Who knew this German restaurant out on Waterloo would be so good?? Our server, Mia, was great. She was friendly, attentive, and honest and we really appreciated it. The environment was great. We sat outside and had dinner in the beer garden area and it was really comfortable and inviting. All of our food was fresh and made in house. The flavors were delicious. We had the chicken cordon bleu, the schnitzel, the little potato things, sauerkraut, potato salad, and cucumber salad. All of it was great. Just an over all great experience. Word of advice, if authenticity is important to you, the desserts are shipped in. They aren't made here. So be aware. Parking was easy. They are busy so you want to account for that. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again!

From the moment we walked in, the staff was so welcoming and friendly. We came here on a busy Saturday night, so the only seating available was outside. They have outdoor heaters and they even said they could provide us with blankets. We didn't need the blankets but I thought this was amazing customer service. When it came to ordering, the server was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. I ordered the potato pancakes as an appetizer and the chicken cordon bleu as my entre. The cordon bleu was really tasty, would definitely order again. I also ordered a green salad and spätzle. I enjoyed the freshness of the salad but the noodles were a bit bland for my taste. For dessert we went with the apple strudel, which was warmed up. Great way to end our meal. This was my first time at this restaurant and it definitely won't be my last. I can understand why it has so many great reviews.

We found this restaurant on Instagram, after loving a similar place in Lake Tahoe. We loved everything about it. The service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. The food was great. My wife loved the pretzel. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed everything in the sampler platter. The meatballs and currywurst were our favorites, but the potato pancakes were also fantastic. The sauces are incredible and I love their Spaetzle. The decor is cozy and there is good seating without feeling crowded. The beer garden outside looks fun, so we'll try that next time. (We also need to come back to try the strudel- it looks so good)

Met friends for beer and the Wednesday schnitzel special. This is a good deal, any schnitzel plate which, concludes two sides of your choice for $15 The Hubbs got the barbecue schnitzel, which is a sweet barbecue sauce topped with sautéed red onions. I got the Hollan chili schnitzel, which is topped with hollandaise sauce and chili. At the recommendation of the server, I got the potato croquettes to dip in the chili hollandaise sauce along with spaetzel. My schnitzel was cooked perfectly, not too much breading and not oily. The potato croquettes were crunchy on the outside with creamy potatoes on the inside and also not oily. The only blah item was my spaetzel which I was looking forward to, but it was served cold and plain. I tried adding fresh lemon and then ended up asking for Hunter sauce, which is a brown gravy and mushrooms to go on top of the spaetzel. I really liked the sauerkraut which is served warm and is not overly tangy. Glad we went back, the hubs enjoyed his boot of beer, and we both felt the food was much better this time around.

Authentic German food with German beer. Delicious schnitzels and authentic Leberkäse (aka meatloaf). Many delicious sides including bigos. Surpringly good green salad for thus time of year (March). Very tasty deconstructed Black Forest cake for dessert. The friendliest servers and hostess we've had in a long time. If parking lot is full, park along two-lane blacktop on other side.

Red.cabbage, Berlin schnitzel, gypsy schnitzel and sauerkraut

We ate at German Guys for the first time this evening. Staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered pretzel for starters then schnitzel for dinner, one with gypsy mushroom gravy and the other with Berlin sauce. Both were delicious accompanied by sauerkraut, red cabbage, beet salad and potato croquets. All washed down with lovely german beer. Will definitely be going back again to try other options. Bought black forest cake home to try!

Some time back, I had read an article in the Sacramento Bee, that Yelp had listed this place as one of the top six German restaurants in the country! Yet I had never come in. Well today, I was in Stockton, so I decided to stop in for lunch. The place is a few miles east of Stockton, on Highway 88. A little touch of Germany out amongst the farmland.... I come in, and was immediately greeted by Tiffany. Throughout my entire meal, she was very friendly and very helpful. I'm seated at my table, and since it was lunchtime, I got the lunch menu. It has to be pork schnitzel, of course! For my sauce, I was interested in the curry sauce. I know German curries can be very spicy, so I asked Tiffany, and she said no, it has just a tiny kick to it. So that's what I ordered. For my sides, I had the Spetzle, hunter style, with a mushroom sauce on top. For my other side, The bigos sounded interesting . I had never heard of it before. Warm sauerkraut, in a tomato sauce, with sausage and bacon. I'm sure the German beer is extremely good, but I retired from drinking sometime ago, so instead I just had a soda. The food comes quickly, and OMG, it was amazing! The schnitzel was absolutely delicious, it was not over breaded, and it was very tender. The curry sauce was amazing. It was not too rich, and it was perfect for the schnitzel. The tomatoes on top provided a wonderful pop of freshness. The. Spetzle, was perfectly done, and the mushroom sauce on top was so amazingly savory. And the. Bigos? As good. As everything else was, that was definitely the star of the show. The sauerkraut didn't overpower the sauce, and while the sauce was rich, the sauerkraut kept it from being too rich. The sauerkraut and the sauce played so absolutely wonderful together. That is a side I would have again, and again, and again. I finished the schnitzel and bigos, and some of my. Spetzle with the sauce, came home with me. It reheated extremely well.. For this amazing lunch with soda, it was only 20 bucks before tax and tip. An extremely reasonable price, for an absolutely amazing meal. I will absolutely definitely be back. Thank you so much

When we heard about this place, we had to take a drive and test it out. Upon arrival, we were very happy because it seems like we were in a little Germany. We had schnitzel and spaetzle, and some sausage and sauerkraut for hors d'oeuvre. They also have some German beer on tap as well as other beers to enjoy in a bottle The food was very tasty quite authentic for being in the central valley of California. Next time you're driving through, you need to give it a try.

One our group greatly enjoyed his brew.

Whaaaat? I have lived 45 mins from this place had NO idea this gem was so close! It opened in 2019 and has escaped my notice. I last had authentic German food way back in Germany in 1976, and was looking forward to it again when my wife and I take a river cruise there in 2027. That said, tonight I had the wonderful pleasure of experiencing the German Guys' way of doing business. The ambiance was an interesting mix of Bauhaus (where ladies carry massive mugs of beer) and Central Valley out in the country. Loved it! The service was fantastic, the meal was spot on (with the possible exception that my meatballs were room temp, I don't usually notice such things but there it is). Sauerkraut was delicious and the beets flavorful. I appreciated the availability of a cider (not a beer drinker) which was worth a repeat visit. I tossed them a bit of a curve with a request from my wife via text for some sausages. A fair price, a fair portion, and the transaction was smooth as I could ask for. To sum it up, great place, great people, WELL worth the drive east of Stockton.

Ambiance is great in their outdoor patio. They have floating canvas to provide shade & nice big tables. Service is great. Got the sampler for 4. The meatballs are delicious & tender. Schnitzel was crispy. Currywurst was good as was the other sausage. Love the hunter gravy & my friends liked the other gravy too. Got the bigos, potato salad, red cabbage & sauerkraut. Not fond of the potato salad but the other sides are good. My biggest complaint is that the potato pancakes were dense & room temperature, not hot & crispy. Next time I need to try the pretzel! This is a great place. Drop by & try them. You won't regret it!

Food - Effing great and authentic. And I was never into German food. Service - Super helpful Ambience - Cozy and warm

Sunday March 23, 2025, Me and my husband family went here because they never had it before. We were greeted by our waiter Vanessa. She was very professional knowledgeable of what they serve there. The food was an 5/5 my mother in law said she never had anything good like this place mind you she travel all over the world and she loves this place. We found out the owner (Mom) was there cooking all of our food. I would recommend this place if you never try it you should try it it's very good we will be coming back to try different dishes. The menu lists Cheese cake, it doesn't say German cheesecake. It's cheesecake topped with a thin layer of lemon. It was very good.

Is the restaurant pet friendly? I see they have a patio.

I didn't ask although they have a patio and is very normal in Germany to eat outdoors with your pet. The patio is accessible from the outside. I would call them to verify.

    Yes

You enter without truly knowing where to go or what to do, so be observant as there may be an actual line to order drinks and food, just don't cut someone off. Ordering was easy. Same window for beer and food. If you order food you're given a number that people deliver food. Came here for happy hour. I got myself a pretzel with add-on cheese, a pulled pork (seasonal) Belgie with fries, and I sampled other food that my friends ordered. Firstly, the 1L beer is worth it. Not happy hour prices., but well worth the volume. It definitely transported me back to my visit to Munich and the beer halls. Oh, I do miss the drunken singing of the Germans lol Secondly, the food was just okay. Pretzels were thankfully cheaper since it was happy hour but i paid $1 for the add-on cheese. The mustard combo sauce was great. I wish the pretzel was a bit bigger. I appreciated the warmth and the salt ratio; not overpowering. The Belgie (waffle sandwich) was also on happy hour. The texture of the waffle was great. Crisp exterior, soft interior. I ordered the seasonal pulled pork which was great in texture and decently portioned. It is a thick boy, so biting into it was a bit of a challenge. Ended up deconstructing the sandwich and used utensils. Sauce maybe would've been better on the side. Fries always win. No complaints though I wish I ordered the garlic fries... the smell was good. One thing I didn't get to try was their famous, Starbust drink which is a mix of beer, cider and some frosty, maybe. The color was intriguing and everyone seemed to order it around me. The misters were on, which was a blessing and a curse. Definitely helped cool me down, but also became a nuisance as the table and all my belongings got wet. Excited for their new location in Old Sac. Maybe a revised review in the future. Stay tuned.

I was recommended to try the pork schnitzel by my friend and it did not disappoint. I got my sandwich with a side salad. We also ordered the deviled eggs to share. My friend has never had the deviled eggs before and pleasantly surprised and delighted that the eggs were absolutely delicious. They're very smooth, eggs were cooked perfectly and the touch of bacon was just right. It does come with a small helping of mixed greens topped with pickled onions. The pork schnitzel was crispy & crunchy due to the breaded pork loin, came with pickled onions, slaw and the chipotle aioli sauce. The sauce does have a bit of a kick to it but it wasn't too spicy, well, at least for me. My salad was very good too. It was colorful and had an interestingly tangy dressing on it. It paired well with the sandwich. One was spicy and the salad was tangy but refreshing. My friend also ordered the pork schnitzel with beef tallow fries. I tried some of her fries and they were thin but still crispy. Overall the food at West Oak Nosh was so good and delicious! I politely asked if I could exchange it for a different drink. The waiter returned and said the manager wouldn't allow an exchange but would offer me 50% off instead. I explained that I wasn't happy with the drink and simply wanted to order something else. The manager came over and explained that the menu includes a disclaimer stating the cocktails are made with soju instead of the traditional liquor. In my opinion, the waiter should have mentioned that when I ordered, especially since it significantly changes the flavor. I hadn't noticed the disclaimer--I simply ordered what I thought would be a classic Piña Colada. Unfortunately, I was still charged half the price for a drink I didn't enjoy and wasn't allowed to order a replacement. The manager emphasized that it was too expensive for the restaurant to remake drinks, which I found disappointing. I've never had an experience like this at any other restaurant. On a positive note, I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries, and it was delicious. That was the highlight of the meal. However, the service was also lacking. Our waiter was slow and couldn't answer several of our questions without repeatedly leaving to ask someone else. Because of the poor customer service and how the drink situation was handled, I won't be returning.

The soup for the day was chicken noodle, so I went for that this time. Czech 'Svitchkova': This was exactly as I remembered it. I noticed from last time I got three pieces instead of two. The sauce is what made this dish for me. The meat was tough like I remembered it. The spetzel was deliciously cooked and the special berry compote was tart. Overall, I enjoyed this dish. My soup was a bit on the cold side though, so it was not as appealing to me. Still, happy to come back here again and enjoy my German fixings. Wishing the best for all the workers here.

We had the Jagerschnitzel and the Bratwurst dinners. The portions were huge and we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. They give you two very large pieces of Jagerschnitzel, which is breaded pork with mushroom gravy. The sides are what you would expect in a German restaurant - spaetzel, purple cabbage and a potato dish, often potato salad. The service was excellent and parking is ample in their own lot.

I've come multiple times, solo, and with friends, and I've never had a bad experience. The service has always been consistent in the way that this establishment always take care of their guests. Every guest around you is always having a good time. This is a key component that you want to experience in a restaurant setting. Masha took care of me today (and multiple other customers at the same time.) I observed and received nothing short of what is expected in a restaurant setting in Mountain View on Castro Street: Quality service, and great suggestions. I think guests sometimes overlook the novelty of being able to enjoy your time in the establishment you choose to dine at. Folks seem to be in such a rush these days. It's nice to slow down and enjoy the sunshine and hustle/bustle of the world around while enjoying a quality meal and some sunshine or indoors while letting the wind sweep your table top. P.s. if you ever have some issues with your experience--talk to the staff. Don't leave a low quality yelp review. It doesn't help anything besides, perhaps, one's self esteem.
