a different venue in the very near future. We are moving anyway and won't miss Empire Ranch Golf Club. read more

The only reason they are getting two stars is because the cart girl and the gentleman giving her "lessons" that cut in front of us, made us wait 10 minutes on the tee box 10 minutes waiting on the fairway all while hugging and kissing on the green while we were there waiting. I wish that was the worst part... not only did we have to wait but during the couple times they waited behind us in the bushes the cart girl was yelling and screaming (out of enjoyment, I hope) while we were teeing off. It was clear the gentleman only wanted access to the 19th hole.... Which I understand but you still have to be respectful of the people who paid to play the course. All in all I blame those two for me shooting a 105.... It definitely wasn't me being bad at golf lol read more

Home of the 5 hour round. The course is in rough shape, it is expensive and it takes five hours to play a round on a weekend. The greens are in good shape but that really is the only positive thing I can think of. I think the management at Empire is taking full advantage of the fact that everyone wants to play golf during covid so they put so many people out on the course it slows play to a crawl and the course is feeling the stress. Inconsistent sand traps, lots of bare spots on the fairways and rough, some of the tee boxes are a mess. Such a shame to see how poor this course has gotten, and then just add insult to experience, its a five hour round. read more

PROS - this course is in great shape an I love to play as the front nine is totally different than the back nine. Many holes have risk reward shots or opportunities. Pro shop and emloyees are cordial and willing to help. Club house serves good food. Practice facility is one of the best throughout Sacramento area. CONS - very busy & very hard to get tee time. Also, very, VERY slow play. The marshals do nothing other than ride around in the cart & once you complain, the marshals do little if anything at all to speed up pace of play...... read more

Money grab. $5 for 20 some balls. Should be able to keep the balls for that. I can buy an egg carton of balls for $5. Anyways, very visibly not up to today's health code. No tees at the range, just a mat, nothing to hold the balls, next, I'll have to bring my own mat. People steal their tubes, however, all the range balls are stolen from hole 1. Several comments on the Empire Ranch Golf Club: 1. Website states $48 to play a round during the week, yet the club house charges $50. Fix one or the other...but be honest. 2. I am irritate that I am charged a fee for a golf cart I wont use since I walk the course. I can accept a $50 fee; however, when I see a charge for a golf cart on my receipt, I find it irritating. 3. Range mats need replacement. The range mats are beyond worn. In general, you charge a premium price for the golf yet don't offer a premium product. I have taken to going to other courses while I would prefer to golf at Empire Ranch. You have serious discrepancies to fix if you want continued business. read more

I love my home course. The pace of play is great. We were able to knock out all 18 in a little less than 4 hours. Fairways and greens were in pretty nice shape for the most part. Tee boxes were decent enough, but we slipped a couple times so could be better. My one gripe would be that they close the driving range too early, but you can save money and just walk out and pick up a bunch of golf balls or go along the netting and the first hole. Overall, I enjoy playing here. read more
