Overall great value, sales and installation! First I want to say I really love my carpet and the selection was amazing! Steven was my sales guy, he was thorough in explaining the carpets, showed times of options-in our house, and gave his direct never before he left. I changed my mind in the color and they were responsive and quickly sent over new paperwork. They texted and emailed to confirm installation date and called 1/2 before arrival. Install crew was 3 people did upstairs 3 bedrooms hallways and closets, stairs going up and down both with turns. Basement was large living room- really 2 rooms and a bedroom with closet. Moved all furniture and put it back in the correct place. They were there from 8-3 all done and cleaned up! Some potential drawbacks-Their Plush style carpets were polyester but in todays world I don't think that has the same drawbacks it used to. I did feel a little pressured to make a decision while he was there in my house, right after measuring. When I changed my mind they were a little hesitant to allow me to take carpet samples from showroom back to my house. Moving the nick-knacks and books to a lot of time, they offered to come earlier than original schedule but I wasn't ready. (Not a knock against them just an FYI, if you have stuff in the floors of your closets or lots of shelves) PS for a variety of reasons I don't plan to use them for my LVP. read more

Contractors came out to install carpet on our stairs . The first contractors came on the August 18th and said they couldn't do the job because it was too hard and would take a full day. The second contractors came today and said they can't do stairs. The salesperson and contract stated carpet replaced on stairs and five landings. We had taken off from work twice to have carpet installed. I would give them zero stars. read more

Review of Empire Today / Luna Carpet Services: I originally booked with Empire Today, but they told me they were too busy and passed my project off to their "sister company," Luna, without much explanation. I went along with it, and we scheduled carpet replacement for our staircase -- about 26 steps total. They told me the job would be done in three stages: one day for installation, one for binding, and one for a final check. No specific time slot was given, and instead, I was woken up at 7:00 AM by a call from the installer saying he was already in my driveway. He came in, did only six of the 26 stairs, then abruptly said he was finished and left -- leaving a large, uncut piece of carpet on the bottom floor. When I moved the carpet, I discovered a hole in the floor that had been covered up. I immediately tried to contact Luna, but was told I'd have to wait "24 business hours" -- which somehow means three days -- to get any response. No one answers their phone, and even Empire can't get through to Luna when they try on my behalf. It's been over 24 hours, and I still have a hole in my floor and only a quarter of the job completed. I even texted the installer directly to ask what happened with the stairs. He replied saying he didn't do it. I then told him I was just going to call Luna, and only then did he reply saying he would come back to fix it -- but I haven't seen him since. Empire has been no help, and Luna seems totally unreachable. At this point, I feel completely scammed. I want a full refund. So we had the carpet (winhaven/utopia) reinstalled mid December 2025. It initially seemed great. But after 1 month it started causing some kind of film to form on everything. Prior to this we had a brand new hvac system installed and ducts cleaned and checked again. Its definitely coming from this carpet. This is the second and final time we will do business with Empire. However. The carpet he recommended to replace our Berber in the family room was praised as pet friendly and durable. We never had thread or yarn pulling up from that Berber. But not even 4 months and the one Empire sold us is terrible! It is so ways near durable. Dogs just walking on i, kids playing with Legos and Barbie dolls, cause the yarn to pull up, then it gets caught in the vacuum cleaner! The local company serving Stafford, VA has failed to provide effective customer service and instalation and timely execution of our contract. I had contracted for multi rooms and stairways to replace carpet. I followed the video and sales team's guidance on prepping for the install and less than 24 hrs before the date, they cancelled due to their delivery error. It was rescheduled for 3 weeks later, but on the day of the install, only 2 workers arrived and advised they could not complete the job. The scheduling manager and an accounting manager were contacted and, without apology, quoted lines in a complex contract, demanding full payment before completing any work. They completed 1/2 of the work, but rescheduled the remainder for the following Tuesday only to change that date 24 hrs. later. I have taken 3 days off work completely disrupted and packed my home to comply with instalation requirements only to be rudely dismissed by Empire management. I do not support anyone contracting with this company! read more

Having them remove carpet and install snap in LVP in 500 sq ft basement was $19,000 retail, but then they "discounted" to $8,000. I told them NO, and then they called me back the next day and said they would do $5,800. Sales tactic made me feel very uncomfortable working with them. Also, the sample LVP they were offering was not the quality they say that it is. You can get better quality stuff from a Home Depot for less money per sq ft. read more

I was given so much misinformation in my sales pitch that at this point I don't know if my floors even have a warranty. Extra work had to be done on my subfloors downstairs before they could install. This was after my salesman looked in my vents and said all was good. At a cost of thousands. I was given incorrect info about the financing terms so will have a $1k payment for 24 months. There were items stolen from my home that my mother gave me before she passed away. Huge gouges were taken out of the walls and wood trim. I should be thankful my floors look good for the time being, but at what cost. The people I have spoken to at Empire, other than the installers have been smug, unprofessional, and disregarding of any wrongdoing on the part of their company. My salesman, Rudy, was very likable on his visit. He was in his 80's and had a good story. Unfortunately, he lied during the presentation. Installation was today and we do not have major complaints but he lied on several issues. First or all, he told us how all the installers were required to go to a multiple week training with stringent requirements. Our installer stated that he never was sent to training but learned over the years. Also, Rudy presented a protection plan that he said was "included" with the initial agreement but in the end, we paid over $400 for an "insurance" plan to cover issues. He specifically said, "it is included in the price"to deny my claim when I pointed out to my wife that it was a "protection plan" during initial sales pitch. Very disappointing. read more

Purchased a house with flooring done by empire in 2021. It's now 2023 and the stairs have been broken for a year, the floors are not leveled and uneven, multiple loose unlocked vinyl pieces, pieces cut too short, stair lips completely loose and coming off. I called to see if there was any warranty or anything and was told someone would call me in 24 hours and they never did. Did not honor agreed upon contract price the salesman agreed to, wanted to add $3000 more for removal ov the old floor. I agreed, then the installation team said they would have to replace the entire sub floor as well. Note, no removal had been started yet and the installation team hadnt begun any work, so they wanted to add an additional $4,000 on top of the additional $3,000, so my agreed upon price had increased by $7,000. They (Empire) were horrible. They rescheduled me 4 times. No concern for people who have to work and call out. They didn't bring what I ordered. I was replacing the carpet on the stairs for hardwood and and white (wood?) on the risers, so I can visually distinguish each step. This was $4,397. After 4 reschedules, a huge mess/dust every where, my stairs was all the same color. No white risers. The workmen did a good job and worked hard but there was a language barrier. I called Empire telling me they didn't see my white risers on their computers. And there is nothing they can do now. I said I should also get a discount due to all the reschedules I gotten from them because it cost me money due to having to stay at home when I could have worked. (tutored) I thought at least 20%-25%. They gave me$250 off. Personally I found that offensive. I will not use them again. I want to replace my entire 2nd floor with new carpeting. Empire Sales Rep tried to rip me off. Mgmt knows and does nothing I sent the following to Empire Today headquarters at 333 Northwest Ave, Northlake IL 60164 In my entire life until now I had never encountered the extent of blatant misconduct from a sales representative, then lackadaisical mismanagement from leadership as I've witnessed with Empire Today since becoming your customer in November 2021. I am writing to you because in more than six months I've received no resolution for the following issues pertaining to my $1,800 project. During my In-Home Estimate in Annandale, VA on November 2nd, 2021, my Sales Representative [name removed] fell in love with a piece of artwork that I own on the basis that his wife would enjoy it, and offered the direct exchange of the Empire Service Plan valued at $250, and implied that if I did not trade the item then I would pay for the ESP out of pocket. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) He stopped our discussion at one point early and sent his wife photos of the framed print. Additionally, [he] refused to honor a $250 discount code that I provided him on the basis that he would give me a "better deal." I later learned from the local Assistant Manager James [last name removed] that the ESP is normally provided to the customer at no additional cost, and that the basis for refusing the discount code was illegitimate. In the moment when [Sales Rep] proposed this trade, I refused the exchange of personal property for company resources, as [my Sales Rep] had already phoned his uncle, a painter, during our appointment, believing [Sales Rep] was doing me a favor by finding a contractor who could help with the early phase of my project. Only then, [Sales Rep] offered to include the ESP in the deal. Trusting [him] and his uncle only led to more problems. [Sales Rep's] uncle fell short of the agreed upon scope of work, demanded increased payment during an abrupt departure and left the flooring transitions to the Empire crew the next morning who utterly screwed up the installation while [Sales Rep] facilitated from afar. Despite Empire's one floundering effort to make a repair, to this day it hasn't been fixed. I wanted to give the team the opportunity to tackle what they already acknowledge is a legitimate warranty issue and keep [Sales' Rep's] misconduct out of the picture, but the local manager Doug [last name removed] has been a total deadbeat. Months have passed with his inaction with the warranty, so on April 27th I reported [Sales Rep's] tactics. [Assistant Manager James] seemed to want to help but committed to nothing. He stated on May 23rd that his team would honor the discount code refused of me, and that [Manager Doug] was picking out new transitions. Nothing has come of it and nobody has contacted me again since I reached out on May 23rd and received his reply on the 24th. In my strong opinion it's time for the adults to begin making the decisions on behalf of [Manager Doug]. I am asking for your intervention as soon as possible. read more

I've owned 3 homes and used Empire for flooring solutions multiple times. The set up and installation is pretty much what you expect from a "budget flooring company". The sales process was quick and easy, the installation set up was a bit slower, but my latest issue was with the warranty / touch up process. We had some damage to the flooring, within the warranty time frame, and as a result, part of the flooring needed to be pulled up. Empire didn't leave us with any extra flooring planks so we was unable to patch it up. We contacted them and someone came out to inspect, that we had to pay $175 for. The area needing patched was 3' x 4', so 12 sq ft. Empire came back with a quote of $2,000 cuz they needed 10 boxes. I hope I'm not alone in wondering why this number seems so crazy. We called to ask about it and they said they had to go with their installers recommendations. We went back and forth and they finally came down to $1,000 to do the work. In this exact home, that needed the fix, we had them install a closet and two full bedrooms and it costed us $2,500 but now they want to do a 12 sq ft area for $2k. The blank area in the image is what needed to be patched. We went to Lumber Liquidators and got a similar pattern for $50 for the flooring and had an installer fix the area for $200. If you want a cheap floor installed then Empire is great but if you want any customer service after the flooring is in place, you may want to look somewhere else. Seems the combo of the scathing online reviews, and our sales agent assistance, we actually made contact with someone in lower middle management, in their corporate headquarters in Chicago. Was able to get the crew back out the next day for a 4pm install, and a credit for our trouble. 4pm the crew arrived...but they had no knowledge of the credit issued to us, so they wanted payment for the remaining job. Phone calls galore, and finally they received confirmation. 30 minutes wasted. Oh well. Install went smoothly and professionally. If it wasn't for all of the miscommunications between corporate and sales and installers, installers flaking out, and unapologetic customer service, we'd be thrilled with the result. This review is for Luna - same company as Empire. I hired them to come in replace half my home and the stairs. I was told I'd have installation within 48 hrs. I was elated ! They were also a solid 1k less than my other quotes. Then I was told they didn't have enough floors. I waited a week. Then they came and STILL didn't have enough to finish the stairs. On top, they also didn't have the right moldings for the stairs. Now I have exposed wood on my stairs while waiting for them to return to finish the job. This is a headache keeping a toddler away from the exposed nails. All said and done, it will be 3 weeks waiting for the whole job to be done. When someone is out sick, there is also not a back up person who can push orders and make sure the job stays on track. read more

My issue is with price only. I didn't go further. The sales people are good at their job. Nice, they sound knowledgeable, and so on. However, they try to convince you that it's the best price you will find. Especially with the "price match guarantee" all while your "offer" Is only good for a short time. I think ours was 7 days. We have a 1500 Sq ft home. We have one tiny bathroom and half of the house is a walkout basement. The kitchen/dining room are connected and probably about 40x14 in size. Our quote with one our their free install deals was over 7k for our kitchen and our 8x4 bathroom. Ridiculously doesn't cover it. I could only imagine the price quote for my basement if it needed leveling or something else. We went to Sherwin Williams and paid 500 cash with using their in stock carpet for our basement which is the same size as our kitchen. Just keep that in mind. The project may have been slightly different, but not 6500 worth of different. The basement carpet was for a room in our basement. read more

Jack the salesman was quick and thorough with his estimate. Helped me with a great price to carpet most of the house and my sunroom (laminate hardwood). The installation was mostly seamless. The crew worked hard and did a great job. There was a miscommunication on the stair runner and closet doors needed shaving down (they didn't have the tools but sent a crew the following weekend). Customer care was responsive and overall I think the value and execution was worth it. Splurge for the fancy padding and Pleasant Valley carpet. It's heavenly. read more

This is my second time using Empire. As others have said, you are risking your money on this one because they contract out. What I find so incredibly sad these days is the lack of customer service. I am paying thousands for a service and that service acts as if they are doing me a favor, so they pull crap such as scheduling something with an eight hour window, keeping customers hostage all day for the contractor not to show at all, which is what happened to me today. Their other customer had "more furniture than we realized", I did not get one call, just a half assed apology when I phoned to see what was going on. I wont be using Empire again after this, and I have other flooring to do in my home-I rescheduled this appt, so I'm positive I will update this review. So they finally showed at 4:15, the contractor could not find my financing, was on the phone with Chicago (main office) for 20 minutes, then they finally miraculously found it, he tells me there is not enough wood for the job. January 1/25/2022 I signed a contract for Embossed Bradstreet Oregon Oak Honeytone. On 1/28/2022 Empire Today installed defective flooring. They installed two different textures of the same color. Embossed and a smoother version of it. They would not return phone calls so I contacted the BBB. Then they contacted me and sent someone out to assess the situation. I was told that the situation would be corrected but they showed up with the wrong flooring. I refused the installation. Stated that the floor chosen had been discontinued so I needed to pick another selection. That is what I did and again they showed up with the wrong flooring. Then they became hostile stating that this is the flooring I ordered. I have pictures of what I ordered and what they tried to install. I then contacted the Office of the Attorney General and we went back and forth about the situation. Stated that, this is what I ordered and it is not their fault the flooring does not match and they will not return the money. AG recommended that I get an Attorney because Empire Today was not trying to correct the situation. So I reached out to them a last time to see if this situation could be fixed. I told them I wanted the flooring I had chosen in January from their selection that was embossed...... not the smooth flooring they kept bringing to my house. After two attempts to have our carpets installed, we have cancelled our order. The first day they said the first job took too long but nobody called and it was almost 4pm by the time we found it out wasn't happening. Today, again, they didn't call, so I called at 9.45am and was told it would be 12-2. The installation manager was meant to call me back. Again, he failed to do so. I called back at 2.30pm to be told that no installers had my job assigned so it wouldn't be happening today. Again. We cancelled our order. Completely unreliable. Empire provided a great experience from beginning to end with our luxury vinyl plank installation. The installers were professional and courteous and knew their stuff. They ripped up our ceramic tile flooring down to the subfloor. It was seriously failing, cracked, grout failing, etc., just bad. The end result is a beautiful LVP floor in our home, main entrance, hallway, kitchen, dining area, and family room. I believe the cost was commensurate with the quality of the product and workmanship! I highly recommend Empire! read more

Stay far away! I feel like I just got scammed. It has been 2 weeks since I have received a follow up on my appointment/ cancellation. They showed up for my appointment claiming not to have enough supplies so they didn't want to start on a room and not do the other. After a few days of waiting for a reschedule appointment, no one called. So, I canceled but get this, you gotta wait 24hrs for the cancellation department to call and fully cancel. That was 2 weeks ago, they have collected the payment, I'm currently fighting with the bank about it. Every time I call no one can help, the customer service is TRASH!!!! Stay far away!!! I am ONLY writing this review to save others from the hassle and nonsense we had to experience when we decided to hire Empire! Let me assure you that I don't like writing reviews and I am not one to enjoy taking people's time to listen/read my jabber. But this I need to share for the greater good! First of all, I am not competitor of Empire. I am a pain management physician. As such I didn't want to allocate so much to learn about construction because I am very busy. But fortunately I had the pleasure (applying heavy loads of sarcasm) of doing hours of research because of the incompetence of people that they sent out that boldly claim to be professionals. This company and these "professionals" have been anything but professional. As I am writing this review, our project and now issue has not yet been resolved. This is after 4 times trying to get a job done that otherwise would take one try. To sum up and in respect to your time and energy, I am going to conclude my review here and to say that if you decide to hire Empire, at least in our experience, for anything flooring, you will be disappointed royally. I truly hope that it wouldn't be the case but not in our experience. P.s. if you want the details, continue reading. First try: We scheduled and picked the the porcelain tiles. Two young men came to instal. It was a cold rainy day. From the moment they stepped into our apartment until they left, he came up with thousands excuses and "pro-lems" not to instal those tiles. He advised us that luxury vinyl is better. So they left. Second try: Next week, we took Friday off for the second crew. They rolled up to the gates, we buzzed them in. Waited 15-20 mins, no one came upstairs. I went downstairs to see what's going on and why they are taking so long to start work. They were gone. We called their manager to see what happened. They told their manager that they knocked and no one opened. On which universe that makes sense, I don't know! Third try: they came and installed the vinyl flooring. Almost immediately all three areas raised and had a bubbling affect. So cheap looking. We called and they said they would send and inspector. 4th visit: The inspector came out to document our complaint. 2 baths, kitchen flooring. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP). All three areas have bubbles where you can see the sloped floor. He exclaimed that this was a job poorly done. He took bunch of pictures and told us that he will write a report and they will get back to us. Two weeks later and after calling them repeatedly: they told us that they will send the first crew that did not want to the job to do the job. We have refused their work furthermore. Do yourself a favor and run from this company. If I could give negative reviews I would. Our floors turned out beautifully, but buyer beware if they damage your home while installing the floors. The damage done to our home was moderate and the installer tried to get us to resolve the issue "under the table" so he wouldn't get dinged. The process to get this taken care of has been SO PAINFUL. The onus is put on YOU the customer to source vendors to get the damage replaced. Of course, don't be shocked when you go through the process and "management" chooses the cheapest quote. We had been working with a flooring company for our last two projects, but the cost of the new project was significantly more than we were expecting. We decided to remove all but the last two rooms of carpeting in our house (the bedrooms this time). We have carpeting in my basement office and we have carpeting in the master walk-in closet. The rest of the house is wood flooring! The representative from Empire (David) was very considerate, and explained everything that was going to happen! David pushed Empire from a 4 to a 5 and then delivered a price significantly closer to what I was expecting. The only reason I am taking one star is because frankly the cleanup at the end of the job was below average. The quality of the flooring, sales process and overall project was exceptional. I do have to note that it is a little strange to step on wood floors after years of carpeting! read more

They installed a new floor and within a year I need them to replace an entire room because the floor had shifted and boards rising at the meeting points. A year later I had the same issue with the remaining rooms on the 1st floor and was told there was nothing they could do after one year. I asked to speak to someone else and was told this was as far as my complaint would go and that if I required any additional service they would charge my account. These clowns couldn't install a floor to save their lives. You would basically have the same results as Empire Today if you sledgehammer your floor and glue popsicle sticks together. Buyer beware. All they have going for them is extensive advertising. I fell sucker to it. Salesmn came in, helpful at first, til he made the sale. Downhill from there. They did install the flying in one day and a half. They also did tile, in the bathroom, which I am satisfied w/. On the other hand, the flooring has nail pops, separating pieces, creaks. Thy told me, oh well. It has been over a year. Mind you we just lost a year due to COVID. they wanted to charge me to send someone out to take a "look" at it. The resolution dept is a joke, took over a month to even get a call back and that made it over a year. Coincidence? I think not. If I could score them any lower, I would.
