I wanted it gone quickly, and with minimal hassle, so I called to see what they had to say. Over the phone, I was given a best case scenario price of $1900. Physically, my SUV was in decent shape, given its age. However, since the motor was shot, I was already prepared for the final offer to be a lot less. After a test drive and an assessment of the vehicle, the offer dropped by about half. The rep explained all of the work that would be required for them to repair the vehicle, prepare it for resale, and turn a decent profit. I appreciated him taking the time to explain the reason for the offer, and I liked that he was open to negotiation. I showed him my other offers and we negotiated until we were able to find a price that we both agreed was fair. After signing over the title and filling out a few other pieces of paperwork, I left with a check in-hand. The entire process took about 20-30 minutes. Actually, it only took so long because he had a hard time getting the front tags off and had to borrow a tool from a nearby AAA to finish removing them. I admit, I was expecting a scam, due to both the corny commercials and the extremely minimalist office space. However, it looks to me like they skimp on all the frills to be able to offer sellers the most money they can for their trade-ins. From my experience, I'd say it's an honest business, and I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a quick and fair resale without all of the headache. I was nothing short of amazed at how easy this process was, how friendly the rep was, how easy he was to work with, and how quickly I was able to rid myself of this 3,174 lb nuisance.

I stumbled upon Dennis and his business online and the whole experience was fantastic. We gave him a call and he gave us a very fair and competitive price quote. Everything sounded like so great so I confirmed and he said that he'd be there in 25 minutes. I expected him to be late but he was there before 25 minutes as promised. Promises are hard to keep when you're busy but Dennis seems like a business owner that holds true to his word. Talking to him on the car ride to my mechanic, it seems that Dennis prides himself in customer service and always has a positive outlook. I work in the customer service industry myself and I was highly impressed. As a result, I personally recommend him for any roadside assistance needed. The dispatch was so nice and friendly and told me to turn my flashers on and that he is sending a driver right the way. The tow truck driver Danny arrived really fast and it took him literally 2 min to load my Volvo on his truck. On our way to the dealership Danny offered me bottle of water and made me feel really comfortable. I want to thank the driver and the dispatch for being so helpful in such a difficult situation.

I've had good experiences here overall across two purchases and one sale. Last summer, I bought a…read moreconvertible that was hard to find here in the DC area, so I had it shipped through the Carmax network from a few states away. I knew going in that I would pay more at Carmax than at some other dealerships, but in the end, the extra cost (the shipping fee plus Carmax just being pricier in general) was worth it. My salesman, Marcus, was super nice and chill. I didn't feel rushed or pressured at all. The sales staff let me take a longer test drive than the normally allowed 20 min, and I appreciated their flexibility. After all, if I'm going to drop thousands of dollars on a vehicle, I need sufficient time to test drive it, visually inspect it, etc. I also appreciate the fact that Marcus and the crew did NOT drill license plate holes in my front bumper (the state my car shipped from does not require a front tag). He knew the car was looking sharp, and he guessed correctly that I would want to avoid drilling holes if possible (I found a magnet solution). He handed me my front tag as well as an order for Carmax tag installation if I changed my mind. That is good customer service. Now to the reason why I don't regret having paid a bit more at Carmax. My car ended up having two issues: an engine emissions issue (check engine alert) that required Carmax to update a couple of parts, and a paint bubble on the rear quarter panel. I'm thankful that I noticed both issues within the 90-day warranty period. For the paint issue, I brought the car back in, a service manager looked at it, and he said right away they'd cover the repair (either through a repair shop of their choosing or of my choosing). Again, I appreciated the flexibility. I was a little surprised they didn't write up paperwork promising to cover the repair, but sure enough, at the designated time, my chosen repair shop called the service manager, and the service manager made the payment. How about that? A handshake deal that came through. But seriously, Carmax, the paperwork route is the better one. Some pro tips: Make an appointment online. Unless it's a slow day like a Monday, do not just stroll in and expect quick service. I made two appointments (for two separate test drives), and a salesman greeted me within minutes of my arrival each time. Another tip: take longer than 20 minutes for your test drive if needed. They are flexible (and they do not ride with you during the test drive). I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a bit disappointing to have to bring a new (to me) car in twice for repairs, but they did live up to their warranty. I'm also just a tad bitter that they offered me a low price for a trade-in/sale a few years ago, but, hey, I didn't have to take their offer. All in all, I would not hesitate to shop here again. You might pay a bit more, but at least you get a 90-day warranty. Some other local dealerships offer nothing after you drive off the lot. My only other piece of advice (not Carmax-related) is to shop Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) if possible. The particular car I wanted was too old for that kind of certification, so I went the Carmax route. Cheers.

The DC fast charging system failed completely during a family road trip in December 2025. When I reported it, the dealership repeatedly suggested the problem was the charging station -- not the vehicle. I had personally witnessed an identical 2023 BMW iX charge successfully at the same station where mine failed. It took my husband physically accompanying me to the dealership before anyone took the matter seriously. The vehicle was at BMW of Rockville for 62 consecutive days. During this time the dealership attempted to return the vehicle unrepaired, failed to record a loaner vehicle request causing a two-month service delay, and missed multiple committed repair deadlines without proactive communication. I was provided a gasoline-powered loaner despite owning a battery electric vehicle. The repair ultimately required replacement of the Combined Charging Unit and Battery Management Electronics -- over $8,200 in parts. BMW's own repair order confirmed the fault was with the vehicle all along -- the same conclusion I had reached four months earlier. The vehicle faulted on its first real-world DC fast charging attempt at Electrify America the day after return. I have since filed complaints with NHTSA, the Better Business Bureau, and the Maryland Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. BMW of North America has failed to respond to a formal compensation demand letter despite a 14-day response deadline. I share this as a factual account to inform other EV owners of what to expect if they encounter a serious warranty issue at this dealership.
