For those of you that are considering flooring in your homes, I recommend you buy your flooring and have someone install it. Don't use companies like Empire - here is my story- we bought new flooring in November 2021 from Empire and we had a flood in the bathroom in February. We also noticed an area, not affected by the flood, that has started to buckle. Ok, no problem. Buy more planks and have it redone, sure. EXCEPT Empire doesn't sell planks to the consumer and our insurance company has a contractor list of preferred contractors and Empire is not on the list. We prefer to stay with the preferred list. Why? Because Empire is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE-read on...... So, the contractor tried to contact Empire- they were hung up on. I have attempted to call and no calls back. How is this acceptable? You don't even want to know how much the flooring cost!!! I could have purchased a car! At any rate, moral of this story - read my first sentence! Yes, purchased the warranty - this would cover the buckling IF I COULD EVER GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE! But, since no one wants to be responsive and take care of their customer - not sure where the sense of customer service went, we will be ripping the flooring out (because we can't find matching flooring) and NEVER using or recommending Empire Flooring to anyone we know. So glad I was able to spend my hard earned money on this sham of a company. Customer reviews state this a problem - read them online it is clear they only care about getting your initial investment. Where do I begin...what a nightmare of a company to work for. I spend almost $15k for a job that the sales said would be 3 days. After over 3 weeks, the job is still not done. The installer was decent at first but them lied one after another. During the installation, he couldn't do some of the things he was hired to do so I had to do them myself. Then found out they didn't order enough replacement baseboard and when being remedied, the sales person said it would be on empire to cover the additional cost but I got a call 10 min later saying it would be another $500. The installer couldn't do everything he was supposed to, put the toilets he removed on the carpet and got the water everywhere but didn't say anything. Said the job was complete without it being done so I had to call and have another job opened up. Was told that the wrong part was ordered several times and still wasn't in after 3 weeks until I called and FINALLY spoke with someone who said they have the piece and didn't know what I was talking about. So ultimately it was a lie by the installer who just didn't want to do his job. I kept trying to call to get the problem handled and install finished but took a week before I actually talked to someone to complain. The "customer service" rep was rude and didn't care about anything but after complaining enough, they said they had the piece needed the entire time and opened another order, saying it was "covered by the warranty" when the job was never done in the first place. If you've read this far just know there's even more that as of today, has not been resolved. The photo is one piece of what they claim to be "a completed job". If you're considering Empire Today I'd take a second and re-consider. We had our home re-carpeted and tiled. 1st floor is tiled, top Floor is carpeted, after 1.5 to 2 years the carpet started buckling severely, if you're not careful you'll trip and possibly fall. We brought this to Emipire's attention and without hesitation they responded that the labor was out of warranty. Re-stretching the carpet will be at our cost of $595. I was shocked that they wouldn't at least consider a visit to review the issue, after all we spent over $15k on this flooring. Empire wouldn't even take a look and/or consider a possible compromise e.g. splitting, or mitigating the cost. Subsequently we called various carpet installers for quotes, most came in at $250. If I were to think about Empire's over-the-phone quote, I would presume in our experience that with their attitude and response that they're "done with you after the sale". My son got a thorn from debris in his foot, they left nails around the house, nails sticking out of baseboards, and pieces of our baseboard are missing. I am telling every person I know how horrible my experience with this company was. 1) The first day was good, everything was going smoothly, the supervisor was there showing the workers what they would need to do. However, once he left, it became a guessing game. There were only 2 people who were going to be installing 500+ feet of tile. They would leave without telling me, show up the next day whenever, and since they were working on the top floor, I could hear it, so I knew they took 3-4 hour breaks. They probably worked on it a total of 4 hours a day, max. 2) After a WEEK, they just stopped showing up altogether! I called them, no answer. I called their supervisor, no answer. I called the OFFICE, no answer. Just gone. No one reached me until the NEXT DAY, saying the workers truck broke down but it would be fixed the next day. Unprofessional, fine, sure, just come back tomorrow. They did not come back the next day. Did the ring-around calling again, the supervisor had to call the workers and MAKE them come back. When they did, they stayed for 2 HOURS. Mind you, I do not have access to my kitchen or bedroom this entire time. I've had to order out every meal for over a week now. I can't sleep in my own bed. No straight answers, no replacement workers, nothing. I am practically crying in frustration every day. 3) It's finally all done, and its a mess. Grout on the walls, trash everywhere. They broke the handle to a chest when moving it. They left PALLETS in my carport, dirty mops, pieces of wood. I call them up to send someone out to clean up, and it's the same worker as before. He does not speak English and I do not speak Spanish, so when he shows up, I can't even tell him what needs to happen. We just flail our hands at each over to try and communicate. Then he leaves without having done ANYTHING. Eventually, the supervisor himself has to come over and clean up. I also point out that the worker messed up the grout on the front door. The supervisor tells me he needs to order a special caulk for it. I wait for the call to schedule THAT repair. 4) That never happens. I've called, emailed, texted, left over 10 voicemails, nothing. It has been over 6 weeks since he told me he would order the caulking. No one answers the phone, no one responds to me at all. When I try to go through the website chat, they just tell me to call the office. my GOD. I finally get a hold of someone, after calling every 2-3 days for over a month, and they have NO RECORD OF THE REQUEST. They tell me they have to contact the supervisor, but now HE WON'T ANSWER. So they say they'll call me back, but is that going to take another month too? Absolutely ridiculous. A complete joke. These other 1 star reviews aren't lying; this is a complete nightmare. The morning my carpet installation was scheduled, I was left in the cold. By noon after several calls to several numbers that went nowhere, I finally spoke with a representative. They informed me that my carpet installation would need to be rescheduled in two weeks. My movers had to put all items in the garage but I was scheduled for installation 4 days later. One week after installation, all transitions are coming up and unraveling. I have broken tile at transitions and they put the seem directly in the middle of the living room. After 5 phone calls and finally getting through to a supervisor, I have my review of issue appointment scheduled next week. This will be 3 weeks after the installation of the carpet. I am giving one star on customer service because the telephone is never answered. One star on installation scheduling because they did not communicate with me on the day of installation as well as wanting to reschedule two weeks later, of course after I have already paid in full. One star on repair scheduling because it takes 1-3 business day to even get a phone call to get the repair schedules. One star on installation because who in their right mind would lay the seem of the carpet to meet up in the dead center of the living room? This is still not resolved. Good luck Empire. Worst possible experience. They made an installation date and no one called or showed up. We called them and they stated we should hear back by 11AM the next day on what happened. No one called and we called them again to figure out what was going on. Each Customer Service rep we spoke to never knew about the conversation we had with the rep before them. We were told we could get $100 (supposedly this is normally $50) for a missed installation due to the inconvenience of having to take a day off work and moving things in the house for a no-show and no communication. Then the new installation date came a week later and again no calls, and when we called, there was no record of our new installation date in the system and no reference of a discount. They wanted to set up installation for a week later... again. At this point we asked for the order to be cancelled. This was a major inconvenience as time off was taken and we were told to move large items so that installation could take place; for the better part of a week we slept on the floor. Each Customer Support rep stated they were making reference #'s and notes in the system, but each new rep we spoke to saw no record of any of the conversations. We have filed a case with the BBB and I will be posting this experience in every venue available to me from Next Door, Yelp, Google, Facebook, Instagram, etc. I will be making sure the word goes out on this unacceptable lack of professional behavior. Stay far away from this company, you will regret working with them and the experience will leave you feeling blatantly abused. Empire caused significant emotional distress - if you can understand the need to take precious time off and displacing your home and your family and be left waiting with no communication from a company you are waiting on coming to your home to perform a service. They give you a window of 8AM to 6PM and basically refuse to have a conversation or perform any troubleshooting until after the window has lapsed. They never had a manager available and never knew why the installers were not contacting us. This company has no regards for their customers. Overall, not satisfied with the product or the installation or service. We had our whole has done with floating vinyl plank flooring a bit over three years ago. I can now say, having lived with the product, as well as having gone through the installation procedure and two (yes two already) repair service calls, that going with Empire Today is a regrettable decision. SALES: Our sales rep was fine. He was amiable. Though, in hindsight, he clearly oversold the product and service. We were told that this flooring was the height of technology, nearly indestructible, was long-lasting and durable, required little in the way of maintenance and care, etc. INSTALLATION: We were having a combination of tile and carpet being replaced. I am guessing they (sub-contracted installers) were getting a flat-rate for the job, so time was of the essence. There were a few times we had to keep them from cutting corners. This brings me to my first BIG CAUTION! Keep a close eye on the install crew in your home. Inspect their work as they go along. We had multiple cases where we had to clarify and have them 'fix' work as they went. This was especially true for the baseboards. That was clearly a rush job. I never was completely satisfied with the work done in that area. Also, the installers sent to your home are just that, flooring installers. They ARE NOT furniture and appliance movers. Now, this sold to you as part of the service. They will move your furniture and appliances. Well, they broke both my oven door and my freezer door handle. They almost broke a dresser. Clearly, the crew did not really know the proper way to move furniture or appliances. BE CAREFUL! I would have much preferred a more professional and careful installation crew. MY FIRST REPAIR CALL: After installation was complete, we were then made aware of just how much care and concern was needed to live with this type of flooring. I wish this information would have been provided during the sales call. Right after installation, I ordered thick floor mats and replacement rubber-vinyl wheels for our office chairs. This was all in hopes of being as gentle with our new floors as possible. About a year into our floors, a few planks under the chair one of our rooms were almost completely disintegrated. The joints/seams were popping, breaking. These had spent all of their time under the protective floor mats and vinyl plank-friendly chair wheels. We called to get a repair. Luckily, it was just within the 'one year warranty' period. In hindsight, maybe this should have been a red flag... that this ultra-durable product only had a one-year warranty. By the way, we did spend an extra two-grand for the extended, four-year warranty (more on that in a bit). They did come out and make the repair. Although, in one corner of the room, the last plank did not quite reach the full length of the floor and the installer tried to finish up and leave with a gap in the floor at that spot. After pointing it out, he did actually 'finish' the job. MY SECOND REPAIR CALL: Just recently, we had to make another repair call. It turns out our ultra-durable, long-lasting flooring was falling apart in three other spots in our home! The planks are literally crumbling in place, cracking, splitting, flaking. Again, these are in a combination of low-traffic areas, or under protective floor mats. Remember that $2,000 warranty I mentioned a bit ago... yeah, that's pretty much worthless. It turns out that, because the damage is not due to 'an accident', they won't pay. LESSON FOR YOU! If you have to call and are hoping for a warranty repair, make sure the damage was caused by an accident! The extended warranty does not cover poor product or installation. My 'accident' was being a customer of Empire Today, apparently. I finally started looking at doing a repair myself. As I began pulling up the destroyed planks, I discovered that they were GLUED to my foundation. Yes, my 'floating' flooring had been glued to the foundation by their installers. A clear violation of the installation instructions and the likely cause of the damage. So, this repair will have to be out-of-pocket for me. Nevermind that I already spent over 24k on the floor ONLY THREE YEARS AGO! CONCLUSION: Shop around. Ask a million questions. Get assurances (in writing). Keep an eye on your installers. Don't believe what the sales guy/gal says. Remember, you will not have professional furniture/appliance movers in your home. Be prepared for extra expenses and extra repairs that you will likely need to make. No matter what you are sold, wear those white gloves around your flooring. Very pleased at first, our appointment for VP was set up and immediately to be delivered 2/1/2021 and after the planking got acclimated (24 hours) removal of the old laminate flooring would be done the next day as well as new VP installed. However, the workers showed up 2/1 planning on taking up the laminate and installing the VP. After talking to the salesman and company we were told they made a mistake and the VP could be installed immediately. No problem. The workers spoke in Spanish and when asked to speak English we were ignored. Uncomfortable two days. The workers did do an excellent job, we must say. Just refused to speak English while in our home. Next the carpets were supposed to be installed 2/4. Workers showed up on 2/4 and told us they couldn't install because the laminate hadn't been taken out. They also stated the carpet was cut 3 ft too short for both rooms. They spoke with their boss (maybe subcontractors) and told us they would be back tomorrow for installation. Tomorrow came, two more carpet men showed up and again since the laminate was still there they couldn't install the carpet. They called their office and told us someone would contact us and let us know what will happen next. No calls back from anyone. This was now Friday. Saturday Empire corporate called and we explained what was going on. She said she talked to a supervisor and the laminate would be taken out Monday as well as the installation. She even supplied a confirmation number. Monday came, no one called, no one came. I contacted Empire again and was told no one in the office had any idea of what I was talking about. They didn't have any records of any of the above information. Having a confirmation number was useless. Then was told the laminate would be removed and carpets installed the next day. The next day came and the laminate was taken out and later in the day the carpet men installed the carpets. May we state all the installers and uninstallers were absolutely wonderful and they all did an excellent job. Communications with Empire was frustrating. Leaving messages on their answering machines did no good. No one called back. Originally the only time I was able to talk to a person was when they called for a survey. Communications with the subcontractors and Empire must also be nonexistent, since Empire claimed they knew nothing. We will never use Empire again. The floor boards were damaged during installation, edges were not aligned, on top of the crappy work, they said they would replace the floor boards but with some that did not match the rest of the room or the house. THEY NEVER SHOWED despite lying to us, telling us they called to reschedule. So that time we went elsewhere. So we are looking to replace the carpet in our bedrooms and decided to give Empire a chance. We called and talked with a very friendly girl to schedule the appointment day and time. AGAIN A NO SHOW! I had new flooring installed in my upstairs loft and hallways. Floors look great but when they put the trim back in it was less than perfect. I gave them a break on that because it was poor trim to start with. My issue is I have a spot where the flooring is coming up and getting them to come repair it is difficult. Had 10-yr warranty carpeting put in our house that was top quality for wear only to have it breakdown 1.5 year post install. When I called support to inquiry about the warranty, i was told its not covered. This after 2 months of chasing down a responsible person (6+ calls & emails) within their "service dept". Receptionist wouldn't give me any manager names, which is a quality of business issue, then passed me to a 'floor mgr.' that sounded like she was just out of high school. I had laminate flooring installed in my home office on 1 June of 2021, by mid July I had seam separation in a couple of spots and called for warranty service so the strips could be replaced. Well, they sent out a crew but did not provide enough laminate material to complete the job. The crew said they would have to replace a larger quantity of laminate and would return with the proper materials. This was August 12th. I have been trying to get ahold of the scheduling person to effect a repair but have had minimal luck in getting through. I have left messages numerous times and requested a call back, no call back. Other times I called the main number and the recording said they "would save my place in line and call me back", no call back. Wow! An amazing experience. I booked an Appt the night before and the sales guy showed up the next day at noon. Brought samples, measured and gave a quote on the spot. Offered to install a day and half later. I worked with Home Depot for over a week and it wasn't easy at all. Installation went super smooth. Showed up early in the morning and went to work. Very polite and did an amazing job. Put all my furniture back and made sure I was satisfied. I am so impressed how easy this entire process was. They were even a $1,000 cheaper than Home Depot. My project with Empire Today flooring was one of the most frustrating, stressful, and upsetting experiences I have ever had. From start to finish, the project was an absolute nightmare of unprofessionalism and lack of communication. I was managing a full-house floor replacement for my elderly grandparents, as my grandmother was currently in the hospital and would be coming back in a wheelchair. While the salesman was at the house writing up the sales contract, I stressed that I had to have proper communication during the entire job. He said it wouldn't be a problem, and included it in the notes for the contract. The job was supposed to start the following Monday. I asked several people, including the salesman, to give me a 20-minute heads up when they were on the way to my grandparent's house because I did not live there and would have to meet them there. My grandfather has dementia and would not understand why they were there. I received an alert on their security camera that the workers had just arrived without any warning and were banging on the door. I had to drop everything and rush over there. When I arrived, I asked the installers why they hadn't called me. They were very evasive and insisted that they would just leave. I told them no, we wanted to get the job started. I went inside to check on my grandfather, who was very upset that these men had just shown up at the door. Then, the workers just leave without any explanation. I call the office, only to be told that they have no idea what's going on and won't be able to send another crew until the next day. We were on a very strict timeline, as every delay in the project would cost an extra $400 a day to keep my grandmother where she was until the house was safe for her to return to. The next day, a second crew shows up. This crew also did not give me any warning, I just happened to be there anyway when they showed up. So, once again, zero communication. This crew immediately tells me they won't be able to do anything today because the floor has to acclimate for 24 hours. This was never explained to me. If the crew from the previous day had dropped off the materials instead of leaving without any word, we could have gotten started. So, this new crew brings in all the materials and leaves. Another wasted day. The third day of the project, only one person showed up when there were supposed to be two. The single installer began moving large furniture on his own and tearing up the old floor. He found a very large crack in the concrete, and informed me that it would have to be "filled" before they could do anything else. So I desperately searched and got someone to come out the next day and fill the crack. That was day four, so two more delayed days. During this time, the house was in massive disarray, with floors half pulled up everywhere. It was very stressful and hazardous for my grandfather, and I did the best I could to make it safe. On the fifth day, now Friday, one installer returned to start working again. He took one look at the floor and insisted that they still could not do the floor. I was furious, since he told me just to fill the crack, and now he was saying that the floor had to be flat. He called the installation manager, and she just told me the same thing. They both said I would have to find a third party company to completely flatten the concrete before they would install the floor. The installer upset me so badly I had to ask him to leave. It is absolutely ridiculous that a flooring company would not have the ability to fix floor-related issues like this in the scope of the project. Surely they can't expect to only install floors in brand new homes with flawless foundations. It was disgustingly unprofessional. At this point, I'd had enough stress and frustration and told them they needed to have someone get ahold of me for a refund. I called both office numbers, and the main number, and no one would get back to me. I called the installer and he told me to call the office and hung up on me before I could tell him no one was answering. After someone finally contacted me, it was late in the evening and they told me they probably couldn't do anything until Monday. We had to have that refund so we could get another company that would actually do the work they had been paid to do. After a week of fighting with managers and corporate, we finally get the refund we should have had same-day. I never received any real answers to any of the questions I asked, or any answers as to why this nightmare happened in the first place. This is the kind of company that gives the good contractors a bad name. My wife saw an ad for free estimates and called to have them come by as we want to redo our floors. Sales guy comes in, off the bat tells us he's on commission and if he doesn't sell he doesn't eat or even get paid for gas. Then he asked for our budget and we honestly don't know which is why we wanted a contractor to give an estimate. He said 20k for porcelain tile to do just a hallway, living/kitchen and master bedroom, without even estimating. Then I asked about vinyl and he said the same price. Then he said he had to close the deal today or it's not worth his time to measure it out and the offer is no good. I told him either way I'd be talking to contractors and don't make 20k decisions without getting opinions. What kind of product and service (or scam) are you selling if you're afraid that other people will see your pricing? This guy used every scare tactic he could from materials and labor are going up every day, if we go with lower priced options or do it ourselves he'll be back in a year giving us an estimate, if we call a contractor they'll just pick up day laborers..etc. so didn't even get to measurements. These guys are the type that worry about lining their pockets not anything about the work you're getting. These are the people that like to prey on you once you trust them. There's way more honest contractors out there. This guy didn't even measure, never even did the work just a salesman. I couldn't even make this up it's the classic stereotype. This snake clearly was worried closing a number of 15-20k regardless of what he sold. I shopped full retail for materials and for my square footage would cost 6k retail. Lets say his product is almost double the cost of best vinyl tile I found you're telling me it's another 8k to install vinyl tile? Find a good contractor that's involved with the business. PS I work for a contractor just in a completely different trade, if I talked to people like this I would be instantly fired. Terrible experience! Had other estimates and was pressured to make a decision to go with them on the spot. The only reason I did agree to work with them is because they guaranteed one day installation. It was to put laminate wood plank flooring into one room in a rental unit which was completely empty, so they had no furniture to move either. Took a day off of work and the installers came, but had the wrong color flooring. Second time they came, completed the floor but had the wrong room dividers and no trim to fill in areas that had gaps, so there were gaps left in certain areas of the floor and one room had a broken room divider. Installers never gave me any paperwork, as they claimed they had to process the paperwork for the trim and new room divider. Three days later, I had to call them myself and in their system they had install complete, which was not the case. I had a good customer service representative to help me and put in a request that the installation was incomplete. I had to take a third day off from work, and the installer was kind and honest when he called that he was on his way and said they only provided him with one room divider no trim. They wouldn't authorize him to get the trim he needed to finish, so he had to come back the next day to finish which required me taking a 4th day off from work. When I called, I still don't have a copy of my contract with them, nor did they care about me taking 4 days off of work, and not being able to get renters to rent the place because I had no idea when they would finish. A quick one day install for one room took 3 weeks of going back and forth with them. When I spoke to the Manager all they cared about was if the install was complete nor that my job was becoming in jeopardy taking so many days off just to complete a floor that should have been completed in a day. I would not recommend them and wish I had gone with the other estimates I received. Horrible customer service. read more

We started down this terrible journey in December of 2021. I'll break it down to the into 3 categories... sales, installation, and after installation customer service. TLDR - High pressure deceptive sales, questionable product/service quality, and unresponsive/unhelpful customer service reps. Installing your own carpet without prior experience is probably a better option with less stress than dealing with this company. Sales: A salesman came to our house to give us a quote to replace all of the carpet in our house. The salesman, while claiming to be a no pressure salesman, was a pretty high pressure salesman. I should have taken that as a sign and looked elsewhere from the start. He said that if we didn't make the purchase while he was there that we would have to call them back and set up a new consultation and start from scratch. The price just seemed a bit high for what we were getting. We almost got to the point where I was just going to tell him to leave but then he started making some progress. He asks us what is holding us back. We tell him that it is the price. He brings out a new set of samples and we find one that we like. The price was lower but again, still seemed a bit high. He tells us that the carpet he is now showing us is the same quality as the original he showed but that they've had supply chain issues and was unsure if it was in stock. He then proceeds to say that he can give us an "employee discount" on it. He runs the numbers and now it is more in the expected price point. He also included an extended warranty at no extra charge. He specifically said that the warranty covered pet damage. He got as specific as saying that the carpet was designed for pets but if our dog managed to tear up the carpet anywhere, it would be covered. Before putting the deposit down, we asked him again that it includes both closets and all of the rooms. He said yes. Installation: The installers come and the first thing they did was walk around the house to and reference the documentation they were given. The first thing they noticed was that the master closet is as not included. They said that they didn't believe that they brought enough carpet for it but if they have enough left over, they would install it in the closet. If they didn't, we would have to call customer service to get it resolved. Well, they didn't have enough so they didn't install it. They were super nice but after they left, I noticed that every singe door stop was bent beyond repair or just completely broken off of the wall. I figured it was not a big deal and that I'd just replace them. After Installation Customer service: A day or two after the installation, our dog managed to rip up a small chunk of carpet under a door in less than 2 minutes (no exaggeration.) Our old carpet was probably 20 years old and our dog would scratch/dig there for 10+ min at a time and there was never any damage. This leads me to believe the carpet is either lower quality than they claimed OR they really didn't have enough carpet so they over stretched it to make the two rooms connect. The area in which the rip occurred was the last area that the installation crew installed which indicates they could have been running out and over stretched it. We have since caught our dog digging/scratching the carpet in other areas and there has been no damage done. We got our carpet installed the weekend before Christmas and we didn't have a chance to call them right away to schedule the consultation or have them repair the small spot that the dog ripped up until after Christmas. We called the day after Christmas just for the off chance that they were open and they were. We explain the situation and the representative was not very helpful. We were asking what we needed to do about setting up the consultation as well as we who we need to contact about the warranty. She kept saying she did not know or was not sure when we asked her questions. Then she proceeded get a bit of an attitude and eventually asked us what we want her to do because she didn't know what departments were actually open. We decide to take down a number and just call back about the warranty. We call again regarding the warrantee and are basically told it is covered and that they will get back to us. A few weeks go by and we have heard nothing. We call again... this rep says it isn't covered but she that she is new, will have to double check, and reach back out to us. They reach back out and tell us it isn't covered and want to schedule a consultation to replace the whole room on our dime. read more

I would like to recognize Jim Silva whom I worked with to replace our current wood floors, carpet, and tile. Jim came to our house 3 times to review our floor selection and ensure we were comfortable with our decision. What made working with Jim such a pleasure was his friendly, calm, no-pressure demeanor which made my wife and I extremely comfortable. Jim was very patient, answered all our 'dumb' questions and clarify the concerns we had. Even after we made a decision on what flooring to use, my wife was still uncertain if we made the right selection. My wife thought 'we can't bother Jim again to come over'. I do not recommend this company based on my experience. They did not show up on the scheduled installation day and did not call. I am having about 120 Sq. Ft. of Luxury Vinyl Planks installed and I live in Phoenix AZ. When I called them the National phone number has no control over the local office and the local office does not answer phone calls. When the appointment was rescheduled through the national number the installer did show up this time but did not have the materials needed for finishing the job. I did not want him to, nor did he recommend having him do what he could but leave the job incomplete, no telling if or when they would return. They also told me they addressed the issues with the sub-contractor. Thank you Socorro Lopez for your excellent customer service. My experience with our Sales Rep Larry was amazing. He was awesome and helped us with suggestions in picking our tile and carpeting. The installers for the tile were great! Efficient, quick, and good quality work. They cleaned up well after themselves. The carpet installers did a pretty good job on the installation itself. However we had requested and paid for extra people to move a large marble dining room table. They only had 2 people, which was not enough to move the table. This is an extremely heavy table. We reiterated that several times, even when I confirmed the appointment. The carpet installers kept telling us someone was coming to help, but I think they were calling their OWN friends and wanted US to pay an additional $100 cash. We refused. My husband (with a bad back) and pool guy ended up having to help move the table. The carpet installers damaged a column in my newly painted home. I contacted Empire and although they said they'd take care of getting it fixed for us. They required that I contacted and get THREE estimates for the repair. I personally can't take off work in order to meet three separate contractors and wait for them to arrive (over their 2-3 hour window of time they give you). I don't feel it's MY responsibility to have to take care of this. The cost of me missing work was more than the repair itself was going to cost, so I paid to have it done myself!! I decided to use this company because I thought we had used them before. I found out that was not the case a bit too late. Also I did not read the other reviews before starting work and that was probably a mistake too. The sales rep that came out was not exactly pushy but was a bit obnoxious and contradicted me on things I know are facts. But we needed to get the flooring replaced in our new house in a reasonable amount of time. The problems started on the first appointment. no one showed and I called their "help" line. the persons I spoke with throughout the day told me that the installers had a window of between 10am and 6pm. yes 6 PM. They reported they had called the installer several times and assured me they would show up. by 3pm I called again and they still insisted they might show up by 6pm. I asked if they were going to show up at 6pm AND work till 10pm? since I estimated it was at least 4 hours work. They did not show that day. The next morning I got a call (early) that they would be there in 30 minutes (I was 40 minutes away). seems they miscommunicated. because of other issues we had to divide this job up in to multiple appointments. subsequent appointments were on time. I found that calling the "help" line was pointless and called the sales rep with any issues. However on the last part of the job I could not get anyone to give me a date for the final install for 6 days. Each day I would call the rep the person who would call to get it scheduled then tell me someone would call. no one would call. this happened every day until the 6th day when the rep told me that they called up the schedulers and "ripped them a new one". The scheduler that called me acted like I was having a problem with the work that had been done. he scheduled me for the next day and I took it just to get everything finished. cons: absolutely horrible communications internally at the company. -1* help line is useless. -1* sales rep was hyper and a bit of a know-it-all. -1* scheduler was rude. -1* Pros: flooring and carpet was of the quality we ordered. The Rep was very helpful and nothing would have got done with out that person. +1* the installers were all contractors but did pretty good work. +1* I cannot speak for the prices as we did not have time to shop around.
