Alright, so I'm def feeling the vibe. I walked in on a cold day and immediately felt at peace to be in a warm, cozy, not-super-loud lil' spot to ride out the wait until my friend was done running an errand nearby and we could reunite. The person at the front counter was nice enough and gave me (Queen of Indecision) time and space to try to figure out what I wanted. (Wasted time really; I ended up clutching a black coffee as I usually do.) For a few seconds I contemplated getting something to eat, too, but I couldn't decide between food and coffee and I can't do both at the same time--so caffeine won. (As it usually does.) Alright, now let's break down the brew -- which is where the true breakdown began for me. The coffee just isn't that good. I couldn't tell if it had been burnt or wasn't hugged enough as a child but it was bitter as all get-out! I definitely think that the flavor left a lot to be desired, but again, it could've just been burnt brew, because it's pretty implausible to me that a coffee shop would survive too long without having decent coffee, of all things. After opening my food I notice there are onions on my order even though I specifically under notes state no onions since I'm allergic. Ambiance the greeting in the entry and out i been there three times back to back and got the same energy bland

We've been here a couple of times now. It's a very quaint little coffee shop. It's always full, lots of people hanging out with laptops. We like their bagels, and their coffee drinks taste really good. They even make artistic designs in the latte's. It's bright and clean, and not too loud. I do wish that they used thermometers for the coffee drinks though, because they come so hot that you have to wait a good while to drink them, and you'll end up finishing your bagel or pastry without even a sip, and then you'll still be waiting for it to be a drinkable temperature. I was a little bit taken aback by this aspect. They have some original art for sale in the back near the restroom, which is kinda cool. read more

I prefer supporting a local business over a multi-national conglomerate, and I want to like this coffee shop, but each time I visit, I'm disappointed. The staff looks so depressed and annoyed to be there. There is so much potential to be labeled as "cozy" or "homey," but instead, it comes off as "cold." This is a small store, and when entering, you are about 10 feet from the barista and cashier. Common courtesy would be to say "Welcome" or "Good Morning" when looking up. Instead, employees look at you, make eye contact, and ignore you. It's an awkward five-minute wait for someone to come up to the register and take your order; when they do, it's a robotic "what can I get you?" and a radiating vibe that you are inconveniencing them. Don't expect a smile or "thank you" at any point. I order a simple hot Mocha; it's overpriced and nothing to brag about. Don't worry about burning yourself or needing the drink to cool down; mine has always been served lukewarm. A few of their sandwiches sound interesting, but I have not ventured there since this "coffee house" has not impressed me with their coffee drinks. The pastries in their display cabinet look very similar to Costco's pastries. First, he gave me great recommendations for smoothie choices. I tried the Fruity Flamingo Smoothie and it was refreshingly flavorful. I've been coming to Empresso for a while (since they had their second location before too), and their dirty chai lattes always are my favorite! Not only in Stockton, but most cafes. I no longer live in the area, but every time I visit, I'm always stopping my Empresso for my dirty chai. Today, I got one of their new/perhaps limited drinks called Strawberry Field (a strawberry matcha with vanilla) and while it was good, it could've used just a tad bit more vanilla syrup (I also have a smooth tooth). Overall, I love coming here for my daily coffee(s) and sometimes work dates (if you're lucky enough to grab a seat, they're typically busy). I used to love this place. My orders were always made correctly, but lately, that is not the case. My last 3 orders were made wrong. The first, I ordered Avocado Toast on a cheese bagel with onion and turkey. I received avocado, swiss cheese, turkey, and onion on bread that had been toasted, but was now soggy. I received no call to say they were out of cheese bagels and could they make it this way instead. The second, I ordered a Turkey and Egg Breakfast Sandwich on a cheese bagel with pepper jack cheese and added onion. There was no turkey on my sandwich and it was ice cold. The third, which just happened today, I again ordered Avocado Toast on a cheese bagel with onion and turkey. I got what I ordered, but also not what I ordered. First, they used a jalapeno cheese bagel, which I definitely did not want so I had to pick all of the jalapenos off and hope the flavor was not still on the bagel. Then there was so little avocado it could not be considered avocado toast. There was very little turkey on it as well. My drink was made correctly on the first two, but this one was wrong. I ordered a Salted Caramel Latte and received a regular Caramel Latte. There are different syrups used for each kind so I could tell a difference right away. I ordered all 3 times through Grubhub, but that shouldn't make a difference in getting a correct order.
