We arrived ten minutes before opening to find a line of about 200 people waiting to enter. These people are serious shoppers that come equipped with carts, wagons and armfuls of bags. Seventy or so vendors are organized by produce, crafts, baked goods and prepared foods. Long lines of shoppers form quickly outside popular produce vendors, making it difficult to shop. The regulars know exactly where they want to go. If you see something you want, you need to buy it quickly or it's gone. The produce was locally grown and beautiful in most booths. Prices were high, in general, but shoppers were not deterred. I picked up some beautiful and reasonably priced eggplant. But I draw the line at $6 pints of cherry tomatoes. Several vendors were selling fresh baked goods. Bakeries from around central Indiana were present. I saw breads, muffins, cookies and more. I was intrigued by sourdough bread and bought a loaf. Music plays at a central location. Tables and chairs fill up quickly with coffee drinkers and people sampling the various food selections. We had trouble finding a seat to eat my breakfast pizza. People had dogs on leashes, lots of dogs. Personally, I prefer not to have dogs at the markets because they stick their noses in the food. Don't get me wrong, I'm a dog lover, but I leave mine at home. Parking fills quickly and we found backing out of our space to exit a challenge as cars kept coming. Some people park over in the mall parking and walk, which might be easier. I did not see rest rooms or other amenities. I think it's probably easier to shop after you have been a few times to the market and know exactly what you want. Bring a hand cart.

Due to construction that's why it's moved to the circle. I noticed today they've added more food trucks which they did need. They definitely could add more. You have lots of visitors and people who work downtown who attend lots of functions that happen on the circle. Flying Dirt Farm, Hunter's Honey Farm, Chez Pauline are ones I always stop at. They have vegetables, flowers, soaps, and more. It seems like when it first started in May it wasn't as busy. Now, you can tell it's picked up. Good for the vendors! Because of you meet all those requirements, you can visit Indianapolis' Original Farmers' Market and have a terrific time. Market Street is closed to vehicular traffic during the Farmers Market, so it gets transformed into a pedestrian mall. There must have been 50 vendors on both sides of the street. And what might those vendors sell? Probably every type of fruit and vegetable grown in the state of Indiana, plus spices, ciders, baked goods, oils, vinegars, eggs, meats, granola, wine, flowers, beef jerky, coffees, guacamole, salsa, tostadas, soap, cosmetics, honey, popcorn, lemonade, bakery goodies, egg rolls, pet foods, teas, coffee, and cocktail mixes. It's a gorgeous sensory overload of reds and oranges and yellows and greens as you see stall after stall of amazing looking produce. I picked up some great beef jerky and a bottle of cocktail mix from Tailored Toddies. This was one helluva great Farmers Market!

It's a lovely market. It's very simple the layout basically one big circle. I wish I could find the name of the lady that had a table FULL of vases of flowers. They were stunning!!! She's not only a good floral designer, but I can't imagine what her flower gardens look like. She filled them full with flowers. Rock of Etches has sand engraved pottery. Had to buy my dad a Hoosiers mug. They had Pacers, Purdue, I U mugs. They had other neat pieces of pottery too. They had so many different small businesses there. Food, gifts, soaps, candles, signs you name it. Will definitely be back!! I was surprised how much stuff I found. Going to be wearing my new Indiana earrings with my Pacers shirt for the big game!

I usually sleep in on Saturdays, but there's something special about getting up early and discovering experiences like this. I'm so glad I did. The day started out gloomy with cloudy skies and off and on rain, but it cleared up just in time for me to enjoy the market. I took a stroll through the vendors to see everything they had to offer. The fresh corn stand was especially popular, and I loved the flower vendor where you could create your own bouquet, which was also popular! There were several tea vendors offering samples, and I really enjoyed the green tea, bourbon peach tea, and a refreshing hibiscus watermelon drink, they were all delicious. While this isn't a huge farmers market, there was still a great variety of vendors selling fresh produce, popcorn, mushrooms, Salamat Cookies, and even Filipino barbecue. The owners at the barbecue stand were incredibly friendly. There was also live music, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. Parking was available both on site and on the surrounding streets. It did get busy, but I was still able to find a spot nearby without much trouble. Illumine Coffee had its coffee truck there serving both hot and iced drinks, which was a nice addition. I had a wonderful time walking around, supporting local vendors, and soaking in the atmosphere. I'd definitely love to come back!

Dad's is sold at most of the larger farmers markets in the Indy area. Today was their first weekend selling corn at the Zionsville Farmers Market for this season. The line for corn stretched 20+ long waiting for the market to open. And we got ours. The line moves super quick because the corn is already bagged. A bag of a dozen usually contains 13 ears and costs $11 (this season). The corn is the freshest corn you can find, picked at the peak of perfection. Each ear is so sweet that you don't even need butter. I'll be serving mine for Father's Day dinner. Seems appropriate to have Dad's corn on Father's Day. The bags can returned each week for recycling. We arrived early at the market and easily found parking. Dad's also has an online store that sells shirts, mugs and other logo items.

The farmers market is a great family activity and often features live music, storytelling and other charming activities. We often end up grabbing brunch from Llama Delicatessen and Tinker Coffee. As for market vendors, you'll find everything from pasta and local cheese to winter produce, honey and dried flowers. It's a great assortment of food you can actually take home to make meals (and not just sauces and soaps ;). This is one of our favorite ways to spend Saturday mornings in the winter. The Amp - even tho it is not by anything - has the audacity to have pay parking lots but they are FREE during the farmers market! This market is huge with lots of vendors. Bring CASH. There's a lot to offer - Filipino food, vegetables, fruits, spices, handmade crafts, baked goods, candles, sandwiches, etc. The food stalls are also open so you have a ton of awesome options for food while you are there!

Mostly, though, The Famous Tomato is a specialty food store. It's also a little farmers market, so you'll find lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Famous Tomato feels like a hidden gem, even though it's right there in plain sight in Speedway. For some reason, I would pass by it and I thought it was a Fazoli's? It's most certainly not, though. When you step inside, you'll see that this is a special place, with lots of special and local foods.
