Decided to stop by for a quick bite and I'm sure glad I did. I ordered the maple sriracha wings with some mac n cheese and boy was everything delicious. My friends got the Mushroom Mae Burger and raved about it as well. The servings themself are also very sizable. Service was so friendly and quick. The beers on tap were all so refreshing in the summer heat and overall, everything was perfect. It felt like a perfect little brewery in such a picturesque town. Very clean and GREAT A/C.

This was a spot with a large bar that served new American cuisine for the most part. The menu was rather large with very exciting choices. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I had four dishes that I will describe below. Carolina Hush Puppies ($8) - These came with jalapeno-honey butter, which was what drew me initially, but they did not need them at all. There was five extremely large hush puppies, and they were some of the best, if not the best, I ever had. They were perfectly fried with tons of flavor. The butter was tasty, but as mentioned, not needed at all. Deviled Farm Eggs ($8) - There were four present and they were topped with a homemade chili crunch. These were solid. I thought the chili crunch would be spicier, but there was a nice slight crisp factor with the crunch present. Old Bay Macaroni Salad ($6) - This was a traditional macaroni salad with a hint of old bay. The macaroni was cooked ideally, and the touch of old bay was a different seasoning to use. Chopped Salad ($19) - This had romaine lettuce, roasted carrots, avocado, pickled red onion, cornbread croutons, bell peppers, feta cheese, and pulled rotisserie chicken, with a green goddess dressing. This was very big with a ton of all of the ingredients. They appeared all fresh and paired nicely with one another. I thought the dressing was a little light and actually could have used more flavor. The cornbread croutons were unique and stood out. Will I go back? Yup.

Came bace 2 years later and I got the 6oz fillet ($28) and salmon jerky ($15). Salmon jerky was smoky and savory. 4 pieces that had about 2-3 bites each. The fillet was unfortunately overcooked to a medium well instead of medium rare. I did not send it back due to it being busy. The potatoes and greens were delicious! Staff was friendly! Overall still a good restaurant, if the steak was cooked to the correct temp it would get that fifth star. Food(50%): 6.7 Staff/service(25%): 7.0 Value(25%): 7.5 Overall: 6.9/10

Delicious! Loved every bite. Pretty dark (and moody) vibes. We sat at the bar for dinner. I don't recall much about the service, but I know if it was bad, I'd never go back & I'd make sure to notify you all about that! So no worries here, please give them a visit. They have a nice selection of meal options to choose from.

I ordered take out online and had a great experience here. Online order was easy and convenient. I ordered a variety of different things. Pick up was as simple. They have a small parking lot outside that I was able to get a spot while I ran inside to grab the food. Inside had a nice atmosphere and staff was helpful. Overall the food was great! I orders the chicken and dumpling soup, farm greens salad with chicken, the chicken burger and the black bean burger with a pork patty. The only disappointing food was the chicken and dumpling soup. There was only like one dumpling and the broth was way too salty. The salad was delicious! So fresh and colorful. I loved it. The burgers were also delicious! Flavors were great and very filling. The prices were also very fair. I would come back!

Engine Room is a gastro pub located in a old engine factory. It has a rustic look and it's a cool spot. We sat outside on the patio during brunch. Service was efficient and friendly. There's a large selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wine. The cuisine is American; there were burgers, salads, sandwiches, and more. They also give you the option to make your own bloody Marys. I had the Express Yourself cocktail which is like an espresso martini; that was good. For my meal, I had the Engine Room breakfast sandwich, it had bacon, eggs, cheese, on a bun with fries. The food was really good. Overall, we had a good experience. The food and drinks were delicious and would definitely return.

We went for lunch and were told right away that they were out of several menu items, which was fine. One person in our group has multiple allergies, and while the staff assured us it would be fine the service didn't reflect that level of attentiveness. It ended up taking over 45 minutes for our food to come out. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait for rotisserie chicken and that salads with chicken would be substituted with crispy chicken, but we didn't order anything that should have required that kind of delay. During that time, we watched several other tables come in after us, get their food, and leave before we were even served. After our drinks were dropped off, our server never checked back in to update us on the delay. However she did check in after we got our food. I completely understand that things can get busy, but the restaurant was empty, and multiple staff members passed by our table without acknowledging us. Overall ambiance was very nice... the exposed brick, the cozy booths. But we won't be rushing back any time soon.

Stopped in for a drink and snack a Cole times over our weekend in Mystic. We sat at the bar both times, they were very kind with questions and quick with service. We ate the chili crunch hard boiled eggs and the hush puppies... delicious!! We ate them too fast for photos.

We have been to two sister restaurants and enjoyed them, so figured we would try out the Engine room. Everything went really well! We enjoyed all our dishes: Deviled eggs Poutine Whipped ricotta Chicken burger Cobb salad Each were tasty and fresh. And reasonably priced! It helped that we went during happy hour, though only 2 of the items were on HH special and we only received the discount on one of the 2 items. But we were very pleased with the food's presentation, service and atmosphere. We weren't aware that there was also a small parking lot, but we were able to score a street parking up the road. In a town where Parking is at a premium it's nice that they have a lot. We will be back!

A staple for visiting with a good friend. They have an enjoyable outside deck, or you can sit in the bar area or a small quieter portion of the dining room. Great happy hour specials for drinks and apps. Never have had a bad meal or service here. In the busy season, be prepared to wait for a table.

My friends and I ate at Engine Room while visiting Mystic for the day. The restaurant came recommended from a coworker. Overall we were happy with her recommendation - it was a positive experience. The restaurant is pretty central to Main Street and definitely walkable if you want to stroll around and walk off your food. Parking in the front is limited but there's additional parking behind the restaurant. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and checked-in frequently. For food we started with an order of the Cowboy Dip and the Salmon Jerky. The dip is good, but it's very cream cheese forward. It's basically just cream cheese mixed with jalapeños. We ended up asking for more chips because you'll likely run out. The salmon jerky was DELICIOUS. I could've eaten an entire plate as my entree. The serving size isn't great for a group however. It comes with 4 pieces, so each person in our group got a single piece. For mains the group ordered the Mushroom Mae Burger, the Chicken Burger, a pulled chicken sandwich off their seasonal specials menu, and a French Onion Soup. Everyone enjoyed their food. I thought the Mushroom Mae burger tasted excellent - just wish it came with more fries. The only critical feedback was for the Chicken Burger - it was a tad bland and not super memorable. We all left full and satisfied - I would come back again next time I'm in town.

    Loryl S.

The food was delicious! The potato salad good enough to want to buy a whole container to take home! The onions rings crispy outside but they do separate. The burger and chicken burgers were perfection and the cocktail and moctail were delicious! The service was great even on a very busy day. We sat outside which was really nice but they had a lot of indoor seating as well. I will definitely return

The shrimp presented in the cocktail were cold, crisp and fresh and the sauce had a great taste and consistency. We also enjoyed the DPI skewers that included a bit of steak tip, a sea scallop and a fresh shrimp that was that was grilled to perfection and drizzled with a bit of horseradish cream sauce. The staff members are always welcoming and the aura of the visitors -since we became a nation seem ever-present. Bravo DPI... See you soon. On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. Parking was a bit of a challenge but by far worth the hunt. If you are looking for a very friendly restaurant with a historical beginning and great food... Look no further. DPI is a definite re-visit for us.

The building itself is gorgeous with thick beams and great finishes. It's a beautiful place even if it is a little tight. With that said, we had a party of 10 and had reservations in advance. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.

We were seated at a lovely table for two overlooking Main Street - watching people stroll by from that elevated perch behind glass felt almost cinematic. The real star of the show was the food, which is ultimately what you're there for, and it delivered. The menu offers plenty of options without being overwhelming. I started with the Crispy Pig's Head as an appetizer - a bold choice that turned out to be outstanding. For my entrée, the bucatini with seacoast mushrooms, sherry, parmesan, mushroom cream, and fine herbs was perfectly cooked, and carried a subtle but deeply flavorful sauce. And the housemade sourdough with poblano honey butter? Absolutely outstanding. To be fair, our server took a little time to warm up but found their footing and gave us everything we needed. Parking in Mystic on a busy weekend night can also be a challenge and expensive. Neither is reason enough to skip this one. Ship Wright's Daughter is exactly the kind of restaurant Mystic deserves. I really didn't want to write this review, but potential patrons should know what they can expect…read morewhen working with the event staff at Shipwright's Daughter - if they plan to have a private dining experience and event there. My husband and I got married last December. We decided we would hold off on celebrating with our family and invite everyone out from California to join us for a weekend full of activities in Connecticut and a special dinner at Shipwright's Daughter during Memorial Day weekend. We contacted the restaurant's events team to work out high level details starting in late January - to book a private room and hold a date and time. From the get go, the communication we received from the event staff was dismal to say the least. Not only did the events manager misquote the estimate for the room reservation, she came back and asked for a much higher price (up charging by an additional 30% of the original minimum fee) two months after we confirmed and discussed the date. She then explained it was due to the holiday weekend. Our date had never changed from the moment we inquired, so we would have appreciated knowing this upfront. Over the course of several months (and an absurd number of emails and a few calls), we tried to solidify the menu and wine selection and made multiple attempts before hearing back from the team. It was about two weeks before the big event when we were able to confirm a menu. It was about four days before the event that we heard back from the beverage director, but by then, my husband and I had already decided we would bring our own wine bottles, not wanting to leave it to chance with this team. I won't go into further details about the frustration we felt regarding their system for communications (they use an internal system that doesn't make it easy for guests to know who is copied on emails and who sees what). That is something I hope they will work out. When the big day came, I walked into the room and noticed there were a number of chairs missing, so I counted the chairs. They had an incorrect number of chairs for adults and not enough high chairs for the toddlers. We had requested a specific number of these chairs (weeks prior and mentioned it multiple times in writing), and I thought it was safe to assume that this was a basic checklist item for events set up. I was dumbfounded in the moment. I couldn't help but wonder what else they were going to miss or mess up that evening. It was disappointing to have our family members wait while the staff scrambled to pull other chairs into the room. From the time it took to take everyone's order from the set menu, the time between courses being served, and the attentiveness for pouring water and wine - all of it was a miss. The level of hospitality that we expected from a restaurant so recognized for its incredible food and approach to sustainable sourcing was completely overshadowed by the lack of attention and care by its staff - since day one of planning this event. Even a few of our family members commented on this during the dinner. At the end of the day, we felt like an obligation rather than welcomed guests, and that is mainly why I'm leaving this review. We had been patrons of Shipwright's a couple of times prior to this event, which is why we chose this establishment - to represent the best that Connecticut has to offer, when it comes to a dining experience we could vouch for. We no longer feel that we can recommend this restaurant. If you care about hospitality, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

As absolutely deliciouus. The crust was soft on the inside and crispy on the out. Sometimes adding items can be disappointing but the grilled chicken was moist. Their menu has plenty of classics, but what really surprised me were the standouts: the spaghetti pizza and the Philly cheese rolls. The spaghetti pizza sounds unusual at first, but it totally works -- hearty, cheesy, and surprisingly well-balanced. It's the kind of dish you order out of curiosity and end up finishing because it's just that satisfying. The Philly cheese rolls were another hit: crispy on the outside, packed with flavor inside, and perfect for sharing... or not sharing. Service is friendly, portions are generous, and the prices feel fair for what you get. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the wait times can run a bit long during busy hours. Still, the food makes it worth it. Definitely a solid local spot with some fun menu surprises. I'll be back.

Plus the puppy picture name wall was adorable and they name meals after them! Our server was nice and the menu had interesting choices, but sadly they sounded better than what they were. - the scramble was not that great...overdone eggs and I'm not a fan of slapping a square piece of cheese on eggs. I think shredded cheddar would have been a better choice and the crumbly-sausage was an odd choice for breakfast sausage - I was excited they had hash browns but they were premade with garlic powder and came out mushy. They left a lingering weird garlic flavor - turkey sandwich had real turkey breast which was great but it was too hot and made the sandwich soggy - burrito was good but the homefries were burnt beyond repair Lots of parking on the side and front area

Presentation was always artistic & above and beyond. The waitstaff have always been pleasant and agreeable and gone out of the way to make our stay the very best. Today was no exception. I brought friends from out of town to S&P, and we were given one of the nicest corner tables with an excellent view. The food was excellently prepared and so very delicious. My friends could not stop talking about how delicious everything was and we consumed every little morsel on our plates. I had the hot muscles appetizer serve with crispy toast points, and the broth was so very delicious. I had to order some of their homemade focaccia to share with my friends and offer tastings. My girlfriend devoured the seafood paella which was absolutely delicious! The combination of fresh seafood was perfectly presented and generous in serving. The rice had loads of flavor and was a perfect accompaniment. Her adult son enjoyed the crispy, buttermilk cod. The hand battered crust was out of this world, and the fish was so moist and delicious. He was so blown away by the whole meal ... as the french fries were crisp and freshly cut, and the coleslaw he said was the best he had ever had also!!! I had a chance to speak to one of the managers and reminded him of my family's many visits. We have never been disappointed and certainly will be coming back again and again and again Thank you so much for this wonderful and ever so memorable experience!!! The Young Valet staff handled my car beautifully and we're so thoughtful as well! Couldn't ask for anything better!!!!

Went here with my family this year on the Tuesday after Mother's Day and I had hyped the place up based on my wonderful experience last year. I was thoroughly disappointed with the menu selections and the food. The waiter told me they change out their menu from time to time. I sure wish they hadn't because the lump crab dip was delicious but the replacement was spinach and artichoke dip. The artichokes were not blended they were chunks and it was not in a creamy sauce but dry with shredded Parmesan cheese over the top. It was awful. I didn't even eat it. I also ordered the crab cake which wasn't good. Last time I had the crab cake, it was made with chuncks of crabmeat. This time it was shredded crabmeat and a lot of breadcrumbs. My son's girlfriend and my husband both ordered mussels and they each said they were okay. My husband also ordered what we call a crab imperial dish containing different kinds of shellfish, bread crumbs, cream sauce and cheese. Our son ordered a crispy fried chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious. I tried it and it was so good. The chicken was fried light and with tasty Chilean sauce on it.

The regular menu looked creative and appetizing as well. I had their daily oyster ($1.50 each), mussels ($10), and their cutie smash burger ($9). The oysters were from sixpenny on the day I attended. They were fresh and went down smoothly. The mignonette that was served with it was interesting. It seemed to have some sort of orange juice incorporated, but who knows. It was not bad. I preferred the cocktail sauce and horseradish provided. The mussels came in a coconut lemongrass broth with chili, cilantro, and lime. These were some of the freshest mussels I had in a while. It was noticeable to me from the feel and taste. The coconut lemongrass broth was a nice compliment and very flavorful. The burger was a quarter pound smash patty with cheddar cheese, umami mayo, lettuce, pickles, and white onion. This was cooked ideally to a medium-medium rare temperature. The bread was the key as it held the toppings and was of good ratio. The pickle was nicely folded and placed where it was not hanging off the burger. It was a little sweet, but not a big deal. Will I go back? Definitely.
