Funny story, a couple days earlier we came here they tried to seat us right by the bathroom line up and we left. No thanks. However we came back for supper and it was terrific. I know they always say don't eat next to the tourist spots but this place is 10/10. A quick 3 minute walk from the Colloseum and delicious food and drinks await you! Ask for Donny, and tell him Ivy sent you, he will make sure you have the BEST experience! We started with recommending house red wine a negroni sbagliato with prosecco. The mixologist made delicious drinks, I regret not ordering an espresso martini. We tried the artichoke appetizer, good but wasn't my favorite. The pizza and the pasta though, was pure perfection! We ordered pizza with salami and sliced tomato (too little cheese), pesto gnocchi (very good pasta, but the pesto wasn't fresh), and lobster pasta (a very nice serving of lobster with a rich tomato sauce, comes with hand wipes and shell-cracking tools). I also ordered the chinotto (an Italian drink made from the fruit of the myrtle-leaved orange tree, tastes a lot like a better version of Pepsi with a slightly bitter but not at all unpleasant aftertaste), which was fantastic. This is my second time coming here this past month and I will say the food is delicious and the service is impeccable . It's conveniently located 5 minutes walking from the colosseum. We got the pesto gnocchi, divalo pizza, and lobster pasta. The pesto was a little on the salty side, but the flavor was great. The pizza was fairly basic consisting of spicy salami, cheese, and tomato sauce it was good, but nothing extremely special. The lobster pasta was delicious the perfect combination of garlic and tomato sauce in the pasta and the lobster was cooked to perfection. Service was a little slow when we first got there but everything got straightened out after a while. Food was very good. Service turned out to be great. It was touristy but it is close to the attractions so you get all sorts behaviors. We had the mussels, a pizza, and the gnocchi. All were so good. read more

Where to begin..... my husband and I first discovered this place 2 years ago while on a very extended stay in Rome. We ate here several times and tried different dishes each time we came. The food was always fresh and delicious along with the best staff I have ever seen! We were treated like family as well as the customers around us. Our main waiter was Donny, who gave us amazing service! Well, 2 years later we are back for an extended stay again. We went back, not knowing if Donny was still there or not. We sat down to be greeted by Aghalar, who goes by "Agha". We asked if Donny was still there but it wasn't his time to be on shift. Agha, gave us the same top notch service! The food was just as amazing as before! As we were about halfway thru our meal, guess who showed up!? Donny! It was like being greeted by family! He said "Welcome Home"..... That's how they make you feel there, like family. It's a family owned and run business that takes great pride in their service and their food. It's only a few minutes walk from the Colosseum. Absolutely lovely restaurant just down the street from the Colosseum. It was a hot day but they had outdoor seating underneath tents that constantly rained soothing mist - pretty refreshing! We started out with a trio of bruschettas that were nicely varied but each was absolutely delicious. My friend had a salmon pasta dish that he said was the best such salmon dish he'd ever eaten. I think that would be a solid recommendation for here. For me I had the fettucine with mushrooms and it was also quite delicious. We needed to get back to to the train station in about an hour, and it was going to be about 15 minutes to get there so we asked the waiter if they could expedite service. They absolutely came through and we had everything within about ten minutes of ordering. I think this was a fantastic experience to be a capstone for a great day seeing the Colosseum. read more

My pasta was fantastic and the pizza was one of the best we had on the trip. And portion size was perfect! The pizza was so light and crispy. I don't know where there are getting all the 1 star reviews from. One guy said that the food was amazing but his water and sodas were warm so gave them a 1 star, come on?! I would deduct a star, because they should disclose that it is cash only, which had quite a few customers in a tizzy. This was the third place we ate at that happened to be cash only. The water was room temperature but big deal. We asked for ice and the waiter brought us ice. Everyone around us cleaned their plates, as did we. Great place to kick back after a long day of walking. My family and I went here after a long, hot day at the Coloseum. It was HOT! We were seated right away, but service was slow. Since we were outside, in the shade with a cooling mister, that was fine with us. My daughter had the veggie plate and strawberries and lemon. My other daughter had the Gnocchi. They loved it. My wife had the spicy pizza and she too thought it was delish. I had the mushroom risotto and it was really good. Add a bottle of white and some water and soda, and that completes our restful, yummy lunch. I just wish the service was better. Go. read more

Great little find near the Colosseum. I was worried that it would be an overrated tourist trap, but it is not. We opted to sit inside as it was very hot- although their outside eating area was lovely. We sat downstairs ~ it reminded me of an Irish bar more than an Italian restaurant, although the large upstairs was very much what one would expect. We ordered a pizza and a 4 cheese pasta for sharing and both were delicious. The pasta needed pepper, but then was amazing, The pizza had a salami that was too spicy for me, my husband loved it. When I took the salami off it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had in Rome. The drinks were also ver good, and the prices reasonable. We sat next to a couple who had an air bnb in the area and ate there 5 nights, That's how much they enjoyed it. Service was ok- typical Italian. the best restaurant ear the colosseum. after visiting i suggest stopping by here for refreshments and refueling with food. inside is a wonderful place to unwind and dine. be sure to try their house specialities. i got the seafood risotto and fettuccini and some cold cut chaqutterie (i definitely spelled that so wrong that spellcheck didn't even bother fixing it) the staff is very friendly and provide wonderful service. they treat everyone like family. my favorite dish there of all time was the seafood risotto it was incredible and i still dream about it or this date. i left feeling satisfied and super happy -- a wonderful experience! thank you for authentic roman dishes. read more

Excellent casual place near the Colosseum. We stopped there for lunch after sightseeing so everyone was pretty hungry. We had pizza, salads, fettuccine a la bolognese, and artichoke. Everything was delicious and we would 100% come back again. Great service and good for families. read more

The food was fantastic! With record breaking temperatures, we were looking for a place to eat to get out of the heat. The inside was jam packed but they had fans with misters so we ate outside. At first the service did not seems so good with the waiter asking if we had placed our orders. Aside from this oversight, everything was great. Mmmm... This is what you call high-quality food. My family and I had lunch here and we were seated immediately when we entered the place. The food was excellent. We ordered the smoked salmon, Caprese, lamb chops, some plain cheese pizza, and more. The Caprese stood out to me as some of the best Caprese I've ever had and the lamb chops were amazing too. The cheese pizza and smoked salmon even tasted really good. I'll be back here to try something new next time! read more

Our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive, polite, and super helpful. Spoke pretty well in English, too. The 'house wine' was excellent. Wasn't truly a house wine, but one from the region called Castelli Romani. You have to try it! ** For an appetizer, try the mozzarella with tomatoes and olives. So incredible. ** The gilthead (Orata) with potatoes was excellent. One of the servers came out and de-boned the fish - interesting to see. The combination of the sliced potatoes, olives and tomatoes was amazing. The fish risotto was good too. ** The must have entrees here are the Linguine al Salmone & Fettuccini with mushrooms. Absolutely amazing. ** The tiramisu was wonderful. Bottom had pieces of chocolate which added great texture and a nice surprise at the end. ** Their cheesecake is amazing. The food, service and location were top notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Rome.

Myself and three of my friends vacationing in Italy decided to dine here and received great service, but then the bill was provided and we realized we were charged 8 euro total for bread and "service". We also were charged 12 euro for two very small glasses of lemon cello that is typically given as a courtesy. When we asked why we were charged for this they became argumentative and started telling in front of other patrons and refused to take those extravagant charges off the bill. One of the waiters lied and said the 8 euro bread and service charge was a tax which clearly is a lie because food in Italy is not taxed. It was extremely embarrassing as the other waiters talked to other customers about the disagreement on the bill. Very unprofessional and I will never come back! They clearly take advantage of tourists. read more

The place is big with plenty of tables but nobody likes to sit inside, so it's really a small restaurant if you see it from the street. The food was absurdly good and large portions. Our youngest son was being a bit difficult, but instead of being annoyed, our server entertained him into submission and he suddenly was very well-behaved and happy to be out at a restaurant. The service was initially a little slow, which was unfortunate given how thirsty and famished I was. And although the cheese sauce of my gnocchi al quattro fromaggi tasted very good, the gnocchi themselves fell short of my expectations for real Italian food as they did not melt in the mouth, but were a bit chewy. BUT 8euro service charge for a party of 4. When I asked about the fee, they showed me where it states there will be a 2euro fee per person on the menu. This review is only one * for five reasons. First, the head waiter was constantly on his phone. Secondly, another table was from Atlanta and the waiter was cursing saying, "S*** and f ***." He thought he was funny but it was underlying rude. Third, they mistakes our order and brought it to the wrong table. Fourthly, I heard a separate table asking for the check and their waiter said, "Where is my money?" Lastly, it was chilly and they could have turned on the outside heater. A very overpriced place in this area. The food is below the average, and the service is just ok. We ordered four different courses but none of them are considered satisfactory. The mussels are just like microwaved frozen bag from the cheap supermarket.... They charge €2 per person as service fee, which is uncommon for this level of quality and service. The owner is rude and impolite. Given so many good restaurants in Rome, you probably want to avoid this one even in this specific area. In fact, if you are considering dining nearby, Trattoria Luzzi is a much better choice, where you spend half the price and get double the service and triple the quality of food. At Luzzi, the Ox tail, veal, and roasted lamb are highly recommended! Even though Luzzi does not look as fancy as this one, they serve more authentic local dishes. read more
