I love coming here, it's one of my favorite wineries. We made this our last stop on the valentine's trial and it was worth it. Sunday was the best time to come, there was hardly anyone. They did have music outside, and they had a candy bar area for you to grab what you wanted. We got to try 5 samples, and I ended up buying a bottle. We had the whole outside to ourselves, everyone left way before the event was actually over. I'm so glad they got rid of the pottery potties, they now have full bathrooms outside and they are really NICE! They sell beer now from Riley's brewery, they also have slushies, and a great selection of wine. Check out their social media outlets for all up coming events, and music. I came here on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. We had a Galentines day, it was sunny and warm most of the day and made a perfect day to be out. It was my first time here, it was beautiful. You're allowed to bring in your own food just no drinks. They sell wine, beer, alcoholic slushies and red beer. They also offer Non Alcoholic Ultra beer. There was a taco truck on Sunday, my friends said the meat in the tacos was amazing. They had a really good musician, he played the guitar and sang. He was from Tennessee, and was so much fun. The vibe there was great. We danced, ate, sipped on drinks. I will definitely be back! Parking was free, but the lot is small. We had no problem this past sunday, but I have been told it gets crazy during the warmer months with parking. read more

Attended an event for a cover band. Grounds are huge and they offer VIP tables or bring your own chairs and or blankets. You can buy wine,beer and sodas on site. Go get drinks upon arrival as Long lines until much later in eve. Wine sold by bottle only. Ask for a wine bucket and ice. Two food trucks ...not great. Corn dogs on one and I think the other was tacos. Should have gone with the tacos. My mistake. You can bring in food. Size of ice chests is posted. Cover bands were good and great crowd. No mishaps. We scheduled Lyft so not sure about parking but it's pretty far out towards Kerman. Lyft worked great but pricey. (Worth it). read more

My second time here. First time was 4 years ago for the chocolate and wine journey only to return again years later for the same event. This was our 3rd stop. To be honest I wasn't to excited about it since the last time I was there, there wasn't a whole lot going on. But boy did they step it up from 4 years ago. There's plenty of parking. When we entered there were so many people and live music going. So many beautiful decorations and places to take photos for IG lol the staff that was pouring our drinks was very kind. They had a variety: reds, Chardonnay and beer. The ones we tired were delicious. They had many local shop and food vendors laid out across their outdoor area. The restrooms were nice and very clean. Wow! What a wonderful place to spend a Sunday afternoon! I'd been to Engelmann's a few times back in 2016 or so, but most recently visited on a Sunday in June. Beautiful, huge grassy area with trees for shade to spread out in your own chairs or picnic blankets. No charge on Sundays. That day there wasn't a food truck so we brought our own snacks. There are some tables a available to use as well. Since the last time I was there they have added a really nice bathroom. The indoor tasting room and bar looks amazing! Nice and cool on a warm summer afternoon. I tired their beautiful rosè, delicious! Their bottles/labels are stunning. Besides wine they have Coca Cola brand canned sodas, hint water, and a few more options. They also have beer on tap! I was really disappointed at my last visit to Englemann for the Bruno Mars tribute. I have been several times over the years and thoroughly enjoyed myself. However, some people are now freely smoking pot with no one to monitor it and it is out of control. There is a designated smoking area for cigars because of a cigar booth, not a fan, and it was clearly announced during the intro to please stay in that area. But it is not being observed either. I witnessed several people smoking pot, vap cigarettes, and cigars in and around the audience all thru the night. The pungent smell of skunk weed was everywhere and annoying. I nor my guests will not be returning. Very disappointing. read more

The most amazing venue for any occasion, especially for our wedding. My husband proposed to me at one of their Friday night concerts. Which if you haven't been and you're in the Fresno area it's a must! I've been to many events out there over the years. The communication with the owners and staff was smooth and easy, everything is laid out in the contract. They gave great suggestions for our other planning needs. They have very generous requirements. You do need to remember they are a small business, which is what gives it the magic. The most serene moment is when the sun has set, the wind is blowing, and the strings lights are on. October was a great month for a wedding out there. Their lawn was green and healthy. I have been there twice, the last time I took 2 bottles of water in my bag. They would not allow sealed water bottles in to the event. But you can take any type of snacks inside. (They bring in food trucks for the events). They won't let water bottles in but snacks can go in????? Really! In what universe does that make any sense? We received great service from mark I think that's he's name. He allowed us to taste and experience the delicious wines-- that sold us. He was so nice to explain the benefits of being a wine club member which really is an awesome deal without being pushy about it. I loved how he upselled us on wine. We bought a bottle and he recommended another that we'd love. You got an awesome wine steward in that guy hope I got his name right. They adhered to all covid protocols with only allowing so many tickets to be entered and everyone was socially distanced. Love the lights that graced the trees and the food truck that was onsite. I loved their labeling and bought some nice stemware to enjoy my bottles. We loved the platinum Cabernet. Can't wait to attend another weekend live music event read more

Engelmannn Cellars is a 5 out of 5 stars. Not only do the owners make you feel like family, but they are also easy to work with and handle all events with care and professionalism. We got married at this venue and, even though we lived 5 hours away, the owners assisted us in making sure our big day went smoothly. The negative reviews below are false. If you follow the contracts and clean up all areas that were used, you have no problem getting your deposit back. We received ours back in full without any issues (and again we lived 5 hours away from the venue and had a tight schedule). I have seen with my own eyes, the owners on their hands in knees cleaning up after guests/customers that leave their areas in complete messes. I have also seen how much work it takes to upkeep the beautiful yard and grass areas (areas that video recordings will not catch everything). The biggest bonus is how delicious the Engelmann wine is. Again, the care and finesse put into making the wine is shown in every sip. If you do not like the wine then you probably shouldn't be purchasing 100 bottles (especially after the tasting that is covered when booking the venue). It is not right to knock down a family-owned business (even more so now with the times we are in) when you don't respect what was agreed on. Englemann Cellars is top knotch in my book. read more

Our favorite local winery! Summer concerts have begun every Friday night for the 2023 season and they are so much fun. They also have beer in addition to wine and even had an amazing seltzer. We went to Engelmann Cellars for a music performance and to see a flamenco dancer. The grass area was surrounded by beautiful grape vines and trees. It was very peaceful! I wanted something to quench my thirst, so I ordered a Frose! SO YUMMY! However, the staff was a bit standoffish and totally did not enforce mask usage - it was a bit disconcerting! We ended up sitting about 20 feet away from the crowds of people (and NONE of the patrons we wearing masks - we felt completely out of place). We would have stayed a little longer had there been stricter COVID guidelines in place, but we felt uncomfortable and left. This is the only reason why I've given two stars... poor COVID regulations. Disappointed.! Engelmann made sure they had plenty of wine but didn't prepare vendors for all the ppl at Beegees tribute. The opening act was good yet not the right style for the Beegees. Not a good match. I feel bad for vendors bc they were getting chewed out!! Two vendors for all those ppl. Maybe Engelman did not communicate the number of people attending? We read on the advertisement, Covid precautions will be in place, temperatures taken at the door, masks required in restrooms and while moving through the venue, social distancing required, no dancing. It all sounded like a place who is taking the virus seriously and doing all they can to keep their customers safe. So we invited some friends who haven't gone anywhere since March since they provide care for high risk family members to come out and enjoy a safe evening out. When the guy who had the thermometer waved the thirty or so people who arrived at the same time as us through without taking a single temperature a should have recognized the covid precautions statements were all for show. A slight majority of the people respected social distancing and wore masks, but many did not. I wasn't overly concerned outdoors, but the same people who didn't wear masks outdoors didn't wear them in the extremely congested restrooms either. This included staff adding towels to the dispenser with their mask pulled down under the chin. As the night wore on, they decided their throats were no longer a threat and discarded them altogether. I understand the valley has a number of people who disregard mask regulations, but it is incumbent on the business to encourage compliance, rather than join in on blatant disregard of the rules. The music, wine and food was great. That night turned out to be the worst day of infections in our country and unfortunately I would venture to guess that they will start shutting down venues such as this once again. I wonder why? I'm giving them 4 stars for trying, but, the yearly Easter egg hunt was anything but good. They drew a crowd. Which is good, but, the hunt was over in 5 minutes and left nothing for the smaller kids who had to compete with the Jr high kids..... who really shouldn't have been out there. Note that it's not the winery's fault that there are lame parents out there, but, maybe next year have a toddler area so the little ones don't get trampled. Also, maybe have a small team who drop extra eggs so it lasts longer than 5 minutes???? We would have loved to spend more time and enjoy a tasting or two. I spent an entire Sunday afternoon out there with my son, such an amazing place for adults and children a like, the kids got to run around in the back park playing. The live music was fantastic and brought smiles to everyone. My family and I went to a few wineries this Sunday. Engelman Cellars was the only winery we had a terrible experience at. My family was visiting from Chicago. 4 of us were tasting my Uncle doesn't not like wine and was not partaking. We had beers for him in the limo. He took out a beer and was walking around while we began our tasting. Engelman was our 2nd stop. "James" the manager saw the beer and told him no outside beverages were allowed. My uncle said ok and began walking toward the exit to place it back in the limo. For no reason James continued to escalate the situation, even though my uncle was complying with his request! He said you can take it to the car NOW or throw it away, multiple times causing a scene. My uncle is literally the most gentle guy around and did not deserve the absolute over reaction he received. I understand the policy but you don't have to get loud and put on a show for no reason. We left without taking a sip of our wine and I will not be going back. I emailed the owner and have heard no response back. read more

Just leaving this venue - very disappointed in their customer service. We have attended several of their Friday night concerts in the past, and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as their wine selection. To kick off the 2019 summer season, we were given a 30% off coupon code for their opening event - Dueling Pianos. When we tried to redeem the promotion, their website said the code was not valid. We tried to contact Engelman Cellars via phone, left a message, and emailed their customer service through their website. No response. Our last resort was to try and attend the event to resolve the problem in person. Alas, when we arrived the owners and managers refused to speak to us, and their employees just responded that it was full price or nothing. We loved Engelmann as our go to local winery. We started out going for their delicious and refreshing summer wine during the summer heat and loved lounging until a tree in their massive picnic area. They put on concerts fridays and sundays that are always fun and packed. Eventually we joined their wine club membership for the 4 bottles and for $90-100 every 3 months we got the wine, free entry to their events and free tastings. I took my family here for Mother's Day, based on reviews I'd seen on Yelp, as well as Bret Engelman's Mother's Day labels discussed on facebook. It was a fantastic surprise for the entire family. Wine tasting is free every Saturday and Sunday, 12-5, and during the summer on Friday nights. The premier flight of wines has a $5 fee, but they have been known to wave it if they've got bottles already open. My family can be a BIT snobbish with wines, and they are NOT fans of Fresno wines. They said after this, however, that they couldn't believe how good and complex everything was. They kept saying how it didn't taste hot like other Fresno wines do, especially at this time of year. If you enjoy wine tasting you need to check out Engelmann Cellars! Its just outside of Fresno about 3 miles just west of highway 99 near shields. During the summer every other friday they have movies in the park. You can do some wine tasting and then sit outdoors with your lawn chair or blanket and watch a free movie. Engelmann has a huge wine list... pick your poison.... red, white, rose .. all types of wines. At first I was just skeptical about this experience. I have lived in Fresno for a long time and never heard of this place. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. When you come up to the place it kind of looks like a farm house. But as soon as you park and walk in. It does look like a wine cellar. They have lots of wines of different varieties. I had the Grave Pit Syrah and it was pretty good if you like red wines. Make sure you take some wine glasses. They sell some really nice souvenir ones there for $5. Well I went on a Friday which was a movie in the park night. As you walk on back behind the wine cellar. They have a really gorgeous setup. Its like this huge park with the greenest grass you ever did see. Heck the grass was so nice you could probably play golf on it. They have lots of concerts and weddings out in this place. I looked at their event calendar and they just had a blues festival out there last month. They also have weddings and other events like that theres. It's a really nice place. Well they had a pretty big movie screen up and there was like 100 people out there. Some with lawn chairs some laying or sitting on blankets. On a nice summer evening sitting out there watching a movie with the nice cool wind blowing , some nice cheese , crackers and wine and the stars in the sky. Its hard to beat. The night I went they showed the movie "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe. The movie was about wine and making wine....I think. I almost drank a whole bottle of wine all by myself thats why its hard to remember. It was definitely good times! I will definitelly be going back for a future movie night. One of the wine bartenders said when they showed rocky horror picture show that like 500 people showed up to drink wine and watch it. I wonder if they ever show the movie Friday?? That would be cool. charming, friendly, and beautiful little place. the view of the setting sun over the vines in the back was unforgettable. i was at a private event and everyone was happily posing for pics with wine glasses in our hands. major props to all the pourers. they couldn' t have more friendly, fun, and welcoming. lots of delicious wines (my favorite was the V.O.V- definitely taste this one!) and interesting wine souvenirs that i brought back for my friends. brett and matt are totally cute too! hope i'll get the chance to come back someday. read more

Wonderful experience- altogether pleasant (wine, staff & environment)! I received a private tour because it was nearing the end of the day and I was the only patron. The resident wine expert walked me through all the types of wine and helped me find my favorite. The property is exquisite yet minimalist. I visited during sunset and was able to enjoy the open barn area that let sunlight pour in while I sampled wines and conversed with the staff. WHAT!? WE'RE NOT IN PASO? First off, Bret Engelmann is a pretty swell dood, plus his fiancé Elainea likes MGMT. 100 bonus points awarded on first impressions alone. THE OWNERS // As part of the party planning comity this year, we decided to have our annual office summer event here at Engelmann's. From the initial phone call to the last drop of VOV poured during the tasting, Bret and his staff were professional, informative and friendly. It was really interesting hearing the background story behind each wine. He seemed sincerely eager to tell the stories, even though I have to imagine that it must get old singing the same song over and over again. But if it was, he didn't show it. They also had the tables set up and reserved for us. Besides the catering, all we had to do was buy the cases and show up! THE WINE // I'm not gonna lie, I love wine and consider myself a avid connoisseur, but unlike most I'm the kind that tends to favor bold fruit flavors and a little sweetness. I am not a dry, peppery fan at all. So if you're like me I should note that none of Engelmann's wines are sweet. On purpose. Not even his white or his rosé. That being said, and noted, I liked them all except the Rio Samba Rosé and the Platinum Mulino (a Sangiovese base which most everyone in my office loved!). Even the non-sweet white (Summer Quartet) was delicious! I can seriously see myself enjoying each of these wines at home. My top 3 OF THE EVENING? The Zinaz, the VOV, and the Ashley Cab. Amazingly none of which are part of the "Platinum Series." (It also goes without saying, the dessert Syrah is to die for! But that's a whole 'nother story.) THE ZINAZ // Interestingly enough this is my NEW favorite discovery of Engelmann's that is actually a blend of my OLD favorite the VOV. It's a 50/50 mix of the Very Old Vine Zin and Syrah. Like I said before, I'm a jammy fan, not a dry fan. But the blend of the two is absolutely amazing! Maybe it was because it was the 10th wine down the list, but this actually tasted sweet to me...even sweeter than the VOV by itself. NOTE // Unfortunately they were sold out of the Gravel Pit Syrah and the Two Horse Syrah so I was unable to enjoy those. I'm sure there's a reason they're sold out! Needless to say, I'll def be coming back for the Friday events! I can't wait!! Especially since it's like 15 degrees cooler than the city out there! Would I come back? Duh dot com. Would I recommend?
