Just bought a 2008 Passat from these folks and i was thoroughly impressed with their staff, professionalism, and most importantly...price!!! They had the lowest price car in the area, beating competitors by $1,000. And when i showed up to test drive it, it ran great and they let me drive it over to another dealership so that i could compare it to another car i was considering. Besides price the next best thing was the ease of purchasing the car. I had been approved by my bank for a loan but it was a holiday so the bank was closed. Not a problem, Cherner Bros just asked me to leave them a check and i could take the car with right then, and they wouldnt cash the check until my bank transfered the money over to my account. So before i took the car, for a perk i asked to have the car detailed. They did that no problem, and i picked it up the next day. When i picked it up, they had also added two new tires to the front becauae they found out the tread was to low. Awesome right...that was $240 saved. Of course i did get worried a day later when my low tireressure light came on....it was my back right tire was losing air....and it was not one of the new tires. So i called them and asked if they would fix that tire too! And hell if they didnt say sure, and did it for free. Turns out the tire had been plugged in the past and started leaking. To have a matching left rear tire i had them put that on at the same time and i paid the difference...$120. So to summarize, least expensive 2008 passat in the dc area, great staff, and 4 tires for the price of one! This place rules....highly recommend!!! read more

This dealership had the wrong description for vehicles , they put up an automatic when I got there the vehicle was stick shift. The one trying to sell the car almost ended up crashing us and on top of that the vehicle sold to me had several issues . Cannot get in contact with the manager nor the original seller of the vehicle don't buy cars from here and save yourself some cash . I called a mechanic in the area to get a pre buy inspection, and was DENIED due to the fact that it was from Cherner Brothers. the mechanic then went on to tell me they used to work on their cars, but told them to not come back after customers (he named at least 4) had issues right after buying their cars, and he wouldn't want to be liable for Cherner Brothers lack of quality control. this shop had multiple awards and was recognized by carfax multiple years in a row for quality service, so ill believe them over Cherner Bros. If the price is low, its for a reason and I would look somewhere else read more

9/22/23: Typical buy here pay here dirt lot dealership. Don't let Matthew's friendly demeanor fool you - he will say what he needs to to get you in the door. Just passed VA inspection with no recommendation by dealership to replace tires less than 400 miles, 6 months ago, yet when I make the near 90 minute drive to see Michael, magically 2K disappears off the trade in for tire replacement. None of the other 5 dealerships I visited today made mention of the tires at all during their appraisals, all of which were in depth appraisals compared to the joy ride described below. Matthew and his manager also took my car for a spin around the block which is completely customary - what isn't is drinking a quarter tank of premium gas in a 10 minute drive. Got there to look at a used car and it was filthy, was so dirty I didn't even want to take it for a test drive. The car smelled also. It's like they put no thought into preparing the car for sale at all. Mind you I gave the sales rep a call with a heads up of what time I would be there. I am highly disappointed with their product. On Memorial Day I drove an hour home very excited thinking I have my car. Which I did. However, now it is getting close to when my warranty is going to expired. I took it to the Nissan dealership for an inspection and they gave me 5+ and over $3,000 worth of things that I needed to get replaced. One thing that a Cherner Bros. Employee told me was that they take pride in their products. Also that they don't worry too much about the body of the car because they focus on the mechanics. From my perspective it seems like they only did the bare minimum if anything at all to allow the car to pass inspection. Not to mention that I paid over $6,000 when I bought the car. I would only recommend shopping here if you have a mechanic with you so they can check before you buy. read more

Let me tell you a story of how I got sold a car that needed over $2,584.90 in repairs. In March of 2021, I bought a 2012 challenger from this place. The challenger broke down the very next day in the middle of the road. There are no returns on any of the vehicles and they only offer vaguely worded warranties that may or may not cover sending your car to a mechanic of their choosing. When I went back to cherner brothers to take it to be serviced, I overheard a conversation with the salesman I was working with and another customer saying that their newly purchased car was cutting off while driving and potentially had a battery issue as well. Smh. I thought the challenger might've had a battery issue so I took the car to their first line mechanic which was about a half mile away at Kensington gas. After plugging the car up to a code reader the guy there couldn't figure out the issue and gave me my car back. I let David Hernandez, the salesman, know and he scheduled for me to see an actual mechanic. Over the next 2-3 days I could not get the car to start consistently and it was pretty much hit or miss with getting it back on the road. My next service appointment was with a mechanic at the Exxon on Connecticut Ave in Kensington that is also less than a mile away. The Exxon mechanic I was working with asked me to bring my car up to the station and I did for two full work days straight but the mechanic didn't even begin looking at my car. So the third day, I brought it back, he asked me to replicate the issue and when I replicated the issue he said he would take a look at the car. I brought it up to the Exxon and easily replicated the issue. When I asked him to come look at the car, he acted busy for the remainder of the work day and did not look at the car. Then, he asked me to leave my car there and said he would call me when he could replicate the issue and he would let me know when it was fixed and ready. I left it for two more days, called back, and he still hadn't even looked at my car. Ended up arguing with this service dude at Exxon who then told me to "just come get my car" and that "he has no affiliation with the Cherner Brothers" which is a lie because I bet if you go there on any given day you'll see that the Exxon on 10616 Connecticut Ave, Kensington MD 20895 is full of new green cherner brothers plates. Which indicates that they're selling people cars with masked issues and assuring them they'll fix the cars under their vague, limited or extended warranty. Then, they act like they're some sort of good people for selling you a beat up car and fixing it. Anyway, I ended up getting my car from the Exxon, taking it to a dodge dealer, and having it diagnosed to find that it needed a gas tank replacement for $2,584.90. I ended up getting the replacement done by a known, credible mechanic (for less than the dealer price) and the car still wouldn't start consistently. The credible mechanic tried several other fixes including corrosion removal, battery testing, and replacing the car key battery and it still would not start consistently. On top of that, while I was getting things fixed, the windshield wiper switch stopped working while the wipers were on. And the wiper switch is attached to the steering column and would have required a whole steering column replacement which I believe was around 850. At this point, I had to get rid of it and pursue legal aid to get the money that they do not want to pay me for having the car fixed by my mechanic and not their mechanic. It is not stated in the warranty that I have to use their mechanic. As I mentioned, they only have two mechanics. One who is a lower level "mechanic" at a small, 1960s looking gas station, Kensington gas, that could not fix this issue and the other at the Exxon that said "just come get your car". So all in all, if you want to spend months of your time trying to fix a dead end car, going back and forth with incompetent service technicians, dealing with sleazy sales people, or burning your hard earned money, stop by and speak to the circus clown cherner brothers about buying your new car. Otherwise, go anywhere but here. Save yourself the headache. read more

I was very interested in a 07 camry stick with 30k miles. Started the process of purchasing however had to wait a day for credit approval as they were closing. I had test drove the car and had a co signer with great credit ready to go, and was told by Laura, the financing lady, she'd call first thing in the morning to let me know about the credit approval with my co signer. i was very excited about this particular vehicle and had been car shopping for a month. I was very exhausted from looking and seeing cars for the past few weeks. My previous car was totaled and i totally loved it. I also drove 45 mins to get there and had to drive an hour and half back home against traffic. I was fine leaving as i knew with my cosigner i'd get decent financing and purchase the car. She didn't call first thing the next morning as she had stated, i called later in the morning around 11 am and Laura said i need to get another piece of information from my co signer and i told her i'd call her right back with that. I called right back and was told she would call ME back as she was with a customer. SO i waited. Also had my cosigner call aorund 11:45 am and was told the same thing. She would call back. Around 1 pm she had ANOTHER guy call me who i had not spoke to at all the previous day and told me the car was sold and offered to put me in chevy that i had no interest in. It was a very fishy and very frustrating experience as i had VERY high hopes for this vehicle. I also felt the staff wasn't taking me serious for obvious reasons to me. Family owned and i don't look like them in anyway. The car would have been a great deal if it had the original motor. Which i would have had verified by my mechanic. It seemed VERY sketchy. Trust me i would have found out if there was something fishy with an 07 with 30k miles as i've worked on cars and have a great mechanic who has looked over my 5 previous cars. Also I told them about a loud rattling sound coming from the car when i test drove it. One guy rudely stated the age of the car and that it could be normal. A younger guy from across the room said its the heat shield as if he knew about it already. They did say they would take care of the heat shield which is why i've given 2 stars instead of 1. So later that day, feeling VERY disappointed and let down by the Cherner Brothers staff, I went to another dealer, Cowles Nissan in woodbridge and got a GREAT deal on a 2016 Ford Focus Stick Shift with low miles. Also was less expensive then the Camry. im glad i could give my business to another dealer who made a way for financing, gave me their full attention, and were super courteous. Big smiles and a very updated clean store compared to the Cherner dealer with a grumpy older staff and a broken coffee maker still sitting out. Stood at this coffee maker waiting for my coffee to brew as staff walked by me for about 5mins. Finally Laura came out her office and said its broke. I wouldn't recommend this place after my experience. Also cost 3 points on my credit as well as my cosigner for nothing. They should give me a free oil change or something on my new Ford. My advice is you never know who your serving and should also give your best because they could leave a review! maybe steer a customer or two away. read more

We placed an ad on Craigslist for our car. Cherner Brothers, without indicating they were part of a car dealership, inquired about buying it and came to our house. Two people showed up, Carey and another person, who I will refer from here on as the "angry guy." They did not say what dealership or company they represented. They seemed very unhappy about our car and some issues with the paint job. The "angry guy" repeatedly asserted that the door had been replaced and that the car had significant damage. After repeated questions (which began to feel like an interrogation), I finally asked if they wanted to buy the car or not. The "angry guy" said he did not. Not satisfied to leave our unpleasant interaction there, he then said that I had been dishonest with him and should be more forthcoming in the future. (Thanks!) I should also mention that at the same time as he told me our car was terrible, the "angry guy" repeatedly also offered a low-ball price. It is not every day that used-car salespeople, under pretenses, arrive at my home and insult me. But yesterday was a special day. I believe these people are unprofessional, and are using intimidation and insults to try to negotiate better deals for their car lot. They are the most honest ad friendliest auto dealer I have ever dealt done business with. I bought my car online sight unseen, and they never gave me a reason not to trust them throughout the whole process. They answered my call when I had a question about the vehicle and were very text friendly from start to finish, which is a huge plus due to work. I live 2 hours away from the dealership, and they were able to arrange to deliver the car right to my door without me having to drive 2 hours to go pick it up. 3 years ago I bought a 2003 Nissan 350z from Cherner Brothers Auto Brokers in Kensington, MD. After a while later when it was to late to take it back. My car started burning oil like it was leaking. I took it to a Nissan dealer and I had to replace coils and plugs twice after they told me I need a new engine. They told me the engine that was in there was damage from the start but was fix to run for a while. Do not buy a car from these auto broker people or you will be broke. Anyone need a Nissan 350z. I want to get rid of this car. This was suppose to be my dream car and it turn out to be a nightmare car I bought from Cherner Brothers Auto. I was selling my car online on CL (very clean and under book value). One day someone from the same phone number called and made a lowball offer. I politely said no thanks but he insisted that I think about it and let him know. I got inpatient and said "good luck" and hung up. Few minutes later my CL ad got flagged and deleted! My gosh this guy doesn't take rejections well. Maybe he wanted me to have harder time selling the car. I feel this is a very mean way to source cars cheap. If I could give a 1/2 star i would. Much like Avery's complaint on 7/27/21 we have experiended the near exact same issues from a car we purchased in April 2021 from Cherner Brothers (Dodge Charger). Multiple issues from the day to vehicle was delivered. Their website claims it fully inspects and certifies the used cars it's sells. Well, clearly any true licensed mechanic or mechanic with even a "Fisher Price" certification could identify a lemon when they see it. Deceitful, fraudulent, felonious, are the first words that come to mind to summarize this dealership... Buyer Beware this is a "Lot of Lemons". The vehicle has been in their possession since 11/9/21 for the 3rd breakdown even after a supposed new "used" engine was replaced, on top of that we went back and forth at least 3 times to fix the AC and electric issues to have the vehicle dropped off with the AC still not working and a check engine light on in addition. And when I say we had it in their shop for at least 6 times, that's for weeks on each issue... Again doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure the AC doesn't work when you turn it on and the check engine light really??? Thankfully you'd think paying for the added service protection would help, Nope! And we've tried to be patient but as other complaints state they ignore your calls and the car just sits there. This was our son's first used car purchase and it's been a complete nightmare. He's lucky if he's driven that car 2 days. Customer service yeah that's a huge ZERO, please read the reviews thoroughly and do your research and choose elsewhere and preferably a business that stands by their name and reputation and backed by the BBB. read more

I bought a 200 Nissan Frontier pick up. It had some problems, which required going back and forth, which was a drag. But they worked with me, and were pleasant. When I finally had to pay to fix an issue, they reimbursed me. So, they really need to get a better mechanic to do their work, but I thought they were good guys, and were willing to work with me on it. So I am giving them 4 stars. They scheduled me a appointment for Saturday and spoke to me to confirm the appointment that morning. I purchased a red 2013 Suburban LT 2500 (3/4 ton) which is a hard vehicle to find, since 2013 is the last year they made a 2500. This Suburban has all possible options and is in perfect condition. I found this car from a search on cars.com. I live in Nevada, purchased the car sight unseen and had it shipped. While the mileage was high for a 2013 it was reflected in the price. I am EXTREMELY happy with this Suburban; it was exactly what I was looking for. Carey was very helpful, providing all additional information about the vehicle and very prompt FedExing the paperwork, and delivering the vehicle to the shipping pickup point. There was a lot of trust involved in this transaction - wire transferred the funds and waited a couple weeks for the vehicle to arrive. However everything went as it should. I've had such a good experience buying my car with Cherner Brothers. I bought a 2011 Nissan Rogue in October. The sales guys were busy when i walked in but a friend of the business greeted me and got keys to the cars i was interested in test driving. After deciding which car i wanted, my salesman went over the numbers and even though the down payment was a little more than i was looking to pay the monthly payment worked out great for my budget. The car is a great quality. I know absolutely nothing about cars and i was able to drive the car around without it being checked by a professional for the past 5 months without any issues. I just went last weekend to get an oil change and have it checked out and everything looks great, i only had to have the wipers changed. Other than that i had issues with the title not coming in the mail, and they were super helpful with getting me another and replacing the temp tags. These guys are bad to deal with. I was interested in a dodge they had for sale I called on a Monday and told them I wanted to come take a look, I was told they are by appointment only so I made a appointment for wensday. On wensday I called a couple of hours before the appointment to confirm only to be told by the same guy that he got his days wrong and had me for Thursday, he apologized for the mix up and said he would meet me at my work to show me the truck I said that I would let him know Thursday whY I was doing. He then proceded to ask how I was paying for it, I told him half cash the rest I would finance. He then told me that he has no way to finance me, but he has a bank he uses and they would do it so he gave them my number. After I Hung up with him the bank calls and tells me everything can be done over the phone, this seemed strange to me, the bank then asks for my social I said no. They then proceded to tell me if I wanted to buy a car they need that number to wich I replied ill come in and do it I don't give that over the phone and the man on the phone was trying to force me to give it I told him ill come in and do it maby the next day. So now its Thursday and I once again call the auto dealer and confirm my appt. for four and I said can you meet me at my work he said no he can't he didn't do rush hour traffic even though he said he would meet me anywhere any time so I said ill meet you there. So I leave work and drive in heavy traffic to the dealer and when I arrive no ones there so I wait for about a half hour and then call the car salesman he answers and I said were are u Iam here . The next part I couldent belive he said " Iam home " , I said "what are you doing there we have a appt.?" He told me that because I hadent gone to the bank that he didn't see any reason to stick around . Wtf are u serious u wasted my time why didn't you call me what a asshole. I told him I called you to confirm I was coming so why aren't you here .
