I had a ton of work travel this summer, and ended up getting several rides in a few different cities with EmpireCLS. I guess corporate headquarters is in Secaucus, NJ, but the company has drivers all over the world. The Yelp reviews suggest both a concerning work culture and poor service for paying customers. I can only speak to my experience, though, which is that of a middle-aged mom getting comfortable rides in luxury cars, all arranged and paid for by other parties. Whatever aggravations may have arisen were not mine to endure. I had several drivers running me to and from LAX and JFK, as well as on the ground in New York, and from Los Angeles to San Diego and back. They were unfailingly polite and professional, and the one driver I ended up talking to for a long stretch--a mostly retired grandfather--was super personable with a fascinating life story. I would encourage EmpireCLS to pay these drivers what they deserve. They're definitely bringing more to the table than the average Uber driver, and Uber drivers don't have to spend all day in formal attire. The cars were all sparkling clean luxury cars with plentiful leg room. Like I would never personally buy a Cadillac Escalade, but it's the car I'd want if I were always sitting in the back seat. The little water bottles and charging cables were nice too. My one gripe is that the pick-up times were aggressively early, and I had to be vigilant about changing them if I didn't want to sit around at the airport for two hours. The company was willing to adjust as long as I took responsibility if I missed a flight, which, fair enough, it's not like I've never done that before. It seemed like the drivers were always at least 15 early no matter what time the scheduled pick-up, and I felt bad leaving them to idle while I wrapped up my packing. They never complained, though, and it seemed like this was just part of their service. I got kind of used to the car service life, and it was a bit of a rough reentry the first time I landed at LAX and had to LAX-it instead of meeting a friendly driver at baggage claim. I'm not planning to make the upgrade for personal travel, but I'll be glad any time I get to ride with EmpireCLS. read more

I have been an Empire client for more than 20 years, and I have consistently found their service to be of the highest quality. One issue I've had recently is the following: I always request a curbside pickup at the airport, which means the driver does not need to park, and thus I should not be charged for parking. Apparently, agents are not permitted to delete the parking charge at the time of booking. This then requires me to call Empire after the trip, and ask them to remove the charge. Further, I must then monitor my credit card bill to ensure that this has been done. This is burdensome and time-consuming, and I wish there were some way to lessen the burden on the client to ensure proper billing. On the positive side, I would like to commend two agents who were extremely polite, courteous, and thoroughly professional, and who resolved a recent incorrect "wait time" charge. I first contacted Samantha, whose records showed the driver who picked me up at the airport waited 45 minutes between the time I deplaned and the time I reached the car, which was not the case. Samantha said she would investigate and that Empire would get back to me. The very next day I received a call from Brianna in Customer Care, who indicated that the wait charge was an error on Empire's part, and that I would receive a credit. When I raised the issue of incorrect parking charges, she said she would review all of my 2025 trips to ensure that I was not charged for parking. I have used Empire on multiple occasions to take me to and from the airport. They do not disappoint. They are punctual by always arriving at least 15 minutes before my scheduled pick up. The cars are always clean, great condition and stocked with water! The drivers have always been nice, helpful and safe. We don't trust many to drive our kids. I will continue to pay and use Empire knowing the service I will receive is always above average and my kids are safe. read more

Now I see why my manager ALWAYS wants to use Empire CLS during his trips to NY/NJ. They are amazing! I'm no fancy pants and I usually drive myself everywhere or take taxis, but after being in one of their cars - well, I wish I could always afford to travel like that. My driver was waiting at EWR baggage claim for me, he was easy to spot because he was holding a sign with my last name on it. I wish I could remember his name because he was very sweet and got me to my hotel quickly and safely. The Lincoln Towncar was gorgeous, clean, black leather interior, water bottle and tissue (I had the sniffles, so this was important). The driver and I were chatting during the drive and he was kind enough to give me somewhat of a 'tour' by pointing out some cool landmarks and giving me some history of the city. We had contracted 10 different cars for this business trip and Damon was SUPER helpful the entire time. He provided his work and cell number in case anything came up. Thank goodness he did because a storm rolled in (10.29.11) and it caused my team to freak out! Everyone wanted a car to somewhere! The entire city needed a ride because I call two other car service companies and they were booked solid due to the snow storm. Damon was able to secure the cars we needed and get everyone to their destination. If I'm on a business trip, I'm using Empire CLS. It's one of those things you should splurge on at least once. read more

Unreliable company. I booked a car through my Amex Plat concierge. It was an emergency pick up from the airport given a ton of delays on Christmas Eve. They charged $400 for the trip, but I figured it was worth it to get a family member home when no other services were available. Literally 5 minutes before the pickup was scheduled they cancelled the trip. I could have gone with a different company if I had known they weren't going to be able to complete the service. There is pretty much nothing I can do right now and we're scrambling to trip and get airport pickup. Insane. I'll be letting Amex know and will literally never use this company again. read more

Family trip required a car to/from JFK. Driver was outside and waiting for us. Helped with our bags and had two booster seats for our kids. After years of using ride hailing apps, you forget how relaxing it can be to have a driver who is focused on transporting you to the airport safely and not about dropping you off so they can pick-up their next fare. On the way home, the driver was waiting at baggage claim with a clear sign. Waited with us until the bags came out and helped us get to the car. Again we had booster seats for our kids so I was super happy that they would be buckled in more appropriately. In both directions, we booked a Cadillac Escalade. The vehicle was clean and came with amenities such as Wi-Fi, bottled water, etc. Will definitely book again. read more

WORST car experience ever! We waited for over one hour in the rain at the spot the driver asked us to meet. Every time we called the driver, he either said he was one block away or stuck in the traffics. It was 12am at night and it was a very accessible spot in the city where we were waiting for the car and it was clear that there was no traffic. The driver was clearly bullshitting us. This review like most of the others is for Empire CLS (empirecls.com). Pick up and ride experience was flawless and the car was clean and the model as advertised. Based on that I would give the company 5 stars. However, I got overcharged on two accounts: 1. The driver showed up at the airport 90 minutes earlier than the requested time on the reservation. Sure enough they charged me for his mistake. After some discussion I am getting a refund. 2. I booked an hourly rate all taxes, tips and fees included. It turns out that hourly rates are charged garage to garage and not pickup to drop off time. Unfortunately this was never explained to me and can only be found in the fine print of a reservation. Thus I got hit with an extra 2.5 hours. In total I got overcharged almost $500. Avoid this company at all cost.. literally. read more

I have used Empire CLS thru my company KPMG and find their drivers to be rude and unprofessional, the last driver that picked me up from JFK airport SMELLED and got stuck in traffic even after I told him to take an alternate route. Plus the drivers never help me with my luggage and are always late to pick me up at JfK and LaGuardia airports. If my employer wasn't paying for this car service I would never use them ! Biggest rip-out and misquote I have every encountered. Quoted me $54 per hour, minimum of 2 hours. I was home in one hour and then came a bill for over $180. They didn't quote all of the "extras" even when I presented them with a written confirmation. Extremely poor experience with EmpireCLS, and will not be booking with them again. There is a huge communication problem within the corporation, and getting in touch with the proper contacts to resolve an issue is like pulling teeth. I was given many different receipts reflecting different "final costs", only to have an even higher cost actually charged a week after the car service was used. One of my reservations (I booked several) wound up being $500 more than originally estimated because a car service was changed without any authorization from myself, the cardholder. And upon calling to complain and find a resolution, only one of the many customer service reps I spoke to was kind and apologetic in tone - even though a refund was not offered or available. Ridiculous. Beware of "hidden" policies, misleading charges and atrocious customer service. I've used many different car service companies in the last 3 years, as they are often needed in my industry (Events). I have never, ever experienced unprofessionalism to this level, and will be avoiding them at all costs in the future. read more

Took this car service from EWR this morning after a red eye, and won't be doing so again. The car was nice, but here are the disappointments I encountered: 1. We paid extra for the driver to meet me in baggage claim with a sign. Apparently he left me a message about picking me up curbside because the parking lot was so full. Why should this have been my issue? We paid for this service, so isn't it his responsibility to figure out parking? I wanted the driver to meet me in baggage claim SPECIFICALLY for the reason that I didn't want curbside pickup!!!! 2. The first contact with the driver was in baggage claim (he walked in a couple minutes after I had already arrived there) and he immediately commented on me not calling him back. He did not ask me how my flight was, did not smile and instead seemed annoyed that I hadn't checked my voicemails after a red eye. 3. He was actually pleasant during the ride because he didn't talk to me. The only time he did was when he apologized for taking the route with more traffic. I thought this was nice until he told me I should next time tell me driver to take an alternative route that has less traffic.....he's the PROFESSIONAL DRIVER, shouldn't he know which routes to take? This shouldn't be my job. 4. Dropped me off with my bag ( he did carry it to my door a few feet) but didn't say "thank you" or "have a nice day". I'm the one who said those things and he just replied "ok". Overall this was VERY disappointing for a service that is supposed to be very professional, high class and unique. It was no better than a cab, which is what I'll absolutely be taking next time. I don't think the driver meant to give me such a bad experience, but nevertheless he did. I booked with Empire CLS through the American Express Surpass website and was quoted a price of $94. My e-mail reservation confirmation incuded that number as an "estimated total" price. (As an aside, I had received two other quotes for the same trip in the $150-$200 range, so with my Amex discount, this seemed like a reasonable price). Approximately a week prior to our departure, I went to the Empire CLS website to cancel. Apparently, unbeknown to me, my cancellation was not completed in their system and a car and driver appeared at my house a week later. Having never used their service before, I was unaware that I needed a cancellation number. When an Empire representative called me about the mixup, I explained the situation and was told not to worry and that it wasn't my fault. Apparently it was my fault, as my credit card was charged twice for $383.00 each. After multiple phone calls and e-mails with Empire representatives, I was informed that, had I taken the car to the airport, my charge would have been $383.00 and that the $94 quote on the confirmation was an "estimate." Now, I'm not a mathematician, but I don't think that an estimate should result in a charge nearly 4 times the estimated price. I feel that this was bait and switch on their part and that the fact that the cancellation on the website was not completed was likely the fault of their website. I have offered to pay the $94 I was quoted, but that offer has been rejected and they are insisting on payment of $275. I'm a little shocked that American Express would recommend a service with such questionable business practices as this. I e-mailed their CEO and received was was apparently an auto response, as it promised that he would investigate the issue and get back to me by close of business the next day. Over a week later, I have yet to hear from him. It doesn't surprise me. This company clearly doesn't care about customer service at all. If I could give no stars, I would. read more

I was given a quote from NY to Sayville (approx a 2 hour drive) for a stretch limo at an hourly rate. While they did state that drive back time to garage was included, I had assumed through our phone conversation that the quote I was given included this time and that the "total estimated cost" for my trip would take this into account. They obviously realized their mistake when I got a corrected quote an hour later for twice as much, but by this time I wasn't checking email as I had other business to attend to. While I understand that this is something that was mentioned in our phone conversation I at least expected a phone call once they realized the quote was off by such a significant factor. Customer service was unwilling to work with me to come to some middle point after the fact, considering the significant error made on both sides. While I felt the service was good both on the customer service and driver side fo things, I would have appreciated a little more clarity in the quoting service as and interest in keeping me as a future customer. Giving them 3 stars rather than 2 because I did feel it was an error on both sides, but double check those numbers your quote may not include! read more

Best car service around! The chauffeur picked us up in the snow on time when we had to be at the airport at 530am. Got us to the airport on time during hazardous road conditions. He was very professional and prompt. When getting picked up from the airport, the next chauffeur was just as great. I highly recommend this service to anyone that needs a car to get to and from where they are going! I will always use ECLS! Cars are very clean and the bottles of water are a great touch. Anyone who doesn't use this company for transportation, has no idea what they're missing out on! The drivers always ask which route I prefer, which most companies don't do that and that's annoying. MY LIMO RENTAL WITH EMPIRECLS NY, FOR A TRIP FROM ROME TO NAPLES-italy facts: i told the company that my arrival time is 11.00 am in rome-they changed it to 9.am,because of flights info's from aa.my experience with arrivals-mostly overseas:they are late. sure my flight was 3 hours delayed. fact is,that their estimated cost was $ 480.00 - i got an invoice for $ 885.00 incl.tip of $ 118.50 would it be nice that the driver would have told me -tip is incl.?? nothing so i gave him $ 100.00 in cash. how you come up with 7.5 hours ( $ 79.00 p/h) total $ 592.50. where the hell the diver spent this time? here is the catch -when you look at the very ,very fine print below the estimate numbers-you will see that they charge you the moment the car is leaving the garage where ever that is- .it says also that the tip is negotiable and can be waived at any time.but cls put it right on the estimate.plus the best one is the administration fee is "related to the invoice" -meaning it goes up percentually- never heard about something like this. and one more thing: the driver told us in 2.5 hours you are in naples!! but in the end it was a total of 7.5 hours. so before you book with cls rfead the very small print,beause you will end up with almost the double of the estimate. this company is a screwup!! read more

*****STAY AWAY From this Service******I used this service for nearly 3 years, services was mediocore but finally what really drove for me to sign-up to yelp just to post this is the complete lack of repeat customer appreciation and ridculous system. For the last six months I used them twice a week for aiport service, never an issue. This past thursday I had two reports of alleged no-shows with claim on the last no show that I the ( customer gave them wrong fligh number). Although they sent me an email with flight number they looked up and received both ridiculous challenge that I gave the wrong number. Indicating they dont give numbers but then stating they realized the filght was incorrect and sent me a voicemail. So first they don't do but then they do. It was completely absurd. My ordeal ended in me taking a yellow cab from the airport, being treated without any customer focus or service from Empire CLS. I am now moving to Jersey Limo and will find every post I can to share my experience to warn against a Empire CLS service that cares nothing for you loyalty and/or shows no understanding of customer service. FYI, Fare comparion you will find they also charge higher rates. So perhaps I should thank them! read more
