We did Goldfish for nearly 4 years from the time my son was 18 months old to 5.5 years old. We nearly got up to a quirky dog paddle that my son could do before we were unenrolled due to my nonpayment (mom brain during Spring break, whoops.) Two of my son's swim teachers we got to know and love (Emily & Juquan) were incredible and I think really set the foundation for my son to try to connect the dots with swimming. While I think this is an excellent opportunity for brand new swimmers, I'm a tiny bit hesitant to recommend long term because it just took so long for my son to get where he's at today. We don't have a personal pool, only a community pool that's open during the summer. So maybe that's on me? Great staff, clean facilities, reasonable pricing for what you get but the learning model needs to revisited to get swimmers swimming faster.

My son is so much more confident in the water and, instead of panicking, now instinctively swims back to the wall and moves toward safety. He's also already picking up proper swimming techniques and becoming much more comfortable moving through the water, all thanks to Shervin's patient, effective teaching. Shervin is fantastic with kids: patient, kind, encouraging, and incredibly skilled at building confidence while making lessons enjoyable. Communication has also been excellent. He is always quick to respond, extremely punctual, professional, and polite. If you're looking for a swim instructor, especially for young children, I wholeheartedly recommend Shervin. We have been so impressed with both his teaching and his professionalism.

I'd recommend getting here early afternoon before the post-work rush. Easy sign in and sign up process - just scan the QR code at the front desk to sign up, enter in address, etc. Then sign in on the paper in the binder for access to either the swimming pool or the fitness center.

They have mini golfing where you can rent equipment inside the facility. They have a great playground area and outdoor fitness equipment. Inside the facility, they have a free pool and gym area. They offer a variety of classes such as yoga, water aerobics, etc. Make sure to check out their website or pick up their schedule at the facility for hours of operation. For first timers, you will have to fill out a form and don't forget to bring a large sized towel for workouts! There's a really great large dog park next door but there's no entrance to the dog park from Mary Jo Peckham. You would have to park at the Katy Library to enter the dog park. Her swim coach is Coach Arianana and she's an amazing coach. She's very attentive and is so sweet. I'm sure they're all Great their but since she's my daughters coach I'm very very pleased with the way she's teaching. I have referred a friend here also ans hopefully he'll start soon. The one thing this place has locked down is ORGANIZATION. The place is huge and has a lot of…read moreswimmers. Although it looks chaotic, they have a great system to keep things under control. The front desk has two people working, so even if one is on the phone, you are greeted by another member. Everyone I have encountered have been so friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Once you are signed up, they give your child a color specific wrist band, so the instructors and staff members know where to direct them. All the instructors have customized shirts with names on the back, which is super helpful to me because I can't remember faces as quickly. They don't make it a point where they speak with you after every swim lesson to give feedback on your child. However, towards the end of the week session or however long you signed up for, you are allowed to go to the other side of the pool and watch your child and then you can ask and/or discuss whatever you want. When I signed my son up, he was in for an "intense" weeklong session where he went every day for 2 weeks for 30 minutes a day. He started off as a "guppy". He did the session with 2-3 other kids, so technically I was paying for only 10 minutes of swim time. However, it was still worth it because he was young, and I think seeing other kids swim helps comfort him and gave him confidence. He cried on the first day, BUT his instructor, Miss Mary Lou was super sweet and was able to calm him down. At the end of the session, he was all smiles and couldn't wait to come back. When I signed up, my son got a shirt and a booklet. That booklet is super cute and helpful! It's a fun comic for the kid, but it also tells me what to expect because they basically explained everything in there. I'm telling you, their organization is great. They thought of everything! After the guppy session, he was advanced to the next level: goldfish. We transitioned to him swimming 1 day a week with other kids again. However, when private lessons popped up, we switched. I highly recommend private 1 on 1 sessions because you get the whole 30 minutes. The instructors do teach the entire 30 minutes and never stop a minute early, which is nice. You can rest assure you're paying for the entire time. I like the private sessions because I feel like my son was able to learn more. Mr. Luke was his private instructor, and he was awesome. He pushed him, which I appreciated. Of course, when my son showed signs of fatigue or was overwhelmed, I saw Mr. Luke adjusted his methods a bit, but he didn't "baby" him. The place has lots of changing rooms and a huge shower room for the kids. There is also lots of places for parents to sit and watch their child. Although a lot of people come and go, it doesn't feel overly crowded or claustrophobic. When your child passes the float test, they have a super cute tradition where the child gets to place their handprint anywhere on the wall and write their name. It just makes the child's experience more special and memorable. Overall, I highly recommend this place! This was a great place for my son to start off learning how to swim.
