Terrible experience. I thought I was hiring professionals but got amateurs. I could have done a better job myself. Brian my sales guy showed me a sample that did not appear to match what was installed. I was told multiple times that 50% down was required prior to install. The contract states the remaining is payment is due once installation begins. It does not require payment to be collected prior to completion. But when the subcontractors arrived, they said job would not begin and would be cancelled if payment in full wasn't made. I didn't have payment available so I informed my sales guy that the job had been cancelled. He had told me and reassured me he would be my contact for any issues that arose and promised to make it right. But when I contacted him he said there was nothing he could do and said he would get the job cancelled. The contract which they don't let you review until after they collect your 50% payment has a 25% penalty if the contract is cancelled. Given that and the fact my renovation is waiting on these floors, I had no choice but to make it work rather than starting over with another company which would delay and increase my other expenses. I then had to rearrange my work schedule to go retrieve my payment method and contacted Empire directly since Brian hadn't responded (still hasn't) to my follow up text after we had talked. The installers then proceeded to install in amateur fashion. They didn't pull planks from different boxes to adequately mix in the lighter from darker planks as it is common for production batches to have variations in color. I now have large patches that are clearly darker than the surrounding area. They also cut several planks extremely short because they were too lazy and cheap to measure. The quarter round looks like a child installed it as it doesn't line up and the glue is visible. They chipped, scuffed and damaged my freshly painted walls in several areas. I was told by Brian that the job isn't complete until I sign off on it. When I met with the installer and relayed my concerns he said he would meet at my home with his manager the following morning at 9 AM and would call me with a solution. Yesterday I received no call. They over promised and under delivered on all fronts. Don't believe the "we've been in business 65 years" hype that the sales guy tells you. The least they could do is leave me a box of planks and quarter round so I can fix it myself. I will update if they fix any of this. But my confidence is low.

Awful experience with them. On the day of my installation, 6 people who barely spoke English showed up. Told my mom she didn't need to stay because they were working in every room. Got a call 45 mins later from the installation manager saying they couldn't put in my floors because of poor sub floor. But they also couldn't put my carpet back because it was ripped up. From every room. Called multiple times to speak with someone, never got a call back. Was finally told my order had been cancelled despite me never being told this. Now I'm stuck with concrete floors I can't walk barefoot on while I try and get flooring. Oh, and I NEVER got called back by the service rep or any supervisor. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB.

Empire Today flooring had scheduled an appointment to come out and bid on a big flooring project. The time windows was Sunday 1/19 from 1-3. My adage is if you're not early then your late. They didn't show up at all and had my phone # to call in case there was an emergency. I will not be having this company bid my flooring.

From the first conversation to the final walk-through, every member of their team was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. They made what could have been a stressful project feel easy, and they always showed up with a positive attitude (and a good sense of humor). I'm glad I made a decision to go to the Caseyville Home Show and met these folks. We ran into a few challenges along the way (this is an almost 100 year old house with original floors). They worked with me every step of the way to find solutions and make sure everything turned out right. That level of customer service is hard to find these days. The craftsmanship is outstanding. The attention to detail is obvious, and the finished floors look absolutely incredible, and the price was very reasonable. I couldn't be happier with the final result. It's also refreshing to support a family-owned business that clearly takes pride in its work and treats customers like people, not just another job. I recommend Luminous Flooring without hesitation. If you're comparing flooring companies, you can stop now -- these are your people.

As a Consumer that loves to support local and/or small businesses I wish I had patronized a Big Box Store for this small project and accepted a quote that would have been twice as much, but at least I would have been able to open and close the Front door and have closet doors that were actually able to open and close after the flooring job was complete!! They do not agree that after a flooring job has been complete that a customer should Assume that their doors, including the FRONT door will open and close! This is one of those situations where one person (let's call him Terry) knows that his employee (Humm let's call him Jeff) did not write a Bid correctly and then outsourced the Labor to a company that is not equipped to do the job!! Don't let the "SALE" price persuade you because they do not include or expect for a job to be complete. Terry actually said "well it doesn't say the doors will open" WTF! Terry originally verbally agreed that Jeff should have known that the new carpet would need a different installer! I didn't hire the outscourced company! I used the Yelp project assistant feature and after a short while, I received contact from Ron, via the Key Carpet Yelp business page. Ron quickly filled me in regarding his 45 years experience in carpeting repair and then reviewed some photos I sent him to get a better picture of my situation. Ron quoted me $400 for the job, using the extra carpeting material I had on hand and offered to come the very next day, Friday mid morning. Ron gave me several assurances he'd handle whatever situation was present and not to give it any more worry. I appreciated his confidence and stated flexibility regarding the job conditions and his intention to just get it done. Ron is old school and not a Prima-donna. On a prompt arrival, Ron and his helper Brayson moved our kids bed out of the way, tore out the old carpeting, filthy tack strips, and treated the area with an odor neutralizer before jumping into the installation. The whole job took almost exactly 3 hours from arrival to departure. Ron & Brayson were true beasts in knocking out the job! I'm currently unclear whether this was a referral from Key Carpet to Lenderman Flooring, or Key Carpet employees themselves... but I'm a satisfied customer either way.

While the company was easy to communicate with prior to the work being done we had a huge hiccup during the actual work. While planning to sell our home we were also in the process of moving 4,500 miles away. We had multiple businesses coming to our home on certain days to do their specific jobs (cleaning, staging, photographing, open house etc). I was told several times exactly how long the installation of the carpeting should take and based all other appointments on what I had been told. While on a trip I received a call telling me the installation would take another few days, which was simply unacceptable. Thankfully, Key Carpet was able to pull employees from another job to finish ours on time. This whole process caused an extreme amount of stress and headaches. While we were happy with how the new carpeting looked, it was definitely not the smoothest process.

They showed years of deferred maintenance, damage from the previous owners' pets, and a few footprints from their DIY refinishing job-gone-wrong. After speaking with a few companies, we were skeptical of whether we'd be able to bring these old floors back to life. When we met Jim at Abeln Floor Systems, we instantly saw that he was passionate about restoration. His expertise is unparalleled and we knew he was the right person for this job. Jim also had an inventory that would help us repair a few tricky areas that required special attention and odd-sized boards. We kicked off the job by doing a walkthrough with both Jim and his crew member Kenny. This ensured we had a shared expectation of outcomes and gave us all the opportunity to flag any areas of concern before the work started. Throughout the process, both Jim and Kenny were incredibly transparent and proactive with their communications; we received a daily check in call to share updates, ask questions, and confirm we were satisfied with the work so far. I couldn't imagine a better outcome and my biggest regret is that we didn't do this project sooner. I mean, look at the pictures!! The floors are immaculate and have made such a significant impact in restoring this home's character. Which, of course when we moved in one of our dogs promptly decided to use as a bathroom whenever she wanted. The carpet didn't look great, didn't smell great, collects dust all that bad stuff. Plus, it just didn't match the rest of the house. Jim was able to come in here and start on Tuesday and by Saturday the floors were ready and we could move the furniture back in. The finished product looks amazing and they were just a really good group of people to work with. If you're going to have somebody in your home for a few days in a row it definitely helps to have friendly and trustworthy people. I would highly recommend him to anybody.
