Sorry it's taken me some time to write this. I was referred to go here from a friend for an IPL and the nurse who did was consultation was friendly. Unfortunately, the day of my first schedule IPL, after sitting in a chair with numbing gel on my face, told me that she "overlooked" my chart and my skin type was a 3-4 and they recommended buying A $450 skin care line, so that I can do my IPL. I did even more research and this made me even more nervous. I asked 2-3 times to change services to do something else because I wasn't comfortable with the IPL and they said NO! Hydrofacial: I've never had any kind of facial before this appointment so I don't have a point of comparison, but I can honestly say, I've never had a single treatment that made my 58 year old skin look so good! I came for the first time today to get lip fillers with a he best, Adrianne!!! She did such an amazing job. I got a full seringe of restylane, and just let her do her thing the process was super quick and it wasn't painful at all! I felt a little when she was numbing my lips but nothing bad at all. You obviously get swollen afterwards but I love my lips already and kind of wish they can stay this swollen. I had a great experience! SCHEDULING: To start off, they were extremely accommodating with getting me scheduled. I called multiple other companies to see if I could be fit in within a 2 week frame and most were scheduling weeks to months out. I was able to get an apt scheduled and changed through Yelp messenger. I talked to one person (Alexa) about scheduling at either facility. I was able to get scheduled for an appointment the following day! THE FACILITY: The office was on the second floor of a nice building in downtown Walnut Creek. Parking was not too bad. I recommend quarters & a credit card if you want to park close. The office was relaxing with coffee, water, & small bites. RESULTS: Adrianne did an amazing job on the lips. She was very gentle. Encore MedSpa changed my life. I have a rare genetic condition that screws with your primary and secondary sex characteristics. Among other goodies, that means excess hair. The stuff on the body is far easier to hide than the stuff on the face. Since the age of 12 or 13, I've lived with it. Not fun. Eight years ago I made an appointment in secret and got laser hair removal. I was butchered. The process took an hour, was incredibly painful, and caused me to break out so badly that I looked like the female (sorta) version of the Elephant Man. All in the name of getting rid of my facial hair. Last year I took a deep breath and decided to try again. I found Encore. I'll never regret that decision. From the moment I met Adrianne, Encore's laser tech, I felt at ease. I explained my fear and she handled the process with professionalism and empathy. I never felt like a freak, nor did I feel any condescension or derision. Best of all, getting laser hair removal on my entire face took maybe 5-10 minutes, total. Today I've had nine treatments and feel comfortable and confident. I can look at myself in the mirror. I can smile at the camera and mean it. When I walk into a room, I don't think to myself: "Who's snickering at the Bearded Lady?" I'm no longer that Bearded Lady. And I owe it to Adrianne, and to Ann, and to the other people at Encore. It is not cheap, nor is it painless. However, they'll work with you on both these counts to make sure it's as affordable and comfortable as possible. I paid $1000 for a six-treatment package and $249 per session after the first six. You can also split up the treatments and do one area at a time, if that's more financially do-able. As for the pain: Yes, it exists. I joke about going to get my face stapled, because it does somewhat feel like that, but it's definitely tolerable. They give you numbing cream and wine. Both help. I originally came to Encore Medspa because of a LivingSocial deal for a facial filler. I decided to purchase the deal after looking at all the great reviews they had on Yelp. I had 2 units of filler injected under my eyes to fill in the hollow areas. I now have an unrelenting muscle spasm under my right eye, non-stop for the past 8 days. Nobody at Encore Medspa including the nurse Adrienne Gonzales who preformed the procedure ever warned me about any complications that I may experience. I had job interviews the following week and the constant muscle jerking and vein popping in and out looked too weird and creepy for me to attend. I now have to wear large sunglasses to cover the twitching. I"ve tried contacting Encore many times for at the very least a refund but instead they refuse and instead want me to come in for more procedures. No Thanks! **Update** It's been almost a month and I still have the twitching. I am scheduling an appointment with my local doctor because I'm concerned about this. ***Latest Update*** Saw my doctor this past week about the twitching under my eye. She determined that the nurse who performed the procedure hit a nerve which caused muscle spasms that are ongoing todate. read more
