Bought the living social deal expecting that i wouldn't have to pay more than $60 to get my carpets cleaned, but the living social i only for a "light clean", basically if you have any stains or difficult areas, you have to pay additional for that to be done. I ended up spending $280 on 2 small rooms rather than the expected $60. That being said, it was half my fault for not checking that before I had them come, so I cannot blame them entirely for the miscommunication. They came the next day at a decent time and did a fantastic job (check pics below), and Priel is a nice guy that is willing to negotiate a little. Bought the groupon deal for $85. Didn't realize that it was just for steam cleaning. That was my fault for not reading it properly. So I had to pay a little more. But I think it was well worth it. Priel was the guy who came and did the cleaning. Very nice guy. He did the job all by himself. He worked really hard and did a real thorough job. In short, my experience with the company was this: a very, very high dude came into my house 2 hours late, tried to upsell me (we bought that $85 Groupon deal from hell), and then proceeded to sleep in his car for the next two hours. No, I'm not kidding. He slept in his car for an hour, brought in a crusty old machine that I can only assume was, at one point, intended to be used to clean our carpets. Then he went BACK into his car and had himself a nice additional hour of drug-induced dreams. I couldn't make this up if I tried. I'd love to go into all of the sordid details with you, but let's just say he was supposed to have cleaned my carpets by 10 AM so by 3 PM, I had given up altogether and knocked on the door of his creepy white van. He woke up, and I told him we would no longer be needing his services and that he should leave. "Why?" he asked. "Are you worried the carpets won't dry in time?" Bless his heart. I guess in his wondrous dreamworld, he had already started cleaning the carpets. I didn't yell at the sleepy little guy, just patted his tired head and sent him on his way. Now you're thinking: Well, why don't you simply call his boss and complain? Well I did. And his boss said he would "take care of it", then did not take down my name or phone number. When we called back, he said he was "Sorry" but once again did not offer to even refund our Groupon. In fact, he offered us nothing. The boss, by the way, is his cousin. My husband would never have said that he was satisfied with the carpet cleaning (lack of carpet cleaning). The carpets looked the same before and after Empire Rug Cleaning. It was pointless to have even hired them. The only thing that was noticeable was that my carpets were wet for 3 days after. I could have saved the money towards new carpets, which we will need now. Also beware, if you are unsatisfied with Empire Rug Cleaning, Priel will constantly call you and text you to try to convince you that he did a good job. It's not fun being harassed by a merchant. Empire came to my house to clean a small rug on a Sunday. They cleaned the rug as promised, were nice guys, and came the same day as the request. The problem came when it came time to pay. Over the phone they had quoted me $60, but when they finished the job they told me I owed them $85. I reminded them about the quote and they said "tell you what, we'll do it for $70". Eventually, they gave in and honored the quote. They are a serviceable company but really need to re-think the up-sale model of business. We redeemed a Groupon today for a 3 room cleaning for $89. I had to give my address 4 times for the guy to get to our our house which caused him to be an hour late. I left for work and my wife was home when they arrived. I was very pleased with how clean the carpets were in the rooms, however I found they bait and switched my Wife and sold her $150 additional "deep cleaning". Deep cleaning? Isn't that what you are paying for in the first place?? What does $89 get you, not deep cleaning? What a scam. The Groupon was valued at $250, which is almost exactly what my total bill ended up being. With so many other groupons for Carpet cleaning out there, skip past these guys, they do good work at full price, if you are okay with them being an hour late. Never recommend them again. read more

They tell you they need to see your carpet before giving you a quote because once they get their foot in the door they're going to try to convince you that shampoo is better and steam clean only lasts 3 months... etc. They always recommend shampoo because you have a certain type of carpet. They have their schtick. You get the groupon but you wind up paying more because that's how they get you. I would not have written this review if the guy did not totally cut corners shampooing the upstairs loft. He thought I wouldn't go upstairs to check and then he claimed it was too heavy when I called him on it. I PUSHED the sofa aside and I am not a big guy. Also, the carpets don't look that much better anyway. Waste of $85 + $115 extra total spent. I could have paid any company $200 to get a much better experience. Empire Rug Cleaning was great! My carpet looks a million times better now- and it had some pretty bad stains. The service was quick, thorough and Mendel was polite and professional throughout. I thought the price was reasonable especially considering that I only called a few days in advance. These guys are worse than TV cable companies. I bought a voucher for Empire Rug cleaning from Amazon Local and it seemed like a great deal. But, I scheduled an appointment and they never showed up. I ended up waiting around the house all day on a Sunday. I called Empire several times that afternoon to find out what was going on and when they'd arrive. The guys were very courteous on the phone and said they were running late and short staffed, but when 6 pm rolled around I had enough of being strung along and just cancelled. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought the Amazon Local Coupon. This is a nice group of people, BUT it is all about SELL-UP and promises they do not keep. I saw the coupon opportunity and called the company to confirm that they really would clean 500 square feet (as promised on the coupon) and if they cleaned kitchen counter tile. The guy promised me they would clean any kind of tile. So I bought two coupons - one for tile cleaning and one to clean carpet in three rooms, a hallway and a set of stairs. I scheduled cleaning for the next day. I spent most of the evening moving furniture in three rooms for carpet cleaning, moving dining room table and chairs for tile cleaning and completely cleaned off my kitchen counters. Two very nice, pleasant guys arrived at the scheduled time. It was then that I learned that everything was going to cost more than the two coupons I already purchased. Turns out the tile-cleaning price ONLY included floor tile and not my counter tile. THE COUPON AD SAID TILE CLEANING AND DID NOT MAKE ANY FLOOR OR COUNTER DISTINCTION. They charge the same price for floor or counter tile cleaning, so I am not sure why I had to pay more to get the counters cleaned, but I did. Despite the fact that the total tile footage to be cleaned was still well below 500 square feet, I was charged an additional $49. They missed several obvious spots, even after I pointed out some of them. I spent a half hour re-doing what they missed. They also told me they could fix some missing grout, that day, and that it would not cost much. Once they were through cleaning the tile, they quoted me $180 to replace about 5 feet of missing grout (only 1/3 of an inch wide). We did not take that option. I was then told that the carpet coupon was ONLY for steam cleaning, and my carpets needed "deep cleaning." That added another $96. The coupon I purchased was for three rooms, a hallway and a stairway. They did one room, a hallway and half a stairway. When I asked them about the other half of the stairway, they said I did not tell them I wanted the entire stairway cleaned (it is a split stairway) and the coupon did not cover the upper part of the stairway. I got no credit for the two rooms or half-stairway they never cleaned. They did not clean the carpet under half of the sofa. It took 72 hours for the carpet to dry, even though they told me it would be dry within about 4 hours. I did have them clean a sofa - the originally quoted me $180 and then agreed to do it for $79. They did a good job on the sofa. So, somehow or other, I ended up spending an additional $145 for what should have been covered by the $164 I spent on the coupons. Frustrated, and before I posted this review, I called and asked the owner for some assistance. He promised to be out on Memorial Day to fix the problems. I questioned whether they really would make it on that day, and he promised they would be there. He also promised they would repair the five feet of missing grout at no charge because of what happened. We moved furniture the morning of Memorial Day and waited, all day, for the crew to show up. No one showed up or called. I called the owner the next day, and he was again very nice and apologetic. He had no explanation as to why the crew he promised did not show up. He told me that he did correct information on the website to reflect this issues I brought to their attention - tile cleaning is only floor cleaning. Not sure how they handled the not cleaning all they were supposed to clean and not showing up when promised issues. Bottom line - nice guys, both on the phone and in person. Bottom line - it is all about sell-up. Bottom line - they did not do what I paid them to do and did not come back to fix it when promised. Bottom line - they never delivered any accommodation, refund or service to make up for what they did not do. Bottom line - they do not do what you pay them to do. read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE THEY WERE HORRIBLE Bought a coupon from Amazon for 3 rooms. They were in the door about 5 seconds before they advised me that it would cost me 3TIMES what i wanted to pay to get the job done. I tried to explain to them how coupons work and that if i had wanted to pay that much i would have called the big name guys instead trying to support local businesses with my money. After negotiating for 20 minutes we agreed on a price "as long as you write us a good review on YELP." So the guy starts cleaning and honestly i could not tell what the big deal was or what he was doing that he felt would justuify me paying more money. His equipment was old and at one point the hose broke and WATER STARTED SPRAYING ALL OVER MY HOUSE AND STAINED MY VERY EXPENSIVE CURTAINS. The guy brushed it off as if nothing happened saying "its just water" and after replacing his broken hose he discarded the broken hose next to my apartment building and left it there for me to throw away. After he was done he AGAIN tried to bully me into paying triple what my coupon was for. I reminded him about how coupons work and again we argued about the price before i finally had to kick him out of my home. These guys are crooks and after the carpert dried the stains were all still there but the carpert was a tiny bit brighter so i guess they did do something right but certainly NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. Do not use this company!!! I called them to steam clean my carpets and upholstery. The technician Priel told me he could refinish my sautillo tile floors and make them like new. He told me the job would take a day or two. They were there for a week. Making "how to" videos and smoking more than actually working. Priel decided to bring in a "buffer" to get the sealer off the floor. They damaged every one of my cabinets toe kick and my built in breakfast nook and table. The floors have been scratched and sanded and they are ruined. They also "sealed" the floor but didn't use the correct sealer. So the tiles are not only damaged but are now unsealed. Oh and the steam cleaning they did is substandard at best. Our rugs were soaking wet and molding. My husband and I had to carry them outside to hang in the sun for 5 days. Oh and I forgot to mention during this I was having chemotherapy treatment for cancer. When I sent an email to the owner to express my experience he did come to see the damage. He offered to fix the damage but we already have seen how they fix things and were were finished with this company. There is over $15,000 damage to our home. The owner offered to refund my money. He said he would send a check. Weeks went by and we received no check. We called and were told it would be in our mailbox in a few days. It wasn't. I called again and again and finally got through to them. They promised to bring my refund check. They brought me a $400 check for the damage they caused. We paid over $2,500 for this damage. It is so disappointing to have a company come and take advantage of you when you are already compromised with a medical condition. read more

A friend bought me a Amazon Local deal to get my shower cleaned. I do not have a vent/fan in my bathroom so the shower gets a lot of mildew buildup. When the guy came to clean my shower, of course he said the deal I had was the "base" level and that I needed to upgrade (more than $100) in order to get a good clean. I'm assuming he wasn't even planning on cleaning that day. Buyers beware - they will try to upsell you - so you really aren't getting a deal at all. So, had to reschedule. This time, he was supposed to come between 3 and 5, got there at 4:45. Since I am in an apartment complex, he needed to park in the driveway in order to work, I asked him how long it would take. He said about an hour. I contacted my neighbor to let them know the driveway was going to be blocked. After an hour and half, I start to worry since my neighbors would be home soon and he didn't seem even close to finishing and he's still blocking the driveway. He was on his phone a lot....not sure if he was booking other jobs or just talking to friends, but you'd think he'd want to get the job done quickly and not spend a lot of time on the phone. He quoted me an hour, it ended up taking over 2.5 hours. Of course I have pissed off neighbors because they couldn't get in and park. Only one man showed up and my brother did most of the moving already plus helping him moved two big mattresses. ** the company didn't call to confirm the appointment. I called twice and emailed,no responded back. The guy called me finally at 9pm the day before the appointment to tell me that he'll call in the morning for the time frame, but I had to call at 11 am to find out he'll be at my house at 2pm. And he showed at 2:30 pm. First, He wanted $300 + Groupon $85. I said No thank you. Then he said 250$ then he said if I pay cash it'll be $180, which i don't have that kind of cash and I don't like bargaining. I said No, thank you and that I won't be needing the service anymore. He left, I locked the door then 5 minutes later he knocked on my door till I opened and said He'll do it for $150+85 Groupon = Total $235 . because I am the last customer of the day. I felt the pressure and I see the desperation in him. And he promised me that the carpet will look brand-new after he cleans it. So, I went ahead with it. After cleaning the carpet it didn't look new and I still see the dirty spots in the living room and one of the bedrooms area. When I mentioned it to him he said to give it about 5 hours to dry and I'll see the different. Now I m seeing the same as 5 hours ago and worse. After he was done cleaning he explained to me why the carpet didn't look like brand-new or certain area couldn't be clean. I didn't understand what he was saying I think english is not his first language and I think he meant "hair" when he keep saying "air". I do have dog so may be he meant my dog hair. i dunno. He demanded that I pay $100 in cash and $50 on my credit card plus 85$ Groupon code, luckily i had $100 in cash to pay him and i had to sign no refund contract. He got my front porch dirty with some black residues from his pipes and got my tile floor wet and dirty when he walked around with his wet shoes. In a word upsell. It states in the narrative that it is for 3 rooms and provides stain removal. We only needed 2 rooms cleaned so thought we were in good shape. I see some harsh reviews but I had a very good experience The owner came and cleaned my carpets himself and very nice and hard working . yes there was a price for an upgrade for shampooing but i just said no thanks and no pressure .. The only think i paid a tiny bit extra was 36 dollars because i had some tough stains everywhere that needed more attention and gladly paid it ... I agree good carpet cleaners are hard to find and I have had some very bad experiences but this was finally not one of them .. I had a very good experience with Empire Rug Cleaning. I hired them to clean a white sheep skin rug and black velvet couch and they did a fantastic job on both. They were available the day after I called, which was great. The guys showed up right on time (they said they'd get there between 3 and 4 and were able to make it right at 3). They were very friendly and courteous and got the job done very quickly (within only a couple hours). The rug is white and the couch is black, so both show stains very easily and therefore it is very apparent how well they cleaned them. The rug is now as super soft as when I bought it and the couch looks brand new. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again. Thanks! read more

He called me before my appointment time and gave me status as to when he would arrive, and again 30 minutes prior to arriving. Awesome! In the past, I used other vendors for this same service (Tile & Grout) many times over the past 10 years. I am happy to say that Priel did a better job then anyone from the past, and at a better final price for all I needed done. I went for the $89 Tile & Grout Steam Cleaning. Before I bought the deal, I read the advertisement, which is for steam cleaning at $89. I knew going in that I would need additional services (Pre-steam cleaning shampoo treatment and a post-steam cleaning seal treatment) that are additional fees. Most people don't know they will most likely need at least the pre-steam cleaning shampoo treatment that is not included in the deal, unless they have done this before. You will want a sealer done too, which will preserve the work done for at least a year or two. The buyer should maintain it with their own proper cleaning for lasting results. If you have just the steam cleaning done, then you probably are cleaning a room that has no traffic with no stains or soil, and don't expect any traffic in that room. Tip: Knowing they are already there, it would be wise to negotiate any additional services down in price. I will use Empire again in the future. Great job! read more

Excellent service! They got all stains out of my never-shampooed 3 year old carpet and it looks like new! Keep in mind the Groupon covers 3 rooms, a hallway & stairs but somehow that translates to only 550sf. Also shampooing is more expensive than the steam. Groupon = steam. I needed shampoo= extra$. I moved into a new apartment and my friend who lived there left me a really nice couch. The only issue was the couch had not been cleaned in forever and was very dirty. The nice brown color was covered with layers of gray dust everywhere! I called almost every steam cleaning company in L.A. and Empire had the best pricing and best reviews so I went with them. BEST decision EVER! They were at my house 15 minutes early and unloaded their industrial-sized steamers (Which was awesome! Some companies have the small steamers which are useless, you can rent those at the supermarket) They got to work on my couch right away and within 1 hour I didn't even recognize the couch! I purchased a deal for carpet steam cleaning for up to 3 rooms (up to 600 Square Feet) from Amazon Local for $59. The owner and his assistant showed up on time. My carpets were quite soiled, but within a few minutes were clean including several areas stained from cat urine. I did not opt for additional services such as shampooing or sanitizing. The results appear to be as good as more expensive work that I have had done in the past. read more
