DISGUSTING!! Don't TRUST!! Been bringing my 3 family cars to Chris for over 2yrs. This time it was my daughter's 2021 VW Jetta for an oil change. For some reason I decided to mark the original oil filter prior to bring her car in, just to make sure the filter is also being replaced (I just had a trust validation/suspicion). Upon completion I paid for my $81.59 for an oil change and then walked to the car and opened the engine hood. Low and be-hold, the original marked filter was still there. I called Chris out to the car and asked him if he changed the filter? He told me YES he did. I asked him if I could see the original one that was removed? He shows me some filter in a tray with many others... (so now I know he's lying to me), and showed him the marking I put on the original. If the oil change was done by his assistant I might have some sympathy, but Chris performed the oil change himself personally. I then asked him why he would lie to me? I've been a dedicated client for 2plus years? He did not have anything to say. I told him I want my money refunded, which he did not argue about. We all put our trust in mechanics, in my case I put my families trust in Chris, and unfortunately HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED!! At the end of the day, to save what, $15 on a new filter? Brought my car to Chris to figure out the check engine light. He called back same day and said he found at least 2 of the issues and recommended that we start with repairing those and then reevaluate. We both felt that the issue was probably larger than the initial repair but he didn't want to immediately get into a major repair without some additional road time. After the repair, and some road testing, we concluded the issue was, indeed, larger than the initial codes indicated. We talked about what that may cost and he suggested that I simply ride it out and start looking for another vehicle. Who does that??!! I am totally amazed how he's able to diagnose common and or unusual problems with an automobile. Recently, I couldn't get my windshield wipers to work. Chris immediately identified the problem and stated they could be fixed. The motor that controls the windshield wipers had a broken arm. He also advised me that continually running the windshield wipers in this manner could cause the windshield to break. This of course would been catastrophic on the freeway. I appreciated the warning with the realization that other mechanics might have overlooked this factor. He is an honest businessman who lives and works in our city. Mr. Fix It was one of four shops I contacted through Yelp for an estimate on radiator (cooling system) service. They responded promptly with an estimate that was exceeded by 50% at two other shops! I dropped my car this morning and picked it up three hours later. The work was done, of course, but Chris also checked other parts of the vehicle. Sometimes we think all shops are somewhat crooked or trying to squeeze money out of us. I was so pleased to hear Chris tell me that he could tell cerysin parts had been replaced and were in good shape. He advised that I pay attention to one item, but everything was okay.
