The problem is, I've struggled to find stylists who are willing to take me as short as I tell them I want to go. I've had to tell many stylists to keep going shorter, millimeter by millimeter, until I'm tired of sitting in the chair and just say it's fine. I've also had many stylists who either haven't listened or haven't been able to capture the style I want (a shaggy pageboy/bixie, NOT a blunt bob!). Cassandra was the first stylist I've had in YEARS who got it. We spent the first 15 or so minutes of my appointment on a consultation - not just me showing her photos of styles, but her asking specifically what my hair care routine is/how much time I want to spend styling, how I want it to grow out, etc. Then she took the time to bring the style to life - consulting me as she went to make sure it's where I wanted to go, and going back over places she felt needed more work. She was super focused, but also chill, funny, and easy to chat with for the hour appointment. It's been years since I felt like I haven't had to "settle" for a haircut. Then they made a comment to me along the lines of "he did a good job sitting even though it says otherwise on the computer". Are you serious? He is 6 and sat in a chair for an hour while you learned to cut hair. Today my son got into the chair and the lady asked how to cut it. I said shorter and she said "I need some direction". I mean you dont have to give me attitude. Sorry I dont know the lingo of using a 2 on the sides and a 3 on top or whatever; although I highly doubt if I went in and said that she would know anyways. My son left today with a haircut that is crooked on the front and has tufts sticking out randomly. Maybe if you suggest "cut it well" that would help them. Pros : quick Cons: rude, bad at cutting hair, and costs more than a barber. We will be looking for a barber and I suggest you do the same.
