We made our first visit here to this newly reimagined bar & restaurant in an older reclaimed block across the Green Island Bridge into Troy. This is a mix of older (Brown's Brewing Co., Ryan's Wake) and newer like theTroy Beer Garden. We were here on Sat. 5/13/23 at 5pm for Happy Hour. We were greeted by "Server: Bartender B" who explained their Happy Hour drink & app specials, took our drink orders and brought water & menus. The Happy Hour is only at the bar side of the beer garden. HH is Tue-Sat 4-6pm. The HH specials are $5 house beer, wine, or mixed drink w/ each HH app order. Nice! We opted for for the regular menu so wine was $8.ea & local craft draft beer $7.ea - still a good value. Dinner was a Beer Garden Chopped salad ($15) and catfish tacos ($16). Both good & fresh, just the right size. Next time we are going to try their unique pizza offerings. There is indoor & outdoor seating. There is the Berlin Room upstairs for parties & events. Two things made an immediate impression - all female staff serving team style and there are potted plants everywhere giving the space a tropical feel. Parlor plush seating along front windows is also available. Hours: Tue-Thu restaurant 4-9pm, bat 4-10pm. Fri-Sat restaurant 4-10pm, bar 4pm-12am. Closed Sun-Mon. I had heard about this place from my peers and was intrigued by the "biergarten-turned-beer garden" idea. I am glad I checked it out--it is refreshing place of respite within Albany. Especially in the evening, the exterior veils the unique interior aesthetics. You have to walk in to experience the plant-themed cocktail bar. The drinks all were fun to see being made, and they most include a freshly trimmed flower. I liked these garnishes, as it made the drink more fun. The selection if drinks is alright (3.5/5)....there doesn't seem to be a huge variety in drinks, but I will admit that the taste is good. Food is a bit overpriced for what you get; if you do end up ordering, the fries are the best in my opinion. Cauliflower and rice was an expensive version of something you could make at home.... Overall, I highly recommend this place for the interior design and the atmosphere. The dimly lit, plant-focused interiors really added to the experience and make for a unique ambience. The place is busy, yet it still felt intimate with the different couches and furniture separated for each group. The drinks are good--I recommend the apple cranberry mule. Food is just okay (3/5). Service was also just okay (3/5)--understandably, the bartenders and workers seem quite busy (but still did not seem very attentive to the guests). Not a bad change from what this place used to be but a huge surprise when I walked in looking for games around. The beers were good I'll be honest but the pumpkin spice mudslide was garbage. It was awful! The atmosphere well that was super different a lot of plants and very dark inside. Not my favorite. Wow. This is a pretty good place: I was pleasantly surprised to find a place like this in Troy NY of all places. We wanted to get something to eat and drink, so we decided to try this place. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with plants and other fixtures. The menu was available for scanning on the table, and we placed the order online and even made the payment then and there. If you wanted drinks, you had to order at the bar. This restaurant is all vegan/vegetarian. We got the general Tso cauliflower to share and a beer. It was good, and the bed of rice felt good. We also got a beer, though there were many interesting cocktail offerings. As far as the rating goes: 50% for food, 30% for service and 20% for everything else (ambience). Food: 4 stars at 50% = 2 Service: 3 stars at 30% = 0.9 Ambience: 5 stars at 20% = 1.0 Total = 4.0 Definitely worth a try, and I'll be going back! read more

Great vibes with chill service and hip interior designs. It really does feel like I'm in a garden haha! They have non alcoholic drinks which is great cause I can't drink. I like how you can order food on your phone via QR code set up and drinks at the bar. Both indoor and outdoor seatings and the doors always open to the patio so good air circulation! Ambiance is absolutely perfect, the whole vibe with the lighting, elegant plant decor, and thoughtfully chosen details everywhere feels more like LA or NYC to me. Staff was beyond prepared, attentive without being too present, and very professional. Bar staff wad so knowledgeable and helped set me up with a wonderful cocktail that was both balanced with flavors and creative, too! This place is weird. On its cover, a vibrant, hoppy new floral corner bar in Troy, but at its core, an identity crisis amidst chaos. We stopped in late on a Saturday, and the place was decently full. Upon entrance, a hostess on their phone walked by and said if you'd like you can sit at a table but you have to order your drinks at the bar. Got it. So no service, but there's tables and it's kind of a free for all. Points reduced here. Secondly, I've worked in restaurants, but when the chef comes out of the kitchen to have a drink, that's nice and all, but when the staff is also eating their mid shift meal in the open at a free for all table, that's where I draw the line. Nice marketing of their pear Gorgonzola pizza, but poor etiquette. The name doesn't fit the vibe at all. The drinks were okay, nothing on the menu stuck out, and were over priced for Troy ($14 or so for a manhattan? These are manhattan prices in a 518 bar - no thanks) you don't get what you pay for here and you certainly don't get what you'd expect after glimpsing at their instagram page. I'm not sure how the food is, or the atmosphere/service if it were earlier in the day. I get it people are tired and don't like to work, but please change your brand if that's how your positioning yourself as a business. I won't be back, looking forward to seeing the next rebranding of this place. I was really excited to try the beer garden now that it is under new ownership and the menu actually has a burger on it. The vibe is great. The bartenders worked their butts off. They were slammed. Great beer selection. Menu is good too. Everything was great until the food came out - COLD. It took close to an hour too. We were so disappointed. Not sure if they were under staffed or the kitchen was slammed. We will try again and hope for hotter food. read more

I'm in love with this place! Have been since before it opened. Was stalking the place while they changed the format. Plants, cocktails, good service: perfection. Covid really kept everyone away from the gems all around us, this is one! This is seriously a place you want to have every cocktail in. The service is really great, super friendly an me efficient. Love to see mixologists in action, behind a gorgeous bar. Drinks are creative but well edited. Everything you need to make it appealing. We didn't have food but it looks cute. This is a super cool, fun spot to grab food and drinks - especially if you like plants! The venue is packed to the gills with them and it makes for a well-oxygenated and beautiful dining experience. For food, they serve small vegan plates, but don't be scared away! The portions are hearty and they pack a punch in the flavor department. Try the General Tso's Cauliflower - you won't be disappointed! We also tried the bao buns, truffle fries, and oyster mushroom calamari and were very pleased. The restaurant was busy when we came in but they seated us right away. After waiting 15 minutes I told the hostess no one has come yet. She said the wait staff is deciding who's taking our table. I didn't think that's a complicated decision but whatever. We order drinks and he runs away before I could tell him we are ready to order. Waited another 15 minutes to order. I got the cauliflower crust pepperoni pizza, my sister got vegan cheese pizza with a variety of veggies on it and the BBQ cauliflower app, and my friend ordered the steak. The blueberry lemonade was good. The food took another 30-45 minutes and the waiter never updated us on when it was coming out. The wait staff was running around the whole time. It didn't seem very organized. Our food finally comes which means the app and entree came at the same time which we didn't like. My sister and I both weren't impressed with the pizza. The steak was tough and tasted like char. The BBQ cauliflower tasted good but we could get that anywhere. The waiter didn't check on us and when he gave us the check he just dropped it on the table. He walked away without saying anything. The whole service took an hour and a half. Not a great experience and wouldn't go back. read more

The service was horrible. Took about 50 minutes for wings, pizza and salads. Waitress never updated us about food order. Only asked if we wanted more drinks. The manager came out and was disgustingly rude because we said to the waitress the second round of 2 beers should be on the house since we still had not been served our food. I have been an EMRY's customer for over six months. EMRY's has some of the best food and drinks in the downtown Troy area with a really special ambiance. However- that is not the reason I am writing this review today. I noticed that over the past few days, there have been multiple 1 star reviews left for EMRY's. I just feel the need to point out that everything in these reviews in completely false. The reason I am commenting on this is because I witnessed what actually occurred while I was eating dinner on Saturday night. Those writing these negative reviews were cut off due to being too intoxicated and were eventually asked to leave the restaurant. They would not leave and made a scene, even resulting in the owner having to threaten to call the police. The staff of EMRY's handled this with tact and I did not witness any disrespect towards these customers- it seems as though they are still angry about being cut off. Over the past six months, I feel as though I have come to know the staff and the owners very well. The owners are very involved and it shows. Each time I have been there, the owner personally approaches tables in the dining room to ask patrons how their meal and experience has been, which is something that I feel has been lost in the restaurant industry. It is extremely apparent that all of the staff genuinely care about each customer's experience. Do not let false reviews stop you from trying EMRY's. It is so disheartening to see people using yelp reviews to hurt a small business, especially when those writing them were truly the cause of the bad experience. Regardless, EMRY's will continue to be a restaurant I frequent. I always recommend the Short Rib Pappardelle for an entrée- it pairs great with a phenomenal bourbon cherry bomb and hits the spot every time. read more

Probably one of the rudest places I've ever been to in the area. I was meeting friends who were already inside and was told I wouldn't be able to go in. It was about an hour and a half before closing but we just wanted to get a quick drink. I was finally let in to a basically empty beer garden with the kitchen closed and no table service which wasn't an issue but it still shouldn't affect the amount of people coming in. They also had inconsistent prices, my friend had about a $5 difference between the first margarita she had and her second, which was the exact same drink. I work at a bar and we never treat our customers this way. read more

We went to Troy beer garden this weekend and had one of the more disappointing dinners I've had out in a really long time. I've been a fan of the space for a long time. My husband and I even had our reception at the Berlin last June. However, we waited two hours for our food, and the server and manager displayed behavior that spanned a range of inexperienced and rude. We arrived at the restaurant at 630 and placed our food and drinks orders. Our server disappeared for 30 min. after taking our order. Once we asked where our food was, we were assured it was coming out, it was not. Finally we spoke to the manager who proceeded to point out to us that our food order wasn't inputted into the system until 715 and could "show us the receipts". Multiple tables who arrived after us received their food well before us. We then waited another hour for the food to come out. The manager asked what she could do for us and rolled her eyes after we asked for drinks. This gave us the impression that the second round of drinks would be comped, which they weren't. The food was not great (my burger was flavorless), and not worth the wait. On top of it, no real apologies were made and nothing was offered to make the experience better. There are better restaurant options in Troy that know how to provide good service along with stellar food. We won't be returning. read more

They built a half wall where there was gorgeous plants for privacy... and they want it "family oriented". I was willing to pay for it, but the experience left me feeling humiliated. Great drinks, great decor. The music, however, is too loud and doesn't fit the atmosphere. You're sitting at tables meant for conversation amongst plants and old artwork while house music is playing so loud you can't carry on a normal conversation. You don't have to play jazz but maybe some old school hip-hop or something that's a bit more chill. It's not a club. Also, it was a cold night. I was using the bathroom while my husband was bundling up. A bartender came over and tried to take my glass of wine. My husband told him we're not done with that. The guy then asked my husband if he was "setting up shop." Husband said "no, it's my wife's wine and she'd like to finish it." We're not quite sure why he asked that question after we sat there and spent +$60. Bizarre. read more

What a great addition to the Troy cocktail scene. Atmosphere is beautiful with all the plants and subtle decor. All the staff are friendly and warm even during busy service hours. We went with a group of 3 as a walk in and had a 45 minute wait (expected as they were already completely booked for reservations for the evening). We went over to Bard and Baker for a boba cocktail while we waited, and they had a table ready for us right on time. We ordered truffle fries (delicious) from the table via the website and they came out so fast they beat our drinks! My favorite drink is the frozen mojito, but all the ones we tried packed a punch and had great flavor. We will definitely be back. read more
