Lobster roll and fries
Lauren B.

Don't come here for the lobster rolls because they're not that great. It's more of a barbecue place. The bun that came with my lobster roll was stale on the bottom. The onion rings were greasy and the french fries were terrible. The stuffy's. (Stuffed clams) we're not good. I asked for a coconut margarita and they gave me a lime margarita when I complained they took my drink back and added too much coconut. That being said they do give you a lot of Lobster meat. Mystic dog watch just not here too the dog watch café in Stonington which is so much better.

First time at the Dog Watch Café Mystic location, and it was a lovely experience! I've been to their Stonington spot many times (and love it), so I was excited to check this one out. The Mystic location has a great outdoor patio, perfect for enjoying a nice day. It's dog-friendly, has games for kids, and the atmosphere is laid-back and fun. The menu here is slightly different than Stonington's. While Stonington leans more toward seafood, the Mystic location has more of a smoked BBQ focus, so it really depends on what you're in the mood for! My dad went with the lobster roll and fries, and I had the Gluten Free Salmon BLT. They don't offer GF bread, but they do have wraps, which worked just fine. Portions were generous, everything tasted fresh and delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was welcoming and attentive, which always adds to the experience. Also.. it's super close to downtown Mystic, Olde Mistick Village, and even Niantic, making it a convenient stop if you're exploring the area.

FAST review Food: there were four of us and everyone enjoyed the food! I got the fish & chips along with an IPA. Another got the ribs, which looked like a great dry rub. We also got the cod watch sandwich. The Dog Watch Punch was not good. Atmosphere: great looking patio, but we sat inside because it was cold outside. Service: there were well over 6 young ladies helping serve, and were great. The drinks came out really fast, as did the food. Tips: lots of options to choose from.

The ONLY restaurant we ate at during our family vacation. And it was not the wrong choice! Service was great! The server checked on us multiple times, making sure drinks were filled and we didn't need anything. The food... the food was all fantastic! We ordered multiple apps and all had different meals, EVERYTHING was delicious! It wasn't overly crowded, but we were there a little early. We also sat outside, which was nice and covered. We had 5 children with us too, and they were happy playing at the outside entertainment area. The price was VERY reasonable. We had 9 ppl, and with a few drinks and the apps, less than 200. Would 100% eat there again.

Parking: very small lot, had to park on the street Decor: awesome patio and test area for parties and a quaint dining room area with a bar to sit at! Decorated nicely. Food: Excellent, the menu is amazing, I literally have to go back to try 3/4 of the things listed. Price: very reasonable, again I will be back and back

Cold (front) and hot (back) lobster rolls

Hidden gem mins away from the main mystic areas. My mom and I went with the dog and sat out on the patio. Service was great! We each ordered a lobster roll. One cold and one hot. Omg these were amazing! Good lobster to bun ratio and our sides were good as well. I recommend checking this place out to anyone visiting mystic!

Came here for a nice lunch. Food was good and the service was friendly. Bacon wrapped chicken bites and pulled pork platter with a blueberry lemonade .

The service was great, the ambiance was cool, and the food was super good.....although I asked for medium on my burger and got well done, it was still ok.....would go again, next time I'd probably go help the cook to make it right.......lol

This place was really good and accommodated for a service dog. The service was quick, the space was nice with a fireplace, and the food was delicious. I would recommend the clam chowder and lobster rolls.

Came here for lunch the Tuesday after Christmas around 1:30. They asked if we had a reservation. It was going to be a 30 minute wait but there were 2 seats at the bar we were able to snag. Definitely make a reservation if planning to come here! You can tell the regulars knew to do so! We had a cold lobster roll and a salmon blt and enjoyed both! Salmon was nicely cooked. It had a little char. The bacon wasn't too fatty. I had a side of Mac n cheese. It was cheesy and delicious! There was a nice seasoning on it. This would probably be a nice place to come in the warmer weather. You could sit outside and enjoy a meal and the games they have. (Yelp labels this as a bbq place. I wouldn't consider this a place to come to if you want bbq. They have a few bbq options.)

Really cool restaurant with outdoor games and firepits with Adirondack seating. I tried the Dog Watch salad with ahi tuna, which was really good with all the right proportions. I'm used to having walnuts in salads that are whole and these were crushed, but I really enjoyed the unique texture they offered to each bite. The staff is really nice and attentive. I'll definitely be back with friends to have another experience!

Calamari with banana peppers but why is there sausage in it!!?!

Being my first time here I was pleased with the view as it was a lovely day to be by the water. We had a 45 minute wait for our table. Though you're able to go to the bar seating around in the back where we waited for our table. We ordered our delicious drinks as we had a wait time. I ordered the pain killer drink which was so delicious and strong. Only drinks and can't order appetizers though which I was disappointed as I didn't have anything to eat prior and I started to feel my drink. Once your buzzer is called you finally get your table which they have 15 tables available. The hostess in this area escorts your party to your table. There really isn't a bad seats there. There is a separate waitress for the bar area so you have to settle your bar table before moving over to your table. The menu has a plentiful of meals to choose from. I went with the fish & chips which was a good amount of cod. Also we had the oysters to start off with. The food was very delicious. We declined with the deserts as we were full. If you haven't been to the Dog Fish Cafe you should as you won't be disappointed with the fresh seafood they serve there.

Warmly summer day, sitting outside under the umbrella and watching the comings and goings of the dock. Awesome! We had a wonderful lunch. Local made brew offerings were a nice compliment to the bay scallops, which was a filling meal with veggies and potatoes. The Tuna Poké bowl was so tasty, I wish there was more! And a blueberry crisp special was shared by all. We will make the trek here again!

With its Latin American focus, I felt like the Peruvian chicken would be the best bet. Plus it was listed first on the menu (unlike concert setlists the best isn't usually saved for last - what's the deal with The Killers opening with Mr. Brightside? - but I digress). This was superb, partly thanks to the salsa verde, but also due to the excellent basil bread. I also enjoyed the mint lemonade. The local customers, like many Yelpers, raved about the Chinese BBQ sandwich and said I should get it next time. I had a moment of indie-rock snobbery and thought I can get Chinese sandwiches anytime in NYC, but I was curious about the emphatic praise. For a second I pretended I couldn't possibly get a second sandwich. So with some self-delusion combining "I didn't eat breakfast" and "these nice people told me to get another one" I got the BBQ sandwich. It, too, was excellent, with a perfect fusing of ham, bread and sauce.

It was founded by culinary couple Johan Jensen and Abbey Hemmann. Johan is a native of Denmark while Abbey is a Connecticut native. The two met in Cape Cod and eventually got married on White Crest Beach in Wellfleet. In July 2019, the couple opened their first restaurant, Whitecrest Eatery, at the Velvet Mill in Stonington. The historic building was originally home to the American Velvet Company, which operated from 1892 to 1996. Today it is a multipurpose building that is home to a thriving community of small businesses and artist studios. The American bistro with a weekly-changing menu soon won numerous awards and accolades. By 2024, the couple opened a new restaurant in the Velvet Mill. This time they would focus on artisanal wood-fired sourdough pizza as well as sandwiches, salads, and other delicious treats. Named for the "back door" of the Velvet Mill, the pizzeria soon won its own accolades. My sons and I recently had lunch at Back Door. I've visited the Velvet Mill numerous times, but this was my first visit since Back Door opened. After looking of the menu, we all decided to order and share the "Margherita" (fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato sauce, EVOO) and the "CBR" (house ranch, bacon, chicken, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, everything spice, lemon, dill). After ordering, we picked a table right by the pick-up window so we could watch the kitchen crew at work. Both pizzas had great crust that was crispy on the outside and yet chewy on the inside. The fresh ingredients gave the pies some rich flavors with a nice smoky finish. I really liked the "Margherita", but it was the topping combo on the "CBR" that left me really impressed. I washed everything down with a bottle of locally-produced Hosmer Mountain Birch Beer. We were all very happy with our lunch. Before leaving, my younger son had a delicious "Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie". He was nice enough to offer me and my older son a bite. We were impressed with Back Door and hope to return in the future!
