Engine Dynamics was recommended to me and I'm happy I tried them out. I called for an oil change late in the day and Brian, the owner was able to fit me in. Since it was my first time there I wasn't sure where to park and there was an employee outside that was really friendly and told me where to leave my car. I like that he didn't make me feel like I was bothering him and he was happy to help. The next person I saw was the mechanic and he was also very welcoming and he was already expecting me so he took my key and showed me where the office was. When I walked into the office I was greeted by Brian and he couldn't have been any nicer. He told me they would get me out of there quickly and they were done with my oil change is about 35-40 min. They were very nice but they turned out to be way too expensive. They were going to charge $800 more than the other place. I ended up going to. They also did work and forgot to put my backseat on. I just realized that it has been 12 years since my last review. Time to update my review!! I have been seeing Brian Clark of Engine Dynamics now for 24 years. Every time I have to take my car to any dealership for something, I always end up having to take it to Brian to fix what they did. He is so honest and such a genuine guy. The quality of service is above and beyond. I send all of my friends and all of my clients to him and always get a great report back. I've had cars that have needed more work than others. If I can't get it all done at once, he helps me prioritize what is urgent and what can wait. On 2 occasions, he turned away money. He told me it's not worth fixing and I should just trade the car in. He could have just taken my money and kept fixing the car, but his reputation and integrity are too important to him. I don't know what I would do if Brian ever tried to retire. Brian initally referred me to a local transmission place after hearing a description of what was going on with my 2013 Kia Optima, but they said it sounded like a general mechanical issue and sent me back to Engine Dynamics (with no diagnostic charge). After checking my car out, Brian let me know that it needed some work done, but didn't try to upsell me or scare me into getting it done right away. I appreciated this. He was straightforward and told me I could wait on it, but that my car was nearing its useful end-of-life, sadly. They are a stickler for being on time and all good as they are able to do same day repair and car was available in a couple of hours. Before finding this gem of an auto repair shop, I was a customer at Firestone on Lyons Ave. Not only did I feel constantly over charged, but it felt like every time I went in for something "small" (i.e. a tire replacement or an oil change), I was told that not just one, but all 4 of my tires needed to be replaced. Or suddenly I needed brake pads and new rotors. As frustrating as it was to go in thinking I'd be paying under $200, and walking out after having to shell out $700, I never questioned them, because I figured they knew what was best. Well fast forward to a little over a year ago: I was tired of feeling like I was being taken advantage of, and decided to look for another shop. I wound up at Engine Dynamics (which is conveniently located down the street from me). Brian, the owner, was beyond helpful and kind, and his prices are great. Came here to get a full set of tires mounted onto my car. It's a small, local shop that has been around for a while. Everyone here is very nice and friendly. I was a tad afraid of getting the "you're a girl" experience - it was the exact opposite. The shop owner took notice of the tires I purchased - he immediately asked if I was into road racing. That started a very fun conversation about drag racing, road racing, various car setups, etc. He showed me around his shop and introduced me to some of the guys. I really appreciate the old school values of this shop. It's always fun to talk to more experienced people and exchange racing stories.
